Need for a Custom Field in PO

Hi there,
I want to store a container number field which is a 20 character field in the PO. It can either be in header level or at item level.
Is there a standard field to store the container number in SAP?
If not make a suggestion please.

Even if store the Container number in the Header text fields, how can i run a report with this field?
I want to use the container number as a filter criteria in my purchase order report.
Would it be possible to have a text field as a search criteria?

XRPM: Need to find the BADI for adding custom fields to master data

We have activated XRPM(4.0) business content and need to add some custom fields to some of the master data ( for example need to add custom fields to master data info object 0RPM_IHGU, 0RPM_IGCG etc).
We have enhanced the data sources ( 0RPM_ITEM_HEADER_GUID_ATTR and 0RPM_FIN_CAT_GUID_ATTR respectively) in the source system by appending additional fields to the append structure of the data source We are trying to find the BADI where we can implement the custom code.
Can anybody help to find the particular BADI, id there one for all master data carrying data source in the xRPM source system?

1) In your R3 goto SE16 --> open table ROOSOURCE.
Search for your OLTP source...eg: 0RPM*
The column EXTRACTOR will give you the module name.

SRM Portal - Search help for a custom field

Hi,
I have added a custom field to the SRM Portal (5.0) shopping cart, by adding the field to structures INCL_EEW_PD_ITEM_CSF INCL_EEW_PD_ITEM_CSF_SC.
However, I need to filter the search help for that custom field, based on values & relationships stored in a Z table.
Is this possible? How? Please help.

Currently, my idea would be to create a search help for the custom field & filter the values in a search help exit. However, would I be able to get other field values (standard) from SRM into my search help exit?

BSP: F4 Help For a custom field...

Hi All,
I need to display search help for a custom field in one of my custom view.
Search Help for the custom field is already implemented.. but how can i use it in BSP View!.
In the standard CRM_IC application i couldn't find any similar search help scenario, coz it is calling some standard methods like ShowF4KeyAndValueHelp3,
ICWCShowF4HelpExtern by passing the structure and field name!.
I think these standard methods will work only with the fields which have value help table at the data element level. As the custom field that i m using does not have any value help i cant go for this method i guess!.
Any Help/Hint?..

Screen Exit for adding custom fields in Additional Data tab in ME21N

I need a screen exit or whatever other method for adding custom fields to the additional data tab at header level.
I also need a similar exit for adding a filed at item level.

1)goto to tcode SE24 give the CL_EXITHANDLER and display and then double click on the GET_INSTANCE
keep Break point at this location 'call method cl_exithandler=>get_class_name_by_interface'
then the tcode it will trigger there and we can debugg there we can find badi'for that tcode and then remove the break point.
2)Goto to tcode->status->program name->double click on that program will display's
then press crtl+F then cl_exithandler

thanks for your reply, perhaps I should clarify my question:
1) I have a custom field in an infotype
2) I have a table containing the search help information
3) I assigned a search help to the custom field
4) I have activated a search help exit
The problem is that the information that I get from the custom field is not sufficient for making the selection. Therefore, I would like to somehow get hold of the addition information, such as BEGDA, ENNDA, MOLGA, to do a proper selection in the search help exit. How can I achieve that?
I read something about function module DYNP_VALUES_READ -would it be possible to call this function module from my search help exit and thereby reach my goal?

How to maintain change history for a custom field

Hi All,
I have added a new custom field in standard table FKKVKP by appending a new structure to FKKVKP. Now this custom field will appear in transaction CAA2. My requirement is I have to maintain change history for my custom field. In transaction SCDO I have seen that there is an object MKK_VKONT that maintains change history for FKKVKP entries. But I am not aware how to adjust this field so that SAP generates change history for my custom field as well.

I have never used these tables but I have working experience with change docs.
The Z field which you have added should be in the above structures, then you should be able to see that field in the changes.
Of course change document should be set to that field-data element.

Hi Kevin,
when you have defined your customer fields, you have created new fields in the CUF structures. The labels displayed on the SC screen come from the data element you have assigned to those cust fields in the include structure.
If you have used a std data element, then you can change its translation (attention, this will impact all structures, tables... abap objects using this data element).
If you have created a Z data element, then adapt its description accordingly.

You can set default value to custom field thru Lookup table. Assign lookup table to custom field and set default value to some lookup value (Note: check the “Choose a value to use as a default when adding new item” checkbox).

Error using Bapi_PO_Change for update custom fields

Dear Expert,
I have requirement for update custom field in table ekko. I used BAPI_PO_CHANGE with PO_number as a key. Then i put the value of custom field in segment TABLES - EXTENSIONIN.
But I get error : "ERROR TRANSFERING EXTENSIONIN DATA FOR ENHANCEMENT CI_EKKODB".
When I checked, I found the difference between data type the value for BAPI_PO_CHANGE (Usinf structure BAPIPAREX) and data type for custom field in table EKKO.
Data Type in BAPI_PO_CHANGE is CHAR (you can see in structure BAPIPAREX). And data type for the custom field is DECIMAL.
I found the note '1124803', but the correction note was not applicable for us because our released system is 500.
Is there any suggestion or solution for resolve our problem?

I tried with BAPI_PO_CHANGE in level header, and SAP was support the BAPI. And also i tried to appending the same fields in MEPOHEADR & MEPOHEADERX structures, but the problem is the type of my custom fields are DECIMAL, then the type MEPOHEADR & MEPOHEADERX structures are CHARACTER. So i got the error : "ERROR TRANSFERING EXTENSIONIN DATA FOR ENHANCEMENT CI_EKKODB".
Because the types are difference.
Have you any suggestion to solve this problem?

Hi ,
If you are looking to limit the number of characters that can be entered to the field from GUI then a global side effect and rule combination will help you achieve it . It would be something like this :
This is done by leveraging Side Effects under Rules - Rules Activation Conditions. You also need to set the Rule as Global for this to be effective across the system.
In there the following has to be set:
<$dDocTitle:maxLength=80$>
<$dDocName:maxLength =50$>
Set the above side effect in the rules and corresponding Profile need to refer it for being able to limit the number of characters that can be entered for Title and Content ID.
Custom metadata too can be controlled in the same way . For example, if metadata "Version" need to limit the number of characters being entered then "Side Effects" to be set is as follows :
<$xVersion:maxLength=50$>
NB - the maxLength parameter is not supported for fields of type Memo. It will only take effect on standard text fields.

Design Question for a Custom Field

I am designing a custom Field, GridField, that creates a grid of n X m cells. Each column has a width, each row has a height, and each cell cell can have a color, border, text, and font. My question deals with how to treat the borders of the cell. It is a design trade off question, so I am interested in your viewpoint as a developer and how you would expect this GridField to work.
Say I need a 3 X 3 grid with the columns 30 pixels wide and rows 20 pixels tall. The entire field is 60 pixels X 90 pixels in size. Now, if I add a vertical border on the sides and in between each column and that border has a width - say 2 pixels. What type of behavior would you expect from this Field:
Option A. The cell remains 20 pixels X 30 pixels in size. The entire Field grows in size by the border width - so with three columns and a 2 pixel border, the GridField is now 90 + 4 borders X 2 pixels = 98 pixels wide. If I add a similar horizontal border, then the GridField is now 60 pixels + 8 pixels for the border = 68 pixels tall.
Option B. Each cell is reduced in size by the border - so now the cells are 18 pixels tall and 28 pixels wide.
These options become more interesting when you consider putting a border around just one cell in the grid. Are the border widths added to all the cells in the row and column of this cell, or are the border widths subtracted from the one cell that has the borders?

P.S. Why am I doing this? I could accomplish the same thing using a TableLayoutManager and LabelFields. However, if I have a 10 X 10 grid, that means I have to create 100 LabelFields. With this approach, I only create one object and a more "robust" paint method. I believe I am making a smaller widget to accomplish the same task.
