Need guidence on WebDynpro??

I currently have a requirement to start with webdynpro development,i am quite comfortable with portal but not on the side of Webdynpro,So anybody can guide me to learn the basics of webdynpro so that i can start developing into it??

Needs a background webdynpro application running at the server side

Hi All,
We have a requirement wherein we need to have an application running all the time at the server side to capture the response coming from a web application. Based on the response that the application receives, it needs to update some backend R/3 tables.
We are thinking of a webdynpro java application.
Can anyone suggest what kind of application needs to be implemented here?
And what would be the steps required to run the application at the server side without calling the application.

Thanks for the detailed explaination.
This may sound silly to you but I've another doubt which is as follows:
As you mentioned that the external web application will be sending requests to our Web service(in SOAP envelopes) and rest of the functionality can be achieved by our web service.
Actually, we are expecting only responses from the external web application. The thing is that we are sending the requests to the external web applications from our custom webdynpro application and in return the web application will be sending us 2 responses.
First response would be back to our WD java application URL(to the browser in which WD java app is running) which would get the response and display some message based on the response.
Second would be to this web service which you have just suggested. We are having two responses so that even if the browser in which the WD java application is running gets accidentally closed, the response from the external web application must get captured somewhere else and should not get lost in any case.
So, now since we are only expecting the response from the web application and we do not want any requests from the web application to our web service; how is this possible?
I am asking the above question because you have mentioned that the external web application has to request our Web service but we want is only this web service to capture the response coming from the Web application.
Or is it like the web application will send us the response string as request string to our Web Service and the web service will capture these response parameters as request parameters from the web application and do the further processing.
But in that case, we do not want any response to be sent by the Web Service to the external web application.
Please suggest if this is possible.

If you are using ABAP APIs then normal ABAP knowledge will come in handy
If u want to connect your MDM server to a portal system, then Portal knowledge will come in handy
Even the basic MDM scenarios are generally done by using Exchange Infrastructure
so basic knowledge of that is essential

Is there any config needed to develop webdynpro on ECC6.0

Is there an special config thats need to be done on ECC 6.0 to develop and run webdynpro ?

SAP NetWeaver" upto creating views. It suppose to prompt for password according to the tutorial but it doesn't prompt for password.

Experienced Oracle DBA want to become Apps DBA and need guidence

Hi Apps Gurus,
I am an experienced Core Oracle DBA having 7 years of experience in Oracle Database Administration. I have always been interested in Apps DBA but never got suffient time to pick that up. This time I have taken a months's leave to be able to spend time and gather Apps DBA knowledge. I need a thorough knowledge in Apps including the very basics and architechture. I dont want to jump into advanced skills without having my basics strong. Please guide me with steps/milestones to be identified and achieved. I would appreciate if somebody can give me an idea regarding how much time it generally takes to pick up to a level where the candidate can work as an Apps DBA.

New to macs need guidence on what macbook pro to get for video & photo

I see there are alot of what looks like good deals on ebay for macbookpros, is ebay a safe place to get a mac book pro? If I get one with OS leopard from ebay, can I get a discount or free upgrade to snow leopard?
among the features I have read about snow leopard, it has a "put back" feature for accidental deletions, does leopard have anything like this?
I am in California, if I get a macbookpro directly from mac online or a mac store do I pay tax? like a regular electronics store? why dont macs ever go on sale? they seem to be the same price all over.
what would be the bare minimum in specs to get in a macbookpro for smooth rendering/editing of all types of video like high def?
I may also need to run some windows programs; MS word, Excel, photoshop & roxio easy media creator. I have read about vm ware fusion & paralles for macs, which would be best for running my windows programs without problems. Will vm ware fusion or parallels run on OS snow leopard?

I believe you are referring to TIme Machine, which is a built in software back up feature in both Leopard and Snow Leopard. You will need an external hard disc drive to make it work.

If you buy a computer from the Apple Web Store, you will have to pay the sales tax your state charges - but you won't have to pay for shipping.

Yes, even at most reputable mail order companies the price is usually within 50 or so dollars of Apple's list price. This is another clue to be suspicious of the ebay prices.

To edit HD video, I would max out the ram and you will also need to have fast (firewire) external disc drives to store the media as you will not want to have the media stored on your internal system disc.

Yes. There are reports that there are some problems with Snow Leopard, but these should be ironed out shortly, or have already been ironed out as the 3rd party software makers update their software for Snow Leopard.

OK, well this is something I can't advise you on. If you were to get a new Mac, you would need to: Buy the Mac, buy Fusion or Parallels, buy a full copy of Windows to install on your windows partition, buy the ram upgrade, and buy external storage. Plus, you will have to learn a new operating system, and new software like iMovie and iDVD.
What the relative value this has to you, I don't know. If you have a long term commitment to working with photography and videography, then without a doubt, I would recommend doing it as eventually in your career you will need to be familiar with how to work on the Mac platform.
If you are doing it just to make better DVDs from MPG movies shot with a still camera, I would think about it.

Need help for webdynpro requirement.

I have a requirement to design the webdynpro application.
First i have to create a layout(view).In that view we create a input fileds as Document id and Component repository id.
When we pass these two id's then click on the getdata button.
Now we want display the Total No of pages and Each page as a tab,logo and header details.
After that when user click on first page tab it will shows the first page informatio.
next when user click on second page it shows second page info...up to 10 pages.
Entire these process will be on same view.
and one more doubt how to cut the trace area into multiple parts?
what iam doing is i have to disply the input fileds in one trace element ares and display the output what i mentioned above in second trace area.
i want Separate page numbers as a tab at left side in second trace area.
At second trace area ontop display the logo and header details.
next display the total number of pages .
and left side display the each page as a tab.(one by one).
next we can click on any page it shows the particular information about that page.
How to use the frameui element?

Need guidence to store scan pdf in oracle 10g

Here are 2 options , first you can use either procedure or anonymous block to load clob data
First Method -- I loaded alert.log successfully and you can imagine how big this file can be (5MB in my test case), in your case you need to specify your pdf file. CLOB/BLOB can take upto 4GB data
Make sure you have privs to create , read or write to directory

Dario,
As your PI and your partner system is separated by firewall, then you need to ask the IT Security team to open ports for any communication between you and them. Even if your PI system and your partner system is kept in DMZ, unless you open communication ports, you will not be able to transfer data. Your physical IP s are not exposed to anywhere as you will be providing the natted IP to your partner and same will they do.
Rajesh has suggested to use encryption for communication and that has to be carried out in any case as you are not supposed to expose your systems directly to the outside world and the mode of communication is over the internet.
Common B2B adapters we have heard about are CIDX, RosettaNet,etc, although I have not used them ever. I am not sure about the JDBC communication over internet will be possible or not, if possible then the connection parameters you have provided should work,but the consideration is that you have the connectivity established. In this case your default communication port should be the db port.
As you said, you are planning to use VPN connectivity, in that case, I believe , if your client's LAN is accessible to you, then you need not open communication ports, even. But the Database must be accessible through this VPN Client IP. You must have VPN access to Client's Database server from your PI and they must be connected. If you straightaway use VPN IP as the DB IP, then I do not think it will come useful to you.

I want to confirm that am i making the dimension and its levels in the right ways?
Is it the professional way?
Have i made right levels?
Is the arrangement of the levels are right?
Now please tell me how to fill IDs of all levels. Should i use one sequence for all levels or seperate sequences for every level.
And if i would have other hierarchies and its levels too then what would have been the right way to assign sequences in all levels in all the hierarchies.

I think the best source for professional dimension advice is Ralph Kimball. Just google on this and on his site and in his books you will find a wealth of information on how to create these dimensions.
I'm not sure what the intent of the dim is, but the levels seem to be in a "strange" order. I'd expect:
Total
Location
Customer
Address
With the levels holding the describing attributes for each of these levels (so all customer stuff including contact info on customer). Now there are reasons to stick this in address for example. It all depends on cardinality of the information...
