Need help filling out forms in Adobe Reader 10.

Just upgraded to Adobbe Reader 10. How can I fill out forms?  There is no hand tool. I checked the security of the document. It states that filling out forms is allowed.  Please help. There is no way that the sender of the document expected it to be filled out by hand.  Thanks!!!

That only means that IF it had filable fields, you would be alowed to fill them in. It does not mean that those fields exist. If it's fillable, you would get a notification at the top of the PDF.

  • Can I save a filled out form in adobe reader

How do I save a filled out form in adobe reader?

When you fill out a filled out form in Adobe Reader, it is saved automatically when you quit the app (unless you crash). You could email the filled form, and it will open correctly filled out on Reader or Acrobat on Mac or Windows. (Warning: It may not look like it got filled out if you view it in Mail, Dropbox, or another iOS app, but it will appear correctly in Reader or Acrobat.)

  • Filling in forms with adobe reader in firefox on ubuntu64

    Hi
I am trying to fill in pdf forms with adobe reader 8.12 in firefox 3.03 and ubuntu64 8.04.
The forms display in firefox and I can check boxes, but when I try to select a text box I am unable to type. I can enter text by right clicking on the box and pasting. I also cannot use tab to move between boxes.
If I save a pdf to disk and open it with adobe reader then I can enter text and cycle through boxes with tab.
Sometimes I am unable to load pdfs in firefox that I have viewed before. When I click on the link a blank page is displayed. I can open them if I set firefox to open them externally with acroread rather than in the browser window.
    Thanks for any help.
    Paul

It's completely up to the IRS to create a form where the information fits in the field. There is nothing you can do with Reader since it is simply what it is called, a reader.
For you to change the document properties would require using the full version of Acrobat.

  • Need help filling out pdf forms on iPad

Adobe Reader (11.0.1) on my iPad2 (iOS 6.1.3) is not letting me fill out a form (just a bunch of text fields) that was created with Acrobat 8 Pro/LiveCycle. The form can be filled out fine with Reader 11.x on my WinXP desktop though. Any ideas?

No, you'll be just the same.
You need to not use LiveCycle Designer, but make the form in Adobe Acrobat. Everything you know about making forms in LiveCycle Designer will not help you at all.
These are a different kind of form, made differently, and with different features (e.g. they are always static in layout).
Also, you start with an existing PDF (not a form) for all the background and fixed text, then just add fields.
There are other things to do like avoid JavaScript. Start with very simple forms and test features, there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list.

  • I need help filling out my form

i jus recently recieved an application to fill out and i cant fill out the form with the adobe. please help me fill out my form

If the people that created the form didn't add fillable form fields, all you can do is print it and fill it out by hand.

  • How to fill out form using adobe?

I downloaded adobe to fil out the form but i cant still open it.

You either need to purchase Adobe Acrobat Pro, or go to a place such as http://www.pdfescape.com/ to fill out the form.  There is an edit functionality in Preview application, but that doesn't always fill out all types of forms.

  • Problem Filling a form in Adobe Reader X

Recently, I've been getting error messages when I try to view a PDF file in Internet Explorer 9. I decided to uninstall Adobe Reader X (10.1.3) and reinstalled it, and seems to be working now.
Today, I was trying to fill in some tax-related forms and a form for school, which are both "fillable" pdf forms. I know that they are fillable, because I have already filled them the same way (via Adobe Reader X) in the past. When I try to fill them now, I see the purple message bar that says "Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records". I have also tried to click on the "Highlight Existing Fields" button, but this doens't seem to work (and the fillable fields are not highlighted in purple).
I am able to click each field and see a black boarder around the selected field. Sometimes, I also see the indicator "I" but when I begin to type, nothing that I type appears in the field. I even try to use the "Add text" feature under the "sign" tab on the right-hand side of the window, the options to "Add Text", "Place Signature" and "Done Signing" are greyed out and cannot be clicked.
What do I do? I have already tried uninistalling and re-installing Adobe Reader X, but have had no luck. Is there any way to downgrade to Adobe Reader X (10.1.2) in case that version works better?
    Thanks

PDF files have to be specially enabled for you to save the contents. It appears the old version of these files had this capability, but the new version does not. Without Acrobat you will be unable to save the files. If these are truly government files, you can try going to the government's website and see if you can download a copy that will allow you to save the form field data.

If you have difficulties filling online forms, make sure you use a browser that uses the Adobe Reader plugin.

  • Filling in Forms with Adobe Reader 9

I'm working on filling in a form, designed by the IRS, for one of my clients.  I'm using Adobe Reader 9, and the form has been assigned document rights, allowing me to fill in the appropriate fields.  There are several multi-line fields in the document, for addresses and other contact information, and the default font size is too large for many of these fields to be fully displayed when printed.
I've attempted to use the properties toolbar I've seen suggested by other users, but when the text is selected, the box either tells me that no selection has been made or simply displays my logon for the company network as having authored the document.
Is there a way to actually make this text fit in the allocated boxes so that it is fully displayed when I print the document for submission to a government agency?  Why doesn't Adobe make this feature more easily accessible?  I've seen many problems/complaints related to this issue within this, and several other releases of Adobe's product.  Any insight is appreciated.

If you want to raise your web design skill level above that of the average iWeb user, you can try creating your own. The actual form layout is fairly easy if you use CSS to style it since the amount of HTML is minimal now that table layouts are a thing of the past.
Here's some examples of forms created in iWeb...

The formmail.php script is probably the hardest part to get your head around and the example provided in the download on the above page uses a very simple one along with a formmail-thank.php.

Nowadays we need to consider mobile device users more and more so forms need to have the special inputs required to launch the various types of keyboard on these devices.
Here's an example of a form which responds to browser/device width. On mobile devices, the
jQuery UI Datepicker disappears to be replaced by the mobile version.
For those of you who don't have a mobile device to test it on, this page also has illustrations of the various keyboard types and the alternative date pickers...

  • Blinking I beam, but still cant fill out form

I have reader 9. I need to fill out forms. So far I have had two that I have tried, both fillable with allowed access. I have a blinking I beam, but when I hit the keys, I get nothing, the curser just blinks at me in that ha, ha kind of way. Please help me figure this out, it has to be something simple I'm missing. Note:My comp was recently restored, and my PC guys put reader 9 on it for me. Not much else on my comp right now to interfere with it. Let me know. Thanks!

    They probably are not fillable.
Choose the hand tool. When you mouse over the fields does it turn in to an i-beam? If not then no, they aren't fillable.

How do you know this? If you are simply looking at what is allowed in Fiule>Properties>Security, all that is saying that IF it were a fillable form, you would be allowed to fill it out.

  • Acrobat Pro 7, Adobe Reader 8, and Filled out forms

My head is spinning with all the "Acrobat features" that seem to be in Acrobat, but actually aren't. At least not in the version I always seem to have. I wish Adobe would be more diligent in explaining what features are are in which version and what features are in the Windows version that aren't in the Mac version.
I'll do a search for a particular question. Get an answer of Yes, Acrobat can do that. Only to find out (through trial and error and usually not the article I'm reading) that I can't do what I what I want in the version I have.
To my question: We are using Acrobat 7 (CS2) to make forms for people to fill out and return to us. The people filling out the forms will mostly be in Adobe Reader 8.
How can we get those folks to send us the filled out form? I have yet to get that to work. I have Reader 8 on my machine and when I use the Submit Button method, Reader tells me SendMail can't recognize my mail client, but then gives me no way of fixing that? Where are SendMail preferences? SendMail isn't even in the Help menu!
    Any insight would be appreciated...

There is a New feature in Acrobat 8, that allows usage rights (you have to choose in tools menu, to allow it.
For small companies and Non-Profits, Adobe threw us a Bone. As long as as you receive no more than 500 respondents you can do this without breaking the EULA. (License agreement).
What you do is create your form make sure you have perfected and needs no changes. then turn on this item in Tools menu to allow Fill out and email. Then post to a website or send individually to no more than 500 people by email. They can fill out the form save the changes then send back.
However when you do this any person using Acrobat Pro 7 or Acrobat 8, or Reader 7 or 8 can do this. doesn't work bellow version 7. But Acrobat 8 is the only one (so far Than can create these.
If you make a mistake in the form and find it after turning usage rights on you have to save a copy with rights turn of and make your changes then go through procedure again.
