Need Help in Overcoming Extremely annoying problem

Before explaining my problem, here's my complete system specs:
AMD Athlon64 2800+
MSI K8N NEO Platinum (NForce3 250Gb)
1 GB DDR400 Kingston Value RAM (2x512)
MSI RX9800 PRO-TD128
17” LG Flatron
80 GB SATA (Seagate)
16X LG DVD-ROM
Logitech MX-510
A4Tech Multimedia Keyboard
HEre's what I'm experiencing:
1. The system never reboots when i'm working, gaming or surfing the internet.
2. System works flawlessly as long as it is on.
3. Overclocks just fine without any hiccups upto 2.1 ghz...
The problems however are:
1. Windows becoming corrupted after every 3 days .. Without a single warning whatsoever. This happens when i cold boot the system.
2. My SATA drive's DMA access mode is automatically reset to "PIO mode" instead of "Serial ATA DMA" mode. The explanation given below is that due to transfer errors, the mode was set lower to insure system stability. However, when i reset it to DMA mode, and reboot the system. The system doesn't boot, and when i reset the system manually, voila, windows is corrupted again
3. I'm using the latest nforce3 drivers that were included on the CD, they match the version that is available on nvidia's FTP. I bought this system a month ago.
Can you please suggest what might be the problem behind all this. As, i've lost my saved games for games like Battle for middle earth, NFS:U2, etc.. countless times without any warning. Why does windows corrupt so sudden and why when cold booting the system ??

Cool 'n' Quiet could be left enabled, only when you change (lower) the multiplier this could be the source of problems. Again only if you lower the multi, so you can leave it Enabled with out incidents. Disabling it shouldn't be a problem either.
With a frequency of 225 mhz, what HTT multiplier are you using? I think the socket 754 needs to run at around 800 mhz (200x4)... but I am not sure.
Don't trust SuperPi to see if RAM runs with out errors. This benchmark will give you an error but sometimes it could complete the 1M calculations several times when the RAM is unstable... 4M would be a better test, and that isn't conclusive either. Prime95 Blend Test would be even harder on RAM and find any errors within the first 15 minutes of the test, also Memtest86 tests #5 and #6 would be even a better way to see if everything is perfect with the memory.
Power Supplies failing isn't a thing about turning on the system or not. If the PSU isn't strong enough for the system in question it could make it unstable. If system freeze sometimes during high CPU load aplications of games, or if it restarts randomly using these aplications and games... that could be also from the weak power supply as well. In my personal opinion 15 amperes is too weak to power up an AMD64 system, maybe yours is a socket 754 which requires less than the 24 amperes the socket 939 is recomended. I just installed a new 520w OCZ PSU to a socket 478 PIV system which froze everytime a DVD was inserted... and it had a Thermaltake 480w PSU with only 18A in the 12v rail.
DRAM timings could be better set to Kingston's values... but I guess this drops to the "if its not broken, don't change it" cathegory.

Are you scanning as jpeg, tiff or some other format?
Are you using continuous numbering for files names as by definition scanned files have no exif data.

Hey everyone, after many hours i decided to ask for your help.
Here's the problem.
I have two txt. files one of them has :
1st txt:

and the 2nd txt file has:
40 // number of flights for exemple
C 0025 Barcelona California // type, number, Start point , destiny

So what im trying to do is if the type is "C" (Comercial) catch the coordenates from the start point and the arrived point...to do that i think we must compare (don't know how) those strings with the other strings from the 1st txt file, because the coordenates are inside the first txt. file. I need to catch the coordenates from the start point and from the destiny point, so we can't give a line , beacause it must be a dynamic way , this operation must result to any txt. file (2nd one) it can has 5 flights or 50 flights, just has to
return all the coordenates ( x1 y1 ) and (x2 y2) .
Any sugestion?
What i already did, was to insert all the names into a String [ ] , and then inserted into a LinckedList , so its like: e.g String word [ ] :
word[0] has all the names word [1] has all the xx's , word[2] the yy's this for the 1st txt file.
For the 2nd , i did the same thing but this one has four columns.
another String [ ] ...words [0] has all the types , words[ 2] the start points and words [3] the destiny point.

NEED HELP...FORMATING SIZE PROBLEM

I've been succesfully building and formating projects that only lasted 30 minutes.
I'm having some problems with my latest project (1 hour and 20 minutes)...
I did compress with "90 minutes best quality".
and when I import in dvdsp, the file size is 6 GB.
Now it won't format into a blank dvd-R.
I am kinda new at this and need to put it on a dvd for a client.
Could somebody tell me what should I do ?
Should I compress again or can I still burn it with another form of blank dvd?

Help with Quicktime. (very annoying problem)

I am a newbie to this forum. I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer I was looking for so here is my question. When I try to open either iTunes or the Quicktime player I get a error message that reads "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." (it is one of those 'send error report' messages. Anyone who has windows has probably seen them before) Since it is happening with both Quicktime player and iTunes I can only assume that this is a problem with Quicktime. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times. Every time I try to uninstall Quicktime it tells me "a fatal error has occurred during installation" and never uninstalls. The only way I can uninstall is to just remove all the program files. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I need help.

P.S. Also when I try to just uninstall Quicktime buy hitting the "uninstall quicktime message" it starts to uninstall and then says "The installer encountered errors before the requested operations for quicktime could be completed."

if you are having issues uninstalling quicktime on XP, follow this guide:
Open the Program Files folder.
Right-click the QuickTime folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Note: This folder may have already been deleted if QuickTime was successfully removed in steps 1-7.
Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin.
Restart your computer.

You may also want to use a registry cleaner to get rid of any quicktime references (or Use Regedit (ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING))

IDVD virgin needs help! Widescreen ration aspect problems

I created QT movies from FCPx all as widescreen, when I play the QT movies they are widescreen but then when I create a iDVD, the ration changes to standard (even though it is set in iDVD to wide). When I am iDVD and look at the preview there is gray around the edges and it looks standard ration. What have I done wrong?? I found this advice:

When you drag the iDVD window to make it larger, the menu in the iDVD window always maintains the correct aspect ratio of your project (4:3 for standard video and 16:9 for widescreen). The extra space around your menu appears as a gray border.
To return the iDVD window to normal size:
Choose Window > Actual Size.
You can also drag the window, reducing its size until the gray borders disappear.
But I cannot work out how to do this, I have clicked on Actual size etc but nothing seems to change.... I'm so crap at this, I really need help! thanks!

With the QT files I made straight from FCPx it says, 195.8mb 720 x 576. Then I used 'prism' and converted all the chapters and now they say 11.3mb 1024 x 576. I put them back into iDVD and it solved the widescreen problem. When I view the converted files in iDVD now they are widescreen and work. HOWEVER, I seem to have a new problem! Now there are 2 things that happen.
1. Everything is widescreen but when I click on the chapters to view the video's, it automatically stops being full screen and goes down to a smaller screen and then you need to click 'full screen' for it to go back, this only happens on a few of them.
2. Some parts of the DVD don't work, the footage goes all funny like ghosts and it jumps around and doesn't play nicely, then all of a sudden it works for a bit, then back to not working.
I tried using 2 different themes and the same thing happened. Any thoughts?

Extremely annoying problem with user folder name in windows 8.1

Here is the thing:
Friend of mine bought the laptop (very strong and expensive asus - republic of gamers) with installed windows 8.1 on it, but after a few days only I bought that computer from him because he didn't need it and he didn't use it at all!
But, his name stayed in the windows. I changed all user accounts names and everything which was possible to be changed, but when i go to C/users his name is still there on folder!
I can say it is very annoying because that laptop cost almost 3.000 USD and I still need to look at someone else's name in my user folder!
I tried to change "ProfileImagePath" in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ .... but after that windows logged in as a temporary profile and I spend another hour to figure out
how to reverse the thing!
How is possible that some so basic and simple things can't be changed at all in newest windows??? Only because some name was entered first it's not possible to be changed ever again???? Seriously?

Ok, i came back to edit this post because i have a feeling that maybe you don't understand the question and giving me this link because maybe you simply don't know that when you go to:
Control panel/user accounts/change your account name... and change the name, and after that, when you go to C:/users, the folder with the user name still have an old user name. Which means that any changes in control panel or anywhere else doesn't make any
changes on C:/users/ folder itself!!!!!
In previous windows versions was possible to change it by editing "ProfileImagePath" in:

But when I try to do that in Windows 8.1, when I reboot computer it logs in with some temporary account, so i need to reverse everything to be able to use computer with the real account!

Need help configuring Aiport Extreme A1034 to optimize network signal.

Greetings, I am a very loyal mac user from back in the days of the Quadra 650. I have torn apart and fixed most macs for the last 13, but I must say configuring this wireless network has got me stumped. Any help would be gladly appreciated.
I went from a ibook 1 Ghz with a plastic case to a aluminum powerbook g4 1.67 to find out that the metal case greatly diminished the computers ability to receive a wifi signal from my Rv park. I then decided to buy an Airport Extreme A1034 that has the antenna port and then bought a Hawking 15db directional antenna. My intention was to have the Airport Base station receive the 802.11b wifi signal sent out from the office of the RV park through the Hawking antenna, and then have the base station take that signal it received and send that high speed wifi signal to the airport card in my Powerbook G4. Sounds simple enough, I thought it would be. I have found that using Airport set up assistant doesn't give me that option. I then proceeded to get into the workings of the Airport Admin Utility. I have found myself ready to pull my hair out trying to configure the 6 different tabs being, Airport , Internet, Network, Port Mapping, Access control, and WDS.
I do know that everything in the Airport tab is correct. The big problem I think is between the Internet, Network and WDS tabs. It seems that the Airport base station was basically made to have a high speed connection plugged into it via ethernet and then the base station broadcasts to host computers such as my PowerBook G4. My initial thought was to connect via Airport WDS in the internet tab and then set my powerbook to connect directly to the base station through the airport card. I read up on this via Apples Designing Airport networks that came on the Airport installation CD. It talked in detail about setting up the WDS tab to do something like I want but it still involves a hard wired ethernet connection at the start of it. I have also played around extensively with the Network control panel and the sharing control panel , I thought about turning the airport card inside my powerbook into a software or virtual base station and then try some sort of WDS relay. Through all this I had the Airport extreme go none responsive on me and not letting me log in. That's another story of 10 hours of **** fixing it, but i did. Even the reset button stopped working for a while. As of now I can access everything everywhere. I also have ALL the IP addresses Hardware(MAC) address, subnet masks and router addresses for every location in this proposed wireless chain. I just need someone to end this stressful nightmare. They say you learn through trial and error, that is how I learned most of my computer skills over the decades, that and Applecare certified tech training many years ago, But it doesn't help anyone if I stick a large knife through my base station. Sorry, but no you cannot use the AirPort Extreme card in a WDS as either a main, relay or remote base station. It does not support this function.

I need help with an Apple ID problem...

I own a Macbook and an iPod touch, I have downloaded numerous apps for the iPod over the years. 18 months ago my boyfriend got an iPhone 3GS and created an Apple ID but it would not let him download apps due to some kind of issue registering his bank card. At the time I tried to sort it out and told him to get in touch with Apple support but he was impatient and wanted to start getting apps right away so I caved in and let him use my Apple ID. The next day I realised this was a stupid thing to do when all his apps started appearing in my iTunes. However I didn't see it as too much of a problem at the time...
Tomorrow I am going to pick up my shiny new iPhone 5 (my first iPhone ) and I am worried about plugging it into my Mac and having all these apps that I really don't want around in my iTunes. I am imagining an absolute pain in the bum trying to sort all these apps out and syncing them to the right devices? I would absolutely love to just shift all his apps over to his Apple ID, he has loads of stuff that he needs to keep now. He does not have a computer himself, but there is no real need to plug his iPhone into my macbook ever again. After having a quick read around the forums, there seems to be no simple answer to this problem. If anyone could help with this I would be extremely grateful!

You can't. All apps are forever tied to the ID used to originally obtain them. In your case, that would be your ID. He really needs to get his own ID, delete these apps, then purchase them using his ID.
For you, just delete what you don't want from your iTunes library.

Need help with notify() / wait() synchronization problem.

I am trying to overcome a race condition that seems to be coming from the use of the swing ui file chooser in my code. I tried to solve this problem using wait/notify but I ended up in an infinite loop so and was wondering if anyone could help me out. Here are some code snipets:

The method causes in infinite loop, I believe this is happening because the notify is being called before the dialog window has completed then when the wait is set up there is no notify to come. My problem is the wizard is used in other circumstances where it will not look for this. Would it be okay to add the notify() to the wizard's functionality even though sometimes there will be no monitor waiting for it? Can anyone give me any advice on this? Thanks.

When the zip occurs some of the files do not show up in the newly created .zip. But if I uncomment the dialog call then the .zip contains everything I expect it to.

Diagnostics
I notice when I call DialogUtils.showinfoDialog then the zip is formed properly. I think this is because the showinfoDialog method makes the user click on a button before returning. So my concern is that I am generating a race condition by <doing something... I have no idea what...>.
Okay, so now we have that out of the way, You also say "Also, the reason I think this is an infinite loop is because when I added the synchronized calls and it gets to this part of the program it hangs and must be force quit." For there to be an infinite loop, there first has to be a loop, then there has to be a condition for ending the loop that never is reached. I still see no loop in your code, so it is impossible to have an infinte loop in any code that you have shown (there may be an infinite loop someplace else that you aren't showing). That said, your computer can hang for any number of other reasons, including any un-interrupted blocking operation (reading from a Stream, waiting on a BlockingQueue, calling wait() without notify()), or a deadlock situation. The problem with saying that you have an infinite loop is that the first thing to do to fix that is to look at the loop. If you don't know what is causing a hang, just say 'The program is hanging here.' That way we can look at different reasons for hangs, rather than getting caught up in a red herring of an infinite loop.
Okay, down to the problem:
1) Why are you including any synchronization? Why do you think you need it? How many Threads do you create? And where?
2) We can't help you with the code you provided. It tells us nothing about what is going on. What is DialogUtils? FileUtils? RistrettoWizard? No clue. Don't know what any of those methods do. What context is this method called in? Why the synchronization?
What you need to do is generate a short, working sample that shows the problem. Read [this site for examples.|http://sscce.org/] Make it simple, and complete. If I can't copy the code and run it to see your problem then I can't help diagnose it.

Need help with Airport Extreme and my new Verizon Fios Internet connection

I just got the Fios install, and the tech and I couldn't figure out how to use my Airport Extreme as my wireless connection. I'm not real tech savvy (and I've only been a Mac guy for about 18 months). My current arrangement is the basic Verizon setup with the Airport out of the loop. How can I go about moving from here back to using my Airport Extreme? I need the range! Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you tried resetting and reconfiguring the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS)?
Are you using OS 10.5 or OS 10.4 or earlier?
Are you using the round 802.11b/g AEBS or the square 802.11b/g/n AEBS?
If you are using OS10.5 OR the square 802.11b/g/n AEBS you should refer to "Designing AirPort Networks Using AirPort Utility" (direct PDF link).
Otherwise you should refer to "Designing AirPort Extreme Networks" (direct PDF link).
