I have to do some pattern matching, I have a string array wherein I need to check whether each element matches a pattern... The pattern goes like this...
1. Can start with any number of characters in front and then the word "I "
2. Should contain any of the following words. . .
(banana, apple, mango, pineapple)
3. and then it can contain other characters in the end.
So for example, valid elements in the string arrays can be. . .

I hate bananasbadly
yesI like mango
The actual problem that I am having is something different but very similar. Other than looking for the words (apple, banana, mango, etc.) it is also satisfying for some other words which is kind of weird.

Square brackets are used to define a character class - whatever's inside the brackets is treated as a set of individual characters, and it matches one of those characters at a time. Also, most special characters (like the parens the pipe, in this case) lose their meanings within a character class, and are just matched literally. Need help using Regex to parse street addresses

Let me start off by stating three things:
I suck at regex,
I've googled this and didn't come up with an answer, and
I'm on ColdFusion 10
I have a form with an autocomplete input that allows a user to enter street addresses (either in full like "123 Main St, Mayberry" or in part like "123 Main St" or "Main St" or "Main St, Mayberry". I need to tell if the user has provided a street number or not at the beginning of the value they enter into the input. I'm trying to test the input value with this code:

q is the input value being passed into my code from the autocomplete function.
x should be either 0 (if the input value doesn't start with a number) or a positive integer (if the input value does start with a number).
Basically, I just need to know if the input value starts with one to five digits.
I suppose I could just do something like:

Am I better off using a regex, and if so, what am I doing wrong with the one I've tried?

I had tried it without the parantheses before, and had added them when trying to troubleshoot. I'll remove them from my working code.

I want regular expression for the following script:

I want to print the whole data between <script>to</script>, I write a R.E. like this
<script.*>.*</script>
but it not works , it only prints the first line. It should print whole script. I think i am getting problem with new line characters. Can anyone please tell me what will be the R.E. for this . It should work for any script.

Still trying to solve a problem in Dreamweaver - and think that using Regex is the way to go - but never used it before
I have 2 tables on 4000 pages and want to delete 1 table from each page but they have different links and content etc
The 2 tables on each page are also distinguished by different table widths
If the table I want to delete looks like this example below - what Regex do I use to make the find and replace delete only the table with <table width=100%>

I would like to build the following expression: I want matcher a succession of words (e.g. separated by 1 space), but not containing a specifc word.
Let's me give you an example to be more explicit:
String regex = "([\\S]+ )+"; that exprisses a succession of words, but I want to supplement my regular expression (regex) to indicate that I don't want the word "MANU" for example.

I would like the following results:

but not these one:

Right, I forgot that the matcher would bump along and try "(?!MANU\\b)\\S+" at the second letter of each group. The solution is to use \w instead of \S, and anchor the match at the beginning of the word with \b:import java.util.regex.*;

Need help with Regex replace in DW

I'm converting a document to HTML that came with mixed case image filenames. Our standards say that all filenames must be lowercase, so I used a CF script to convert them, but the src links in the HTML doc tag still shows the uppercase name.
I planned to do something like this:
Find:
<img src="(.+?)" alt="(.+?)" />
Replace:
<img src="$1" alt="$2" />
but I can't seem to get it to lowercase the $1 argument. I've tried \L and all the normal things, but I just get the literal replacement. Any tips?

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.

If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
Paste into the window of another application.
Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.

If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Need help to open audios attached in a PDF file

I just need help. I have ordered a reviewer online that has audios and texts in a pdf file. I was told to download the latest adobe reader on my computer. I have done the same thing on my ipad mini. I am not so technical with regards to these things. Therefore I need help. I can access the audios on my computer but not on my ipad.
I want to listen to audios with scripts or texts on them so i can listen to them when i am on the go. I was also informed that these files should work in any device. How come the audios doesnt work on my ipad.
Please help me on what to do.

You need to buy a PDF reader that supports them. My suggestion is PDF Expert from Readdle ($US 9.99)

I used List Directory on advanced IO , to list all .. the Name is the same for all ... then i used Name_ concateneted with Serial(typed)* .. this command serial* ll list all serials equal the typed , in my case , ll exist only one , cuz its a count this serial .Then i pass the path to the delete , and its done !

i need help, my ipod touch is not recognized by windows like a memory card or a harddisk.
i would like to transfer the files from pc to my ipod touch without useing itunes.
as i see theres some people here that theires ipod touch are recongnzed as a digitl camra, mine is reconzied as nothing, some help plz.

Your Touch is working correctly. Currently, without unsupported third party hacks, the Touch has NO disc mode. It will only show up in iTunes.

Right now, you don't. The SDK is scheduled to be released in Feburary. Then developers will be able to write programs that will be loadable.

Weird error message need help..

SO.. i havent updated my itunes in a while because i keep getting this weird message.. it comes up when im almost done installing the newest/newer versions of itunes. it says
"the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" "click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below"
now when ever i choose a file from the browse box it replies with this message "the file 'xxx' is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes. try to find the installation package iTunes.msi in a folder from which you can install iTunes."

With that one, let's try the following procedure.
First, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. If it goes, good. If it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to iTunes.
Next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any iTunes and/or QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.
Next, we'll manually remove any leftover iTunes or QuickTime program files:
(1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
(2) Open the Program Files folder.
(3) Right-click the iTunes folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
(4) Right-click the QuickTime folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. (Note: This folder may have already been deleted if QuickTime was successfully removed using Add/Remove Programs earlier.)
(5) Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue. (Note: These files may have already been deleted if QuickTime was successfully removed using Add/Remove Programs earlier.)
(6) Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin.
(7) Restart your computer.
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly now?

Hold down the Option key while you boot your Mac. Then, it should show you a selection of devices. Click your flash drive and it will boot from that.
