Need help adjusting audio pan on interview...

I have several interviews that have the mono mike on a1, and need that to be stereo mon... and silence a2 - camera mike.
The clips were brought into FCPx from FCP7.
I can open them in rimeline, and make adjustments; but when I go back to the main timeline, one side seems louder than the other... can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Any advise?

For some reason, that didn't work. I used the razor tool on the first portion of the clip, and then realized if I expanded it, it showed me the original shots from the timeline I started within FCP7.
This first portion is the one I can't get stero mono working... everything else sounds pretty good.

  • Need help adjusting audio on imported video and/or cpvc to cptx presentation

    I inserted a video into my cptx presentation that I created using captivate but the audio was too low. I went back into the cpvc (captivate video demo recording) and increased the volume and republished it and imported it again. However the sound will not increase and is still low. Can someone help me figure out how to increase the volume within the cptx or how to make the cptx recognize the updated volume that was increased? Really running into brick walls on this one...
    Appreciate any help that someone can provide.

    Is it AVCHD, Mini-DV, or DVD?  What format does the camera record to?

  • Adjusting Audio Pan in the Timeline

    In the FCE 3.0 help pdf. manual there is a heading for a section: "Adjusting Volume Levels and Pan in the Timeline," but I can't find anywhere that it says anything about adjusting the pan in the timeline, just the levels.
    I know how to adjust pan in the viewer, but is there actually a way to do it in the timeline also?

    Martin, Thanks, but actually the sound mix on my project is presently quite complex as a clip by clip change in balance from left to right (depending on whether dialogue, sound effects, music, etc.) and I plan on adjusting the pan on each clip individually to especially retain the stereo effect of the music. I just thought it was sort of confusing that the help manual has a section heading on how to adjust pan in the timeline but then doesn't address the issue.
    Thanks again, I may end up taking your advice.
    Hi Fran,
    The only way I know of doing it to all of your
    clips in the timeline at once would be to select one
    audio clip, and adjust the pan to center (which is
    what I believe you want to do, based on your earlier
    post). Then select all other audio clips in
    the timeline and do Paste Attributes (of course,
    having selected just the Pan attribute before
    clicking OK in the Paste Attributes window.
    For more info, look under "Copying, Pasting &
    Removing Clip Attributes" in your FCE manual. In the
    FCEHD manual it's in Ch. 16 "Editing in the
    Timeline"

    This issue does not affect customers running the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system.
    Several customers have reported that they have had success using the QuickTime components available from Perian (http://perian.org). • Need help normalizing audio across slides in capt.8

    I have a 100-slide project - that I recorded audio for over a few weeks (so some slides have louder audio than others). I'd like the volume to be the same. I've tried editing the "project" audio, selecting the entire wave form (ctrl A), then clicking on Adjust Audio, then normalize, then save, then close. Doesn't work. Any ideas as to why? thank you.

    Thank you for your honest answer. I spent so much time trying yesterday. i notice I have audition too (wonder if it came with captivate) - I will try that - I can see that there are some youtube videos about audition, so I'll have a look. thanks again!

  • Need help adjusting colors in  Photoshop (CS2)

    I'm not a neither a novice nor a pro when it comes to Photoshop. (Just somewhere in-between) . . . So don't understand why  I''m suddenly having problems with colors in my photos looking accurate  on my canera, but almsot  completely red and yellow in Photoshop. Initially though the camera was at fault, until I switched cameras  and still had the same problem, so figured itmust be  Photoshop.
    Since  Photoshop CS2 has all the features I need,  I've never bothered to upgrade. . . which turned out to be a problem when I tried to follow the instructions for creating  new adjustment layers. (Was OK until I reached the last step, when  my menus were different than  those in the guide.) Have spent  most of the last 2 days trying to manipulate all the options  under the Image Adjustment menu, but am running our of patience and luck.
    The problem seems to have been increasing in recent  weeks (or months), but this is the first time I've been absolutely stumped and unable to  come up with a usable solution.

    Thanks. But it looks like in all my frustration, I wasn't  sure  my original call for help had posted, so must have  submitted the same question again.
    But I just had a new thought on the problem. While reviewing a story I received from another website,  I noticed that the photos attached to the article  looked  a lot like  what I described  in my  message. It made me wonder if I have a software problem at all . . . or if it's the screen on my Mac that needs recalibration!
    It only took 2 minutes to find a website that discussed it — with sample screens to help determine if that was what I'm dealing with. Since a screen supposedly showing a mix of numbered, grey boxes looked totally white to me and I could only see the white numbers on a screen that supposedly contained boxes in varying shades of black, I think I might be on the right track. Just not sure, since I had to reach the bottom of the page before spotting the pitch for a product that supposedly will recalibrate  for me. I'm not sure I want to tackle recalibration on my own, but may call the Mac Geniuses at our local mall  and see  if my hunch is right . . .and if so, what they would charge to do it for me.
    BTW, if it sounds like a calibration problem, do you think moving my computer  from one desk top another (just 5 feet away) could have caused it? I'm not sure, since it wasn't on my mind at the time, but I think that's roughly when I first started to notice discrepancies in color.

  • Need help: front audio w/ P55-GD55 and thermaltake armor

    Hey guys,
    I am trying to connect the front panel audio on my thermaltake armor(VA8000BWS) case to my msi p55-gd55 motherboard. My case has 1 wire coming from the front panel with 2 connections on the end that connects to the mobo.  The ear mic chart for my case lists as follows:
    1-EAR R
    2-Return R
    3-EAR L
    4-Return L
    5-MIC IN
    6-MIC VCC or MICBIAS
    7-Ground
    The chart for my motherboard lists as follows:
    1-MIC L
    2-Ground
    3-MIC R
    4-PRESENCE#
    5-HEAD PHONE R
    6-MIC DETECTION
    7-SENSE_SEND
    8-NO PIN
    9-HEAD PHONE L
    10-HEAD PHONE DETECTION
    Do I simply plug in my cable as is or do I have to move around some of the wires? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    That is a pretty old case and front panel audio in it is for AL'97 not the HD audio that the MB has. You need to get a front panel audio module for HD audio from somewhere.
    So i can't connect the front panel audio on the MB? It was nice if i could, but no problems then.
    Thx for the help

  • Need help adjusting formula on time sheet

    I am using this formula to show OT hours worked based off N21 being the total hours for the day. It needs to use the DUR2HOURS or it doesn't work properly.
    =MAX(DUR2HOURS(N21)-8, 0)
    I have another cell to calculate double over time, which is anything after 12 hours.
    How can I adjust the above formula to show the OT hours but not the DOT hours?
    Thanks in advance for any help!!!

    For the specific case of the duration in N21, the above expressions would be:
    Standard Pay...
    =DUR2HOURS(MIN(N21, "8h"))
    OverTime...
    =DUR2HOURS(MIN(MAX("0h", N21−"8h"), "4h"))
    Double OverTime...
    =DUR2HOURS(MAX("0h", N21−"12h"))

  • Need help getting audio off of a dvd...

    [You can skip this paragraph if you don't need the backstory.]
    So, for several weeks I've been trying to get some audio off of a DVD of mine and into a simple mp3 file. A couple days ago I found and followed this guide, and thought I had succeeded. But after a while I realized that the file I got does not play nice with my handheld mp3 player, or mpd, or mplayer, or anything whatsoever that is not gstreamer-based. MPD goes especially berserk - after playing the file, it can no longer play anything else until I reboot (yes reboot - restarting mpd doesn't fix anything). I should also mention that I'm aware that the guide is not 100% correct; I followed the advice and corrections of some commentors there too.
    Anyways, I guess I need to ask for help with this. How would you go about getting audio off of a DVD?
    Last edited by fflarex (2008-07-19 01:26:01)

    I usually use the following command to rip a music dvd to wav:
    OUTPUTDIR="/Some/Rip/Dir"
    TITLE=2
    FIRST_CHAPTER=1
    LAST_CHAPTER=13
    CHAPTER=$FIRST_CHAPTER
    AUDIO_ID=128
    echo "Ripping Audio..."
    while [ $CHAPTER -le $LAST_CHAPTER ]; do
    let NO=$CHAPTER
    mplayer -dvd-device /dev/dvd1 dvd://$TITLE -vo null -vc null -ao pcm:waveheader:file=$OUTPUTDIR/track$NO.wav -af lavcresample=44100 -aid $AUDIO_ID -chapter $CHAPTER-$CHAPTER
    let CHAPTER=CHAPTER+1
    done
    Resampling to 44100 is important since most mp3 players cannot handle 48000.
    Then I have another little script that converts it to flac, sets the correct tags, and finally converts the flac to oggs as well..

  • Need help with audio...

    Hi,
    I need some help with an audio issue...a deep, buzzing sound which is so dominant, i can barely hear the rest
    the situation:
    older VHS tape (about 10 years) - i know some of you just cringed the video quality isn't the greatest, but not the worst. the audio is terrible.
    transferred with my canopus av300 to my mac (g4 d1.25) - no issues
    using FCP 4.5
    i tried the AUGraphicEQ and since it was so deep, i reduced the following to 0:
    800
    6300
    8000
    reducing anything else doesn't seem to work
    i've also tried cleaning in soundsoap both before using the AUGraphicEQ and after. If i clean it with SSoap before AUGraphicEQ, it sounds far better than the original track, but a low buzz is still present. using the EQ again doesn't seem to do much.
    the camerawork was done on a tripod about 30 yds back. no mikes were used either. just the camera capturing both a/v.
    Any thoughts on anything else to try? Any other filters? I fear the buzz is just with the main sound and no chance of completely killing it.
    I can email someone a small sample file for them to play with if you like.
    i'm really at my wits end b/c i would like to ensure i give the client as best i can (the other option would be to send the tape to a colleague's audio expert, but the price is something my client doesn't want to pay
    Cheers,
    Keebler

    Got SoundTrack Pro? It will perform miracles with getting rid of unwanted sound. It's a matter of isolalating a few frames of the sound where no one is talking, and then using a simple command to remove that sound by itself from the entire audio track.
    There is a possibilty that the Hum remover in FCP 4.5 might help...

  • Need help getting audio to play

    I dragged two audio files to a page in my site, but all I get is a tiny, blue Quicktime symbol with no ability to play the files after I've published the site. I use my own domain name, not a .mac account.
    I've tried this twice - once with the files as they were, listed as mpegs, and another after converting those to mp3s. I get the same results each time.
    Any suggestions on what I need to fix? The site is at: http://LivinginRhyme.com. Audio is on *Radio show interviews.*

    Well, that's interesting. I've went and tried it again, and I can't access anything via Safari, but I now realize I can using Firefox (though, yeah, it takes way too long to load). What browser did you use?
    Is there anything I can do so this works with Safari - and any other browser someone may use?

  • Need help with audio portion of iDVD

    I have added a playlist from iTunes to a slideshow. When I play it on slideshow, all music in the slideshow is played. However, when I export to iDVD and play back the slideshow, only the first song plays. The rest of the slideshow has no music playing once the first song ends. Help! Thank you!

    Hi jMoose and welcome to the forums!
    My bet is that the audio tracks that won't transfer to iDVD are purchased tracks in iTunes rather than from your own CDs?
    If so what you are up against is DRM copy protection. The workaround is to burn a CD in iTunes of those tracks you need, then re-import them from that CD into iTunes and save them as AIFF files.
    Then iDVD will use them with a smile!

  • Need help with audio on button ASAP THANKS!

    Hi,
    Using CS3 I added via properties audio to the "over" part of a gold button.  The audio I added is 4Mb in size which I had imported to the library.  When I selected "over" on the button and then using properties assigned the audio file .... the wave form appeared ... but not under "over" but over, down and hit.  Thus when I publish what is happening is the page loads fine ... the audio begins to play on roll over as wanted ...
    HERES THE GLITCH:  if you accidently roll over again a new audio begins to play out of sync with the first one ... basically you get the row, row row your boat effect where each roll over audio is delayed.
    MY FAILED SOLUTION:  I tried to move the audio file and assign it via properties under hit. Thus have to have someone click on the sound.  Yet the same outcome happend where the wave form appeared not just under hit but it showed on over, down and hit. The same thing happened when I tried assigning to "down".
    MY QUESTIONS:
    Is this caused by the sound file being too big?  I tried a small audio beed and it would assign directly under the part I assigned but not with the bigger 4MB audio file.
    If it is the size of the sound file, can I link the button to an external audio file. If so, what code would I use if I am using Action Script 2.0. I am very new at action script.
    If it is not the size, could some one please tell me how to fix this glitch.  I would be satisfied with the button working on either over or hit.  If you wish to see what the button is doing, you can see it online at www.signaturehill.com.
    THANKS.

    Hi Erika,
    That might just be what I need ... but I am confused as to where do put the action code.  Can you help me with the following questions:
    1. Did you put it inside the button via actionscript or did you select the button just and ad it there ...  or somewhere else? Since I have several buttons doing the same thing on different pages, I am not sure where to put it.
    2. What was the exact code you used  ie  on (release)  {....   StopAllSounds(); }  .... did you even use "release" or some other mouse event.
    Please include the action script code I might try since I am very new to scripting. THANK YOU>
