NEED HELP!!!!! IPOD MINI GONE HORRIBLY WRONG!!!!

Hi,
I've had my mini for a couple of months now, and i accidentely pressed a few buttons and now the screen is frozen between the menu screen and the song screen. I've tried everything to get it to work but its not helping!! WHAT DO I DO??!! Plz reply!
XP   Windows XP

Firstly you can try holding the menu and center buttons for approx. 5 seconds and that should reset the ipod (songs will remain on ipod). If this fails to work, download the Ipod updater from this site, plug your ipod into the computer and reset it completely (songs will be wiped but can be put back on after). I hope this helps.

  • Need Help Ipod mini not working

I have a mini and it won't show up on my computer, at least I can't find it anywhere, if anyone one has had this problem please let me know if you remember some simple, and basic steps please write them out, I would greatly appreciate it, Thank You.

Unfortunately, there is no one ‘Silver Bullet’ answer for this issue. Many things can contribute to the problem. Here are various solutions that you can try to correct your problem. One should work.
First, make sure that the iPod is fully charged.
Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
Try closing and re-starting iTunes. There have been cases where iTunes refuses to see an iPod, but after re-starting, it works again.
Also try re-booting the entire computer. Especially if the PC has been operating for a long time &/or many programs have been opened and closed, repeatedly.
Other USB connected peripherals may be the cause as well. Try removing all connected USB items and attaching the iPod. If you have a USB keyboard, it may be worth a try using the adapter to convert it to non-USB. If the iPod connects, continue plugging things back in until you have the problem return. You may have then isolated the issue. Sometimes it could be a printer, camera, Flash Card reader, or other attached device causing a conflict.
If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter: Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management. Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”. Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused. Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” (or something similar).
If that doesn't work, Put Your iPod into Disk Mode then plug it in and you should be able to Restore the iPod
Your PC may have difficulty with the USB2 protocol and the iPod. See this Article for a possible solution: iPod not Recognized Correctly
Also try these hints (and the other suggestions above) from any other USB port you may have on the PC. Sometimes switching USB ports can make all the difference.

  • Library Transfer to New Computer Gone Horribly Wrong

I got a laptop for Christmas, so I tried to use my iPod to transfer my library from the old computer to the new laptop. I followed all the directions, but when I got to the last step that said all my songs and playlists and everything should be in itunes, nothing was there. And there weren't any further directions for what to do if that should happen. So I imported the file that I had transferred and I thought I had solved my problem, but when I double-click to play any of my songs itunes comes up with an error that says it can't locate the song file. It would take forever to go through individually and match up all the folders, not to mention the whole thing is somewhat jumbled and some files are missing completely. I need help figuring out what went wrong, and if I should start over and try the DVD method or something else...i have roughly 1000 songs+video so I don't know how many DVDs that would end up filling.
    Help please!
      Windows XP

I would seriously thing about getting a larger drive for your computer. If you are talking about your Thinkpad, then probably the best thing to do is invest in an external hard drive. You can buy them ready made or put one together for very cheap.
If you then set up your iTunes to work off the external hard drive, you should then be able to get all your tunes off the iPod and into the external drive.

  • Removing imlib2-cvs: "something has gone horribly wrong

    Hi there,
I did a pacman -Syu today, and pacman wanted to replace imlib2-cvs with imlib2. So far, so good. I said "yes" to the removal, but pacman complained that ffmpeg and adesklets require imlib2-cvs.
So I deinstalled those two packages.
Now, if I try to upgrade, I get the following error message:
error: something has gone horribly wrong
If I pacman -R imlib2-cvs, it claims that imlib2-cvs is required by adesklets and ffmpeg--even though those two packages have been removed.
So obviously, something has gone wrong with the pacman "database." Question is: how can I fix it? Delete the entries for adesklets and ffmpeg in /var/lib/pacman? Delete the entry for imlib2-cvs? Do something completely different?
Some feedback would be much welcome. I hope my system is not broken for good ...
    Cheers,
    -Sascha.rb

    pacman -Rd imlib2-cvs
    pacman -S imlib2
... let me install the new imlib2 package, after all. No idea whether it fixed the weird dependency issue I had ("something has gone horribly wrong"), but at least it's working ...

  • Pacman: "something has gone horribly wrong"

    Hi all,
So I started The Big Xorg Upgrade on my laptop. First I removed xorg (to get around the bitstream fonts conflict) and started pacman -Syu. During the package downloads I noticed that I still use some old configuration where the downloads come from ftp.nethat.com , which is very far from me, whereas now I have a much closer mirror ftp.estpak.ee . So I killed pacman and wget, corrected pacman.conf, and rerun pacman -Syu. The downloads were finished nicely, but then I got the following message:
    checking package integrity...done
error: something has gone horribly wrong
I have never seen such an error before, and probably I should not have seen it at all. But still I did:) So can anyone tell me what it is about and under which conditions is it shown? Should I file a bug report?
    Jan
Edit: I cleared the package cache, downloaded all the packages from the same source and I still get the same message. So it was not a problem caused by the interrupted upgrade (and in fact I have done interrupted upgrades in the past with no problems). Any ideas and/or explanations are greatly welcome.

  • Major help need with ipod mini

My ipod mini turns on. The menu appears, however when I click to play music nothing happens, it's frozen at that point. I have reset it, lost my music and tried to download my playlist again and it will not download. Appreciate any advice.

Strange, doing a reset will no erase data in your iPod, but restore does. Suggest that you plug your iPod with your PC and open the iPod updater (u may need to download for the latest version) and do a restore, for further info read the following .. it is really very helpful

  • IPod mini gone? Help.

Hello...the iPod mini appears to be non-functional. We've tried charging the 4GB Mini to two different Mac computers plus a car charger and cannot get anything different than either the Apple logo or a half-battery symbol. (No exclamation point, just a half-charged, unanimated battery symbol.) Computers do not recognize the icon, nor does it appear in the iTunes menu. As a consequence, it cannot be restored, or we would try that. iPod was purchased in April'05. Can the battery be gone? What can we try besides what's mentioned here? Thanks so much for your help and answers.

  • Need help, no idea what's wrong...

Hi, ummm i'm really not expierenced with this computer stuff... all I know is I hadn't used my ipod mini in a while and I updated the software for itunes/quicktime. Now itunes seems to work fine, but everywhere quicktime should run stuff... it just gives the q with a question mark...
I have read the other posts that are a little like mine, but the answers don't make any sense...
I'm not very computer literate, so if anyone can help can you please use terms I would understand... Oh I also tried unistalling quicktime and installing it by itself... that didn't seem to help anything...
    Thanks so much!!!

  • IPod Mini Gone Mad

I don't know what's wrong with my iPod Mini. I don't know if it's the battery or hard drive or what. Anyway, I plug my iPod mini into the computer, and when the Apple logo shows up, it blinks away a middle second later and a line flashes across the screen, as if the Apple logo zipped out.
Anyone know how I can solve this? I have kept the Mini in charge, but nothing has happened yet. I also tried resetting it, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Bumping this thread.
I tried charging the iPod mini for a couple of days, but still no good. It still does the same thing. If things don't look up, I will be selling it online. If anyone can confirm that it's the battery, could they point to me where I can buy a new one? Thank you.

  • PLEASE HELP - iPod mini formatted...

I formatted my ipod mini with windows and now the only thing I get on the screen is a picture of a "folder" with a "hazzard" sign and the url: www.apple.com/support/ipod. A lot of good that's done me.
So now in essence it's acting like a removable HDD and nothing more.
I don't need to update the ipod because the updater tells me i have the latest software (1.4) on the ipod and when i try to restore the ipod i get the message "Firmware update failure. Disk write error"
I did manage to get the ipod up in itunes and uploaded a few songs onto the ipod but as soon as it was disconnected the picture of a "folder" with a "hazzard" sign and the url: www.apple.com/support/ipod came back up on screen and the ipod still won't restore.
I've tried practically everything on the apple ipod support pages and i don't know what else to do...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciacted.

  • Please help - ipod mini frozen - can't reset or restore!

I saw several posts on this topic, and followed the advice given. I've tried to reset the ipod by toggling the hold switch and then holding down the menu and select button at the same time (at least 20x's, and being careful to only hold down the correct buttons). Not having luck with resetting, I tried to do a restore, however when I start to run the ipod updater, and it asks me to connect the ipod, the updater doesn't recognize it.
It's frozen in the pause position at the start of a song and nothing I do helps! Although it's still under warranty I really don't want to have to send it in to apple, so I sure hope someone can help me.

  • Something has gone horribly wrong...

After a days long battle to get my cd's and audiobooks loaded on to my iPod video, all seemed well. On the four hour drive to my girlfriend's parents' house we listened to most of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe." When we got to her parents' house I plugged the iPod into their Mac (my computer is a PC) to recharge it and to use iTunes to try and get all our audiobooks to be in listed under "audiobooks" instead of "songs."
But then something went horribly wrong. When I looked at the contents of my iPod, almost all the tracks had little exclamation points next to them indicating that the file's location was unknown. In fact, some of the tracks that we'd just been listening to moments before were now missing!
This is very bad because we're in the process of leaving the country for several years, my computer is now in storage and the reason we bought the iPod was so that we could have stories for our long drive and music once we got there.
Can I fix this problem without reloading everything?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Sorry for your loss. This is generally how the iPod works. It is part of the way that Apple is trying to make the recording history by not (easily) allowing people to copy their playlists from machine to machine.
If you have iTunes set to automatically manage your playlists for that iPod it will replace the contents of the iPod when you hook it up to another computer. It should have given you a message that says something like "This iPod is managed by another computer. If you proceed you will loose all songs on this iPod."
At least I think that is probably what happened. You aren't completely clear, but is seems that a few songs were left? If that is the case I don't know how it happened. Perhaps you are using different versions of iTunes and that had something to do with it.
It may be possible to get the music back, but I don't know how to do it. Reloading everything is probably your best bet. Depending upon how much stuff you have and the capacity of your iPod you might want to carry a "backup" of all the files as data. Then if you lost them in the playlists part, you could hook to a friends computer, copy all the data off that partition and reload it. Good luck with that.
If you get the music restored you might want to look into getting a charger of some sort. You won't always be able to count on hooking up to somebody else's computer.

  • Need help with min max sql

hi all, forgot i had a user name and password and haven't needed help for quite a bit since i didn't do sql for a while but now i'm back at reporting again...
Here is a sample table as i remember it:
Item     Date     Time     Time Frame     Duration     Duration Frame
    A     20100926     0     5     500     10
    A     20100926     600     10     500     30
    A     20100926     1500     12     100     30
    B     20100926     1800     28     200     40
    B     20100926     2200     6     150     70
    B     20100926     2600     15     600     60
    B     20100926     3600     30     200     70
    Results Set (expected):
    Item     Date     Time     Total Duration
    A     20100926     0     1600:20     --basically max (time+duration) - min(time+duration)
    B     20100926     1800     2000:00
Sorry, but. I didnt put my sql statement as I wasn't planning on posting and left it at work, but, i've been looking on internet and people say to use min/max function and i've attenpted it with it works with just this table (without grouping). But as soon as i group it the values seem to mess up.
Last i remembered it gave me:
    Item     Date     Time     Total Duration
    A     20100926     0     1600:30     --basically max(time+duration) - min(time+duration)
    B     20100926     1800     2000:70
I think it's looking at max duration which is 30&70 and hence it retrurns those values in the result set. Is it because of the max function hence it's returning this value? any help is appreciated. thanks

  • Something's gone horribly wrong between 4 apple devices in my house and I am desperate for some help! I have a MacBook Air, my iPhone and my mums iPhone. And I'm having massive syncing issues! PLEASE HELP!

Ok so long story short I have a mac, a MacBook Pro and two iPhones in the house, one is mine one is my mums.
I only recently bought the MacBook Pro, I turned iCloud on on it and used my iCloud account to sync with my phone and now it has:
    A) deleted all my contacts from my phone and MacBook
    B) replaced them with the contacts from my mums phone
    C) deleted iCal from the main Mac
The problem is none of these are supposed to be linked, mum and I don't share the same apple id or log in details, so I don't know why/how this is happening.
Also I went I onto the main mac to try and see if it was an iCloud issue and there doesn't seem to be iCloud installed on the system at all, it just gives and option for "mobile me" and then asks me to install it/activate it.
Can anyone give me any clues as to why this night be happening? And how I can get my contacts back and keep the two phones and computers completely separate?
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thank you :)

Need to Resume download to complete the ongoing Process.
Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.
