Need help activating PSE12. Troubleshooting items all verify. Still can't activate.

Question

I purchased Adobe PS Elements 12 and installed it from DVD.  When I try to use PSE12, I get the following message:
Either your computer is offline or the clock on your computer is set incorrectly, causing a connection error. An Internet connection is required. Please connect to the Internet or adjust your clock and try again.
I have been to the adobe.com troubleshooting website and have verified the following:
       I can connect to the internet.
       I can access secure sites, including the adobe activation servers.
       My hosts file is fine.
       My GlobalSign Root CA certificate is installed and enabled.
       My date, time, and time zone are set properly
I have spent most of an evening in a chat session with two different Adobe reps. During these sessions, I disabled the Windows Firewall and my anti-virus software to no avail.  I still could not activate PSE12.  The chat session was abruptly terminated (not by me). 
Surely, there must be an easier or alternative way to activate the software.  Please help.

Update:  Spent another evening with Adobe Technical Support.  All of the previous night's efforts were over a wireless internet connection.  After deleting files from <UserProfile>\AppData\Local\Temp and establishing a direct connection to the internet via ethernet cable (vice wireless connection), I was able to activate the software.  I'm not exactly sure of cause-and-effect here (it's still possible that the Adobe activation servers have issues), but I can finally use the software.  Note to Adobe:  activation, especially for personal use, really shouldn't be this difficult.
