Need guidance selecting module for training

hi friends,
I have done my Bachelor of engineering in computers and after that i have worked as a developer in an MNC. After that i have done my MBA in Systems and IT.I had knowledge of ITIL project management but nothing majorly of marketing or finance .Now i am selecting in a big MNC where i am going to be trained on any one functional module of my choice from limited choice.
Being a IT guy i am totally confused as to which module to select .I need some advice which module will be best suited for me.what is the current trend which module is in hot demand.I am sure i dont like FICO module but other than that all modules seem to be domain specific.
Is there any module which will be useful for an IT guy.?

Learning functional module by training or books is just gaining theory knowledge. In order to understand various industry terminology and business processes either you should have worked in different industries or you get by experience.

Regarding parameters in the selection module for Datasource

I created the datasource and selection module.
Since the table parameters are no longer supported in the system ,i used changing parameters instead for selection module.
But in the generated call_select_function it is still using the table parameters to call the selection module and raising an error 'parameter is not defined' error
Please let me know how can i resolve this issue

Steps for Creating DataSource based on Function Module
Tables Tab:

i) Parameter Name = I_T_SELECT; Associated Type = SRSC_S_IF_SIMPLE-T_SELECT
ii) Parameter Name = I_T_FIELDS; Associated Type = SRSC_S_IF_SIMPLE-T_FIELDS
iii) Parameter Name = E_T_DATA; Associated Type = 'Like your extract structure'
Please NOTE: Please make sure that you have a tick on 'Optional' for all of the above. Also 'Type Specification' for E_T_DATA will be 'LIKE' but for the other two it will be 'TYPE'.

I receive message FL069 "TABLES parameters are obsolete!".

I could not exit the tables tab once the warning message was displayed.
However, I have since discovered that you don't need to specify the type spec and the associated type at all.
You can just leave them blank and only specify E_T_DATA in the Parameter Name.
The extractor seems to work just fine.

Please run the report 'ZRECTIFY_FM_DOCUMENTS' in your system.
Before running the report, create the following selection texts for the parameters/select-options as given below:
P_BUKRS: Company code
S_GJAHR: Fiscal year
S_BELNR: FI document no.
P_TEST: Test run

I need a function module for processing idoc

i need a function module that can be used for processing of idocs. The name of the fm should be Z_AS4_IDOC_INPUT_SHPMNT you should create functiongroup ZAS4 as copy of group ZS40. The functionmodule should be build on the basis of Z_S_IDOC_INPUT_ZSDELV.
Messagetype: ZASHPMNT
Idoctype: SHPMNT05
Partner: ASSIST
The purpose is to check the delivery number in Segment E1EDL20, to find the invoice in the documentflow and to select an message record of this invoice in tha table nast.

Need Different Selection screen for different Queries in a Workbook

Hi,
I have created a workbook with Multiple tabs in BI 7.0. Each Tab has different Queries and each query has different Selection screens (Variable Selections).
When i open the workbook and refresh it, the selection screen is appearing only for one query. All the queries are refreshed by this single selection screen, though each query has different Variable selections. What i need is a seperate selection screen i.e seperate Variable selection appearing for each queries, when i refresh each one of them.
Is it possible to do this? If anybody has tried this, help me in solving this issue. Thanks for ur time.

If you un-check the 'Display Duplicate Variables Only Once' this WILL solve your problem.
When you Refresh, you should be presented with a single variable selection dialog box, but it should contain an area for each Query (DataProvider) that is embedded in the Workbook.
This is the case if the queries are all on the same tab, or on different tabs.
However, if you have multiple tabs each with a query on it, each query must have it's own DataProvider. If all queries are based on the same DataProvider, it will not work as the Workbook only 'sees' one Query for which it needs variable input.
If you REALLY want multiple variable selection dialog boxes, then maybe the best way to do this is to have the queries in separate Workbooks.
If you don't want the User to have to open 5 queries manually, you could use a Macro in each Workbook that runs on opening, to open the next Workbook in the sequence.
I hope this makes sense!

Hello,
Function module MD_PEGGING_NODIALOG works with data structures of MRP list or current requirements/stock list. For a given material, you first need to fetch the relevant structures by the help of following FMs; BAPI_MATERIAL_MRP_LIST and BAPI_MATERIAL_STOCK_REQ_LIST. You can loop at the structures exported by these FMs and run MD_PEGGING_NODIALOG with the corresponding parameters of the MRP element you require. You can run MD_PEGGING_NODIALOG with any MRP element you like as in MD04 and MD05 transactions.

Need SMD function module for business partner in SRM

I am looking for standard Master Idoc create SMD function module for business partner in SRM.
I need to send an Idoc from SRM to ECC based on change pointers i.e. whenever a business partner is changed in SRM. So there are standard function modules *smd* available for other data but i am not able to find any FM for busienss partner.
Please suggest if anyone has came accross such scenario.

My friend has close to seven years of domain experience in Quality Assurance relevant to Process definition(tailoring), training, implementation and conducting audits by supporting the following verticals - Financial Services, System Software, Semi, Information Management, Aerospace, Automotive, CAD, Application related projects and support functions (like Procurement, HR and Training, System Administration)
He has worked for companies like HCL, Capgemini and EDS.
He wants to change his career track and come into SAP. He has been getting ambiguous suggestions and advises from authorised training centres and others on selecting the module. He has been advised to take up SD / MM / QM / PS. Could anyone please advise which module he would fit into.

My friend doesn't belong to an engineering background and had not worked in a manufacturing environment.
He holds an MBA degree specialised in systems and has worked in software companies supporting software projects and the functions(like HR,Procurement in the same setup) as a software quality guy.
Moreover the modules mentioned by you requires engineering background with manufacturing exposure.
He had enquired for the course at siemens and they said that he may not be suitable for any of the modules offered by them as per the above reasons.They also mentioned that they have to check with SAP Labs for expert opinion.
Please provide your inputs.

Select module for resistance measurment

Hi,
I I would like to measure a componant that have a 3-5 Ohm resistance.
Change in the resistance value during my experiment is 0.003 Ohm.
Using DMM is not prefered becouase it has only 1 channel and i don't want to use switching card in addition to the DMM.
So I m looking for the correct modules selection that will allow me to measure the resistance change using 4 probe methood.
That means a current source and analog input modules.(can be one if possible)
For this I need a stable current source and hi resolution Volt analog input modules.
the requirments are:
1) not more then 10mA current (avoid heating of the componant)
2) 8 channels (more is good).
3) sampling rate max 100 Hz can be less down to 10 Hz f it help to reduce cost.
4) Effective resolution (after accuracy,stability,offset temperature drift and noise(in the bandwith in 3) of 0.05 to 0.1 mOhm.
5) enviromental temperature where the equipment will be used is 25+- 5 degree.
I hope there a modules that can fit this requirments, if not i would be happy to know what is the nearest that possible.
I understand that PXI is the best platform for this but other platform is also possible.

I am looking for a function module that gives the descriptions of a field. Please suggest a way.

Use FM DDIF_FIELDINFO_GET to get information about a field. Pass table name and Fieldname.
Use FM DDIF_FIELDLABEL_GET if you need only the field label.
Use FM DDIF_TABL_GET for getting information of all fields of a particular table.

I want a function module which calculate the week number.
Suppose for date 04.05.2010
week is 19...........
i want to fetch through function module.
i have already tried function module like GET_WEEK_INFO_BASED_ON_DATE & DATE_GET_WEEK
throgh both function module output is come out is 18.
but i need 19.
when i pass 02.01.2010
then it giving 53 week of 2009.
plz. help me as soon as possible.

Jan 2 2010 was indeed 53rd week of 2009, so SAP FMs are returning right value. I would strongly recommend to consult your functional consultant before assuming Jan1 2010 as week 1 of 2010.

Need standard Function Module for Get price from KONP

Hi All,
I need to code for the following logic
1) Select access sequence code from T685 (field KOZGF)
2) Using this code get an access sequence tables from table T682I(field KOTABNR). There is a number in this field which is a table name if to add letter 'A' before it. This table name is a table where you can find condition records. Every condition table has got field 'KNUMH' which is a reference to condition rate table.
3) Select condition rate from table KONP (field KBETR)
4) Select scale rates if you are using them from table KONM (field KBETR).
Just want to ensure, if there is any standard FM which can help in above logic.I got a FM 'SD_COND_ACCESS'. But not sure, how it can help me?

I do have Access Sequence with me, it is Z011. here i am writing more details, I do have material number.Here article means Materail number.
o     Determine the merchandise category for the article in the list from MARA-MATKL
o     Determine the department for the article from first 3 characters of MARA-PRDHA
o     Determine the vendor for the article from EINA-LIFNR where EINA-MATNR = article in list and EINA-RELIF = X
o     Now use the access sequence Z011 (table T682I) to determine the A tables and sequence in which in these table must be read for determining the condition records.
o     Use table T682Z to determine which fields must be used to read the A tables above (in T682I).
o     The A tables must be read using condition types Z006 (margin) and Z007 (discount) where the Order Book effective date is between the valid-from and valid-to dates in the A- table, and in the sequence according to table T682I. When a condition record is found, the program must stop reading the subsequent tables, and determine the discount or margin from table KONP-KBETR, where KONP-KNUMH = A table-KNUMH.
     If the condition type is Z006, KONP-KBETR is positive. For condition type Z007, KONP-KBETR is negative.
     Divide KONP-KBETR by 10 to give KBETRX. Retain sign in KBETRX.
     Calculate the discounted / price with margin as follows:
(1 + (KBETRX/100)) * wholesale price.
Is it possible to get above logic by standard FM.

Need a function module for commit

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement of displaying a PO report in alv and when the user clicks the po it showed navigate to ME23N to display the PO.
Here the user can go in change mode to change some details in po, and when he returns back, the report should show the changes in the PO.
I am able to update the report once the user return back to the report from ME23N.
But only thing is there is a lag(5 Secs) of updating the database table when the user saves the PO.
So we need to commit once the user return to the report and then fetch the data from database.
I tried to use the " Commit work Statement" but it does't update as early.
can some one please telll me some commit Fucntion module which can update the ME23N related tables qiuckly.?

As we talk about a standard transaction here, the COMMIT is included in the standard transaction, so it does not make any sense to do it once more in an FM, or directly in the ABAP program (not mentioning that the LUW is closed already, so there is nothing to commit...)
On the other hand, the replies with WAIT UP TO ... are very strange, because now the time is 5 seconds, but next time it could be 7 seconds, who knows... this is not a stabile solution.

I am trying to tune this query since 2 days,but not able to understand where to change & why it is taking that much time.

Add the NOCYCLE clause to your connect by statement CONNECT BY NOCYCLE PRIOR
