Need guidance on upgrading RH5 Merged WebHelp project to RH8

I just upgraded from RH5 to RH8 to use with a new product my company is developing.  I have quite a large merged help project that I have been editing and reorganizing.  I have a version published and in use but I have an updated version about 75% finished.  I would like to do in RH8.  Is there anything I need to watch for or recommended method to upgrading each child and then the parent?  Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

  • Merged webhelp project problem

    Dear Sir,
    my problem is with merged Webhelp project. the links to
    external topics are not active in the master project, although
    these links work fine in the HTML help output.
    thanks.

    required is using conditional tags.
    Actually, my project was generated as HTML help project from
    the begining but for some reasons I need to convert it to webhelp,
    what I did is that I generated the whole project as webhelp. I did
    not know that creating links in webhelp is different from HTML
    help, if it is so, could you please tell me how.

  • Merging Webhelp Projects

    When merging two webhelp projects (in version 7), the
    subtopic is opening in a new window and the indexes are not merged.
    I looked it up in the help and there is a note at the bottom that
    says: "Merging WebHelp/FlashHelp projects with a pure HTML master
    project or Section 508 compliant WebHelp/FlashHelp causes the
    subprojects to be available only from the TOC. Subprojects will
    appear as a book in the TOC. Sub-project TOC books will open the
    subproject in a new browser window." That is exactly what I don't
    want to happen! I was able to do it in other versions easily. What
    other options do I have? All the options on the Navigation Pane
    Preferred Format tab includes PureHTML. Any advice will be
    great!

    There's a complete tutorial on my site.

  • Opening merged WebHelp projects

    I currently have a project that I just converted to WebHelp (stand-alone, not merged). In addition, I have another projected that I converted; this is used as a "merged" project and is merged into one mentioned previously.
    When I am in the stand-alone project and attempt to click a link to open a topic in the merged project, I am getting a second TOC. My question...is there a way to prevent a second TOC from appearing and just have the merged project topic appear in the frame like those from the "original" project?
    Please see attached screen shot for a better idea of what I am referring to.
    Thanks in advance for the assistance!

    It must be because of the way you are linking to the target topic.
    From another project it needs to be something like [path]index.htm#[path]targettopic.htm.

    document 146468.1 specifies how to upgrade to latest realese of 9i AS , but i want ot upgrade it to 10gYou cannot upgrade your Oracle 9iAS to Oracle AS10g, you can only upgrade it to 9iAS (1.0.2.2.2). For more details, refer to Note: 186981.1 (What versions of Oracle9i Application Server Release 1 can be used with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i) and (Can an existing Release 11i application server be upgraded to Oracle Application Server 10g?)
    If you want to have Oracle Applications Server 10g, you need to install it in a NEW ORACLE_HOME (Refer to Note: 233436.1 for more details).
    i am still confused for my AS version , how can i clarify that To determine the version, issue:
    UNIX: $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd -version
    Windows: %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Apache\apache.exe -version
    main components which i am using with my current AS are forms and reports serverOracle Developer 6i (Forms and Respports) are NOT part of Oracle Applications Server installation, it is installed under 8.0.6 ORACLE_HOME.

  • I need guidance on upgrading a PCI driver for my company.

    I am trying to update the code we have for our current PCI card. We manufactured this card in house. When I do a fresh install of windows 7 32 bit it will work as intended. After applying all the windows updates nothing seems wrong but you try and shut down
    the machine it blue screens and reboot.  The PCI card will work with our application fine. Its just something in a windows update that is causing it to blue screen when you try to shut the machine down. Currently this driver isn't digital signed  either
    lame I now do you think this would be one of the reason?
    This driver is in need of a face lift for sure. I am not sure how to go about doing this. I have the source. I need some guidance. I have started reading the resource provided here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff554678
    I have tried windows 8.1 and it just tells me fail and won't even install... So yeah its time to upgrade this driver. The unfortunate thing is the driver has passed through many developers. Not real guidance on the code or how it was compiled.  The
    driver also needs to work on 64bit as well.
    I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

    To get some idea on the blue screen enable the crash dumps for Kernel Memory Dump (under Advanced System Settings under System in the Control Panel).  Once you have the dump open it with Windbg and issue a !analyze -v command, if the crash is not obvious
    to you post the results to this discussion.
    On the driver you may want to consider migrating the driver to KMDF.  While this may look like more work it will actually make for a more robust and simpler driver.  Take a look at your drivers, IRP_MJ_READ, IRP_MJ_WRITE, and IRP_MJ_DEVICE_CONTROL
    this is the code from the current driver that would need to be migrated, the rest of the driver for the most part is pretty standard for any card.

  • Calling CSH in Merged webhelp

    This is more of a re-phrase than a new post: I've created a
    merged webhelp project (using Peter Grainge's excellent guidelines)
    and have two questions:
    1) Can someone point me to the spot in the RH help that
    discusses how to call webhelp using Map IDs from an application?
    2) My merged webhelp project has a parent and several
    children. Each of these still has its own .h file, right? How does
    that affect the Map ID lookup? (If I regenerate a child project,
    its .h file will be updated...do I need to copy that up, merge them
    together, or what?)
    Thanks,
    -Greg

    Just wanted to give a better description of my problem
    (thanks in advance):
    The source folders for my merged project have this structure:
    \rh_projects
    ..\parent
    ..\projects
    ....\child1
    ....\child2
    ....\child3
    I load each project and create Map IDs for CSH. We need to
    use Map IDs, I can't use the URL technique Peter Grainge describes.
    I make sure that each child project's map IDs start with a
    different base number (e.g., child 1 starts with 1000, child2
    starts with 2000). If I load and save each project, I get a .h file
    in the main project and for *each* child project:
    \rh_projects
    ..\parent
    ...BSSCDefault.h
    ..\projects
    ....\child1
    .....BSSCDefault.h
    ....\child2
    .....BSSCDefault.h
    ....\child3
    .....BSSCDefault.h
    The .h files look something like this (not real names, but
    you get the idea):
    For \parent:
    <empty file>
    For \child1:
    #define child_1_topic_1 1000
    #define child_1_topic_2 1001
    For \child2:
    #define child_2_topic_1 2000
    #define child_2_topic_2 2001
    For \child3:
    #define child_3_topic_1 3000
    #define child_3_topic_2 3001
    When I generate and publish, I get the following directory
    structure:
    \rh_generate
    ..\mergedProjects
    ....\child1
    ....\child2
    ....\child3
    ..\whdata
    ..\whgdata
    ..\whxdata
    (Same structure when you publish.)
    If you try to test the output with the CSH Test tool at this
    point, you won't be able to, because you're prompted for a .h file.
    Generating does *not* copy any of the .h files to the output
    folder...you have to do this manually. Well, I want to use the .h
    files anyway, so that's OK. Question is, which files do I copy, and
    where?
    Since I was careful to keep the IDs unique in each project, I
    decided to merge them into a single file and put it at the
    \mergedProjects level:
    \rh_generate
    ..\mergedProjects
    ...BSSCDefault.h
    ....\child1
    ....\child2
    ....\child3
    ..\whdata
    ..\whgdata
    ..\whxdata
    This merged .h file looks like this:
    #define child_1_topic_1 1000
    #define child_1_topic_2 1001
    #define child_2_topic_1 2000
    #define child_2_topic_2 2001
    #define child_3_topic_1 3000
    #define child_3_topic_2 3001
    I then fired up the CSH Test tool, selected the merged .h
    file, and it *almost* works. Choosing any map ID shows the correct
    topic, but not in the three-pane window. Instead, I see only the
    topic with the "Show" link in the upper left corner. I want the
    correct topic to appear in the three-pane window.
    Any ideas?
    -Greg

  • Merged Webhelp - TOC doesn't display

    Hello all,
    I have generated a merged webhelp project as per the instructions at:
    http://www.wvanweelden.eu/blog/2013/02/28/adobe-robohelp-creating-merged-webhelp
    The output help file is quite large. I can run it without issues on my PC. However, when I copy it to a server, it does load, the TOC pane appears empty until I click around a few times in the help. Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks!

    First off, make sure that the optimization in your layout is set to web
    site.
    Now for some more info: Which version of RoboHelp are you using?
    Last, make sure to look at

  • Safari browser issue when calling Merged Webhelp

    Hi All,
    I am using Robohelp 8.0. I am creating a merged Webhelp project and calling the help as context sensitive from the web application using the Topic ID.
    What Happens:
    Calling webhelp with parent_csh.htm#<productID> work fine in Firefox, IE browsers.
    When I try to call the topic in Safari browser on Mac OS, it opens the topic section correctly as shown below:
    when I click the Show link on the top of the page to view the TOC, it gives me a page cannot be displayed error as shown in screenshot below:
    NOTE: It still works well in Firefox on the same Mac computer.
    What is not working:
    * Error occurs when the show link is clicked in help page in Safari 5.0 browser.
    * Same error reported even when I include "withnavpane=true" in the parent_csh.htm#<topic id> to show the TOC.
    Questions:
    * Is Robohelp 8.0 is compatible with Safari browsers in Mac?
    * Is there a way to show the TOC of the webhelp in Safari?
    * Why Safari interprets the '#' to %23 and why the link does not work in Safari alone even it works in Firefox on the same machine?
    Let me know your thoughts and awaiting a resolution from sharp heads of Robohelp.

  • Linking between projects in merged WebHelp

    I have a merged WebHelp (created using RoboHelp 10) that has several child projects. I now need to have the same topic in two child projects and I want to prevent duplicate maintenance.
    I tried making the topic a snippet and adding the snippet to the Resource Manager; however, when the snippet is updated in project A, the snippet in project B doesn't reflect the updates. The only other alternative I could think of is linking the topic from project A to project B.
    So that leads me to my question - how can you update project A so that when the user clicks a topic, it automatically displays the topic from project B (but without leaving the frame of project A)? Is there a better method to accomplish this?
    Thank you in advance for your help, I GREATLY appreciate it!
    Nikki

    Weird. I just exported a Snippet from Project 1 to Resource Manager and then dragged it into Project 2 where I made a change. That put the red icon on RM until I hit sync. I then when back to Project 1 and, as you say, the snippet was not updated in the project or showing that it was out of sync. Here's the weird bit. I then added the snippet from RM to another topic and it came with the amendment and updated the first snippet. Weird bit 2 is it seems to be working OK now although it was a quick test really needing a few more attempts.
    Might be worth you pursuing this to see if you can get it working.
    Otherwise the topic in Project B could be a Redirect to the one in Project A. That would only be practical if you always supply all the projects in the merge.

    Do you have $50? You could become a subscriber to the Creative Cloud for that and get the very latest version of AE (which is version 12.2 right now, whereas CS5.5 is version 10.5). You would get access to the Roto Brush, the 3d camera tracker, and a Lite version of Cinema 4D along with a ton of other enhancements and new features!
    Adobe is only selling CS6 (version 11) these days and renting both CS6 (version 11) and CC (version 12).
    For free you could download CS6 or CC and use the trial for 30 days.
    Alternatively, you could download a trial of CS5.5 (down this page somewhere: http://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl) and use it for the next 30 days.
    Another option: you can look for third-parties selling their copies of CS5.5, but beware of shady people selling pirated software.

  • Need to disable script or ActiveX control in WebHelp project

    Two of our WebHelp projects display the following two
    messages prior to loading the first page:
    1) "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has
    restricted this file form showing active content that could access
    your computer. Click here for options."
    2) "It seems javascript is disabled in your browser, please
    enable it abd reload again, or click here to view without
    javascript."
    I don't know my way around well enough in RoboHelp to solve
    these problems. I've read that you can disable the ActiveX issue
    through options in the Windows Control Panel, but that is not a
    valid resolution for these customers, as that will pose security
    vulnerabilities. Not sure either about how to enable javascript, as
    indicated in the second message.
    Obviously there is something in these WebHelp projects that
    cause these messages to display. I want to address the issues at
    the project level - not the OS level. Is there a way to search a
    WebHelp project foe embedded ActiveX controls and java scripts that
    may cause these messages, and then figure out a way to change this
    behavior?
    I am using RoboHelp HTML, version 5.0.2, build 801, and
    generating the primary layout as WebHelp. I've played with the
    Preferrred Format options when I generate the project, but nothing
    has solved the problem yet.
    Any suggestions? Help! This novice is stumped.

  • Issue with Mark of the Web, PDFs, and merged WebHelp

    I'm sure this has come up before, but I can't locate the definitive answer.
    I am using RH8 and have a merged WebHelp system containing a parent projects and 10 or so child projects.  Previously, when I generated the WebHelp projects, I selected the Mark of the Web check box for the parent and all the children. Everything seemed to work fine.
    Now, I've been asked to create a new child project with links to a large number of PDF files. After reviewing the documents on this forum, I realized I needed to (1) unselect Mark of the Web to see the PDFs in the generated output and (2) change my IE settings to Allow Active Content to Run from Files on PC. Unfortunately, while I can now see PDFs just fine, my merged help is no longer working correctly--the link from the parent topic to a project generated w/o Mark of the Web no longer works. That is:
    If Mark of Web selected:
         PDFs don't work
         merged help does
    If Mark of Web not selected:
         PDFs work
         merged help does not
    How can I make everything work?
    Thanks.

    Are you testing locally?
    Have you tried after publishing to the server? If not do so as that will likely make the difference.
