Need Help! In After Effects

Hi I know this may sound really basic but i'm new to Adobe After effectts. The problem that I'm having is that, I have just created a "cinematic look" for one of my shots. However once I put my next shot in, The effects that i changed are now gone. I don't know if there is an easy way to get this same look to my shot, but if there is i would be quite happy to hear that there is an easier way than just creating the effect ever new shot. Need help with after effects render engine setup

I use AE CS6 on a mac computer running Mountain Lion. I also own a PC running Windows 7, and I am wanting to use it to assist with network rendering. How do I install the after effects render engine on a PC, when all that I own is the Mac version of the software?
Any help would be appreciated

Did you purchase a perpetual license for the software, or do you have a Creative Cloud Membership subscription?
If the former, you need to purchase an additional license to get the Windows version. If the latter, you can just download the Windows version as part of your subscription.

Need Help With After Effects. Please read.

So I'm using after effects cs6. The problem I have with it is that the final video after exporting stucks in between and never runs smoothly. I exported my almost 7 minutes video as a quicktime file that is (.mov). SO whenever I play the video in quicktime or any other player, it stucks, sometimes i pause it but it pauses after 10 seconds i click the pause button. sometimes the voice is ahead of sound and vice-versa. It doesnt stuck at the same point everytime. I need my video to run smoothly. Can someone please help.

Need help installing After Effects Trial

I installed a Trail for Adobe After effects but i cant get it to install the whole program, for some odd reason its only installing the 3rd Party shared components and it says An error has occurred during installation. Some one please tell me how to fix this.

My computer is brand new, im runing Vista 32 bit 2Gb 500 GB hard drive and all the other trials were working fine untill i uninstalled After effects and then Premier pro cs3 then after that when i tried reinstalling it, they didn't work none of them. Please this is crazy, should i do a recovery of my PC and then try installing them? i really dont want to do a recovery because i have alot of pictures on my PC. im a professonal photographer and also i work in video and i really dont want to loose all my saved files and pictures and other media that i have on my PC please if there is an alternative that would be much apreciated

Need help installing After Effects

I go to Download it from the 'My Orders' list and then try to download it through Adobe Cloud.
Once Adobe Cloud was installed, I tried to find After Effects in the Apps list but it's not there.
Do I have to install other apps in order to get it or did I miss a step?

The application doesn't appear if your computer doesn't meet the system requirements.

Need urgent help on After Effects CS4

Hi,
I am completely NEW to after effects.
I have a project with 20 frames. I have two audio clips which have been editted to fit all the 20 frames.
Q1. When i add the audio clips to frame 1, frame 2, so on... the clips begins from the very start (0.00 seconds) for each frame. However, I want it to play from Frame 1 (0.00 secs) to Frame 20 (1min 45 secs) in one go. What should I do?
Q2. How can I preview the whole movie from frame 1 to frame 20 with the audio, in one go?
Q3. How do convert this project into a proper movie? what am I suppose to do!? !?!
I am really messed with all this!
Please help me asap with this. I've got to finish this today urgently!!!!!!

Help need to understand After Effects Rendering

I have just built my first editing pc.
I want to do Editing in Premiere and AE.
I understand it is best to share the load over 3 drives, and so i have
C: SSD - OS/programs
H: 1 TB HDD - media
F: 500GB EXternal Hard drive - renders
in premiere pro i have made it so i read of the media of H: and render to F:
BUT in after effects i am having trouble understand all this disk cache and confirmed media cache business.
I want to have my renders/previews go onto F: as i dont want my SSD to full up!
what i want to know is where do i allocate the disk cache, confirmed media cache, and the data base stuff.
or does after effects delete renders itsself afterwards.
if anyone could help or give me a simple answer as to what these disk cache and media cache things are in AE that would be amazing
Also when i hit space bar to play in AE it goes green for a few seconds then it leaves the bar behind blue!

So tell me if im now right.
When working in AE, I should:
1.Import media that is on its own drive (in this case H:)
2. Have my disk cache set on the SSD (C:) and maybe put it at a limit of 5-10 gb if I dont want it to take up much room.
3. Not worry about ram previews taking up space as they only occupy my 8gb of ram temporarily, whilst im working in AE.
4. Export/Render to My other drive (F:) when done.
Has my understanding improved?... or am I still being a wally.

Need help with gunshot effect in FCP

New to FCP and am trying to add a gunshot effect to a short film. Doesn't have to look top notch...just looking for something simple.
I added a muzzle blast for the shooter from detonationfilms.com, which worked great. When i overlayed the muzzle blast, the background was black. I was able to fix this by using Modify>Composite>Screen.
Now I'm trying to add the bullet hitting the victim, but all the shots from detonationfilms.com have white backgrounds. For some reason, when I go to Modify>Composite>Screen it doesn't work for white. What I'm I missing? Are there any other websites that have bullet hits with a black background? As I said, I'm not too picky.
Lastly, I have about a 40 frame shot of the victim collapsing to the ground after being shot. He's wearing a white T-Shirt, which I'd like to stain with blood. Can someone tell me what program would work best for this? I basically think I need to go frame by frame and "paint" the blood on him, but not sure what program is best for this (and simple).

Screen drops out black pixels. It's not really the best way to get luma key effects but it's quick and easy for high contrast effects footage that is delivered on superblack. Try a luma keyer to key out the white.

Should have been done as a practical effect while shooting. A simple squib and blood packet would have been FAR easier to deal with than rotoscoping and hand painting. You need After Effects or, if you have Motion, crack the manual and get set for some long sessions. There is nothing simple about handpainting on a moving object.

Help my after effects keeps crashing

my affter effects cs6 keeps crashing when i add effects or after a period of around 10 mins... ive used this for about a year and its never done this! i have pleanty of RAM and SPACE for after effects and allowed it 400 GB for cach and 4 gb of RAM.. i cleared cach and it still popping up when i open after effects saying : cach almost full not enough disk space!

Help with After Effects CS6 error please?

I'm working on a kinetic typography project in CS6 as my final assignment for my Motion Graphics class. It's nothing too complex, just some text to some song lyrics and I decided I wanted to do some camera movements around the text but when I checked the 3D box next to the layers, I get an error message,
88:3, "error: TDL:outline contains triangles that are too small to be rendered. Check for very thin triangles in original artwork."
I literally only have one background picture and then quite a few text layers but that's it.
Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

I'm still kind of new to After Effects and working with vector so I apologize if I'm not too savvy with all of this. Here's a screenshot of my composition if that's of any help.
*Edit: Oh and my text doesn't need any extrusions, the only 3D transformations I've made to the text layers is "pulling" their positions a little closer on the Z axis.

What effect after 10 seconds? There's a scale/jitter effect then an over exposure effect with fades to black and there's a blue light streak? You mentioned brush strokes so I think it's the light streak.
For that you can use Beam, or small solids stacked on top of each other with various blurs and blend modes set to Add or Screen and a lens flair, or a half dozen different particle effects, or . . .
Catch a still frame and show us what you're trying to achieve and we can help more.

Alright, I decided to go with an MSI GTX 980 Gaming w\ 4GB DDR5 for the video card since it has a good amount or VRAM, CUDA cores, and is ranked as one of the best graphics cards available right now. I'm sure by the time I can afford to build the rig they'll be even more reasonable. Right now they're actually under $700 which imho is pretty damn reasonable already for the performance.
You mentioned that HDD RAIDs need larger sets to see fast speeds. Should I use SSDs instead? To me it doesn't matter either way. I would rather pay the higher price for SSDs if I'm going to get a big performance bump. You also mention RAID 6. Would you recommend that over RAID 10? Like I mentioned in my original post, I am very new to using raid and want to use the best array for my needs. I am going to be working with pretty large video files, especially once I start editing 4K video, and did read that HDDs work better for some odd reason than SSDs with large (non-random?) reads (and possibly writes).
Hypothetically what do you think about this drive setup?
4 x Intel 730's using RAID 10 (internal hot swapable) for my OS/Apps which would give me a good performance bump from using a striped array but also the redundancy I need in case a drive fails.
2 x 4TB HDDs using RAID 0 to store completed projects. I'll also be backing up to an external drive, blu-rays, or a cloud server.
1 x 256GB SSD to use as a scratch disk for any apps that need it, primarily for Premiere & After Effects
Can you think of any reason to add another drive in there somewhere I'm not thinking of, or change that setup at all? Thanks for your input btw.
