Need help installing camera raw plug-in for Photoshop CS6

I have a Raw photo that won't open in my Photoshop CS6. The error message and online documentation say the same thing...They recommend going under Help > Updates and following the instructions. Problem is, "Updates" is not actually a choice under the Help menu.
I tried downloading the file directly, but it doesn't launch and installer and I'm not sure what to do with the file.
Any ideas? Where can I go or what can I do to get this plug-in installed?

  • How to install Camera Raw 6.7 for Photoshop CS6 Beta?

I tried; it installed for CS5 only (exactly what I didn't want it to do). I don't see where the app/plugins are stored on the computer, so I haven't tried to manually fix it.
I'd like to have my old version of ACR back for CS5, and to be able to use the new one in CS6 beta.
    Thank you!

    Hello!
You cannot install 6.7 in CS6. It is specific for CS5.
If you are interested by the additional camera support, I suggest that you convert a copy of the files with the DNG converter 6.7 until Camera Raw will be updated.
If your camera manufacturer supported DNG as a native raw format, you would not have this issue. (And I can't imagine what the ACR/Lightroom and other teams would come with with the time they would win thanks to that.)

  • Need help installing Camera Raw plug in

I recently had to reinstall CS5 and now I can no longer convert my raw files to DNGs when I download through Bridge and I can not find the right plug in, all I get is the separate DNG converter. Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks.

Not without knowing what platform you are on, Mac or Win.
Look at that offered download again.  Often, the ACR plug-in are bundled together in a single download,

  • What version of LR supports Lumix DMC LX7 RAW files? do I need to install Camera RAW plug-in?

What version of LR supports Lumix DMC LX7 RAW files? do I need to install Camera RAW plug-in?

The Camera Raw plugin is for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
The functionality provided by Camera Raw is already built in to Lightroom.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 was first supported in Lightroom 4.2 so Lightroom 5 will be fine.

  • Camera raw plug-in for Photoshop CS

Can I download a camera raw plug-in for Photoshop CS (just CS, the really old one) that is compatible with my Rebel T2i? I can find info on which plug-in I need but when I try to find it they are all for newer versions of photoshop.

    Hi,
What operating system are you using photoshop cs on?
Since photoshop cs (photoshop 8) can't be updated past camera raw 2.4, you would need to use the 8.3 dng converter to convert your files to
dng copies that photoshop cs can open.
You also need to ensure you have updated photoshop cs to camera raw 2.4, so you can open dng files in phpotoshop cs.
The following links are for windows versions:
    8.3 dng converter:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5694
    camera raw 2.4
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2701
If your using photoshop cs on mac os x, then the particular dng converter you would need differs, depending on what version of os x your using.

  • My auto updates are not working. I cannot find where to download Camera Raw 8.1 for Photoshop CS6.

My auto updates are not working! I cannot find where to download Camera Raw 8.1 for Photoshop CS6 (Windows 8 64 bit). My Camera Raw is now at 7.1. I had the online Adobe folks tell me to just download all updates manually. That's great, yet I cannot find camera raw 8.1 to download...
    Please help.
    Thanks, Janet

there's a direct download link on this page: https://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/06/camera-raw-8-1-and-dng-converter-8-1-now- available.html

  • Update of Camera Raw 7.2 for Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4.2 - now Bad color

Did the auto update of Camera Raw 7.2 to Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4.2 now the color is green and flat in all images after I save them. I do use a Nikon Camera profile and lens correction. Everything was working fine until the 7.2 update. Now the only way to save correctly is to Save for Web. Where do I match the color/profiles?
    Mig

Color Settings are :     RGB     sRGB IEC61966-2.1
                                       CMYK     U.S.Web Cooated (SWOP) v2
Color Management:     All say preserve embedded profile
I had marked the Profile mismatch boxes to see if I got an error message, but I never did, so I cleared them again.
    Conversion Options:     Engine     Adobe
                                                Intent     Relative Colorimetric
Advanced Control     Only one checked iis Blend Text Colors using Gamma at 1.45
As far as what settings do I open images with.  File > Open and find the file. During the edit process everything looks perfect - only after I save is the file trashed.
Under Preferences: File Handling > File Compatibilty > checked are Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for Supportred files
Everything has been fine for months with PS CS6 & Lightroom 4.2 & Colorchecker software profiles, until the Raw Camera update. And I can still save perfect images as long as I save they with the File > Save for Web.

  • Need help installing camera raw 4.6

hi, i have cs3, vista, just bought a nikon d700 and can't open my pictures in adobe bridge anymore. I shoot in raw...i tried uploading the 4.6 update and am having a VERY difficult time, is anyone available to help me or walk me through steps....i've been struggling for a few hours....thanks!!!

The easiest way to install it should be to go to the Photoshop Help menu, select Updates, and follow the instructions in the dialog boxes. That will download and install it for you.
If you want to try to install it manually, follow these steps:
    1. Exit Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
    2. Open My Computer.
    3. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
    4. Navigate to:
    (Please read directory carefully)
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
    5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
    6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in,
Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 4.
    7. Launch Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Bridge.
NOTE: If generic camera thumbnails appear in Adobe Bridge, follow the these steps:
    1. Check to make sure the plug-in was installed in the correct directory in step 4 above.
    2. Start Bridge.
    3. Choose Tools > Cache > Purge Central Cache.
Important: Purging the Central Cache deletes cached thumbnail information for all folders. It also deletes labels, ratings, and rotation settings for read-only files (for example, files on a CD or locked files) or file formats that don't have XMP support.

  • Need help installing Camera Raw Presets from DVD

I got the NAPP Goodies DVD and I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.  It says to put them into Library-Application Support-Adobe-CameraRaw-Settings...  When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folder in there is CameraProfiles.  I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.  I updated CameraRaw and still no settings folder.  I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.  I am using CS3 specifically Photoshop and Bridge. I do not have Lightroom.
Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that? Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?
    Thanks for your help

The correct location (on Mac–since you don't bother to spec your OS) is:
    User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings
All user level stuff will always be in the User folder. Root level stuff goes in the root level/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw folder.

  • I would like to update my Camera Raw plug in for Photoshop 5 to include the Nikon D810 can someone help me?

I'm on a iMac OS 10.9.2 using ps5 and I'd like to update my Camera Raw plug in to include the Nikon D810.
Anyone have the best way of approaching this,I keep running into problems.

I've got some good news and some bad news.
The bad news is that the D810 didn't get out-of-the-box support until Camera Raw 8.6...which isn't available in your version of Photoshop. To get support, you'll have to upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop.
Otherwise, the good news is that you can download the free DNG Converter, which will allow you to convert those RAW files for use in Adobe apps.

  • Camera RAW plug-in for Photoshop 8 Doesn't Work

I downloaded Camera RAW plug-in 5.6 following the instructions, for use with a Canon Rebel EOS xTi.  The file downloaded and was pasted in the proper folder ( C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats\ ). And when the RAW file still didn't open I downloaded Camera RAW plug-in 6.2 and pasted in the same folder as above. When I couldn't access the plug-in from Photoshop Elements 8.0, I tried Help-Updates. I still can't access or open RAW files. How can I fix this problem?

Make sure you delete all previous versions of the 8bi file from the File Formats folder before you start.
Make sure you use the correct download link:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4810
Extract files from the download folder then drag or copy the new 8bi file into the File Formats folder.
You can confirm successful installation by opening Full Edit and clicking Help >>About Plug-in >>Camera Raw

  • Is there currently a Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop CS for the Nikon d-600 ? tryed downloading version 7.3 but did not work

Is there currently a Camera raw plug in that supports the d-600 ? I tried downloading the 7.3 version and it didn't work !

You have photoshop cs (photoshop 8) circa 2003?
If so, which operating system are you using?
In addition to upgrading to photoshop cs6 or subscribing to the creative cloud, you can probably use the Adobe DNG Converter to convert your nikon D600 nefs to dng copies, which should then open in photoshop cs.
You need to have the 2.4 camera raw plugin for dngs to work in photoshop cs.

  • Need help with Camera Raw Plug In! PLEASE!

When trying to update the Camera Raw 6.7 update, I get error U44M2I218. I cannot open my RAW images to edit. Any ideas?

What method are you using to update? Did you try a manual install?
ON EDIT: Scratch that. Derp. I love rushing around. That was for Camera Raw 8.8. : /
6.7 is here for Windows; here for Mac.

  • Missing Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop CC

Camera Raw is missing from the Applications/PhotoshopCC/Plug-ins folder. When uploading images from Lightroom a message appears to the effect that CR version 8.4 is required. It advises to update through PS help menu which advises that all apps are up to date. Should I uninstall and reinstall Photoshop CC?

Camera Raw is not installed in the Plug-Ins folder, that is just for third party plugins.  If you find Camera Raw in that folder, you've made a mistake somewhere.  Camera Raw is installed in a shared location outside the Photoshop folder.
And have you installed the ACR 8.4 update?

  • How to udate camera raw plug in ifor  photoshop cs6  to ACR 7.3 stuck on 7.0

I have a canon 6D and understand I need Adobe camera Raw 7.3 plug in to view Raw files. I have updated CS6 running on mac osx 10.6.8 but it wont update past ACR 7.0 Anybody got round this to view 6D raw files in CS6 on Mac running  10.6.8?
Many thanks for any advice that you can give
    Best IB

Since you have OSX 10.6.8, you can update as far as 8.3 and why not have the latest? Just to remind you, if you get a camera supported by versions 8.4 and later, you will have to update OSX to 10.7 or later.
That said, here is the download.
