Need general media manager. imedia ?!!

Hi,
I'm looking for a way or a software that would let me manage all my media (photo video, music, document) all in one place.
Like a bridge between iphoto, imovie, itunes, etc. The idea is that I could create albums, folders or events, and say for example that I want those specific photos, videos and music to be part of it.
It is a little like if I create an event in Final cut pro and put in it videos, photos and music that I need for a project so I can see, access then quickly and create the movie.
I could them create for example a family christmas 2012 event, see everything related to it. I could them simply import this events in imovie as one events, edit it and share it. It would make very quick and simple to organize, find, work with and share everything.
Is there a software that can do that?
Thanks

Media Pro 1 may do what you want.  It can catalog, videos, photos, Word, Excel, and iWork files, text files, pdf files, fonts, html files and more.  There's a demo version available (28 days I believe).

  • Do I need a media manager anymore?

In the document "Oracle Database 10g Release 2: A Revolution in Database Technology" at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/oracle10g/pdf/BWP_Overview_10gR2_060205.pdf Oracle says that "In Oracle Database 10g Release 2, the new Oracle Secure Backup tape archiving facility eliminates the need for 3rd party tape backup products".
Does this mean that I don’t need a media manager like Veritas NetBackup anymore?
I can’t seem to find anything about this in the new Release 2 documentation. Please would someone point me in the right direction.
    Gavin Rayner

The question really becomes, what else does NBU do for your organization and can the facilities in 10g r2 fill that need. For example, do you have other databases (DB2, SQL Server) that are backed up by NBU? Do you use advanced client features such as Flashbackup - the ability to back up millions of files at the speed of raw disk, but still have the ability to restore as individual files? There are many more features in NBU (or any other media manager as a matter of fact) than will be available in 10g r2 that need to be reviewed before making this type of decision.
Sure, you might be able to eliminate the media manager need from your ORCL dbms, but if you use NBU for other reasons, why would you want to manage 2 different tools based on the underlying technology (unless of course, there is no common way to meet that need)? That would only complicate a DR scenario where things are already complicated enough!

  • Emergency help needed re media manager

    Hi all,
Hopefully somebody can help me with this.
I am due to start an audio mix on a project for a client tomorrow. He currently has the FCP project on his Mac Pro but due to recording to a tascam portable recorder on set all his audio files are called audio1, audio2 etc. He has a folders on his drive with each days recordings so there are many folders which all contain files called audio1 etc.
I asked him to put his picture lock sequence onto an external drive using media manager but it doesn't seem to able to handle the audio files since there are so many with the same name from different folders so the external now has only one file with each name where on the picture lock sequence there are many audio clips called audio1 for example.
    I hope this makes sense.
Please post here if you can help me.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

If you have a media card in your BlackBerry then the easier way to transfer items to it is to just click on the My Computer icon and drag and drop them to the appropriate folder. Music to the \blackberry\music folder and so on. As for the problem with the Media manager, it should be remedied by installing the OS for your device to your computer.

  • Help needed with Media Manager

I recently purchased the Blackberry Curve, 8310 and downloaded the most updated version of Media Manager.  While connected to my PC with the USB cable, the desktop manager fires up, updates my email accounts, etc. and seems to be able to communicate with the Blackberry.  However, when I then open up Media Manager to transfer photos, it does not recognize the phone connection.  Any help in defining what I'm missing here would be appreciated.

  • Media Manager missing (not highlighted) in v4.7

My first blackberry - a Bold 9000 and V4.6 from the CD but had issues originally with PC syncronisation therefore loaded 4.7 from the web.  After much time spent on the phone with Orange (dialled 328) we got it working and all has been fine until today when I want to move pictures and video from the Bold phone to my PC.  The Media Manager is grey-ed out from V4.7. Any ideas what to do?

    1) you don't need the Media Manager if it's just to put some media files on your device :
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=3...
HOWTO : use your blackberry as a USB device
    2) if you really need the Media Manager, you have to uninstall your today Desktop Manager, and download the bundle "Desktop Manager + Media Manager". You can do that by clicking on the "SOFTWARE" button on top of this page, then on the bottom right corner for Desktop.

    hello,
you don't need the media manager to create & modify folders. Just connect through regular USB.

  • Roxio Media Manager Install Problem

I get the following error message when I try to run Roxio Media Manager from the Desktop Software:
"MediaManager9Module has stopped working correctly.  A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you when a solution is available."
I have done a lot of reading about this problem and most of the time users just tell the poster to use their Blackberry as a mass storage device.  If they do that they won't need Roxio Media Manager.  I want to use the Roxio because I have a lot of pictures and it's easier to upload them to the blackberry using Roxio - it utilizes a split screen with your computer pictures on top and your blackberry folders on the bottom... then as you browse through your pictures you just say "Copy down" and the picture goes to whatever folder you specify on the Blackberry.  I just got a 4GB stick to hold all my photos so believe me the Roxio technique is far faster for me.  I have successfully installed Roxio on my work computer a Dell XPS - it was a trial as well.  I had to uninstall everything and completely remove all "Roxio" files including the registry.  This did not work for the Acer though which is my home computer.  Right now the Acer has 4.5 installed (Roxio Media Manager did install) but when I try to click to access Roxio I get the above mentioned error message.
There are obviously a lot of people out there with this problem and no answer from Roxio or Blackberry (I called Blackberry who passed me off to Roxio who wanted me to PAY.)  I also tried contacting Roxio via email from their Roxio website - they said contact Blackberry... thus I get the runaround.  I just got this Blackberry (it cost me $432.) you would think something that expensive would come with software that... I don't know, works.  And if i didn't they would offer some kind of tech help here.  Totally pathetic.
    Hoping somebody has some insight....

Uninstalling and deleting all folders/files and registry entries named, RIM, Research in Motion, Roxio and Sonic worked to get Roxio Media Manager successfully installed and running on my Dell.  I had some “trial” version of Roxio on my computer that came with it when I bought it and when it expired it created problems when installing Roxio Medica manager.
That was not the problem and not the solution to get Roxio Media Manager installed and running on my Acer.  I tried the above, but I kept getting error messages after restart upon installing Desktop Manager due to some Roxio problem (I just didn’t know what.)  I would also get error messages when I tried to access Roxio from the Desktop Manager.   When I installed Desktop Manager on the Dell I used “Run as administrator” for the install but I do not have to right click and hit “Run as Administrator” every time I launch that program on the Dell to get any feature of it to run correctly including Roxio.  I do for the Acer – that was the problem… but it took some tweaking to get that to happen.  When I right click and hit “Run as Administrator” on the Acer the Desktop Manager would launch and it was able to read my blackberry when I plugged it in off the main menu.  But when I went to any other feature off the main menu, like Sync or Roxio, it would not read the Blackberry – in the top left corner of the program it went from “Connected” to “Disconnected.”  It also crashed the program several times and I had to bring up the Task Manager to quit the program because it had become “non-responsive.”  The only part of the Desktop manager (after trying repeatedly) that was able to still read the blackberry when I selected “Run as Administrator” was the “Add/Remove Applications” feature.  After it starting “seeing” the Blackberry from the Applications part the program I was able to go into Sync, and Roxio with it still able to “see” the Blackberry.  Then I was able to successfully run the Roxio part of the desktop manager.  Odd I know…
Both the Dell and the Acer run Vista Home Premium.  There were 2 separate problems causing Roxio to not install or run correctly.  Both problems should have been addressed by Blackberry or Roxio.  As I mentioned, I just bought this Blackberry and it cost me $432 – I am still somewhat in shock that a product that expensive comes with software that is literally up to the user to figure out how to run.  That there is no way to get Roxio or Blackberry to respond themselves with a fix for this common problem is unbelievable.  That we the user have to spend hour after hour troubleshooting when we should be enjoying our new blackberry is pathetic.  I feel like the company just said,  “Here, you figure it out.”  Nice, huh?
The Desktop Manager (including all its features) should be available to all Blackberry users… then each individual can make a knowledgeable decision as to which program, either Desktop Manager or using “Mass Storage Device” is the easiest or more efficient for them.
Hope this helps… just trying to pass along what worked for me…

  • Media manager, iMac, 10.4.11

Called the tech assistance - he said my Fios account was not set up for Media Manager and I needed to call billing - which I have not done as I don't believe there is any special approval needed for Media manager to work.  Also searched these forums and could not find any resolution.
I use the Verizon supplied router and connect my iMac wirelessly for internet - I also tried hard wiring but still did not resolve the problem
When I try to access MM via my TV, it gives a message "cannot locate PC".
Please advise, I could not determine if there is a firewall on my Mac blocking it.

Go to the Security icon in System Preferences and click on the Firewall tab and allow the incoming Verizon MM connection.  Once that is allowed, refresh the DVR menu and it will show up.  Then you will be able to become frustrated over the locking up when playing music, limited playback to MP3 and limited Photo settings.

  • Media Manager Needs to Go!

I downloaded a software update for Desktop Manager last week that caused some major problems-- like not being able to synchronize.  After several clean unistalls, system restores, deleting registry entries, and spouting numerous expletives, as of yesterday I'm back in working order with version 4.2.2.  I have an 8310, and Windows XP professional OS.  The installed the version of Desktop Manager without Media Manager, but my system still thinks it's here.
When I open any other program, the message "Please wait while Windows configures Roxio Media Manager"...and then after several minutes "Unable to find a certificate file".  Clicking OK sends it into the same loop again.  Eventually it goes away, but every time I open a new window within a program, it starts all over.
How can I get entirely rid of Roxio Media Manager WITHOUT doing anything else to Desktop Manager?  Thanks for any help!

You need open the Blackberry Desktop Manager and uninstall The Roxio from the Dektop Manager.
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.

  • Media Manager Problems in FCP--Need Help Quick!

I'm trying to package my short film to send to a color corrector. He wants it packed by "Media Manager," but whenever I try it, it keeps saying "Error, the specified file is locked." Help?

He probably just wants the sequence media managed, creating a new fcp project with just this sequence included.  Media manager usually requires all sources to have reel names assigned to them.  If you brought any material in digitally (graphic files, quicktimes, etc), you will need to add reel names for these files in the browser.  Once that's done, make sure the sequence is selected in the browser and go to file:  Media Manager.  Choose Copy Delete unused media from duplicated items and Duplicate selected items and place into a new project.  Questions?  You could post back or perhaps read the appropriate sections of the manual - or talk to your colorist.

  • Media Manager Video Support needed

With technology changing daily why can't we watch higher quality homemade videos on the tv?
I use sony vegas to make home movies. Instead of making dvd's, and since I have media manager so I can view photos and videos from my computer to my tv, I figured I could create a library of home videos with easy access. I'm figuring that dvd and blue rays will become a thing from the past and external storage is price just right with quick retrieval.
The problem, Verizon media manager  won't accept MPEG 2 files and if I'm correct is a dvd quality file.
Why can't media manager accept this file?
    Or
Do you have a better suggestion?

    The question is still relavant.
It's not like we are asking for obscure video codecs like Intel's Indeo.
We're talking MPEG2.. the DVD standard.
I've taken many DV renders from my camcorder and transcoded them into countless formats and few of them want to display in Meada Manager, the only one I got that maintained the correct aspect ratio was ffmpeg (mpeg-4). Even Divx and Xvid isn't working for me. MPEG2 would just be so much simpler.

  • Help! Do I need to use Media Manager to re-encode my AVI's so that the image is not so terrible?

I hired someone to take 16mm film and digitize it for me. He gave me AVI files, though I asked for MOV files. When I brought the AVI files into FCP, it said "use media manager to optimize this footage for FCP use." I (foolishly) didn't because I haven't had great success with Media Manager before, and the assets looked fine in FCP despite the warning. In truth, I am kindof intimidated by Media Manager... it's just not something I have ever had the opportunity to learn until now.
I have now edited the footage, exported from FCP in Quicktime MOV, imported into DVD Studio Pro, and burned a disk. PROBLEM: The image quality is terrible. I know it must have something to do with the warning I ignored. So now I'm looking at Media Manager and wondering how to proceed. I'm sure the warning told me what to do, but now that I can't see it again, I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with Media Manager... re-encode? After seeing poor quality images, re-encoding doesn't feel right... but maybe?
It's also possible that the problem isn't with the AVI's at all, but somewhere else. The DVD quality is poorer than the video playback in FCP, so somewhere along the line there was decay, and I'm assuming it was when FCP exported. I'm kindof freaking out. Any help would be great.
Also, my Compressor doesn't work anymore, so I'm screwed for using that.
    Thanks,
    RH

Much like the ubiquitous "QuickTime Movie" (.mov) file type, the AVI file type is merely a container.  The audio and video streams within that container could be made from a number of different codecs.
Most AVI codecs don't work in FCP natively, which means you will have to render more often than if you had converted the footage first to a FCP friendly codec.
If the video looked good in FCP, but bad on a finished DVD, chances are the quality loss was during the encoding process.  I assume you used DVD Studio Pro for encoding, since you say that Compressor doesn't work for you.  I'd look into getting that problem solved and then use Compressor to handle the encoding and just use DVD Studio Pro for authoring and burning.

  • Media Manager won't load

I just got a new curve 8320 and I've installed the Blackberry Desktop Manager v 5.0.1.18
It connects to my BB fine via usb cable but in Add/Remove Applications, it comes up blank with the message "No software is available for your device".
Also, when I try to install the Media Manager, it gets stuck at "downloaded 59.7MB out of (unknown)" and then the loading box just disappears. I've tried just reclicking the Install button and the same things happens.
I've tried to look online for the Media Manager file to download separately but nothing came up.
If someone could help me out that would be great. Thanks so much!

    Hi there!
    A couple of thoughts...
5.0.1.18 is an older version of DTM -- it is up to 5.0.1.28...I suggest you try the most recent version.
Media Manager -- only use a version of DTM/MM if you absolutely must. MM can be problematic and, if you don't need it, then grab a DTM version without MM.
There is no separate MM to DL -- the DTM package you grab (with or without MM) determines what you will have.
You might want to try these clean re-start instructions:
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.

  • Media manager mess

Am encountering an issue with "media manager" in FCP.
I wanted to create one master file for my latest project with all relevant clips and resources, so i made a "copy" of the project in media manager and then chose to "delete" (though not permanently) any material not used in the project.
Everything seemed to be fine but I wound up with a bizzare problem on the audio timeline line - audio seemed to cut and then repeat itself - as if a duplicate tack had been produced and then laid in 1 minute into the film.
Anyone know of this issue? Am trying the process again.
    Thanks
    Andy

The ProRes capture would be cleaner than DVCPROHD would be.
I'm not surprised deleting unused media was where the problem lied... truncating GOP structures is no mean feat I'll wager, and likely not a huge priority for the FCP team. After all, tape is disappearing and will be gone from the scene in fairly short order most likely... AVCHD makes more sense.. that way you'd have smaller files to begin with (not whole tape captures for example), and managing it would be a lot easier. But I'm digressing....
Even capturing to DVCPROHD will result in a lot larger files though smaller than the ProRes captures. I'd suggest maybe if you source HDV as HDV and just live with the MM problems, render to prores in your sequences (it's 40% faster than native HDV rendering), you'll not be as worried about the storage space not saved through media management because the files are so much smaller in the first place...? Dunno.. need to know more about your workflow in general to make a suggestion that really is based in something meaningful to your particular needs. But figure I should through out what I'm thinking.
