Need guidance on migrating CS5 from XP to Windows 7

Could anyone send me instructions on how to migrate to a new platform without losing your preferences, actions and any other files that I would have to move?

As I noted in my initial question, my plan is to leave all other partitions untouched.  My images will continue to be in exactly the same partition as before.  I just want to make sure I don't lose my tag and metadata information in the catalogue and I'll upgrade to PSE 8 (unless 9 comes out soon).
So, as long as Drive E (Images) stays as Drive E (Images), the catalogue will recognize the photos under W7 as it did under XP.  The conversion to PSE 8 should be a lot briefer than a full restore, correct?
This is an insufficient answer to my question. Drive E can remain drive E, and your partitions can remain the same, but you need to assure more than that. You need to assure that the exact folder names and paths remain the same. Maybe that's what you mean, but that's not what you said.
Assuming your folder names and paths have not changed, the conversion of the catalog will be quicker than doing a full restore.

    No. Use your CS5 disk to install CS5 onto your MacBook Pro.

  • Need help in migrating data from SQL Server to Oracle

    Hi,
    I've created a database link in my Oracle Database 11g Express Edition connecting to our SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Database. Now, I'm having issues on migrating some fields. Mostly Text field in SQL Server to CLOB in Oracle. I've created a PL/SQL Procedure to do this but somehow these columns don't get all the value.
    For example:
    In my sql server, I have a table SQLTBL with a field REMARKS of TEXT data type. It has the following value.
    This is line 1.
    This is line 2.
    This is line 3.
    Now I created a table ORCLTBL in oracle with field REMARKS of CLOB data type.
    In my procedure I do something like.
    begin
      for i in ( select "remarks" rem from "dbo"."sqltbl"@sqldb )
      loop
        insert into orcltbl ( remarks ) values (i.rem);
      end loop;
      commit;
    end;
    /When I select the data from oracle it will only show "This is line 1" and disregard the values after the new line character.
    Is there a way to make this work?
    Thanks,
    Allen

    Probably, assuming that there is only One record, SQL server is sending the data as separate rows as opposed to a Single Row.
    Can you provide the Output of below when executed from Oracle terminal? (I hope you understand the motive of query, and pardon my knowledge of SQL Server if the query below does not work :) )
    select count("remarks"), "remarks" rem from "dbo"."sqltbl"@sqldb group by "remarks";

  • Mac Virgin!  Need Help with migrating files from PC

    I am currently waiting for my Mac to be shipped to me and want to be prepared to transfer all of my PC files over once it gets here. I need to know if I need a cord of some sort (USB?) to connect the PC and Mac in order to do this.
    Thanks!

    Hi Winnie7779,
    If you purchased the MBP from Apple, you can take it and your PC to your local Apple Store, and they will transfer the files for you. If this is not an option, you should probably pick up a copy of Switching to the Mac The Missing Manual (http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596514129/index.html). This book was in invaluable resource for my switch earlier this year. It will answer many of your questions, and give you an offline resource to browse. As for your design files, if the program you used on Windows has a Mac version, the file shouldn't need any conversion, and will just open in the native program. In the case where there is no native program, the Mac version may have its own importing option. If there is no comparable Mac program, there is not much you can do on the Mac side. Fortunately, all recent Macs can run Windows, using a program like Parallels Desktop for Mac (http://www.parallels.com) or VMWare Fusion (http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/). These programs allow you run Windows in a window on the Mac Desktop, and then you could run your WIndows programs directly and use the files that way. Another and cheaper alternative is to use Boot Camp, which is included with Leopard, this will allow you to reboot and turn your Mac into a fully featured Windows PC. Good luck!

    Hi,
    Installing products from backup files may cause some issues,
    I would suggest you to give permission to SLStore folder under following location
    MAC HD > Library/Application Support/Adobe.
    Right click on SLStore folder
    Click on get info
    Click on symbol and Add Administrator and your current user name ( if not added )
    Then give read and write permission to user name, admin, system and every one
    Then click on Gear icon and select 'Apply to Enclosed
    Click on lock icon

  • Need guidance on switching career from dot-net to MSBI

    I want to switch my career from dotnet to MSBI.
    I am having more than one year of experience in dotnet technologies.I have good analytic skills and good programming skills.I am very interested in SQL Server.I want to learn MSBI,but i don't have any idea how to start?, which one need to start first among
    SSIS, SSRS, SSAS. Which is best in these three in MSBI?
    Is my decision is good in career selection?
    will i get the better opportunities MSBI with dotnet?
    Please suggest me on this...
    Thanking you......

    Hi Shaik,
    As per my understanding, I think you can start with SSIS. It features a fast and flexible data warehousing tool used for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). Then we can use SSAS to analyze and make sense of information possibly spread out
    across multiple databases, or in disparate tables. After that, then use SSRS that retrieve the data to display data in a report.
    Besides, we always use Script task that write with C# or VB code to implement some functions in SSIS. So it can be better benefit from your programming skills.
    Based on my experience, to begin with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), we should know what we can do with SSIS, the architecture of Integration Services, Integration Services Features and Tasks and how to design a package, deploy package and execute
    package. Then create some packages followed by some tutorials, post some threads in this forum to ask the problems you experienced or share some useful knowledge you acquired.

  • Migrating DB from SQL Server (Windows) to Oracle (Unix)

    I wish to migrate a SQL Server 2000 database on a Windows environment to an Oracle database on a Unix environment.
    Are there any issues with using the Oracle Migration Workbench to migrate a SQL Server database to Oracle between different operating systems?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi!
    After trying to migrate only a copule of schemas from sqlserver, my solution appeared by itself. It seems that something goes wrong if you migrate only selected users, so I build up a test instance in windows, made the workbench repository on it, and ran a full migration from all the users to this test environment.
    After this it was nice, cause I made an exp from the squema I wanted and imported it on production environment.
    PD: Migration logs only raised java related problems. I got quite crazy realizing what jdbc version I had, but it wasn't the problem.
    By the way, if you try to run sqlloader scripts, be careful with language issues, cause I had to reverse data loading because incorrect typos or so.
    Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Migrating Catalogue from XP to Windows 7

    I have a Windows XP computer with Adobe Elements version 6.  My programs and operating system are running on drive C and my photos are on a separate partition.  I’m going to reformat drive C, install Windows 7, and upgrade to Adobe Elements 8.  These activities will leave my partition containing all of my images untouched.  What’s the easiest, fastest way to restore my Adobe catalogue to its former state?

    As I noted in my initial question, my plan is to leave all other partitions untouched.  My images will continue to be in exactly the same partition as before.  I just want to make sure I don't lose my tag and metadata information in the catalogue and I'll upgrade to PSE 8 (unless 9 comes out soon).

  • How to only migrate data from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11?

    According to our requirement, We need to only migrate data from a SQL Server database to an existed
    Oracle database user.
    1) I tried to do it with SQL Developer 3.0.04 Migration Wizard, But find an issue.
    My SQL Server database name is SCDS41P2, and my Oracle database user name is CDS41P2;
    When I used SQL Developer to do offline move data by Migration Wizard, I found all oracle user
    name in movedata files which gotten by run Migration Wizard
    is dbo_SCDS41P2. If the Oracle user name is not the same as my existed Oracle user name,
    the data can't be moved to my existed Oracle user when I run oracle_ctl.bat in command line window.
    So I had to modify the Oracle user name in all movedata files, but it's difficult to modify them because there are many tables in
    databases. So could you please tell me how to get the movedata files which the oracle user name in them is my
    expected Oracle user name?
    2) I also tried to use the 'copy to Oracle' function to copy the SQL Server database tables data
    to the existed Oracle database user. When clicked 'copy to Oracle', I selected 'Include Data' and 'Replace' option
    But I found some tables can't be copied, the error info is as below:
    Table SPSSCMOR_CONTROLTABLE Failed. Message: ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object
    Could you please tell me how to deal with this kind of error?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Thanks for you replying. But the 'copy to oracle' function still can't be work well. I will give some info about the table. I also search 'SPSSCMOR_CONTROLTABLE' in the target schema, and only find one object. So why say 'name is already used by an existing object'? Could you please give me some advice? Thanks!

  • SAP Printer migration from AIX to windows

    Dear Experts,
    We migrated our ECC from AIX to Windows.
    We want to migrate printers from AIX to windows.
    Do we have to create queues from scratch in SPAD?
    Can we use existing queues in SPAD?
    Please guide what all steps are required.
    Your help will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Harry

    Hi Hary,
    For windows environment you need to change the spool server hostname in SPAD and activate all the relevant printers.
    Please check whether you had any network printers configured on AIX host. You can use command
    smitty spooler  or
    lpstat -W -p<queuename>
    If there are any spoolers configured for SAP system, you need to recreate them on windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Migrating data from Oracle 9i to SQL Server 2005

    I am new to both. I need to first migrate data from oracle to sql server. After this I need to create a daily nightly batch process to insert new records from oracle to sql server into that table.
    As my knowledge in SQL server is zero. Can somebody help me how I can accomplish this.
    Somebody told me that I can use sql server import/export to do initial data dump into sql server and after that I can create a link in in oracle to do new iserts for new records. does any one have some example on this. I will really apprecite this if someone can give me step by step example. Thanks

    I have been to SQL Server training, but my SQL server databases are off the shelf system, so I don't have to muck with them. Anyway, Sql Server is just MS Access on steroids, so some of the same concepts apply. You need to create an external table links to oracle. The following tidbits I found by googling might help you.
