Need Help!!! Another dead ipod!!!

My 1st ipod click wheel 40 Gb ipod gave up the ghost after 9 months and decided to have its own electrical fire (wonderful). After 3 months of trying to get a replacement, the replacement won't work.
I have downloaded the software, charged the new ipod, but it will only switch on if it is plugged into mains electricity. I can't get it to turn on at all if it is stand alone, or plugged into my computer. What is the matter? How can I get it to work?
I am contemplating sending the **** thing back and getting my money back as I have almost had it!!!!!!:-#

Now Im having problems with mine. Everytime I try to charge and usually the screen will pop up to my original music player. This is what it says now when I open or charge my IPOD.

    Andrew,
The iPod and iTunes are not compatible with Windows ME and the minimum requirements are Windows 2000 with SP4 or XP with SP2 (although I use several iPods and don't have SP2).
If you can't upgrade to one of these, then you can use the iPod with ME if you are prepared to fiddle around a little. However, you won't be able to use iTunes.
    See this.
Guide to iPod and Windows ME
You can use iPods purchased in the USA here in the UK. Our family uses 3 such iPods.
You can also use the iPod on any number of computers as this document explains.

Whoever gave you you all this wrong info deserves to be shot!
Just one more thing Andrew. Please start your own topic in future instead of jumping in an interrupting someone else's with an unrelated query. It's know here as "threadjacking" and is against the discussions Terms of Use.
    Good luck with ME!

  • I need help restoreing my ipod nano 3rd gen so its like new

I need help restoreing my ipod nano 3rd gen so its like new

Plug it to your computer using iPod USB Cable (any cable should work excluding iPhone 5 and Shuffle cables)...... when you see your iPod in iTunes go to that iPod and click restore...... the whole process should take (depending on what you have on your iPod and its is up to date) it should take no longer than 30 minutes...... then it will ask if you want to set up as new iPod or restore from back-up (itunes back up), since you said:
    so its like new
click set as new iPod and follow through what they said.

  • HT1222 hey  i need help with my ipod, i try to download facebook app and it wouldn't let me because it say ios 4.1 require and i dont have ios how do i get it ?

hey  i need help with my ipod, i try to download facebook app and it wouldn't let me because it say ios 4.1 require and i dont have ios how do i get it ?  please i need help ASAP

What generation of iPod touch do you have? If you don't know, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353
If you have an first-generation iPod touch, it can only go to iOS 3.1.3 and hence will not run the Facebook app. If you have a second-generation iPod touch, see:

  • Need help re-synching iPods with new computer and getting iTunes to...

Need help re-synching iPods with new computer and getting iTunes to recognize our iPods (it doesn't even recognize them when they're plugged in).
Hubby wiped my harddrive for me, so now I need to get everything back in proper places. I'm using windows XP and installed iTunes once again (I believe it's version 8). I also installed all of my iTunes songs. Now I need to know where to go from here. We have 3 iPods and I need to get them all synched once again. I know how to create different libraries for each of us, but I can't figure out how to get our songs back into our iTunes libraries. When I open iTunes and plug in an iPod, iTunes doesn't even show that an iPod is plugged in.
What do I do now to get each of our iPods synched with our own libraries?
    TIA
    Brandy

Thanks Zevoneer. The "Restart ipod service" worked and itunes is now recognizing my ipod! Hooray!
Okay, now how do I synch all of our ipods with our individual libraries (I don't want all of my kids' songs and vice versa)? We each have hundreds of songs on our ipods that we don't want to lose.
    Thanks again!

  • HT1329 hi i need help with my ipod nano i want to get my music from my ipod to i tunes so that i can be able to transfer the music on my i tunes to my ipad mini can you help me with that ?

hi i need help with my ipod nano i want to transfer my music from the ipod to the itunes so that i can be able to transfer the music to my ipad can you help me with that ?

You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like"iPod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your iTunes library, and then sync your iPad.

  • HT1212 need help disabiling an ipod tuch 4th generashon please help

need help disabiling an ipod tuch

To disable an iPod just enter the incorrect screen-lock passcode 10 times or sp.
If you want to recover from that
    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • My friend needs help with her ipod

My friend needs help with her Ipod. Here's what happened. She connected her Ipod to a casette adapter and the ipod just froze. She started doing the reset but to no avail. What do you think cause this? She really needs help so if anyone can suggest what to do that would be greatly appreciated.
I don't specifically know her ipod but I think that it is the Ipod 30gb.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
She needs to reset her iPod by holding down Menu and Select for 6-10 seconds...
    Resetting iPod
It may take several attempts. The above link also has "tips" if the iPod does not seem to be resetting.
If she has tried many times, along with the "tips" and the iPod still won't reset, then she will have to wait for the iPod's battery to die and then she can charge it back up and it should work fine. The iPod should reset though.

  • Need Help Please with Ipod 20G

Long story short....I had my Ipod 4G and computer stolen several month ago on a business trip(have police report). A friend of mine recently purchased a new Video Ipod and gave me his old 20G...pretty nice of him! I am about to have iTunes loaded on to my new computer. Here are my questions I need help with please.
    1. Will I need to setup a new iTunes account or can I use my old one?
    2. Will I have to reset my newly acquired Ipod before I can place my music on it? I did back up about 80% of the songs from my old Ipod. Or will I be able to keep the 1500 songs my friend placed on it?
    3. Or would it be easier for me to give him back his, cough up the $300 dollars for a new one and start all over?
Can't think of anything else I might need to know. If there is something I am missing and you could help fill in the blanks for me I would truly appreciate the help.
    Thanks so much!!

    20G   Windows 2000

    1. No. You can use your old one.
    2. Will I have to reset my newly acquired Ipod before I can place my music on it? No, but iTunes may automatically do this, I will explain.
I did back up about 80% of the songs from my old Ipod. Or will I be able to keep the 1500 songs my friend placed on it?
Sorry, but it would not be legal to keep the 1500 songs on this iPod that were your friend's songs, assuming that he's still using/listening to them on another computer.
    3. No, I think it would be worth it to keep going, and use the 20GB iPod on your computer. It's not many hoops to jump through, and you should be up and syncing in no time.
Overall, it's fairly easy, and I would suggest that you keep going with this iPod.
    My note from question #2:
If you connect an iPod that hasn't been attatched to your computer before, iTunes will most likely display [to the effect of] this message when you connect the iPod for the first time:
"The songs on the iPod "~~" are linked to another iTunes library. Would you like to replace the content of the iPod with this current iTunes library?"
Be sure to click on "NO" when you recieve this message.
Then, click on your iPod's name in the left panel of iTunes.
    Click on the "Music" tab.
Deselect "Sync Music" if it is already set to this option.
This means that your iPod is on manual managing now, instead of iTunes automatically transferring songs to your iPod, or deleting them, which is not what you want at this time.
Now, if you have any songs on the iPod that you need to keep (i.e., if you have some of your songs on this iPod)you have a few options to transfer your iPod songs to your computer.
Method 1 - Manually transfer your iPod songs to iTunes using MacMuse's post. See it here -> iPod songs to computer (MacMuse post)
Method 2 - Add your iPod's folder into the iTunes library (via iTunes). Read this post here -> Using iTunes settings to transfer iPod songs to iTunes
Method 3 - Use a third-party program to get the transferring done. For a Windows computer, CopyPod should work good. Also, you can try out YamiPod
I hope that info helps you.

  • Another dead ipod

I don't know why this is happening. It was not damaged and I did not do anything out of the ordinary. I tried the 5rs, but nothing seems to be working. I even took it to work to get a windows machine to recognize the device and reformat it. but so far nothing. it will not completely reboot. I cannot restore it or reset it. i cannot get it into diagnostic mode. no computer will recognize it. i've tried both the firewire and the usb wire and several computer ports. not only is this my second ipod (the first pooped out 11 months after purchase), but my extended warranty ran out 2 months ago. i'm very depressed. I can't afford to buy another atleast not until fall.
when trying to reboot (menu + select) the apple menu will show up and then after six seconds there is a screen blip and the apple icon returns. then after several more seconds, the sad ipod face.
all the while, the ipod is making a strange quiet ticking noise. almost like a windup alarm clock, just quieter. I imagine this is the HD spinning around and around.
have I mentioned how depressed I am? god's shadow is upon me. there aren't enough obscenities in the english language. is it worth it to try and get it fixed or can I take a hammer to it all?
I've noticed a lot of people with similar problems here. have we been had?
