Need forward button to only appear after slide is viewed

For Education purposes I dont want my students to be able to forward through the course without viewing all of the information. So I remove the forward button on the skin editor. This creates a problem if the student clicks return on accident or only wants to hear the beginning of the previous slide. They now have to watch the entire course or page again. i have tried to create an Advanced action on enter to show a hidden button if the slide was last viewed or else hide but this does not work bc if they go back multiple slides the button only shows on the slide they go back to.
I can achive this by creating a variable and advanced action per slide but this will require me to make one variable and action for each page.
So what I need is one button (goes to next slide when clicked) that is on every page (entire program) but only shows if the user goes back to that page (its been previouly viewed). There has to be a one button one action to achive this.... But its beyond me... is it beyond you too????

I am new to encore and I am having some problems. I have set up my menu to loop and a certain point and I have put all my buttons on the menu. When I go to preview the menu, the buttons only appear after the menu loops for the first time. I am sure there is a simple solution, but if someone could help me out that would be great.

Yes, after the menu enters the loop point that you can define for each of your menu.

Why does the attachement icon indicator (paper clip) only appear after the message is selected?

In my inbox there should be an attachment indicator (paper clip) appearing on all messages that have an attachment, however, the icon only appears after the message is selected. So there is no way of knowing if a message contains an attachment without clicking on it. This is IMAP mail through Godaddy. thank you

Is the mail set to synchronize or only download bodies when selected? My guess is the latter as the attachment forms part of the body so the header that is downloaded to form the mail list has no information about attachments. Hence Thunderbird becomes aware of an attachment once the body is downloaded.

Why are the back/forwards buttons no longer working after upgrade?

Hi, I recently upgraded from Firefox 3.5 (I believe) to Firefox 4.0.1 and now the back and forwards buttons no longer work. I tried resetting the settings under the toolbars > customize, etc. That didn't work. FYI, I'm using a mac. Any solutions? Thanks in advance...

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

When i type words dissapear and only appear after i force quit pages.

Every time i type something in pages it wont be displayed until i keep typing and it will reappear at random or when i force quit the app and open it again. What can i do?

Try restarting your iPad.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

Button get_url only worked after the first loop

Hi all,
I created a new layer, draw a rectangle, converted it to button, made its alpha to 0 and then added a snippet to go to the url. But when it played, the action only worked after the first loop had finished. It didn't work at the beginning.

When I put in a scroll in fcx, I get a single frame of the scroll flashing on the screen about a second or two before the scroll appears. There is nothing on the timeline and this only appears after I have made the quicktime or dvd. Any thoughts?

Back & forward buttons won't work after going full screen

I have a Logitech cordless mouse. When ever I'm watching a
video, like on You Tube, and I go to full screen, my mouse
back/forward buttons won't work, and I have to re boot my computer.
I have tried every thing Logitech told me to do, but still have the
problem. They think it's a flash player problem. I saw that one
other person in the forums has the same problem. Any ideas?

I can't find the preferences section of itunes. where is it because it isn't at the very top of the screen and I didn't see it anywhere else. i hasn't told me that the back-up is corrupted so I don't know about that. I just know that it always comes up with the error message 50 when I try to get the back-up restored to it.

MY FIREFOX does not have a URL box, refresh, back/forward buttons or a tool bar with file, view, tools, etc.

There's no bar that says file, tools, view, (other?) OR URL box, reload button or back/forward buttons, so I can't even do some of the things people are suggesting, like run in safe mode. This requires using the file button. The suggestions I'm getting all require using the bar that I don't have. I also uninstalled and reinstalled firefox to see if it would change, but it didn't. I've still got the same problem.
Would LOVE to take care of this soon. It's causing me to put some projects on hold. Annette

Button Rollovers not Appearing after burning

Hello,
Need some help. I created a DVDSP project with multiple menus and multiple tracks. Everything has been connected correctly, along with using a standard Overlay (white when you rollover, yellow when you select). All end jumps are fine, in fact in Simulator, it's picture perfect.
The problem is when I burn the DVD and test, I cannot see where my activate button is. I cannot see either on a Mac in DVD Player or in a stand alone DVD Player.
Is there a setting I'm missing to make the tracks (buttons) viewable in each Menu?
For example, Menu 2 has 6 tracks. When I select Menu 2, there is no white box to tell me where I am.
In Simulator it's a snap, work perfectly. After burning it's guess where you are...

OK - so you have the background as m2v - that's fine. Did you remember to create an overlay file? It is this that will give colour to the rollovers...
A dash, underline, arrowhead, dot, splodge or whatever is normal to see on menus as buttons are selected. These shapes are in the overlay (actually a part of the subpicture stream) and are shown when the button is selected. At all other times they are transparent. In your case, if you don't want an underline, you need to copy the text in the background footage into an overlay file.
An overlay is simply a still image (usually a pict, not JPG - they are not good to use) which is the same size as your video format (720x480, etc) It is mostly white and only has the shapes that you wish to appear as the rollover - in your case some text. You can either do it in grayscale or use colour - the colours get 'mapped' in DVDSP and for ease, use grayscale.
To line up the words you want, take a still form the background movie and use this as a guide in photoshop. Hide that layer when exporting your pict file.
When you import into DVDSP and add it to your menu you will then be able to colour the text as you roll over it. Without an overlay file you are left using the built in text tools, and yes, they can look very blocky. IMO, by far the best look is achieved when you don't use text as he highlight, but use some other shape instead, usually alongside the text somehow. It's a personal preference, and I'm sure you've got ideas of your own!

Retake button does not appear after test review in Captivate 6

Hello All,
I can't figure this out and it is really causing problems.
I have a 20 question quiz randomly pulled from questions pools. I am publishing this as Scorm 2004 and delivering via I SPring scorm compliant LMS.
The requirement to pass is 100%.
On the results slide I have a review quiz button, retake quiz button, and a continue button.
If a user does not pass the first time they either retake the quiz or review the quiz first.
If they review the quiz, when they return to the results slide the Retake quiz button is no longer there, and I cannot seem to come up with a way to make it appear, or reset the quiz for a 2nd attempt.
I have Completed settings to 100% on Quiz.
Pass settings to 100% on quiz.
I am showing the retake button.
I have set it to "Unlimited attempts"
Any suggestions? It seems to lie in the link between reaching the results slide from the review path rather from an attempt path?

Hello,
Bad news, because that is the way Quizzes are designed in Captivate. Reviewing will disable any future attempts, is meant only to be used after attempts are exhausted. For that reason personally I will hide the Review button by dragging it under the Retake button for quizzes.

Last Button Typed Re-Appears After SMS or BBM Message Sent

After upgrading to 5.0, this weird thing happens whenever I send a text or bbm. If I send a message that says, for example, "I'll see you soon." After I hit the "send" button, the letter "m" will appear in the field where you type. Obviously to get a period in my message I typed alt + m, but after I send, it automatically re-enters the last character I typed. I didn't type anything after hitting the send button, but the last key I typed in my message will appear on its own. So I'll have a draft message of just the letter "m". Anybody else having this problem? If my sentence ends in an exclamation point, the letter "b" automatically appears on its own.

Assuming you will get a single entire message on every read is pretty optimistic. You need to always read into the same ByteBuffer and compact it after you have extracted what you want, and you need a way to identify your own message boundaries.

How to add interaction to button that only appears in selected state of radio button?

This is my first time working with flash catalyst, so far it's going pretty good. There is only one thing that I cannot get the program to do:
I'm creating a quiz and I want a button to appear when the correct radio button is clicked. I've succeeded in making the button appear by putting it in the selected state of the correct radio button. But when I try to add the interaction 'go to next page' to this button, it doesn't work. It appears that the button is getting the same properties as the radio button it's connected to. When I put the button on the page and make it constantly visible (by taking it out of the selected state of the radio button), it does work.
Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?

Hi there,
For interactions, you can only target items within the current document (the object you are editing in place), or the top level application.
Panini is a bit more flexible with interactions, so you may want to try that out.

Mouse back/forward buttons don't respond after exiting from full screen Flash video

Yeah. Has anyone else encountered this? After viewing a full
screen video (YouTube, Hulu) and exiting (via the ESC button), the
back and foward buttons on my mouse stop responding. Really!
Usually I will have to go back into a full-screen video twice for
the buttons to get "stuck," and then it takes them several minutes
to regain their functionality.
I've had this going on for over a year now, and I'm finally
sick of it enough to where I want to get some help. I've narrowed
it down to the Flash player as being the culprit, and it happens on
every browser I've tried it on (Firefox 3: RC2, RC1, Beta5; Firefox
2; IE7; IE6; Safari 3.x). This started happening when I upgraded
the Flash Player and the first offending version would be the one
that introduced the current full screen Flash video technology. I'm
guessing it was 9.0.
I have a Logitech MediaPlay wireless mouse, Win XP SP2. I
have the latest version of Flash and the most up-to-date mouse
drivers.

The back button doesn't appear after doing a search.

When I move away from a search page, the back button doesn't activate, so I can not return to the search page. Once I go to a non-search page, the back button works normally again. It's only when I first start the browser and move away from a search page that I can't go back to the search page without performing a new search. Basically, I can't reach my initial search via the back button or the recent pages button.

im not sure but maybe this helps. I was opening links with right mouse button at FF3.6 and second option was open in new tab but at FF4 this option at first order. If you use same way as like me. your new tabs are new windows so there is no back option or refresh.
