Need help displaying message box.

hi, i have an application which takes pretty long to
run. The process basically consists of several sql
statements. My idea was to display a message box just
before the process starts saying something like "in
progress... please wait". Anyway i created a message
box using jdialog but the problem now is, it just
displays and empty box, the message is displayed only
when the process has finished running which is
useless. if i use the msg box elsewhere, it runs just
fine, only when it is placed before a block of long
running code (e.g a very big loop) it just does not
display the text.
Can anyone please advise me on this issue, thanks!If you don't want to get into threads and things like that, try the following?
1. Add some delay between the message box request and start of the query.
Like
for (int i = 0; i < 100000; i++) {} // you have to experiment with the limit. A second's worth should be enough to see if this makes any difference.
2 Add the method repaint(); after the message request.
3 Add the method repaint(); and delay after the message request but before the query request.

What's interesting to me is that an empty box is drawn. So my guess is if enough time (a second say) is given, the message box will be drawn completely. (Of course, I'm not sure.)

The application log is a tool to collect, save and display logs.
Many different applications collect messages in the application log which contain information or messages for the end user. The application automatically log serves as a temporary storage for messages. The logs are written on the database but they are not automatically deleted.
There is no general procedure for switching the application log on or off. Some applications provide this option or they offer the option of reducing the number of entries created. (See Notes 91519, 183960, 141244).
The expiration date of application logs
A log usually has an expiration date, which is set by the application, that calls the 'Application log' tool. If the application log does not set an expiration date, the 'Application log' tool sets the expiration date as 12/31/2098 or 12/31/9999,depending on the release, which allows the logs to stay in the system for as long as possible. The end user cannot set the expiration date. The expiration date does not mean that logs which have reached that date will automatically be deleted. It is used to control the deletion of logs when you call the Deletion report. The DEL_BEFORE flag in the BALHDR table determines whether or not the log can be deleted even before the expiration date is reached.
DEL_BEFORE= SPACE means that the log can be deleted before the expiration date is reached. (Default value)
DEL_BEFORE='X' means that the log can only be deleted after the expiration date.
Solution
Deleting the logs of the application log.
Releases >= 4.6A:

In Releases >= 4.6A, use Transaction SLG2.
On the selection screen you can restrict the amount of logs to be deleted:
The 'Object' and 'Subobject' fields specify the application area in which the logs were written (see F4 Help).
The 'External Identification' field specifies the number which was          provided for this log by the application.
o If you also want to delete logs which have not reached the expiration date you must set the option "Also logs which can be deleted before the expiration date".
Select 'Help with application' in Transaction SLG2 for further explanation of the procedure for deleting.
SLG2 is a report transaction. The corresponding report is SBAL_DELETE. At regular intervals, this can be scheduled as a background job.
Releases < 4.6A:

For Releases < 4.6A, note the following instructions:
In general, the deletion of application logs can be carried out in two steps:
1. Report RSSLG200: Deletion of all logs which expired:
Use report RSSLG200 to delete all logs whose expiration date is reached or exceeded. (This report is not yet available in the standard in Release 3.0F. In this case, the report can be installed in advance; see corrections attached to this note).
As of Release 3.1H, Report RSSLG210 is also available. This report allows the definition of a job that runs regularly and deletes such logs.
2. Report RSSLGK90: Deleting all logs for which a deletion is allowed before expiration:
Sometimes, step 1 does not delete enough logs. The reason for this might be that the expiration date of the logs is too far in the future or that no expiration date has been defined at all (in this case, depending
on the release, the assumed expiration date is 12/31/2098 or 12/31/9999)
Use report RSSLGK90 for these logs.
When you execute this report, you can restrict the logs to be deleted in a selection screen:
The fields 'Object' and 'Subobject' specify the application area which wrote the logs (see F4 help).
The field 'External number' indicates the number which was assigned by the application for this log.
Field 'Log class' indicates the importance of the log.
NOTE: By default, this field contains the value '4', this means only logs with additional information. If you want to delete all logs, enter the value '1' in this field. All logs with log class '1' or higher will then be deleted.
The fields 'To date' and 'Until time' refer to the creation date of a log.
If you enter 12/31/1998 and 23:59:59, you get all logs created in and before 1998

Client-dependency:
Note that the application log tables are client-dependent. Therefore, you must delete data in each client.
Which applications create entires in the application log:
To determine which applications create the logs, look in Table BALHDR to see which objects the logs were created for ( Transaction SE16, Table BALHDR, Field OBJECT). You can find the text description for the object in Table BALOBJT. The application is usually derived from the name and text of the object. The log is displayed in Transaction SL61. The display is restricted to certain objects, among other things.
Database error:
If very many data exists on the DB, Report RSSLGK90 might cause problems. In this case, implement Note 138715.
In very rare cases a dump is created even after Note 138715 was implemented:
    ABAP/4 runtime error DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR
    SQL error 1555 occurred accessing table "BALHDR "
    Database error text...: "ORA-01555: snapshot too old
If you cannot correct the error by means of database utilities, Note 368700 provides a way to bypass this error.
Report RSSLG200 can also run into problems. In this case, use the correction for Report RSSLG200 attached to this Note.
Expiration date in Report RSSLGK90:
There are logs on the database which may only be deleted explicitly after the expiration date (flag DEL_BEFORE = 'X' in table BALHDR). These logs are not deleted in advance by report RSSLGK90. Since, however, this flag is used very rarely, you can ignore this data.
Restriction of the quantity of log data by the application:
To avoid large quantities of logs from different applications, also refer to the following notes:

Archiving logs:
As of Release 6.20, it has been possible to archive logs.
The logs are archived via archiving object BC_SBAL.
The archiving programs are started via Transaction SARA (archive administration).
Via Support Packages, the archiving of application logs has been made available for Releases 4.6C (SAPKB46C27), 4.6D (SAPKB46D17), and 6.10 (SAPKB61011) as well.

In ideal situation when you create an user and user gets created successfully the user profile page displayed.
Now, if you want to show your message on top of that then you need to customize the Create User jsp.
If you want to show new screen with required message then you need to create an custom screen,action class and some modification in struts framework.

Please, I need help. I can not play video messages which send me friends. When I click the message error occur ,and tell me: "Oops, something went wrong. Please try again, or get in touch if you need help." I do not know what I should do. I tried many times to play video message. I updated skype, but nothing has changed. Does anyone know how to help me?

have a win app that calls the report, during rendering of report, the
win app will first create a temp table that holds all the fields for
the report, then the report is accessing that temptable. i want my report to display [not] included text for a field that contains the right value..here is the tricky part, the field is not in the temp table..is there a way for the crystal report to read the value of that certain field that is not in the temptable..so far.. i have a parameter     3 parameters, the value can be B/P/U          ?B / ?P /?U each parameter have its own formula: @havefieldvalue        if {?B} = "T" then            "" else "Not" same for the rest..if the report generated have B     then the report should display B - includedsame for the rest..

Need help displaying layouts

I'm new to Java swing but have read the tutorials.. maybe I'm just not very fast learner. However I need to display some things, but having problems doing so in JavaSwing.
Basically my display needs to be like this
Name: <textfield>
Address: <textfield>
Are you married? <yes option> <no Option>
My problem is the yes and no options. If I make the Grid 3 columns then the textfields are displayed in the 2nd column rather than spreading across the 2nd and 3rd columns. The other thing is I want all the Labels (name, address, are you married) to be on one left column while the other items are in another column. I guess this is kinda like a nest panel or something? I'm not really sure. Are there examples of how to do something like this? I learn best by examples.

Swinging :) is kinda like a top-down * bottom-up approach (mix of both). So you gotta think from the top and implement from the bottom. (We can call this design-down, implement-up neh? :)
1. Essentially, you need three rows, with two columns.
2. First column contains three rows of the same size.
3. Second column contains three rows too.
a. First and second rows of second column span the entire row.
c. Last row is split into two.
Make a label panel for holding the labels such as "Name" and "Address". Make this a grid panel of 3 rows and 1 column. Call this LPANEL
Now make another panel, this also with three rows and one column using a grid layout. Call this the FPANEL.
Now, add a textfield to the first two rows.
For the last, create a new panel with a grid layout with size 1x2 (1 row, 2 columns). Call this the OPANEL. Add it to the FPANEL last. So, now you have two panels. How do you ensure they line up?
Set the same margin sizes (and insets) for all components/grid layouts.
Finally, make a MPANEL (main panel) which uses grid bag layout. You want your FPANEL to expand to fill the MPANEL but the LPANEL should be constant no? So we use gridbaglayout and add LPANEL with normal constraints (read up on the constrainst and how to use gridbaglayout :). Add FPANEL with gridbagconstraints that cause it to fill the remainder of the space ("remainder" is the key here).

Now, I would make your life easier by recommending you use netBeans for desiging UI's or Eclipse. But, a year of swinging by hand will give u enuf expertise that when u do start using netBeans etc, you will have be able to get the maximum out of them.

Presumably you're using swing for this? (ie are you importing javax.swing.*?)
If so then why not use a JList or JTable to display the results?
The code below creates a JList in a JFrame. You pass your array of student records (I don't know what you've called it so you'll need to change the constructor slightly) when you create it.
Call new ListDisplay(studentList) to have a (very) basic JList containing your student data. You will need to override the toString() method of your student type class so that it outputs the right data, ie:

for Example: In my IDOC 1 field is showing companycode but I want to see that field as a BUKRS.
How to see the technical names of IDOC fields in Message Mapping.

I dont think we would be able to see the data element names of the IDOC in XI. Even the imported XSD of Idoc doesnot contain data element name.
We would be only dealing with the field names/ structure of the IDOC for field message mappings. The field names are internally mapped to the data element names in SAP R3 system.
To view the internal mapping between field names and data element names of the Idoc fields, you can go to the transaction 'WE30'. Give the basic type of the Idoc and go to the segment editor. You can find the data element names for each field name there.

Need help displaying images with List component for Flash CS4 (ActionScript 3.0)

Hi folks:
I am an inexperienced user of Flash CS4 Pro (v10.0.2). I am attempting to use the List component with ActionScript 3.0 to make a different image display when a user clicks each item in a list.
I did find a tutorial that showed me how to make different text display using a dynamic text box and the following ActionScript:

...where My List is the instance of the List component and ListText is the dynamix text box. However, as I mentioned to start, what I really want to do is make images display instead of text. Can anyone provide me the steps to do this?

Hi...thanks for responding! I was planning on using images from the Library, but if there is a better way to do it, I'm open. So far, I just have text in the data property. This is part of my problem. I don't know what I need to put in the data value for an image to display. Do I just put the image file name and Flash will know to pull it from the Library? Do I need to place the images on the stage on different frames? I apologize for the "stupid user" questions, but as you can tell, I'm a newbie.

NEED HELP error messages - cannot install iTunes upgrade

I'm running Windows Vista.
I've been using iTunes for about a year, no problem.
When I went to download the iTunes latest version I have had nothing but problems. I keep getting this error message on trying to install the upgrade for iTunes, and now I cannot even use iTunes:
iTunes could not be installed because Visual Basic Script (VBscript) is not installed or has been disabled. Make sure VBscript is installed, turn off script blocking in anti-virus and personal firewall software, re-register VBscript, and then install iTunes.
I have no idea what that message means and I need step by step directions on how to find out of perform whatever that message means.

NEED HELP - Text Messages showing up hours later and no more notifications

Up until about 3 weeks ago, I was very in love with my S3 as it worked perfectly. Then about 3 weeks ago (March 12 or so) I started receiving my text messages hours or days after they were sent. We then went to Canada for a week and I had no mobile data. The issue with my messaging continued, except now I rarely get a notification when I get them. I have been back a week and it has gotten worse. The messages seem to come all at one time once or twice a day, there is no notification when they come, and I am occasionally missing messages. It does not matter who the messages are from. I have rebooted the phone multiple times. I have tried using Handcent SMS instead of the default messaging application to no avail.
Is there something going on with Verizon Text messages?
Is there another place to go besides the following to set notifications?
Messaging
Menu
Settings
Notifications
Check everything, Default Ringtone, and Alert Once
Since this started before we went to Canada, I do not think that was the cause. Although, there were several times that I got the message Updating Sim Card information when we were there and I had the wrong time a lot of the time.

So today I go to send a text and get one from last night. Don't get the sound but it did show up on my notification bar. I sent the text and realized my clock was off by an hour. I went into settings, Date/Time and both are set to Automatic, but for some reason it is showing Central Time Zone. I uncheck Automatic Time Zone and set it to Mountain Time Zone, exit Settings, and perform a Shut-Down. Pull the battery, Sim Card, and SD Card and reboot the phone. Go back into Date/Time and reset it Automatic. This time it stays in the Mountain Time Zone.
Could I possibly need a new Sim Card?
Please Help. I really do not have time to go wait in line for an hour at the Verizon store for them to tell me that they will have to look into it and then not get back to me for a few weeks, if at all.

Need Help with Message Mapping in PI 7.1 - JDBC to IDOC

I have an outgoing SQL function that sends multiple rows of data for use in creating an IDOC in ECC. I am trying to key the creation of new IDOCs (already did the maxOccurs trick to the IDOC definition) based on a field in the JDBC return data...

SEGNAM - TRANS_ID - MATERIAL - VKORG...ETC
MARA - 00001 - 1234 - <space> - ...
MARC - 00001 - 1234 - VK01 - ...
MARA - 00002 - 9876 - <space> - ...
MAKT - 00002 - 9876 - <space> - material description - ...
Each time there is a new TRANS_ID, I need to indicate a new IDOC in the message mapping. I have tried all kinds of combinations of TRANS_ID --> dropContext --> splitValue and TRANS_ID --> collapseContext --> splitValue, but nothing has worked.
Has anyone done this kind of message map (without any BPM please)?

Hello Nathan,
For this one, you have to play with contexts.
row 1 SEGNAM = MARA, TRANS_ID = 1, MATNR = 123...
row 2 SEGNAM = MARC, TRANS_ID = 1, MATNR = 123, WERKS = PL01...
row 3 SEGNAM = MARA, TRANS_ID = 2, MATNR = 987
This also depends on the occurrence of the parent node. example, if I want MATNR to be populated, the logic would be like
ex:
IDOC1..unbounded) (The logic is the already provided in an earlier response)
-->MATNR (1..1)
MATNR --------> removeContext ----------------> FormatByExample --> MATNR
TRANS_ID --> removeContext --> splitByValue:ValueChange --> /
If the rows are not in order of trans_id, then you need to incorporate sorting into the logic above.
