Need help!!! ipod touch acting very wierd!!!

i went on vacation and i tried to listen to my ipod. i tried to turn it on but it wouldnt work. i tried to hold both buttons down and it turned on, but it would turn on, show the apple logo, shut off, and then do the same thing over and over until i reset it again.then it would just turn off. i tried connecting it to my computer when i got home. itunes said it was in recovery mode and i had to restore it. i tried but i got a message saying an unknown error 1603 occured. after that it wouldnt turn on at all. i looked again today and it turned on, but like before only if i held both buttons down to reset it. now it has a lot of random numbers and letters and then it says this at the bottom:

those are the only actual words on the screen. its really wierd. also, i clicked on "about itunes" in the help menu. it said itunes 7.6.2.9. i think thats the version of itunes i have. but my ipod was acting wierd before i plugged it in so i dont think that would make a difference. please help.

As long as you're still covered under warranty, you can still have your iPod serviced.

  • Need help, Ipod Touch being recognized as a camera on Windows XP

        Whenever I go to do something with my ipod and pull up My Computer, my iPod is always shown as a digital camera. I looked all around for solutions to this and found one that I think is the solution that I need.  It asks you to pull up device manager and update the driver to usbaapl (under system 32 or Mobile Device Support) but when i go to click on the file "usbaapl.inf" it says it cannot find a better driver than the one previously installed.  The file i previously mentioned is only a setup information file, which has me concerned as to the underlying problem, but there are no other choices (the .dll and .sys) listed at all.  I have the latest version of iTunes (just reinstalled it yesterday) and my iPod software is up to date. Someone please help me!!!

    Try everthing here. I would start with remiving and reinstalling all the Apple software using the link in the following.

  • I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I upgraded to lion. I tried to buy an audio book and download it to my nano like I have done at least 50 times before. Now the dialog box states that I need an ipod touch for the same function. MacBook Pro 2008 w/ m.trac

    I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I recently upgraded to Lion which is causing lots of issues. Aside from that, I went to the Itunes store to purchase books like I have done at least 100 times before with no problems. Now I can by the book and get it to my computer, however when I tried to download the book to my 3rd generation ipod the dialog box informed me that to download any new audiobook purchases I would need an ipod touch. My ipod nano 3rd generation serves my purposes just fine. Why should I be forced to buy something I do not want just to continue something I have always done seamlessly? I know this is more of a rant than a question but I am sure someone else out there has had this happen to them. Maybe you could share your thoughts on how to work around this issue if possible?

    I forgot to add the last obvious and crucial step I had taken - plugging a different iPod into my system. It was also not recognized. That was the final proof I needed to determine if the problem was device or system. But now what?
    I truly appreciate any help I can get!

  • HELP NEEDED: new ipod touch not working

    i just got an ipod touch for christmas
    i previosly had and ipod nano and so allready had itunes with music and pictures on.
    i plugged the ipod into the usb on the back of my laptop.
    a camera pop up appeared which i closed.
    my ipod touch is fully charged now.
    itunes is not recognising and it is not anywhere on the menu.
    the ipod touch itself will only show what i have been told is a register screen (wire pointing towards itunes logo)
    on "my computer" the ipod is only appearing under scanners and cameras
    please help as i just recieved it

  • HELP, in desperate need of ipod touch assitance

    this thing has brought me nothing but frustration, and too add to it, i lost my old ipod and cant work the touch that i got as a gift for christmas.
    when i plug it in, nothing happens, the ipod itself just beeps twice, and then nothing.. the very first time i plugged in my ipod "new device" pop ups were shown in the botton right corner of my main screen, the ipod does not show in my computer or my itunes ( YES I HAVE THE LATEST VERSION ) ive followed all the "ipod troubleshooting" tips off the website, and still nothing happens, ive been told to register is, and to register, ive been told to "follow on-screen instructions" but NOTHING shows up on the screen, nothing happens when i plug it my ipod, except, it chargers and beeps.. i can acess itunes from my ipod and do everything else, i just can add anything to it, its completely useless to me... SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!

    I was having the same problem with my iPod Touch and my XP machine. I'd plug in my ipod touch and itunes wouldn't recognize it no matter what I did. After having to reset and restore the ipod (which clears the disk) a few times. I found another way to get it going. The problem was with itunes and not the ipod. I opened up the Task Manager and found that while the itunes application was closed it was still running in the processes, if I closed it there then it would recognize the touch again. Once I had it back up, I turned off the "Open iTunes When This iPod Is Connected" option and haven't had a problem since. Also, always be sure to properly eject the touch through iTunes before unplugging it, as that might create the same problem.

    Do other devices connect to the network?
    What encryption are you using?
    How you tried changing the type of encruption? Changing to no encryption?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi. I have an iPod touch and when i connect it to itunes it says it cant reconize the iphone, but its not an iphone, so the ipod icon doesnt show up on the side, therefore i cannot sync my ipod after the purchases i have bought. Any solutions?

    Nothing is seeming to work. Today i plugged it in, and the iPod icon showed up, and then dissappeared, and said i had to restore my ipod, so i did, but it said it could not restore my iPod.
    PS- We found out we had an "intruder" on our computer (or a hacker..?), but we removet it/them. (if thats any help)

  • WiFi on 2G Ipod Touch is very weak

    I had the OLD Ipod Touch (32Gb) and sold it to buy the new 2G Ipod Touch.
    So far so good. Got speakers now and I'm happy.
    But before (with the OLD Touch) I was able to connect to my home wireless network from anywhere in the house.
    Now with the NEW 2G Touch, I have to be in the same room in order to get a signal. Even in the same room... If I'm not too close, the signal will be lost.
    I then Upgraded my router to a Wireless N and put a Range Expander (to be sure I have a strong signal) and even my neighbor will get the signal from his laptop and enjoy a nice internet session, but yet, My new 2G Ipod Touch finds no WiFi.
    Is the new update causing the problem?
    I know the new update messed up the audiobook button and people are waiting for a new update, but could it be that the WiFi antenna is affected as well?

    Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes:
    I really like my 2g but I noticed the same thing: The wifi detection is very poor, even when I know there are access points nearby and all other devices (not just laptops, but other handhelds etc) have no trouble detecting them. I can see some of the networks in WiFinder if the antenna happens to be on but it apparently turns itself off when it can't find any networks.
    I asked a buddy about it and he said he never noticed any problem, but he has a 1g touch. I borrowed his and took a picture with my phone of the two devices side-by-side: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1170172&l=32825&id=508280781. The 1g is on the left, as you can see it detected a lot more networks and had no trouble connecting to the desired network. The 2g is on the right and it sees no networks at all. Occasionally one will pop up in its list with 1 dot for a few seconds.
    What I want to know really is really just "Is this a design defect w/ the iPod Touch 2g (and if so is apple going to fix it w/ a software update or recall them or something)?".
    If it's not a design defect and mine is just a bum unit then I will get mine swapped out for a new one at the apple store, but it they're all like this then that is a waste of my time and effort. Clearly there is a difference, as the picture shows (and it is completely obvious anyway if you have experienced it).

I have even tried to restore to the earlier version of itunes and my computer won't restore! I really need to update my music especially since I have gone and bought 3 albums from istore today!   • Ipod Touch acting strange

    My ipod touch is acting really strange. Several things are happening, but I think they are connected somehow because they all started at the same time. First, when watching movies the screen expands and contracts. It's really distracting. Second, when listening to music or audio books, the display screen (with the song, play/stop/fwd/rwd) reverts back to the playlist screen. If I want to fwd to the next song, I have to hit "now playing" to get back to the screen with the song on it. Third, If I am scrolling down my songs, the screen will automatically shoot back up to the top of the list (the A's, for example)without me even touching it, and before I actually have time to make a selection. Has anyone else had these problems? I can't find any information on it. I have tried cleaning my screen and "restoring" my Ipod....both by hitting the two buttons on the touch and while synced to Itunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    My advice would be to just go into an Apple Store and get it checked out with all these problems. If you don't have a store near you, you should arrange a call with an expert on the Apple website. Go to the support page, go to the bottom and select 'Contact Us'. Then choose what you want to do.
