I have installed Oracle 8i home version on PC. I'm trying to access my database using JDBC, but I'm having problems with JDBC. How do I connect to the local database. Please post me the coding for that.

You dont need multiple statements and resultSets. Just one of each. Between reuse, close the statement and resultSet . Use each resultSet to read the data into a collection and then get your data out of the collection. Dont work directly with the resultSet. Also, instead of
"select name1 from person where personID=1234"
"select name2 from person where personID=1234"
you can combine them into one:
"select name1,name2 from person where personID=1234"
This line will not run because its commented out:

Dw cs5 with existing wordpress site hosted on yahoo need help connecting to existing remote database
I am having trouble establishing a database connection. I can connect with test databases but am having trouble using dreamweaver wtih my existing wordpress website. Am I able to use dreamweaver to edit and live view my changes before uploading the changed files to my live site? Am I able to access my existing wordpress database with dreaweaver? I have imported it to my testing server/database but still seem to be having trouble establishing a connection with it (think maybe my folder hierarchy might be off).

"nwm" is the name of the folder that I have copied all of my site files to and the folder I have dreamweaver pointing to. "wp" is what I have all of the wordpress files in (the ones I copied from my yahoo server - including all my current theme files etc.)

did some google seaches of the error. Tried turning off the firewall, and the advance tab allow mysql incoming (there were 2 one was allow one was not allow. I changed both to allow)
Cant really find anything on yahoo to help me out. Looked in phpmyadmin database named wp: wp_users to get the username and password (which due to previous look for help - I think the password was encrypted cuz it looked like a bunch of mumbo jumbo and am fairly certain I know the correct password).

I spent $50 on live chat last night trying to resolve the issue only to find out at the end that the guy really didn't understand my problem and doesn't have dreamweaver. I have also watched countless videos on Lynda.com and have been thru forum after forum. While this problem is only a couple weeks old since I just got CS5. I am also trying to work my way thru the learning php, mysql, javascript book by o'reily media by robin nixon (as fun as reading a math text book) can't get thru it since I can't relate any of it to my current sites/needs

Have also installed wordpress on my computer (several times thru each tutorial trying to get this right.)
Am I expecting the impossible?If wordpress controls it's own connection why am I unable to use the live view. I have synced the remote site to my local computer so all the files should be just as they are online with the exception of the DB which contains most of the content.
I have done all of those steps. I have even exported the database from inside internet phpmyadmin and imported into computer phpmyadmin. When I hit live view I get one of couple of errors.
1. "One is that the dynamic related files could not be displayed due to an internal server error"
At some point I was able to view some sample files inside dreamweaver. But I would like to be able to view my real site files. I was able to "connect" to the local databases (not the copy of my real one - I think that maybe that was because it is somehow nested inside another db an am going try to reimport to new location). And then I changed the host/username/password trying to deal with the internal server error. Now instead I get the cannot connect to the database Error 2016 or whatever from the origianl post. Also, I am using yahoo if that matters and all I can find about what their server name is: mysql - is that correct?
I have been thru this so many times with so many different tutorials I am losing track of what is what.
2. Can I access my remote database within dreamweaver? I do not want to create dummy files (seems to be a waste of time). And while if it had worked exporting/importing a duplicate on to my computer would have satisfied me for a little while it also seems some what counter productive. Since every post and page is different if I were doing a daily updates etc how would I be able to change the formating or design of them if I can't access the remote files. Would I re- import everytime I want to work on it to get current database?
I am trying to be clear. I listed all the specs I could think as listed in your "how to get help fast post" (yes I read that at least twice too) of all of the steps and possible reasons for my problems. I also thought that the forum was on a seperate site so I didn't think it would count as a duplicate. Good summary. If I can comment ....
1. DBLookup is so restrictive it is not typically useful for looking up ANIs in a customer DB. It is useful for other things to do with routing - say a DNIS lookup to control some aspect of routing. Look up the restrictions on DBLookup if you don't believe me.
2. This may be an expensive proposition. Unless you have in-house experience with something like a CTI all events bridge and the ability to code to the required heartbeat interface, you will find building an app gateway tricky. You also need to be in the Cisco Developer's Program ($25k). I have colleagues write app gateways in C++ and VB.NET, so it's possible - just not trvial. For a huge load, this may be the only suitable method, however.
3. This is the way to go. JNDI is NOT a protocol - it is a naming standard. The protocol that the client (your application running under Tomcat) uses to talk to the server (the database out there) is defined by the library - the JAR file - you hook into it in VXMLServer\lib\endorsed. Through the JNDI specification in Tomcat\conf\server.xml you indicate the host, user name, password and client library that the system needs. Tomcat uses connection pooling to manipulate a pool of connections (threads) giving a more efficient database query system.
You can then add an additional sepcification through context.xml that allows you to use the JNDI spec in your VXML Database Element.
If you like coding in Java, you can write a Custom Action Element to use the JNDI (and therefore connection pooling), making your query and manipulating the result. This is the way I do it because I'm a competent programmer. Most will use the Database Element.
Finally, you could write a Java Custom Action Element that does not use the JNDI at all, but given the server, user, password and database through the settings, opens a connection, runs the query, and closes the connection.

Help building DSN for IPM database.

I need help creating the ODBC Data Source on windows for connection to the IPM database. I have successfully connected to the cmf and rmeng datasources. However, the dbViews_401.pdf does not provide the TCP connection parameters for the IPM/IPSLA database like it does for the the other LMS dbs. Any help you can provide is much appreciated. Looking for DSN name, Server Name, whether or not a Database Name is needed and what the TCP options would be.

AnthonySince the port numbers for cmfDb, etc. didn't change between LMS 3.2 and LMS 4.1, it's probably a good bet the IPM db access port is still 43280 in LMS 4.0.1. Compare and contrast:

We need to connect our SAP PI 7.0 which is running on Windows 2003 Server x64 bit Standard/Enterprise Edition SP1 to a progress database 9.1D version on Unix. The problems are
1. What JDBC driver should I use?
2. We tried to copy progress JDBC driver jar files from the progress database installation directory into my windows machine and tried to run it, it fails to run. It gives the following error

I've been using macromedia for this stuff but apparently, y'all have better stuff than macromedia and I started using the schools. I have a trial on my computer for 30 days and I have been using it and I need to know how to do something. I see that lots of business owners have images that are linked on their site and it is making me mad that everytime I want to make an image, fireworks will not let me do anything on it.
there is something I want to do and it is to make an image that shows their signature, if they are online or not, when level their at, how long they have been playing, and so forth. I want to know if someone can help me give me a tutorial on how to make an image with HTML embeded into the image source so I can make it so that it is live and will work like most businesses do.

The wording of that question doesn't even make sense. HTML is not scripting, it isn't programming. It is markup for text display. The image tag is also not programming; it is the markup for HTML that displays an image that has been created and stored.
For your desired functionality, something could probably be done with PHP and a database, if the person doing the work knew what he or she was doing. In any case, it isn't a Fireworks question. Fireworks creates graphics and it can output some HTML. It is not a programming environment.
If you want to put the your desired functionality into your site yourself, you first need to learn what HTML is and is not, what it can and can't do. Then, you need to move on to learning a programming language (for example PHP, ColdFusion, Perl, C#/.NET), as well as SQL (the language) and some database expertise. You also will need to learn about securing your database-driven site.

Any responses would be great. I know you guys are busy answering the really high end tech questionsAll the current iMac models (both 21.5" and 27" with OS X Mt. Lion 10.8) will run CS4, 5.5 and 6 just fine. They will also run Final Cut Pro X just fine. Ditto for most any application you may want to use.
Below are some notes (specific to your apparent requirements) that may help you with your purchase decision:
Notes on purchasing a 21.5" iMac
All 21.5" iMacs come with 8GB RAM but you cannot add more later. I strongly suggest getting the maximum RAM (16GB) when you order the iMac.
The basic hard drive is a 1TB 5400rpm drive. It will work fine with Adobe CS but you will probably want the added speed of the optional 1TB Fusion drive for better performance. Some people will recommend/argue for one of the optional SSD drives instead, but they are very expensive and still only come in relatively small capacities - I don't recommend the SSD drives. Get the Fusion drive and spend any extra money on a good external hard drive for backup and/or extra storage instead of an SSD.
Notes on purchasing a 27" iMac
All 27" iMacs come with 8GB RAM and you can add more later, up to 32GB
The basic hard drive is a 1TB 7200rpm drive - it will be fine with Adobe CS. There are upgrade options to a 3TB 7200rpm drive or a 1TB or 3TB fusion drive - these will be fine also. There are also SSD drive options, but I do not recommend them. (Same comments as above.)
Notes on all the current iMacs
iMacs no longer come with built-in CD/DVD drives. If you need one, you will need to purchase the Apple Superdrive accessory drive ($79)
All of the iMac graphic processors (GPU's) are compatible with Adobe CS 4, 5.5, 6
It is very difficult to impossible to change or upgrade the hard drive later on, so don't buy low-end thinking you can add a better internal hard drive later.
Be aware that Macs always come with the latest (most recent) version of OS X. And OS X Mavericks (10.9) is due to be released soon (in the next month or two). There is no guarantee that the older Adobe CS 4 or 5.5 versions will run on OS X Mavericks. If you cannot upgrade to CS 6 in the near future, you may want to purchase now rather than after OS X Mavericks is released.
For what it's worth, I'd recommend the 27" iMac if your budget can afford it. You will appreciate the larger screen size and added capabilities over the years you will use the computer. -

Need help with a For loop that uses a Break statement
I need to create a for loop which counts down from 100-50 and divides the number being counted down by a counter. Can anyone help me?

calWindow.setVisible(true);i have to apologize to jittei for the misunderstand i do not know which defination of terms is for which line of code but i know what they do, to solve the problem i have actually made another class in the workspace file called students and now all the bottons work, all i have to do now is properly arrange and put in some additional lines of code and it will be completed. teacher gave me the idea of putting in a new class to help in calling codes from other subclasses in the main program. ah well guess non of you could think of that thanks for the help-ish and hope yall will atleast try to be nice to new people that come in the room. the new coding is:
