Need help buying soundc

Hi,
I need to buy a soundcard wich could work under Windows NT4. Can you tell me if such a product still exist ?
Evilo from France.

I don't like upmixing very much either, but normally there are two DPL modes on the decoder, movie and music, have you tried both?If you want to bypass the decoder and try the soundcard upmixing disconnect the 3x stereo miniplug cable (lime green, black and orange) ?from the decoder and connect them directly to the soundcard outputs and then select some mode of CMSS, my favorite is stereo x2/x3?(I don't know exactly the options available in a Li've! 24bit), but to use the decoder for DVDs the cable must be connected again to the decoder. You may also want to try this:?http://www.driverheaven.net/general-...3-encoder.html?I haven't tried it but it might allow you to use the speakers in 5. without changing cables.

  • Need help buying new hard drive

I have a macbook that needs a new hard drive and need help knowing what hard drives to buy that will be compatible with it. It is a macbook pro 17inch model no: A1297.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Any 2.5" diameter, 9.5mm thick SATA drive will be compatible.  Currently they come up to 1.5 TB in capacity.  I have a 1 TB Seagate SSHD (hybrid) drive installed in my primary MBP.  The cost is a modest premium over a conventional HDD of the same capacity.  Boot and shutdown times are significantly faster when compared to a conventional HDD,  I can recommend this as an option.
If the bank account permits, an SSD will produce the overall maximum performance gains.  Boot, shutdown and resource hungry applications will be noticeably faster.  Casualyll use such as e-mails and text editing will produce no meaningful performance differences compared to a conventional HDD.
I am of the opinion that the cost premium is still too high for the benefits that they afford.  Other have different views.
    Ciao.

  • I need help buying a mba or mbp

hello, my laptop is gone mad not literally but he's gone mad, so im going to buy a macbook air or a pro so i need help choosing:
i will be using it for the following:
    1. documents
    2.  power points
    3. excel
    i need it to have:
    a long lasting battery,
iam  a heavy gamer  i just like to play games so i need it for games and work
and  most importantly i will need it in school and iam more of '' staying in house''
sorry if i had bad english i didnt went to america a long time.

For your top 3 things, I'd recommend the Air. It does everything really fast, and as long as you're not doing processor- or graphics-heavy things you will find it extremely speedy. Which brings me to games. If you're a heavy gamer you'll want a MacBook Pro with a discreet graphics card. This means you should get a 15-inch model (both retina and non-retina have discreet graphics). But avoid retina if you're a gamer for now, because using retina resolution really strains your graphics card, and not using retina graphics on a retina screen makes the graphics usually look worse.
So - Air for your main applications
    And if gaming's important - a 15" non-retina MBP

  • Need help buying a new computer

Ok so I desperately need a new computer. my current one is 6 years old and is dying on me. What I'm looking for is something that will be able to run games like Knights of the Old Republic, The Sims 2, and eventually Star Wars: The Old Republic once it is released next spring. I don't want something that would be overkill for these games, but enough so that they don't lag and don't look awful. And I'm fine with buying a graphics card separately if it would be cheaper then buying some epic pc. My price range is $800-$1100, preferably $800 ^^; $1100 is like last resort no other option.
so any help would be greatly appreciated
On a side-note, my current pc until recently could play the above games fine, so I know I don't need some epic gaming computer to play them, but I just need help with which companies are reliable and what will be able to handle something like swtor's graphics in the near future.

Hey! You don't need a powerhouse, but as long as you have such a nice budget, you might as well get something nice. This is my personal recommendation based on specs, hardware and branding. Also, the case doesn't try to be 'too cool', it's a standard, functional case with a little better construction. No video upgrade needed. (This is tower only, if you need a monitor, that's a whole different cup of tea).

  • Need help buying a logic board!!!

    Hi,
So I posted a while back about my mac failing to boot up. Now I concluded it was the logic board that was faulty. I need help deciphering what the part numbers mean.
My logic board part number is 630-6694/T6690 and model 820-1592-A. This came with the dual 2.0 ghz PPC970fx 90nm model (June 2004). There are boards with the same model number as mine, but different part number prefixes (i.e. 661-xxxx instead of 630-xxxx), so what does this mean????
I would like to really get the latest motherboard that is still compatible with the processors, if that's possible? I have seen different dual socket boards like 820-1760-A, which I'm interested in since it is the Early 2005 model.
Can anyone here with technical knowledge shed some light on what these model numbers and part numbers mean?
    Thanks!

Hi, if it were me, I'd call one of these and see what'd work, I'm no expert but I hear G5s are really particular...

  • Need help buying 15inch Macbook

I am an industrial design student and need help configuring a macbook pro. Should I go for the 2.3Ghz model or the 2.6 one? I prefer the 2.3 Ghz one as it is cheaper. Should I get an extra 4gb ram? I do not play games, will be mainly using sofware such as solidworks and indesign on it. I am not considering the retina display models. Also, should I pay $100 to get an antiglare screen? I do have poor eyesight and think this would be a good option.
    Thanks

    matthew --
You'll get a lot of advice here, but I feel the most important point when working with InDesign, is to get as much RAM as you can afford.  I have the non-glare MBP, and I also have the regular screen iMac.  I like them both.  I think you should think about where you will be working the most, and how much light will be there.

  • Need help buying this song

i'm sooooo confused. i've bought a ton of songs and then suddenly i'm trying to buy a song and a message pops up. it says i have to upgrade itunes to 7.2 or higher before i can purchase the song. well i upgraded twice, way past 7.2, and restarted the computer a few times also. so i tried again to buy the song and the message keeps popping up. but it lets me purchase other songs. it's just the one song: ocean avenue. i LOVE this song so someone please help me.

The latest tabook here does not mention an LED backlight for this model but the AT&T WWAN exists. However the bottom of the page shows " US models withdrawn effective September 2008 or June, August, or December 2009"

  • Need help buying ibook from ebay please :-)

    Hi there
I am rather new to mac but I am getting on with it well. But at the moment I have a imac and g4 power mac which are taking up abit of space so I would like to get something smaller so a ibook would be good. I don't really want to buy one new as I am not a heavy mac user but would like it to be nice a nippy with most of the bits. Can anyone put me the right direction and tell me what I need to go for please.
    Many thanks
    Daryll

The two main things to look out for:
    1. Are the original disks included? This is important for troubleshooting issues with your new Mac or maybe doing an erase & install right from scratch. This would also include things like the Apple Hardware Test that isn't available from a retail copy of Mac OS X.
    2. What is the warranty situation? Is the computer less than a year old so it's still covered by the original warranty? If so, you could purchase an AppleCare Protection Plan for it and extend the warranty to three years from the original purchase date. If it has an AppleCare Protection Plan, then the current owner can send a letter to AppleCare and have the plan transfered to you. If the computer is more than a year old and doesn't have an AppleCare Protection Plan, then you may have no choice but to pay for any repairs that may come up.

    Price Range $200-$330
Also Do I Need A Power Supply?

    Jumpman,
Please reply after you have measured the existing Power supply.
    Is it a Min ITX (3.2 x 1.7 x 6) or a TFX (3.4 x 2.5 X 7)
Athena Power has just released a news article in Smart Computing that relates to their new product line of power supplies for the Slimline cases.
Just as an example, this card needs a minimum of 400W :http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150577
Caution: You can not use a graphics card that the Power Supply does not support (PINOUT and WATTAGE). Slimline power units do not have PCIE power plug(s), as yet. (See Athena if they have any).

  • Help! I need help buying a new iPod!

Hi. This is the first time for me to buy an iPod. I do not know much about either the nano or the video ipod. But the problem is that I don't know if iPod nano would have enough room for all of my songs, and songs that I will purchase in the future. So here is the question. How much space does iPod nano lose due to it's formatting process? I know that video iPod (30GB) loses somewhere around 3-4GBs. How much does Nano lose? Ig it loses more than 1GB, I'm thinking about buying the Video instead... Please explain to me in detail!! And by the way, is the memory technology for nano flash memory?

The 4GB iPod nano will have 3.7GB of usable capacity, and an 8GB iPod nano will have about 7.5GB. If you choose a 2GB iPod nano, you will be able to store roughly 1.9GB of data on it.
The iPod nano uses a flash drive for storage.

  • Need help buying a PC for a graphics designer.

    Hi,
I have a user that uses a desktop maskin basically only for Photoshop. I have my eyes on the following PC but im not sure if it is good enough for working with photoshop.
I would  appreciate all the help i can get. for exemple, should there be more CPU or a better Grapic card.
    Precision T1600
Intel Xeon E3-1225, 3,1 GHz, Quad Core CPU
    16GB RAM
    1GB nVidia Quadro 600 (DP,DVI)
    Windows 7 pro, 64Bit

    I'm not fond of nVidia.
Me neither. I had a NVidia card in one workstation, which I finally got to behave in Photoshop after going through...a number...of driver versions. Problems were legion: stuttering and jerky sliders, disappearing cursor, flashing tiles display, crashes, even BSOD's. But in the end I found a version that worked.
Then I bought Lightroom 4. Sliders would take two seconds to respond, and another three to four for the display to update. Switching between two images was agony. It was totally and utterly useless.
The other machine has an ATI 5850 and has never given me any problems. So I thought what the heck, bought an ATI 6670 card - and all the Lightroom problems went away, just like that.
My totally unscientific conclusion is this: NVidia is for kids playing games. People doing serious work should stay with ATI.
