Need help choosing a printer/scanner - any help appreciated!

I have a Pixma MP560 printer and a Canoscan 9950F scanner. My printer is having issues and was told by support need to replace it. My Canoscan 9950F scanner hasn't been used in years (hardly ever used before either) but it is no longer supported and doesn't work with Yosemite (no updated available). I want to scan hundreds of photos from my photo albums (and also have a good printer). What is the best all-in-one printer/scanner to do this? I want good quality scans on my photos and am not sure what resolution I need (was told should scan at 300 DPI - is that right?) - the quality of these photos is important in case I would want to print them out in the future, etc. Can I get by with an all-in-one printer/scanner or am I best off going with a cheaper printer and getting another canoscan? The ink cartridges for the MP560 are relatively expensive also - and found that cheaper refilled cartridges cause harm to the printer. What is my best options for this set-up without costing an arm and leg for print cartridges, etc. Thanks in advance for any and all opinions/help and feel free to ask any other questions - Oh, I use a Macintosh computer also.

Hello. The most comparable replacement to the MP560 would be the PIXMA MG6620. This unit will be able to perform high quality photo printouts, document printouts and also perform scans. I have been able to print to my HP Photsmart d110 series printer since I got my iPad. After installing iOS7.4 it will find the printer, but it will not actually print. The same is for my husband's iPad mini. It is a function I really miss. Can anyone help me with a solution or a workaround?

Check your printer for any disfunctions like the following:
no paper
no ink
disconnected
not set up
Also, you should check your computer to see if that will print. If it does, then you know it is a problem with your iPad that should be taken into an Apple store (if none of the above work). If it does not, and none of the above worked, you will probably need to buy a new printer.

I need a few APIs for a networking project, namely an API that does some kind of port scanning similar to the one found in NMAP, and another one that does packet sniffing, similar to that found in CPAC. Anyone knows where can I find any libraries that do anything like that? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have looked in a few open source sites like sourceforge.net or www.opensource.org but I can't find anything... I also looked it up using google and I found a few CPAC libraries, but they're all for C, none for Java. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could look...

Since it seems App related, I'm not sure what to offer you. I guess the only suggestion I have is for you to reboot your iPad and then try again. To reboot, hold the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (keep holding past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart. You won't lose any settings or data, so it's worth a shot.

I getting a brand new mac mini from ebay and i am deciding between a 15-inch or a 14-inch LCD display. I was just wondering, if both of the displays have a resolution of 1024 x 768, is that the pixel count too? so does that mean the pixels on the 15-inch are just bigger or something? i need to know because the 14-inch LCD is $40 cheaper than the 15 inch....Thanks everyone!
also, since i've already decided on getting an apple keyboard, do you think the mighty mouse is really worth $49? i like to stick with apple products so that's why I'm wondering.

It doesn't necessarily mean the pixels themselves are bigger or smaller. It could also be the dot pitch (or distance between pixels) is bigger or smaller. If the native resolution is 1024x768 then you are correct, there are physically 1024x768=786,432 pixels. A 15" screen with the same resolution as a 14" screen may appear slightly less sharp but objects will appear larger. It's a tradeoff. Generally I would choose the larger monitor just because it is easier on the eyes when reading small print, etc.

Help Choosing Laserjet Printer

I am looking to buy a printer but need help!
My main reasons for use would be to print (1) photos (2) word documents (3) scanning in a home office use.
The quality of the print is most important to me, the cost of cartridges providing quality Is good is not an issue nor is the price of the printer.
We have iPods and iPhones and an iMac and I would like to be able to send documents to the printer from all of these. We use satellite broadband.
I would like help from anyone who can suggest printers for me.

Are you looking for a commercial or consumer-ended printer? For a small business or office laserjet I'd suggest the LaserJet Pro M1217nfw. For a multifunction laserjet it should take care of all that you need done.

I run a small business from home designing personalised prints. I currently have them printed commercially but it is eating in to my profits. I was wondering if someone could recommend a printer?
My designs are predominantly a white design (usually text) on a solid colour background. I have tried an inkjet and the print quality was amazing, but I could only get about 10 prints and then the cartridges would run out (HP Envy 5530)
I have just recently purchased a laser printer (Brother HL3140) but the quality is terrible. The solid colour section has light lines all through it and has a criss-crossed effect.
Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I should probably have asked a few more questions. What country are you in? Are the backgrounds generally the same color? What color?
If the Instant Ink subscription service is available in your country that may be a good option. The Instant Ink service is a subscription based on the number of pages printed per month, without regard to what is printed. Instant Ink currently supports the following printers:

I'm new to the Mac world. I installed my Epson printer on my IMAC and it worked fine. Then I installed Windows7 through Bootcamp and I think it reconfigured a port and now I get a communication error and it won't print. Any help on how do to fix this?

How you enable double-sided printing can depend on the applications from whick you wish to print. Example: if I print to my HP PhotoSmart from Safari, I get this print dialog box:
(Edit: OOPS! Note that I forgot to switch printers when i took the scene-shots, so ignore the "Brother" reference. It's should look the same for your HP.
Note the selection labled "Safari" near the bottom. If I change that form "safari to "Layout: I get this:
Note the option for two-sided printing appears for your selection. If I print from Word, the box is different:
The "Copies & Pages" option can be changed to "Layout" when you click it, again allowing the selection of two-sided printing.

The iCloud backup only backs up your camera roll photos, not photo stream photos. Also, photos only remain in photo stream for 30 days. After that they are removed from your photo stream, but will remain on your devices that already have them. If all your photo stream photos are older than 30 days, that would explain why they don't stream to your iPhone 5 even though they are on your iPad.
To get them on your phone, you can use an app like PhotoSync, which will wirelessly transfer photos from any album (including photo stream) between your devices. Alternatively, you can save the photo stream photos to the camera roll on your iPad (by opening the My Photo Stream album, tap Edit, tap all the photos to select them, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll), then import them to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), put them in a folder, then select the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync them to your phone.
