Need help joining shared photo stream

I got invited to a shared photo stream from an Apple user on my PC.  I am currently signed into an active iCloud account, but everytime I click on the invitation link, it takes me to a page that gives directions on how to join a shared photo stream, and shows no indication of me actually joining the photo stream.  I've followed every step, and I just want to view the pictures on the photo stream on my PC.

Then the sender will either have to turn on the public website option and resend an invitation to you with the url to view the photos on the web, or they will need to resend the invitation to an address associated with an iCloud ID (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmb700ea29).

    Freezing, or crashing?
ID on the Mac can produce reports that may (or may not) prove helpful in diagnosing the problem. I suspect this is something not directly related to InDesign, and maybe not to any of the Adobe apps directly since you seem to be having a problem in more than one. That often inidcates a problem at the system level.
Nevertheless, it won't hurt to try to gather the reports. You'll find driections for how to generate them, and to post them on Pastebin.com (then put a link to them here) so we can see what's going on at Adobe Forums: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding
Do you happen to run a font manager? If so, which one, and waht version?

  • HT201077 Can't join shared photo stream

I have Windows 7 and I got an e-mail with a link to join a shared photo stream.
I've asked the person if he can just e-mail me the pictures, but he says he doesn't know how, so it looks like I have to deal with all this stuff. So...
I created an apple ID. I installed iCloud Control Panel 2.1. I checked the box in iCloud CP next to Photo Stream (and also both boxes in the Photo Stream options). I signed in to iCloud with my Apple ID. I've closed things and restarted my computer and tried eveything else I can think of, but still when I click on the "Join this Photo Stream" link in the e-mail I just get taken to the page that tells me how to set things up.
So what am I doing wrong? Do I need to have iTunes or some specific photo viewer installed or something too? I don't see anywhere that it says I do, but I can't get it working the way it is.

I was never able to resolve this problem and like abridge1, there was no shared photo streams in Windows Explorer, just My Photo Stream.
I've since uninstalled iCloud Control Panel, so I can't test the theory out, but I wonder if the problem was that the invitiation to join the photo stream was sent before I had created an Apple ID and/or installed iCloud Control Panel. Maybe if the invitation was sent again it would have worked.
Instead I asked the person who made the photo stream to recreate it but this time check the box that gives you a URL so that anyone can access the pictures without any special software. Much easier.

  • Sharing Photo Stream with Windows user

Greetings.  I am trying to help a family member join Shared Photo Streams on their Windows PC so they can see the photos of their grandkids.  We installed iCloud Control Panel 3.1 on his Windows 7 notebook, and I created an iCloud account for him using my MacBook.  We can log into the account on iCloud.com, so we know it has been set up.  We checked the Photos boxes in iCloud Control Panel.
I added him to an existing Shared Photo Stream using iPhoto on my MacBook, and he received the invitation via email, but when he clicks on the link to join, all he gets is a page that says you can only join a Shared Photo Stream using one of a list of Apple devices.  I have read all the troubleshooting posts, and we even tried the hint that suggests killing all the Windows proceeses and restarting, but no joy.  I'm successfully sharing the stream with other Apple users, so the basic sharing is working.
I know we could set up the Photo Streams as public Web pages, but we'd really prefer not to have the baby pictures available to anyone who happens to find the URL.  Some posts I've read seem to indicate that other people have this working, but we just can't figure it out.  Any help from someone who has this working with the software combo above would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Need help getting photos from a shared photo stream in iCloud

I received several invites to several shared photo streams from the same person. Some of them worked fine. Others said "from unknown" and don't show up, even though they are all from the same person. What do I do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you delete photos from a shared photo stream they are removed everywhere, however if the other party has already copied the photo to one of their own albums, you can't delete that.

  • Photo stream is showing up in iphoto recent but not web and I am not able to join the shared photo stream.  all of my software is updated.  can someone tell me how to get photo stream in the web source list? thanks!

Can someone help me get Photo Stream to appear under Web in the iPhoto Source List? I have updated all my software.  iPhoto 11, Mac OS X 10.7.5  All of my preferences are checked.  I am able to see the shared Photo Stream on my iPad, but not my Mac.  The Mac iPhoto photos from the shared photo stream are appearing in the Photo Stream (under Recent), but I thought they would appear as a shared Photo Stream in its own file/album (like on the iPad and iPhone)  - labeled with the shared Photo Stream's title.  Is this supposed to happen on the Mac?  Thanks!

So you are saying for it to do what i want: shared photo stream to appear in web then i need to upgrade.
    Yes
Does that mean i purchase the new software an it's not just an update?
    Yes
Your profile indicates your running 10.7.5.  For shared Photo Streams you need to be running 10.8.2 or later: The following is from  iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
What do I need to use Photo Stream?
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:  iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6.0 or later Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later
So you'll need to upgrade to Mt. Lion.
iPhoto requirements are free updates for iPhoto '11

  • Aperture does not show tick box for shared photo stream as promised on the help screen

I try to configure Aperture for iCloud shared Photo Stream. According to the help screen, I should select Preferences and see a panel with 4 tickboxes. The first three relate to My Photostream and work fine on all my devices. The crucial fourth tick box for sharing with others however does not show however. What else should I set-up to see the 4th tick box ?

    You need:
'A Mac with OS X v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or later or Aperture 3.4 or later'

  • Shared photo stream no longer working.  Please help

I was making shared photo streams on my MacBook Pro, iPhoto 9.5, Mavericks, no problem.  The past week, 90% of the time, it fails.  I have tried dragging photos into iCloud, and now the photos are not even accepted.  Please help.  Tons of photos to save (also save on Carbonite), but want them in iCloud to share with family.

Tons of photos to save (also save on Carbonite), but want them in iCloud to share with family.
Tons of photos -  have you perhaps exceeded one of the the limits? Then you wll have to wait a bit, see:
iCloud: My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing limits

  • Changing permissions on shared photo streams. needs work!

why can't I add other people to view photo-streams that I've created? It seems, I have to make a new photostream of the exact same pictures if I decide I want to add others to a shared photo stream. That's just lousy.

See:  iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams
    Look at the paragraph:
How can I invite more people to a photo stream that I've already shared? How do I uninvite someone or delete a subscriber?
On your device running iOS 6:
From your Home screen, tap Photos.
Tap the Photo Stream tab, then on an iPhone or iPod touch tap the blue arrow next to the name of the shared photo stream. On an iPad, tap the Edit button, then select the shared photo stream.
To add people: Under Subscribers, tap Add People. Enter the email address of the person(s) you wish to invite to your shared photo stream. Tap Add.
To remove people: Under Subscribers, tap the name of the person you'd like to remove, then tap Remove Subscriber.

  • HT201317 I can not view my shared photo stream.  Does not show in source list. Help!

I cant view my shared photo stream from my source list.  This is preventing me from adding or removing photos.  Any ideas?

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.  Then log back in and re-enable, respectively.  That should jump start Photo Stream in iPhoto if both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account..

And it seems you must do this every single time the shared photo stream is updated, ie. photos added/removed.  this is pīss poor.

  • Can't share photos using shared Photo Stream with iCloud Control Panel for Windows

BACKSTORY: My friend took pictures of my family. I want to see the pictures he took. We live about 2.5 hours apart by car. Gas prices are too high for me to just drive down with an external hard drive to get the pictures and I might as well throw my money out the window if I were to ship him a hard drive and he ship it back. SO. I ask him if he would share photos with me and he quickly agreed. He added me to a Photo Stream  he has. ok cool. I recieve the invitation email just fine but this is the error I get when I click on the link:
    ERROR MESSAGE:
    Photo Stream
Follow these steps to join a shared photo stream
1.Make sure you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 6 or a Mac running OS X 10.8.2 withiPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later installed.
    2. Sign in to iCloud on your devices.
    3. Open the invitation email on an updated device and tap the Join this Photo Stream button.
    WHAT I NEED:
How can I view shared photo streams using iCloud Windows control panel 2.1.2.0? How can I work around this error message? I don't own any of these products that apple wants me to own in order to view these photos! I don't have the cash to go out and purchase them. What can I do to get "my" photos? Do I have to be signed into my friends apple id to see the shared photos?
    What I've tried:
I already have the icloud control panel installed and updated to the latest version.
I'm signed into iCloud on the control panel. (no apple id password issues)
    I have photo stream checked.
I have my photo stream checked
I have shared photo stream checked.
I have tried copying and pasting the link into the address bars of Safari for Windows, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer,  and Firefox respectively and pressing enter to load. all present the same error message.
I visited iCloud.com to see if there was anywhere to access the shared photo stream there... No option exisits
Checked my photo stream folder in windows explorer. it's completely empty. I haven't put any of my own photos there so nothings missing per se... I just can't see my friends shared photos.
    MY SET UP:
    Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
    4gb of RAM
    iCloud control panel version 2.1.2.0
I don't own any version of Outlook, (if that matters. I doubt that it matters at all in this case.)
I don't have any iOS Devices or a mac capable of 10.8. My MacBook is stuck at 10.6.8. It's a late mid 2008 just before the aluminum unibody computers came out. If I had only waited another month... sigh. Murphy's Law is alive and well.
any sugestions, especially correct answers, are welcome. please help me figure this out. Thanks in advance.

    Hello desert_dweller5,
It sounds like you art trying to access a Shared Photo Stream, but you do not have one of the devices to enable your Apple ID as an iCloud account.  The following article provides information on how Shared Photo Streams work:
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
The article states that for privately Shared Photo Streams to work, the recipient will not only have to have an Apple ID, but it will have to be an iCloud account:
Friends and family with iCloud accounts can view your photos in the Photos app on any device using iOS 6 or later; on a Mac in iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later; on a Windows PC with Windows Vista or later and iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later installed; or on a second generation or later Apple TV with software version 5.1 or later installed. They can also view your photos on the web if you enable Public Website in the settings or options for your Shared Photo Stream.
Since you do not have an iCloud account and just and Apple ID, your friend can share the photo stream as a public website so that you can view it, as stated in the same article:
Can I share with people who don't have an iCloud account?
Yes. If you enable Public Website in the settings or options for your shared photo stream your photos will be published to a website that anyone can view in an up-to-date web browser.
To be able to change an Apple ID to an iCloud account, you would need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later as stated in the following article:
Creating an iCloud account: Frequently Asked Questions

  • Shared photo streams on/off switch not visible

Just trying to set up Shared Phot Streams on my iPad and my parents.
Got as far as setting one up on ours, and the email has arrived OK on my parents, with a link to Join this Photo Stream.
When I click on the link, I get a prompt to Join this Photo Stream, and a message saying that Shared Photo Streams needs to be switched on.
But in the settings the option to turn on Shared Photo Streams (that I can see on our iPad) is not there, so I can't turn it on.
As far as I know iCloud is all set up, as I've got Messages and FaceTime all working.
Any help with what I might be missing would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

I had tried switching off and on again without any luck.
But logging out of iCloud and back in again did the trick. Weird.
Parents who live in the middle of nowhere suitably impressed.

  • My friend sent me an invite for shared photo stream. I've done all the requirement upgrades but everytime i clink on the invite it sends me to the requirements page. Any ideas?

My friend sent me an invite to join a shared photo stream. When I clink on the invite it opens up a page that tells me the steps to ensure I have all the requirements for photo stream. I've triple checked and I do. But it is the same response every time I clink on the invite. Any ideas as to what I"m doing wrong?

It's a fresh install so give the software a try from the Vista area and let us know what works:
This is the Vista 64 bit page so it would be a better chance of working:

  • Adding Subscribers to Shared Photo streams?

Recently created a photo stream/album that I identified to share with four individuals; however, realized that I needed to add some additional addressees. Unfortunately, I could not figure out exactly HOW to add new "subscribers?"  I went to the Help Center, where their "Manage subscribers to your shared photo streams" information did outline steps; unfortunately, the instructions for adding new subscribers does not appear to be available on/in my system???  I can only see (have the options to change):
    The Album name
    Description
    Deletion of those already selected
Turn on option for Public Website
    ...and no others???
    Can anyone help in this?
    Thanks.

Simply type an additional email address right into the brick with the heading "Shared with" that lists the current subscribers.
