Need guideline to extend PDF's submit function

Hi,
Below is my problem:
I want to distribute a form to users and have them send the results back to the server by calling a web service(click the button), rather than the typical HTTP post or mailto.
I have posted and got some precious information via belw thread, thanks so much to Bibhu, Johnson and Myers.
http://forums.adobe.com/message/5188441#5188441
Seems I need Reader Extended (LC) or  Adobe PDF Java Toolkit, but i have no idea how to achieve that.
Can anybody give me some guideline?
I can't purchase this produce at this moment since the user will only allow to purchase one after I show them the real effect.
Bibhu sent me the extended PDF and it is fully filfulled the requirement, but I can't extend the other PDF right now.
Is there any trial version or solutions?
Thanks.
Sorry for I am new in this Forum, am I posting another thread for help or is it the correct way to connect the Adobe help?

LiveCycle Reader Extensions product page: http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/server/readerextensions/ (don't know why this is hard to find, it is the second hit in Google after Wikipedia).
As for the forum, it's the first hit in google: http://www.google.com/search?q=livecycle+reader+extensions+forum
The ehow page has several errors I can see without knowing much about the product, best to ignore it.
There is no simple download link, as if often the case with high-end enterprise software. On the product page there is a link Contact a sales rep. Talk to your sales rep about pricing and demos.
I've also found the Java toolkit that was mentioned. This is licensed by Datalogics using the Adobe technology. See http://www.datalogics.com/news/pr201210reservices.asp

  • Problem saving Reader extended PDF with Javascript functions built in

    Afternoon
I have created an interactive PDF in Livecycle with built in Javascript functionality.  I need users to be able to complete and save the PDF so have saved it as a Reader extended PDF.  The problem I'm having is that when a user completes the form, saves it, and then opens it again the Javascript functionality is not showing despite showing the original selection that the user has made.  The Javascript is simply a dropdown menu that will show a different table based on the selection so isn't anything major.
I've trawled forums and this is driving me mad so I'd appreciate some help.
I am using Adobe Pro XI.
    Thanks in advance

  • Need to create a PDF with submit button for Wordpress Website.

I need to create a restaurant's employment application in PDF form with fields that user can fill out and a submit button to send the form to a specified email. I then need to put this PDF online on client's website. Is this possible with ID?

Yes, but you may have to tweak it in Acrobat Pro.
That said, you may be better off just creating the form right in the
site. My guess is that there are a ton of WordPress plugins to do this.

  • Embedding video in PDF, keeps says it cant convert and need Acrobat Pro Extended?

I have Acrobat Pro 9 and with using the tool to embed video which seems to convert to a flash format, it keeps coming back saying its unable to convert and that I would need Acrobat Pro Extended.  I tried a handfull of different video types and every one that I chose gave me the same message.  All it will seem to do is somehow link to the video whcih will use the viewer installed on that persons computer to run.  It seems to give you the ability to convert video over but it doesnt let you for anything you choose, what am I doing wrong?
I have Acrobat Pro 9 Extended at work which I tried the same thing with and of course, that worked.  Is the Extended part by any chance just a patch for Pro 9 or is it a totally different purchase?

"Add multimedia to PDFs" at Acrobat Pro's LiveDocs may help to clarify.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Professional/WS65B80E79-F165-44f0-BBCA-0F142A75869 6.html
Looks like the following general observations apply.
If the multmedia file(s) meet the identified requirements for Professional it is "in".
If the multimedia file(s) do not, then conversion is required - but conversion is only available in Pro Extended.
That you get a "need conversion" message, from Pro that would be indicative of an input that does not meet the specified requirements for direct use in Pro.
An alternative might be to try "Create Legacy ..."
Legacy multimedia will rely on the end-user having the appropriate player application installed.

  • Why are calculation functions lost from Reader Extended PDF when downloaded from website?

I am creating PDF forms with most fields performing calculations. I am saving the forms out as Reader Extended PDF> Enable Additional Features. When I email the form there is no problem with the person using the form, all calculations work. The person is able to save the form and all info is present.
However, when the same file is posted on a website with a clickable link to download, once downloaded, all the calculation functions are missing from the fields. Additionally, when the user fills the form out anyway, the info in the fields is invisible.
I am on a MAC OS 10 using Acrobat X Pro. The majority of the people going to the website and using the forms are on Windows. What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like you're actually using the Preview application when viewing the form on your Mac. It does not support JavaScript, which is how the automatic calculations are implemented. It also corrupts forms when it saves them. A result of this corruption is when the form is subsequently opened in Acrobat/Reader, the fields are blank unless a field has the focus. • Saving a .pdf Created in Flare9 as Reader Extended PDF

When I first installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro and built .pdfs from Flare, I was able to save the .pdf with the "Reader Extended PDF" function. Now, that capability is no longer available and in order to access this feature I must save the .pdf and open X Pro, open the saved document and save, again, as X Pro. However, the actual commenting feature seems to be "hosed," and, in my capacity as a technical writer, this has gotten a bit frustrating. Is there something in the properties of X Pro that I need to reset? Thank you.

Not sure I understand the isssue. How were you building PDF files from Flare and getting a "Reader Extended PDF"?  Was this a menu or option in Flare?  For Acrobat it's always been either Save as [Extended Option], Send for Shared Review, or LiveCycle Reader Extension Server to get an Extended PDF file.  Also, if your users have Adobe Reader XI, they can comment with Sticky Notes and Highlighters by default now.

  • PDF form  in "extended PDF Reader"

I create a PDF form and save it as "extended PDF Reader", enabling additional features.
When I open it with Acrobat Reader, the first time I can save, but when I open it a second time, not to save directly but asks me to save with another name. Can I avoid this "save as", each time it
    opens the document?
    I use Acrobat X.

I've already extended the rights and made sure to save to activate that... as well as password protected the docs etc... still nothing...
I am aware that those with Basic Adobe Reader need rights extended to be able to use functions available to Adobe Pro.

  • Security of data in extended PDFs

I am anticipating a project in which external users would download extended PDFs from our web site and fill them in and submit them, at which time the data would be written to an internal SQL db. Much of the data to be submitted is confidential business information. How secure is the data in transit, and if it is not, how can it be made secure?

To make the data secure, as with any other web submission like credit
card numbers on a web store, use a secure server and httpS rather than
    http.

  • File Save As Other Reader Extended PDF Enable Commenting & Measuring GRAYED OUT

I have an PDF form created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 10.0.
When I open in Reader, All the "Sign" options are grayed out.
Under "Properties" Signing is allowed but Commenting is not.
From all I have seen, I hope that allowing Commenting will allow me to use the sign features.
The only solution I'm finding on the internet is below:
File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Commenting & Measuring
It is grayed out in my (latest version of) Acrobat pro.
**Is there a way to make this option available?**
**Will this even solve my problem?**
**Is it possible that it is impossible to use these features on this document?**
At this point, I've spent about two and a half hours on this issue and haven't been able to find a solution. Very frustrated.
    Thanks.

Thanks. I'm not an IT person and needed that lead.
In the end, I just printed to Adobe PDF and then was able to use the commenting options (once I had flattened it). For those who might come across this - this is one of the only ways to flatten a XFA PDF.

  • Form Creation in Acrobat X Pro - unable to save as Reader Extended PDF

I am using Acrobat X Pro on the Windows 7 OS. I have created a document in Word (Office 2010), saved it as a PDF and added form fields. When I try to Save As Reader Extended PDF, the options are grayed out. How do I create a form from a Word document that allows all end users to be able to type in the fields, use a digital signature, save a copy and print the PDF with the completed fields?

In create the document in MS Word and save the file. Then I select print, and choose Adobe PDF as my printer to save it as a PDF. I then open the PDF file and select Tools, Forms, to create the form and add fields as needed. After I'm finished, I attempt to "Save As" and try to select Reader Enabled PDF, but the options are grayed out and unavailable.

    Hi team,
I have exactly the same issue as was discussed here (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/865292)
But I have lecensed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
I use Create Form from Existing Document (no securyty restructions - see pictures below).
I was able to use that functionality (Save As Reader Extended PDF) once and than saving options became grayed out with any document (pdf, doc including the one I used originally) as a template.
    Could you please help me?
    Thanks,

  • Save file for Reader Extended PDF

I created a form in Acrobat 9 Pro for a Customer who is using Reader 7 and they are unable to save text that they type in the form...which is the whole point of the forms they needs.
I've done some research and it all says that I need to save my form as a Reader Extended PDF, but that isn't an option when saving my files (and my form is closed for editing).
The only options I have under save as are as follows: Adobe PDF Files; Adobe PDF Files, Optimized; Encapsulated PostScript; HTML 3.2; HTML 4.01 with CSS 1.0; jpeg; jpeg2000; Microsoft Word Document; PDF/A; PDF/E; PDF/X; PNG; PostScript; Rich Text Format; Tables in Excel Spreadsheet; Text (Accessible); Text (Plain); tiff; XML 1.0
I'm sure there is something that I'm missing, and if someone could help point me in the right direction I would be very greatful, as would my customer.
    Thank you in advance,
    Tiffany

That worked, but now I'm having a different issue.  If you know why that would be amazing. As stated before my customer is using Acrobat Reader 7.  When they open the file they are getting an error message, but after cliking ok are able to open it and type in the document. When they save the file and open it back up the text is still there, but the form aspect of the file is gone, and it's just a normal PDF.  They need to be able to use the form multiple times in case information changes they need to be able to edit it.  Does she just need to upgrade to another version of reader?
    Any insight would be appreciated.

  • Created a form in Forms Central. Exported the PDF with Submit Button Option. When the PDF is filled out and submit clicked, it comes back asking for required fields to be filled but they already are. Any Help?

    b

    Hi;
OK - I can clarify some things and tell you how to do what your looking for.
The desktop FormsCentral application tools are really designed towards create forms that do collect data on FormsCentral servers.  You can still easily create PDFs that do not submit data to FormsCentral, but you'll have to add any alternative submit functionality using the Forms tools in Acrobat.  You can create a PDF without the submit button in either case, signed in/out of the Desktop Application from the "File" - "Save as PDF Form" menu item.  You can then modify the PDF in Acrobat XI Pro by doing a "Save A Copy", when you open the copy you can edit it any way you like, adding a "Submit" button that email's the PDF/Responses back to you...
Here's how: In Acrobat open the PDF you saved from the FormsCentral Desktop application and go to "File" - "Save a Copy" and choose a location, this will remove the security.  Open up the copy you just created and you can now edit it, here is a YouTube video tutorial using Acrobat XI, he covers the email button in about two minutes, there are lots of tutorials out there but this one is easy to follow:,
