• Need help identifying apple part #

My logic board on my G5 is done (according to the geniuses). No apple care, 2 years old, and $2,000 to fix. I've found what someone is selling as a new G5 logic board and has it listed as Apple part # 630-6692. I've googled and googled and can't find ANYTHING that has this number. Does anyone know what this is? Or, where I might find a used logic board for a G5 Dual 2.5 machine????

most parts are "661":
http://www.welovemacs.com/appomacg5du241.html
as you can see, some boards also have "revisions" like "1" or "2" and revisions depend on processors and you'd need to look at parts list for your serial number to determine what goes with what.
"630" thing on ebay got some kind of aluminum heat sink in the middle, and does not really look like PM G5 board (maybe that's why it's photographed in shielded bag)
if it's Apple part, seller could post a pic from the sticker on the box, as a guess that thing could be anything - some printer or server board.

• Need to identify model no for Pavilion G6 laptop

Non-standard information label on case.  Label appears to be hybrid Windows Key code also including HP codes, but no code is identified (ie no s/n;p/n prefix).
Likely product codes included are:
       584037-001
       X16-96072
However neither of these codes are accepted on HP web-site.
Can anyone help identify correct HP product/model code?
This question was solved.

Hi,
Might be worth checking the alternative label tags shown under sub-heading 'View additional label samples' on the page Here.

• Need help identifying socket part

i recently tried to repair my ibook g4 14" and i the process of pulling the power adapter microphone cable connector, (the blue and white cable that plugs into the logic board in the upper left hand side right next to the phone cable) i pulled the socket out of the logic board, does anyone here know what that piece is or where i can find it and is it even possible to repair this on my own, any help would be greatly appreciated, on the side of piece it says "aces 02" if that helps

Hey Ryan,
.. i pulled the socket out of the logic board, does anyone here know what that piece is or where i can find it and is it even possible to repair this on my own,
That's the power socket and I have done that as well. I made a special tool to do that now so I don't do that anymore.
I have repaired two of these but you need some experience soldering SMT circuits.
In both cases the trace under the socket is tiny tiny so I had to trace continuity to the opposite side of the circuit board. These were discrete SMT devices and were gigantic compared to the traces. I led the wires back through the board and soldered them to the bottom of the socket where the traces had pulled out.
Since this happens so often I recommend that you don't disconnect this plug if at all possible. Rather swing the top case out of the way and tape it to the display along with the top shield.

Hi,
I was having trouble with my CZ, so I opened it up and I forgot to take the battery cord off the other side of the player and hence I broke the little tan color piece. I was wonder if this was fixable? I tried glue but that didn't work. Here is a picture of the part:

• Need help identifying this part!! MBP 13" i5 2.5gig

Hi all, I opened up my mac to try and fix a dent in the case. Accidentally knocked off the tiniest of pieces from the logic board and I have no idea what it is. It looks like this (the picture is zoomed in):

Does anyone know what it is or what it does? Here is the piece in context with the rest of the logic board:

Any help would be much appreciated!

Looks like a spacer or a pin on which another component sits to maintain separation from the logic board.  Looks like there should be more than one, though.
Go to www.iFixit.com and find the tear-down pix for your MacBook Pro and see if it shows up in there.

I need help identifying an old Macintosh game: it was a painting game where you rode a roller coaster to an art museum and you got to pick what kind of art work you were going to make. It was animated, 2D i believe. This was the early 90's and I've been trying to hunt it down. I think there was some kind of animal in it, a giraffe maybe?

Could you be thinking of Microsoft Home's "Fine Artist" for Macintosh, as shown in this Amazon.com listing?  This program was bundled with the Performa series of Macs during the mid-90s.

I need help identifying which Magsafe Power Adapter I need for my Macbook Pro Model A1398, EMC 2673?

Provided the computer-end fits, you are free to use one with a HIGHER Wattage rating. No damage whatsoever will be done to any component, but it will likely run cooler (but may be slightly heavier).
If you use one with too LOW a Wattage rating, you will not be able to charge and run at the same time, and your computer's top speed (for its most intensive computations) will be limited.

• MSI P67A-G43 (B3) - Need help identifying this postcode

Need help identifying this postcode:
CPU:i7-2600k
Mobo:MSI P67A-G43 (B3)
PSU: Corsair 750w
GPU isn't the problem since I replaced it and still get this postcode. RAM isn't the problem since I've tried four different sticks one at a time in each slot and still get the postcode. Getting no live video from the GTX580 and no onboard video. I think either the mobo or the CPU is the problem, don't want to have to send both in for RMA so if anyone can help me identify the postcode that'd be great.

Hey Ctrl
Well I happen to have the same beep code on my motherboard (P67A-C43 B3), after trying different suggestions from the MSI forum users and MSI technical support I ended up RMA(ing) my motherboard.
You can try resetting the CMOS, by flipping the battery and leaving it like that for 5 minutes and putting it back to its original side. I highly doubt it is your cpu. Like anybody in the forum might suggest, try different components which appears you already did. I doubt your corsair is faulty. CPU and motherboard are your best bet that are faulty, and i highly doubt that it is the CPU because for there to find another person (you) that had the same problem as me since last friday (RMA board yesterday, wednesday) I find it highly unlikely.

• Need help identifying controller information in hyperdraw

Hello,
Sorry if this is a dumb questions, but I'm in the middle of a project and need help ASAP. In one of my tracks (Real Guitar) there is some form of controller information present at the start of the track and I have no clue what it is! Is there a preference/key command that shows all data in hyperdraw, and then lets you select it (similar to the way the matrix editor works if you double click in the background, and then click on a specific note?)
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Jonathan,
I use the method that Jim suggested. I have the "H" key programmed for autodefine. (I've also got another two keys programmed to simply turn hyperdraw on and off for the selected region(s)). Autodefine is very cool. If there are, say, 4 different controllers in the track, hitting H the first time will show you the lowest-numbered controller; hit it again and it shows you the next higher number controller, and so on. The controller number is displayed in the lower LH area of the hyperdraw display for each region.
If a track contains controller information for multiple channels, you'll see two numeric values in the lower LH corner -- the controller number and MIDI channel for that controller, separated by a comma.

• I need help updating the graphic drivers for my laptop.

Recently purchasd a new game and I am having some issues with the graphics. Every post I have read suggests it is an issue between HP and amd. I keep trying and seem to be going backwards. I would love to actually talk to someone from hp but they haven their number very well. I have tried every combination between hp and amd and I am obviously missing something. I dont have much hair left to pull out.

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

• Need Help Identifying Two HP ZD7000 Parts

Hi,
The DC power jack on my Pavilion ZD7000 went bad, a common problem. I had never taken a laptop computer apart before but decided I would give it a try and replace the jack myself. If I failed in my effort, no great loss since the computer is an old one.
I carefully followed steps from several online sources and noted and catalogued every screw, etc.
However, I didn't account for the fact that loose parts would fall from the computer when I turned it over. The two parts in question are in the image below. I have not been able to determine where they go. If you have any thoughts or insights, please let me know. I have no idea how critical they are to the computer's operation.
Thanks,
Bill

I looked at the service manual, too. There is nothing depicted which looks anything like these two things. HP Service Manuals have improved a lot since this thing was created; very sketchy and bare bones. I am going to go out on a limb and say the flat shiny thing is a bracket for something like the optical drive, or it maybe holds the video cable in place after it has been plugged into the motherboard. The other thing looks like a button to eject something like from the card reader. I would say neither is critical to the functioning of the system, but the absence of the spring-loaded thing will likely mean if you put a card or whatever in the slot it may be hard to get it out.

• Need Help Reattaching internal Printer Parts

I recently purchased a used LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw unit from Amazon Warehouse. After setting it up, I printed a page and it came out very crooked. I opened the printer up and found a couple of parts floating around in the bottom. After removing them, everything seems to work great, but I'm concerned about the parts. They seem to be opposite arms. One has an additional piece attached that appears to be missing from the other. The arms have part number RC2-9515 and RC2-9516, respectively, and Google identifies them as levers for the fuser. The part number on the additional piece is: RC2-9531, which Google says is a pressure release link.  I prefer to not have to return the printer, so I'd like to reattach the parts, if necessary, and am looking for someone to give me a little direction. Thanks in advance.

Hello , I've looked into this further for you, and I'm not seeing these parts as being customer replaceable - meaning I can't find any information or documentation on how to re-attach them.  Since you said it appears to be working, if you look inside the printer do you see simular parts still attached inside?Could these just be extra parts that don't actually belong? I really recommend Contacting HP Support for further assistance. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance.  I wish I had more information for you.  Thanks,
