Need help getting remote server directory correct

I am ready to upload my site to my server. I have tested my FTP in Dreamweaver and it works fine. Now I want to put my index.html file up. When I try the site address is wrong. I want it to say "www.mysite.com/index.html" but it says "www.mysite.com/mysite.com/index.html.  I have looked and looked at all the help sites I can find and I can't figure this out. I have moved my site location on my local computer but that didn't work either.
Keep it simple please. I am really a newbe at all this.
thanks
gretchen

Let's go back a step.
In your original post you said
"When I try the site address is wrong. I want it to say "www.mysite.com/index.html" but it says www.mysite.com/mysite.com/index.html"
Is the "mysite.com" hypothetical or the actual address of your domain?
The screenshot you posted from your remote server definition shows me that your domain is www.fullsailbooks.com
At your FTP address (ftp.fullsailbooks.com) there may be several folders. In one of those folders is your website which the world can see.
In the Host Directory box in the Remote Server definition, DW is asking you in which folder the website lives. This information is always supplied by your website host usually via a welcome email.
It may be blank or "public_html" or "html" or "http" or something else.
It doesn't seem to be www.fullsailbooks.com since you get an error using that.
What does the original email sent to you by your website host say exactly?

  • Need help getting remoting going

    As the topic title says, I'm seeking help getting Flash 8 to
    communicate with CFMX7. I'm in Mac OS X and so far I've gotten
    everything working perfectly except remoting. I installed the Flash
    8 Remoting components and verified that the remoting classes are
    there and that NetConnect Debugger is in the Window menu within
    Flash 8. Here is the actionscript I'm using right now:
    // Import remoting class
    import mx.remoting.*;
    import mx.remoting.debug.NetDebug;
    NetDebug.initialize();
    // Specify the location of the remoting gateway
    var remoteGateway = "
    http://localhost:8100/flashservices/gateway?";
    // Application intialization
    if (appInit == null) { // do the following code only once
    appInit = true;
    // Set the default gateway URL (this is used only in
    authoring)
    NetServices.setDefaultGatewayUrl(remoteGateway);
    // Connect to the gateway
    gateway_conn = NetServices.createGatewayConnection();
    // Get the applications modules and store them to variables
    testModule =
    gateway_conn.getService("extranetApp.modules.testCFC", this);
    // Remoting test - Call function in test module, which
    returns list of user names
    function getUsers() {
    testText.text = "retrieving users...";
    testModule.getAllUsers();
    function getAllUsers_Result(result) {
    trace("loading data...");
    testText.text = "" + result.getItemAt(0).FirstName;
    testText.text = "please wait..."
    getUsers();
    // End Remoting test
    And here is the code in the "testCFC.cfc" file that Flash is
    supposed to communicate with:
    <cfcomponent output="false" hint="Returns user
    records">
    <cffunction name="getAllUsers" returnType="query"
    access="remote"
    hint="Returns a recordset of all first and last names in the
    Users table."
    output="false">
    <!--- Query the database for the records --->
    <cfquery name="qUserNames"
    datasource="#APPLICATION.dsn#">
    SELECT FirstName, LastName
    FROM Users
    ORDER BY LastName
    </cfquery>
    <!--- Return the query --->
    <cfreturn qUserNames>
    </cffunction>
    </cfcomponent>
    I've successfully tested that CFMX7 is retrieving data from
    the database, so I know the CFC query code is correct. And I've got
    CFMX7 running on localhost:8100, so I'm pretty sure the remoting
    gateway path is correct too. But the life of me, I can't get the
    data to come through in Flash. And of course the NetConnection
    Debugger isn't working at all either so I can't see what's going
    on.
    Can anyone offer me some help, please?

    I tested your code using the cfartgallery sample datasource
    and was able to get it working. The only thing I noticed is I got
    data as undefined if the case for FirstName was different than the
    cfc with the line
    testText.text = "" + result.getItemAt(0).FirstName;
    Did you check the {cfmx-root}/logs/flash.log for errors?
    Here's the code I used which was based on where I had the
    flash file and the cfc:
    // Import remoting class
    import mx.remoting.*;
    import mx.remoting.debug.NetDebug;
    NetDebug.initialize();
    // Specify the location of the remoting gateway
    var remoteGateway = "
    http://localhost:8500/flashservices/gateway";
    // Application intialization
    if (appInit == null) { // do the following code only once
    appInit = true;
    // Set the default gateway URL (this is used only in
    authoring)
    NetServices.setDefaultGatewayUrl(remoteGateway);
    // Connect to the gateway
    gateway_conn = NetServices.createGatewayConnection();
    // Get the applications modules and store them to variables
    testModule =
    gateway_conn.getService("tests.webservices.testCFC", this);
    // Remoting test - Call function in test module, which
    returns list of user names
    function getUsers() {
    testText.text = "retrieving users...";
    testModule.getAllUsers();
    function getAllUsers_Result(result) {
    trace("loading data...");
    testText.text = "" + result.getItemAt(0).FirstName;
    testText.text = "please wait..."
    getUsers();
    // End Remoting test

  • Unable to get page with video to validate and need help getting text to display correctly

    I need advice on getting a page to validate that has a video. I didn't make the video, but all other pages vallidate that don't have it.
    Also, when testing viewing on ie with large font view the navigation bar on the left doesn't display correctly. I've tried all fixes I can think of, but none work.
    As always any advice is greatly appreciated.
    page can be viewed at: http://www.lotusvalleydesigns.com/previewpages/services.html

    Eeeeeuuuuu yuck.  You know, I've never used that setting in IE and I don't think I ever will again.
    Look what happens to CNN's website when you do that.
    http://CNN.com
    I think IE sucks and this is another fine example of MS's zeal to pile on user options that no one should use.  If MS made their zoom feature optional the way Firefox does, nobody would ever need this atrocious "accessibility" option.
    Good luck,

  • I need help getting Podcast to categorize correctly

    When I got my new computer, I accidently wiped out all my iPod stuff so I had to resubscribe and download the Podcasts I listen to. For some reason, when they load onto my iPod, they dont go into the podcast section. They go in the music section instead. It is strange because one of the podcast episodes (the newest episode) went in the correct category (the podcast category). I subscribe to two podcasts, and out of both of them, both had the most recent episode go into the podcast section, but all the others went into "music". I tried fixing the tags to see if there was a place in there to put the category but it didnt help. I tried dragging and dropping them into the iPod section in itunes and cutting and pasteing but it would't let me. What I am confused about also is that in itunes on the left under "libraries" where it says "podcast", all the episodes show up there, but under where my iPod is and there is the podcast section, it only shows the one (most current) podcast download in grey. I tried to go to add library or whatever it was in that window but it didnt do anything. Please help me!!!

    The Canon brand black and white multiple function laser printer has links to some support information from the Canon USA here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/black_whi te_laser_multifunction/imageclass_mf5950dw
    There is a section with button click-ons to look into other pages from the above, one is for 'wireless help' with some information on setup, basics. Some of these go full-circle back to the beginning without detailed help. I do see a page to look into Drivers appears there.
    Not sure if the drivers for the unit may be the cause of the problem, but in their web page Driver for the printer model you have, they show an 'auto detect' selection of drivers for the OS X present in a Mac, from the link above.
    And they have a link in the buttons box to check into Support by email,
    phone, etc; these do not open into another page address.
    • PS: you could try connecting to the printer via IP address...
    if the issue isn't drivers or setup.
    see suggestion here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20145807#20145807
    Not sure if this will help.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Defining Alias for Remote server Directory / Path

    Hi All,
             In my process chain I have an open hub process after which I have an abap program which sends out the data to a file on a remote server directory. But when it executes the program, it cannot find the path mentioned although I checked whether it is correct.
    I have also seen in several instances that for the remote server directory / path, the entire path is not typed in the variant's selection screen; instead it seems like an ALIAS. For example, if the path is
    w3n2-s501\javaappserver_test_staging\m234\sapdata on remote server w3n2-s501, then the  selection screen fileds show up like this:
    Remote Server Directory/Path     P               SAPTEST
    Remote Server Name                     P                          w3n2-s501
    Does anyone know where this SAPTEST would be defined for the remote directory path?
    Thanks!

  • Need help getting YTD total

    I've got a period to date report with following columns:
    week1 tots, week2 tots, week3 tots, week4 tots, week5 tot, period-to-date tots, year-to-date tots
    I have a SELECT statement which totals data for the entire year and separates current period totals
    by grouping on the week_nbr . Any date between beginning of year and the end of the previous period will be week 0
    The Select statement retursn 6 rows: 1 for each week in period and one with week_nbr = 0 which represents the totals from the beginning of year
    to the end of the previous period.
    the select statement returns the data correctly . I need help getting the YTD total for (weeks 1 - 5) + (totals for week 0) for each column.
    This means that I will have a 7th record containing the YTD totals. ( I am not concerned with the PTD totals)
    I tried sum by partition but complex decode statement gave me problems.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
    Thanks for posting the CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements; that's very helpful. You could teach something to some people who have been using this forum for years (except that nobody can teach them).

    I need help with Mavricks Server, I get the following: an error occurred while configuring your server.  I have deleted the Server.app several times along with the associated com.apple and Server folder.  Any more help would be appreciated.

    There are usually some log files around, related to the installation.  See if Console.app (Applications > Utilities) shows anything relevant to the error, when you've done a fresh install of Server.app and tried the configuration.

    My old computer crashed, I downloaded iTunes on my new computer and need help getting all of my stuff on it that I had. I did 'home share' to see if that worked, and it didnt.
    Also, on my old computer, when I synced my iPad & my husbands iPod, it didnt sync any music or podcasts, no videos-and i went through each category seperately to sync it and it didnt work. So I can't sync my devices to the new iTunes bc not everything is on there that i have purchased.

    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comuter for just this occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
    If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

  • TS4268 I need help getting my face time and imessage to work.

    I need help getting my face time and imessage to work. It is saying wating for activation. I just got my iphone 5 2 days ago. I have reset it from the phone and from itunes on the computer, made sure I'm attached to wifi.

    The 3 basic troubleshooting steps are these in order: 1. Restart your iphone  2.  Reset your settings/iphone  3.  Restore your iphone.  Since your iphone is only a couple of days old, you should backup your device before restoring.  If you don't have anything on your iphone that you care to lose, then simply restoring without a backup is fine.  A quick reset of pressing the sleep/wake button (top of iphone) and your home button simultaneously and holding it until the silver Apple logo appears.
