Need Help Launching Network Documents from Forms 6i
Hello,
I am trying to launch a network document from Forms 6i running in Oracle Applications 11.5.10.
I have a column in on a form that shows document locations and I am having the user double click on the column in order to lauch the document. I am using the FND_UTILITIES.OPEN_URL package. This works great for web sites but not for internal network documents.
Examples.
Works Fine:
FND_UTILITIES.OPEN_URL ('HTTP://WWW.ORACLE.COM',_blank)
Does Not Work
FND_UTILITIES.OPEN_URL ('\\netwin\ERP\Documents\Setups.doc',_blank)
Now if I open an Internet Explorer window and paste the not working address into it it does pull up the document so I know the address is valid.

MikeI have found a solution to this I stopped using FND_UTILITIES.OPEN_URL and started using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT.
New working call to this procedure is:
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('file://'||v_url,'_blank');
Where v_url is the location of the network document
e.x. \\netwin\ERP\Documents\Setups.doc
When the window opens it will ask the user if the want to Open Save or Cancel if they press Open the Document is displayed.

What email client? What version of Reader (I can only assume you even have Reader at this point)?
Please wait? I'm sure it says more than that, right?
Have you tried simply saving the PDF (it IS a PDF correct?) to your desktop and opening it from there?
Did you get this form from the IRS or did it come from somewhere else? If the IRS again, what version of Reader?

You have many options.
Network the two Macs
Use a Thunderbolt or FireWire cable and use FireWire Target Disk Mode
Use Setup Assistant when you first set up a new Mac, or Migration Assistant at any time thereafter
Use an inexpensive USB flash drive
Email documents and files to yourself
Use Dropbox or similar service
Those are just a few. If you explain further or reply with the model of your "older" Mac and which OS version it is using, more specific information can be provided.

Hi,
Not quite sure what you're after here, so I might need a bit more info.
You have a presentation in Keynote and want to export this in some format that will allow you to display it on a TV screen. Is this right? Do you want to retain all your interactivity or do you just want to show it as a simple 'kiosk' presentation? What will the presentation on CD be played from and how will it connect to the TV?
Probably the easiest solution is to create a DVD of your presentation. To do this export the presentation from Keynote as a Quicktime Movie by going to File>Export and selecting the Quicktime pane. You'll need to make a few choices about how the slides are advanced and the final quality. Convert the exported movie to a DVD in iDVD or better still Toast, if you have it. You wont need menus or any fancy stuff, just set up the movie to play as soon as the disk is inserted.
To optimise the Movie, keep Keynote animations to a minimum and limit slide transitions to simple dissolves. The resulting Movie should be a fair representation of the original Keynote presentation.

i have a form that have a button on it.when i press that button that changes the status of an employee.i want that when button is pressed ,at that time a mail is generated and sent to network administrator so that he could see the status of the employee that have been changed by pressing button.
please help me in this regard.1. Create a send_mail stored procedure in your database. Search the forums and the Internet for examples showing how to do this. Here are a few. There are many more.

It's possible if you computer is not authorized with your iTunes Store account it may not have transfered your purchases from the iPad to the computer. In client/server I can do it using OLE2.On the Web the OLE2 option would still work if your Forms server is on a windows machine with word on it. The files will be created on the server and you can get them to the client with the web.show_document built-in.
If you want to create them on the client machine directly you need a Java bean that will activate the COM interface.
