When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

When you say reset, do you mean a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignoring the red slider if it appears?

Need help from Jeff in getting CC desktop application
Jeff, I was unable to find my previous question to you from the other day. To start over, my CC desktop application is gone missing after 10 months of CC usage. I need to download a LR update so I can use my camera with raw files. How can I get this back? Apparently Adobe doesn't allow reinstalling of individual programs even though I actually own LR. Please redirect me accordingly. I need help. I have win 7 64.
GeneCGenec2 locking this discussion and will respond in CC desktop app icon missing.

480-262-7881Hello,
Did you copy the 2 JAR files in your /forms/java directory ?
Did you add them to your /forms/server/formsweb.cfg file (archive_jini tag) ?
As always when a Java Bean is in the game, display the Java Console at runtime to see if any error are raised.

Need help downloading entire CS5.5 Design Premium application
I own CS5.5 Design Premium and I want to download it onto my new Mac. Except, this Mac does not have a place to put my installation CD in. So I am wanting to download Design Premium either in trial version or whatever in which I will input my serial number and thus have full access to all the design premium applications. Yet, I am unable to find the trial version for CS5.5 Design Premium... I have tried to download it via this link here but each time the download does not seem to work/finish. I think it is because it is the full version and believes that I don't have a serial number. I'm not sure. Someone please help me.

Help!! Kernel panics after installation!!
Hi,
I am new to Arch Linux (migrating from Fedora). I am having some problems with the installation on my Sony VAIO CW (C2D, Nvidia GT230M). At first I couldn't get past the installation of X in the Beginner's guide, but after some tweaking with conf files I finally got it to work. But after reboot, kernel panic occured. This started happening intermittently from there onwards. Then I tried to install GNOME which failed miserably as in it panics and crashes everytime system starts.
Then I tried KDE and things are much better compared to GNOME. The problem is whenever I try logging into a new KDE session, kernel panics. Only KDE Failsafe mode works (with sound). I honestly dont know what to do as I have no idea why the problem is occuring also. I plan to stay with Arch, as nouveau works much better than it used to in Fedora (3d support). Can anybody help with this issue?

I need help to recover/relink mail after archive and install
I am helping my friend fix her 15" G4 PowerBook after memory failures caused many crashes. There was no recovering short of a reinstall via "archive and install". All that worked great, but now Mail doesn't recognize the accounts, mailboxes, signatures, etc. that are still located in the user/library/mail folder.
What's up with that? I can't figure out how to relink Mail to this stuff.
Here's more detail:
1) After lots of prior debugging (Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, Apple Hardware Test, single-user commands per Apple tech notes), I did the A&I to 10.3.4 from the original disks.
2) Per Dr. Smoke and The X Lab, I ran the 10.3.9 combo installer right away so that the "older" system would not get confused by the "newer" stuff in the Previous Systems folder.
3) I Launched Mail and it started anew, i.e. didn't recognize accounts and wanted to start over.
Thanks for any help. The account settings are stored in HOME/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. It looks like that file became corrupt -- maybe its permissions went awry (Disk Utility cannot fix that) and Mail just deleted the file to create a new one.
If your friend doesn't have a backup copy of that file, just set up the accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don't. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in HOME/Library/Mail/ when done.
You'll also have to re-configure most settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it's enabled. -
Hard Drive Crash - need help with choosing new drive and installation
My hard drive seems to have crashed. My computer froze, and when I tried to reboot, it got stuck at the startup screen. I started from the system CD, ran the disk repair utility, and it said it could not repair the disk. I ran Tech Tool Pro and it could not repair the disk. I tried to start up in Target disk mode while connected to my older G4 iMac (that I'm using now as my backup), and the disk would not mount. So I need some expert advice - I am assuming the hard drive is toast. I wish I could at least mount it in target disk mode to transfer files, but I haven't been able to do that. I was going to take it in for repair (or possibly buy a new computer), but after reading some of the posts here, I am thinking I could just replace the internal hard drive with a 3.5" SATA drive.
What I need to know is am I correct about this? And is this the right kind of drive for my iMac? Are there any specifications I need to be aware of when ordering a new drive? I downloaded the manual explaining how to replace the drive and it looks doable. I would appreciate any guidance as to choosing the new drive (specific brand names/models would be great), installing the drive, and tips for formatting, etc. Thanks in advance for your help!Welcome to Discussions - any 3 1/2" SATA drive will be fine, go to [macsales.com] or [smalldog.com] or [newegg.com] and choose whichever drive fits your wallet. Most of them are reliable, I have heard of problems with Seagate and Hitachi, but there are always some failures with any brand. Make sure to get a good warranty.Instructions will come with the drive, but you can download them from [Apple|http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac> as well.
