i have no clue what to do and why it doesn't work. i have a wireless router but it doens't seen to want to connect to it. i have pick up a linksys adn it worked for a little then fails. can someone plz help me here

Go to the router admin page and turn the MAC filter off. Or, you can manually enter your iPT MAC ID inter the MAC filter list. This will do it.

Hi! My son and his mini have moved back to Vermont, and where he is only dial-up is available. I thought the hookup would be simple......I haven't a clue. The first bit of info is which Verizon number to use to dial-up, so that it is a local call. Is your son going to call from Essex Jct or somewhere else? Basically we need his area code and first three digits of phone number, if you are comfortable giving that. Otherwise you'll have to call Verizon and ask them for the local number to call.
Then we have to look up how Verizon wants login info. Perhaps another customer can help here. The conventions vary from one ISP to another. Please don't give us you login here!
That should be enough to get you connected and surfing. Then we have to configure the mail program. But again a little research or help from another Verizon customer will do the trick.
Please don't install their software. I've spent countless hours removing ISPs' extra software from friends computers. Such software does not necessarily make things faster and it leaves you with a non-standard system. It's also about getting their hooks into you to push more advertising at you and more revenue their way. (This helps explain why they are so eager for you to use their software BTW.)
There are techniques to speed up dial-up, but they don't involve extra ISP software and ads. They have to do with keeping the ads away in the first place.

IP Address - 192.168.1.64 ( mine is 64, the end number, depends on your network on windows)
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.1.254
DNS Server - 192.168.1.254.
i opened up the network manager and under connections i put in the details manually
i found these details by doing ipconfig on windows in cmd.

We were able to fix our machine! I just could not make sense of the error message, so we were trying non-Microsoft, non-Apple solutions.
Our Solution: Install MalWareBytes, and run a Quick Scan.
Even thought both Microsoft anti-virus and Defender were running on our Windows 8 machine, MalWareBytes found about 100 problems. As I looked over the types of problem and locations, I found several that referenced the exact directory referenced in this message. The machine had to be restarted for MalWareBytes to complete the cleaning, but iTunes installed afterwards with no problems.

Mainitaining a connection with the internet and skype

I don't understand my wife's powerbook system - hence the question.
It will not maintain its connection with the internet. Airport shows a signal but the actual internet connection will not function without going through the diagnosis EVERY time it is booted and mail is opened. It is as though there is a switch not automatically turning on.
Is there a setting which we are missing re maintaining a permanent link with the internet? If not, what can we do to solve this?
I work on MS and am lost on the Mac.

The internet is a conceptual entity not a physical entity so you are never connected to it.
As a conceptual entity the internet is represented by a cloud of computing devices (computers, gateways, routers, etc.)
Your computer connects to a another computer by being routed through various devices and then finally connecting to that remote computer.
Depending on various thing you can measure the time that you can connect to other devices by either pinging a common IP in the internet (such as yahoo.com) or by pinging the router that that represents the entry point for your cloud (such as the router/gateway of your ISP.)
If you are concerned about a particular connection, such a specific remote computer, then using a socket and sending a 'keep-alive' message and recieving the response is the best way to track that.

I have a mac book OSX 105.3 Leopard, which i purchased in the USA. Since arrivng in the Uk I have been ubable to connect to the internet. I was under the impression that once connected to a modem I would have the interenet. I tried connecting it to the cable modem in the place where I'm staying and nothing happens. It seems that nobody here has a mac, and there is no Apple store for me to go to ( Liverpool). I found one store that sells aplle products and they told me it need to be reconfigured???? The apple phone support are telling me it's the modem. I was going to get airport, but apple says that won't help. I've never had problems with any of my macs in the US, but here I feel stranded. Do I need to replace the cable modem with a wireless modem? Will this work as they are expensive and non refundable. Help!

Welcome to the Apple boards:
It could be an old modem that is not Leopard compatible.
You may need to borrow a PC in order to check and/or download the latest modem firmware.
Also temporarily turn off your firewall.
Do you have the instruction book for the modem?
If the modem is a NAT type (most are) the you should be able to access it directly by entering its IP address. Here in the US, it's usually 192.168.1.1 or .251. Apple uses the 10.x.x.x scheme and there is another one.
If you manage to access the modem this way, you might need a password. The cable company or the manual should have the defalt userid and password.
If you manage to get "inside" the modem, then you know that the problem is partially solved.
You might also use the Mac Network Utility.app to debug your system.
I don't think it is a compatibility issue, per se, but simply some settings that have to be changed.
There are many Leopard users in England and perhaps someone there can chime in and be of further assistance.

Need help connecting to the Wii

My sons just got the Wii and cannot get connected to the internet. Before I started messing with the Airport Admin Utility, it was at least detecting the access point but just not connecting. But now I can't even get it to detect the access point. I know it should work and I know there are other posts on here regarding this same issue, but I need somebody to walk me through it personally. I have already gone to support.nintendo.com and I still can't figure it out. Is there anybody out there willing to help me? PLEASE!

Were you able to get it hooked up? I have successfully set my Wii to catch a signal from my new Airport Extreme Base Station.
Make sure the AEBS is set to 802.11N (b/g compatible) and either has the wireless security off or WPA/WPA2 personal as a start.

I have downloaded Viber to my iphone 4S, it was previously working, but as of today it has continually asked for an internet connection when i try to make a call or send a message. It displays this message while connected to the internet at my home, or with 3g. my internet connections seems to work fine on other apps that require this. I have tried to reinstall viber but i can not not setup my profile becauase the same message displays. does anyone know how i can resolve this?

I plugged a cable from the laptop to the router. Normally it is wireless so basically I wired it. However, I was not able to access the routers admin section this way (or any internet pages for that matter). When I plug the internet cable that leads into the router (the one the ISPs signal comes in on) I can access the internet AND the router. I guess that I can access the router wireless, because there's no cabled connection in this situation..
Click status check the Ip address under internet …..if got a valid public Ip try going online .
When I access the status panel this way, I get an empty IP, gateway etc (0.0.0.0), probably because the router doesn't have the internet cable plugged in (that one's in the laptop).
if not click on set up...look for “mac address clone”….enable the service & click clone….click save settings....Do power cycle & see whether it is working or not....
This didn't really do much in this case. I presume "do power cycle" means pulling the power out and plugging the power back in?
If it helps any more, the laptop says it has a perfect wireless signal. But I'm fairly sure that that's always the case and it just goes wrong in the router itself. I hope this helps, if there's any more, let me know.
