Need Help In Returning to Mail; Thunderbird Creates Disaster!

What I love about Mail is that I use multiple Macs and can keep all my .Mac and other email on the respective email servers, thus having access to all my email on all my machines wherever I might be. What I don't like about Mail is the weak spam filter.
So, I tried Mozilla's Thunderbird and disasterous results. Whereas Mail keeps all emails on your respective email servers by default, Thunderbird yanks all messages off the servers and puts them on your local computer, by default, and without asking your permission to do so.
Does anyone know how I can import all that Thunderbird mail back to Mail? Mozilla's instructions on how to do so don't work.
Thanks.

My "judgemental and condesending attitude" is a consequence of your judgemental and outrageous attitude towards other people's work. It's you who started this thread with the wrong attitude. My attitude is a direct consequence of that.
is not helpful on a forum like this
Well, that's debatable, especially taking into consideration that how I behave depends entirely on how the participant I'm "talking" with behaves. I can see why my attitude might appear not being helpful to someone with your attitude, though.
and unquestionably out of the ordinary
This I agree with. Other participants might simply have ignored you, as I usually do in cases such as this. It happens, however, that your wrong comments could mislead other users into believing that Thunderbird could cause them some "disaster", which is clearly not the case, so I felt that I had to reply to you somehow.
You are wrong in your comments and you clearly have
no idea what you are talking about.
LOL. Are you sure it's me who doesn't know what is he/she talking about? Would you dare enlightening me?
your further comments are way out of line.
Keeping people like me from making such comments is easy. Just don't make yourself comments which are also way out of line, such as "Thunderbird Creates Disaster!" when what happened in fact is just that you didn't set up the account the way you wanted it to work.
Perhaps you might be better served to keep your "preachy"
opinions to yourself.
If you don't like your way out of line comments to be refuted in a similar way, then it's you who should keep your "preachy" opinions to yourself. It's you who started this thread and chose the tone that should be used in it, remember?

1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.

Look at all the apdiv's you have. Those are absolutely positioned layers. I'm assuming by your post that you are very new to Dreamweaver and HTML and CSS. I would highly recommend not using absolutely positioned layers until you have a better grasp on HTML and CSS.
Looking at your code I would suggest that you consider using one of Dreamweaver's built in, or downloadable templates as a starting point and work from there.

I need help regarding resetting my mail accounts on macbook pro

What kind of accounts do you need to reset? IMAP or POP accounts using one of the many web-based messaging systems? An Exchange server account? Were they working and now just not working any longer?
You're going to have to be a little more specific in what you need...

• Need help on returning input

Hi. I'm making a DateTimePicker (DTP), and I need help on getting a method to return a Date only when the DTP is closed, and I want this to be done in the DTP class itself.
For now, I've used an infinite loop and it seems to work fine without lagging the computer (my computer is above average), but I'm not sure if there's another more efficient way.
I would prefer not to use threads, but if that's the only option then I suppose it's unavoidable.
I'm using:
while(true){
switch(returnState){
case UNINITIALIZED: continue;
case SET: return cal.getTime();
case CANCELED:
default:
return null;
}Screenshots:

You could put any component in a JOptionPane or a JDialog and then easily query the component for results once it has returned.
For example:
QueryComponent.java creates a component that can be placed in a JOptionPane and then queried.
import java.awt.GridLayout;
import javax.swing.JLabel;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
import javax.swing.JComponent;
import javax.swing.JTextField;
* A simple component that has two JTextFields and two
* corresponding "getter" methods to extract information
* out of the JTextFields.
* @author Pete
public class QueryComponent
private JPanel mainPanel = new JPanel();
private JTextField firstNameField = new JTextField(8);
private JTextField lastNameField = new JTextField(8);
public QueryComponent()
mainPanel.setLayout(new GridLayout(2, 2, 5, 5));
mainPanel.add(new JLabel("First Name: "));
mainPanel.add(firstNameField);
mainPanel.add(new JLabel("Last Name: "));
mainPanel.add(lastNameField);
public String getFirstName()
return firstNameField.getText();
public String getLastName()
return lastNameField.getText();
// get the mainPanel to place into a JOptionPane
public JComponent getComponent()
return mainPanel;
}QueryComponentTest.java places the component above into a JOptionPane, shows the pane, and then queries the QueryComponent object for the results.
import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
import java.awt.event.ActionListener;

• Need help deleting graphic junk mail

I need help. I cannot delete graphic junk mail into trash. When I try it says unable to move messages. Messages could not be moved to mailbox trash. And the dial keeps spinning. I'm not getting mail cuz this junk is bogging down my iPad & iPhone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I tried going on my MAC and deleting but they dont show up there?!? I tried rebooting, hard reset, nothin.
Please anyone out there ? I'd be eternally grateful.

If you cannot delete them on the Mac, it will probably be problematic trying to delete them on the iPad as well.
You said you couldn't delete them on the Mac either. If you mean in the Mac mail app, don't delete them there. Delete them on the server in your web browser. Launch Safari - or whatever browser you use on the Mac and then go to your web mail and delete the email there.

• I need help using Premier Pro CS5 to create a short time-lapse video . . .

Hello I am new to Prremier Pro and need help creating a short time-lapse video. I have a Sony CyberShot TSC-70 and a Canon ZR930 to capture images and video but none do time-lapse automatically (I think). I also have Premier Elements 9 and Photoshop CS5 if needed.
I am late completely this project and need help. Suggestions urgently needed.
Thanks,
billy

Nice to know Elements has that function! I don't have elements, and did a one hour into 15 seconds timelapse in Premiere by importing my one hour clip into the timeline, then using the time tool within the effects panel to speed the file up by 1000% (maximum allowable in a timeline, apparently...) Then I nested that sped up sequence within a new sequence, and did it again... I think I had to do it twice, but I got a nice 15 second sunset timelapse out of a one-hour shoot by using that route.

• Need help setting up outlook mail on ipad2

downloaded the outlook app, need help setting it up.

Is it actually called Outlook, or is it called Outlook Mail Pro or Outlook Mail Complete or something like that? Those apps are actually by separate companies (ie, not Microsoft), and I don't personally have experience with them, but here are links to their support sites which should have the information you need (or an email address you can write to):
Outlook Mail Pro: http://support.codebeforedawn.com/customer/portal/topics/38871-outlook-mail-pro
Outlook Mail Complete: http://www.ikonicapps.com/outlook/
hope that helps...

• Need help in returning error condition from web service

Hi,
I need one help regarding webservice. Currently my web service is returning "true" value when it works fine without any issues but it returns "false" when any any error is encountered. So my question is, can we return error instead of string "false". I dont know how to return exact error from webservice. If you any idea then please mail me.
Below is a small code snippet:
System.out.println("User "+ userFullName + usrKey + " end date has been updated to "+usrEndDate +" in IDM DB");
result = true;
catch (tcAPIException e) {
log.error("Error in finding the user" + e.getMessage());
result = false;
} catch (tcUserNotFoundException e) {
log.error("Error in getting user status" + e.getMessage());
result = false;
} catch (tcStaleDataUpdateException e) {
log.error("Error in updating end date of user" + e.getMessage());
result = false;
}catch (Exception e1) {
e1.printStackTrace();
result =false;
return result;
Here i want to return error instead of false. Can we do that?
Thanks,
Kalpana.

instead of storing false store below
use result=e1.getMessage();

• Need help on returning arrays from C++ to Java

Hi all, I hava a C++ application that contains a method that will return a float array to Java. I was able to write the Java Code, the JNI code to call the C++ method and compile them successfully. However on calling the native method from Java, the data in the array returned was not what I want. Please look through my code and see what is wrong with it.
My Java Code:
public native float[] Statistics(int inputKey); // This is the native method
public float[] Stats(int k){ //Java method to call the native method so that I can use it in a Bean for a JSP.
inputKey = k;
float[] p = new float[4];
p = Statistics(inputKey);
return p;
For this native method, an integer is passed from Java to the native side and the native method will use this integer to generate a float array size of 4 and populate it with data and return it back to Java.
My JNI code
extern "C"
JNIEXPORT jfloatArray JNICALL
Java_com_jspsmart_upload_FinalWaterMark_Statistics(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj, jint inputKey)
jfloatArray floatArray = env->NewFloatArray(4); //This creates a new Java floatArray to store the C++ array
CWatermarker2App p; // This is the C++ class to be used
jfloat *stats = p.OnWatermarkStatistics(inputKey) // The C++ method returns a float pointer for an array of size 4
env->SetFloatArrayRegion(floatArray, 0 , 4 , stats); //storing the C++ float array into the Java float Array
return floatArray; // return the Array to Java
In this example, I should have the data returned as [4952.0 2529.0 1706.0 33.6] in the array.
But i am getting junk instead like 2.53E-23, 1.402E-15 etc..
Is this a type conversion mistake?
Please help!

The first thing I notice - probably not the problem - is the line defining p. There is no reason to define this as an array of size 4, because the return from the native method is going to wipe that definition, replacing it with the return value of the native method. Alternatives:
1. float[] p = null.
2. float[] p = Statistics(inputKey);
3. return Statistics(k);

• I need help to recover/relink mail after archive and install

I am helping my friend fix her 15" G4 PowerBook after memory failures caused many crashes. There was no recovering short of a reinstall via "archive and install". All that worked great, but now Mail doesn't recognize the accounts, mailboxes, signatures, etc. that are still located in the user/library/mail folder.
What's up with that? I can't figure out how to relink Mail to this stuff.
Here's more detail:
1) After lots of prior debugging (Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, Apple Hardware Test, single-user commands per Apple tech notes), I did the A&I to 10.3.4 from the original disks.
2) Per Dr. Smoke and The X Lab, I ran the 10.3.9 combo installer right away so that the "older" system would not get confused by the "newer" stuff in the Previous Systems folder.
3) I Launched Mail and it started anew, i.e. didn't recognize accounts and wanted to start over.
Thanks for any help.

The account settings are stored in HOME/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. It looks like that file became corrupt -- maybe its permissions went awry (Disk Utility cannot fix that) and Mail just deleted the file to create a new one.
If your friend doesn't have a backup copy of that file, just set up the accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don't. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in HOME/Library/Mail/ when done.
You'll also have to re-configure most settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it's enabled.

• I need help with my mac mail account password!

okay. so i came home one day after work, and i went to check my mail. there is a squiggly line next to my inbox. i tried to send a message, and a box popped up asking for my account password. now i only use two passwords - one is a word with numbers, and the other is just a word. i entered both, and was told they were incorrect. i'm stumped. am i going to have to start a new account? is there a way to change the password and still get my mail? would someone please help me out? thanks in advance to anyone who does.

Well, then maybe Mail is corrupted, so let's try to fix that. You'll need:
1. your Mac OS X installation disc.
2. a copy of Pacifist.
3. confidence and patience.
First, quit Mail, go to Users/your username/Library/ and copy the Mail folder to your Desktop; then download Pacifist using the link above.
Next, insert your Mac OS X installation disc, open it with Pacifist and browse the contents of the Optional Installs folder until you find the installer package for Mail, then open that Mail package.
Select the top-level of that package in the Pacifist file listing and click on the Extract button in Pacifist and choose your Desktop for the destination. When that is finished, move the newly extracted copy of Mail to your HD/Applications folder. Choose "Replace" when it tells you there's already a newer or older file there with the same name.
Quit Pacifist, open System Preferences and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions; then quit System Preferences, logout and log back in, then try starting Mail and see if that resolves your problem.

• PLEASE help. Return to Quiz is creating problems

Thank you for reading this question.
I am using Captivate 6 with all updates.
I have a pretty lengthy tutorial. I wanted to implement remediation, which means the learner, when at the quiz, will be sent back to the slide with the correct answer, then returned to the quiz question he or she missed.
This should not be a problem. However...
As the learner progresses through the lesson (not the quiz section) the first time and gets to the slide right after "jump to quiz", the slide seems to stop at the beginning, displaying initial content, but stopping. It does not play the audio, and does not present additional information within the slide. If you press the play button at the bottom of the course, it procedes as normal. This is happening for every slide when remediation is requestion.
Details: For each quiz question, I have set "Last Attempt" to jump to slide. The slide provides the correct information located during the course. That is all I have changed for Quiz Properties. Let's say we are jumping back to slide 26.
At Slide 26, I click on my button to continue. For action, I change the option for "on success" to "return to quiz".
Here's the kicker. So when published or viewed, we get to slide 26 without problem. As it procedes to slide 27, this is where it displays initial information at time 0, but does not continue, nor plays audio.
As a test, I have deleted all frames in slide 27 with the exception of audio, or other. No good.
This is happening for ALL "return to quiz" actions.
This should not be rocket science. But I am totally stuck in the water. Would anyone know what I'm doing incorrectly?
Published as executable, viewed in latest FF and IE, as well as viewed within Captivate.
Thank you!

Well I found the answer. I was duplicating slides, and apparently this didn't work well with return to quiz element. Still not sure why, but when I created new slides, the remediation worked perfectly. Go figure. Hope this helps anyone else out who encounters a similar problem.

• Need help from ecperienced sup (mail client) users

Hi there.
I'm just trying to set up an encrypted mailing list on my Raspberry Pi. Therefore, i wanted to use sup. The scenario is the following:
I register an E-mail adress with some Provider (e.g. gmail, doesn't matter, since all emails will be encrypted). I then install sup on my raspberry pi. I configure sup to get new mail every minute or so. Now here's the difficult part:
The E-Mail received will be encrypted, with the gmail adress' public pgp key. I want sup to decrypt the message, then forward it to several persons after reencrypting the mail with their public keys. I know that this is not the intention of sup, but so far, sup is the best suited program i found. If anyone could tell me how to configure sup so it does what i described, or if anyone knew a program or set of programs, that are more suited for this, i would be very grateful if you told me!
Cheers,
Gasp0de
PS: I think i probably need to use those hooks that sup has, i'm still reading about that stuff.
Last edited by Gasp0de (2013-12-20 15:34:46)

Well, sup does work well with pgp. I've seen tutorials for using PGP with it, also including per-recipient rules (but haven't had the time to read them yet). So the main thing i'm asking for is how to create some rule to automatically forward incoming email to a list of recipients (preferably without adding anything like FWD in the subject, and/or email headers in the content). Decrypting/Encrypting incoming/outgoing mail shouldn't be too difficult.
Gasp0de
PS: Before anyone expresses security concerns, i am aware that this scenario is not a practical solution for any hosted services, as the email will at some time be available in cleartext on the server, but as i'm running the Raspberry Pi at home, and all listmembers trust me (as i will also be on the list) this shouldn't be a problem. I'd be interested in additional security concerns with my scenario!
