Need help mapping Exchange info to Apple Mail account setup

I need a little help mapping the Exchange settings I have from my IT department to the fields used by Apple Mail for an Exchange mailbox. It's not clear whether Apple Mail is really using the Exchange protocols or POP. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.
From my IT department:
Outlook web access (OWA): server.mycompany.com
Exchange server: exchg.server.mycompany.com
Exchange domain: EXCHG
Incoming mail (POP/IMAP): inserver.mycompany.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP): outserver.mycompany.com
Exchange proxy setting: exproxy.mycompany.com
Apple Mail 3.3:
Incoming mail server: Should this be exchg.server.mycompany.com or inserver.mycompany.com ?
User name: Should this be the userid that I use for https Outlook Web Access (OWA) login?
Outgoing mail server: outserver.mycompany.com
Outlook web access server: Should this be exproxy.mycompany.com ?
The Apple Mail fields for "incoming mail server" and "outgoing mail server" suggest that it's not really using the Exchange protocols so what does it do with the "Outlook Web Access Server" information??
Thanks in advance. I hope this thread is useful to others!

Create the mail account as "IMAP" and use these server settings:
Incoming mail (POP/IMAP): inserver.mycompany.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP): outserver.mycompany.com
User name: Should this be the userid that I use for https Outlook Web Access (OWA) login?
It should be the username in Active Directory, typically in the form "domain\usershortname" or "usershortname@fqdn_domain". Don't mix up the Active Directory domain with the mail domain! If not set up different, this should be the same credentials you use to authenticate for Outlook Web Access.

  • I need help importing Thunderbird folders into Apple Mail. I can't locate the folder files for thunderbird. OS Mountain Lion.

I have been using Thunderbird as an email client, but recently realized Apple Mail is a really good alternative and would like to change. However, I would like to preserve my existing Thunderbird email history and folder structure in Apple Mail. Apple Mail includes an import Mailboxes process, but when I try, I cannot locate the files I want to import from Thunderbird. They appear to be hidden. I haven't been able to determine if OS 10 hides files and how to make them visible.

All of your TBird mail files are located in ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/XXX.default. The library folder is hidden in Mountain Lion by default. To make it visible open the terminal app in your utilities folder and type "chflags nohidden ~/Library" without the quotes.

Here are the current settings for Comcast email (please note recent change)
To prevent spam and to ensure the security of our network and customers, Comcast no longer supports the use of port 25 for sending email. If you use an older email client (Outlook Express, Outlook, Mac Mail, etc.), this may impact your ability to send email. To learn more about port 25, please visit our FAQ.
To configure an email client to use Comcast email (@comcast.net), the following settings should be used for sending and receiving email:
    Recommended
    Only If Needed
    Incoming Mail Server - Name
    mail.comcast.net
    mail.comcast.net
Incoming Mail Server - Port Number
    995 (POP3)
    110 (POP3)
    Outgoing Mail Server - Name
    smtp.comcast.net
    smtp.comcast.net
Outgoing Mail Server - Port Number
    465 (SMTP)
    587 (SMTP)
    SSL Encryption
    checked
    unchecked
    Authentication
    Comcast ID and Password required

  • HT4889 Apple Mail accounts

How can I bring my (Apple) Mail accounts (including Mail Boxes, messages, signatures, etc) across to my new MacBookPro?

Migration Assistant will help you transferring the data from your old Mac to your new one. If you haven't set up your computer, it will ask you to restore files from another computer, so follow the steps. You can select what you want to restore to the new Mac. The same for Migration Assistant.
If you have already set up your Mac, Migration Assistant will create a new user with the migrated data, so you have to log in that user and you will access to your files, including mail addresses. See > http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html

  • IPOD TOUCH & APPLE MAIL ACCOUNT

I Updated software to 4.0 on my 8 GB IPod Touch and when I did the apple mailbox on the touch does not show the sent, trash or junk folders.
How do I get them back? Now all I show in the Apple mail account is the in box.
This however is not true of my Yahoo Account. It kept all 17 folders that I have in that account including the sent, trash & junk folders.

I have the same issue. At least we know it not just us. I did have issues when upgrading. My iPod immediately went through a restore after installing the upgrade but couldn't complete due to an error. Couldn't sync music due to "could not be found". Restarted the computer and it solved that problem. Don't know if I can restore but don't need to now.
Supposedly another update is coming this week to fix the bugs. Then another will release to fix the new bugs and so on. Such is life with software.

Does it show up in your Support Profile?
    No JavaScript Error
If should have been added when yo first setup your iPod. If not you should be able to add it  from within your Supprt Profile
You can enter your iPods serial number here and check you wwarranty coverage. This is really all that counts

I can't seem to get gmail from my apple mail account. I have removed the account and added it, but it says I have the wrong password. I close gmail and get in just fine. What's up?

I meant that I sign out, sign back in ok. Ergo, I know my password. Someone here on the support page  (you?) told me the culprit is the 2 step verification process which I had on. That makes a lot of sense as Apple mail won't get a code thereby jamming up the process. I could not even start a new account until I took that 2 step process off. Everything fine now thank you.

  • I followed everything I need to do to enable my Apple ID account multiple times. Yet I still am not able to purchase anything. Not even with apple credits I have already stored in my account. Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong.

What happens when you try to buy something ? If you are still getting the disabled message then since resetting your password have you logged out of your account on your device (by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store) or computer's iTunes (Store > Sign Out menu option) and then logged back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it ?
If that doesn't fix it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • E-mail accounts setup - migrating from classic & webstar to panther

I used workgroup manager to set up accounts, enabled e-mail & selected server but when I use system admin to look at the mail email accounts none show up also I can't see any users for the ftp server. The appropriate domains have been created. I've read every thing I can get my hands on yet I'm missing something. I'm finally upgrading my server to os x from classic running webstar4.5. Any help would be appreciated. John

E-mail accounts will only show up in Server Admin once they have either received mail or been accessed via IMAP.

  • Disable/Bypass the "Mail Account Setup" wizard

How can I disable or bypass the "Mail Account Setup" wizard and just create a new account in the "Account Settings" panel? The "Mail Account Setup" wizard won't let me get that far without jumping through all its unhelpful hoops, and I don't know to disable or bypass it.

"I have been having people with almost the same question for years"
Then obviously there's a need for it to actually be addressed. Right?
I (and apperently many other people as well) have a set of connection settings, all we want to do is enter them, but TBird keep trying to force us into handholding mode, autodetecting, etc. The thing won't even LET you enter the settings without forcing it's own autodetection routines first. And why force *everyone* (not just average Joes) to use a completely *separate* settings panel for new accounts when you ALREADY have an account settings panel? A panel which, I might add, is FAR more useful than the redundant "new account" one because it exposes all the account settings, not just a small subset.
Is it really that hard to let us non-dummies actually *just enter their settings*??? Especially when you fully admit you get a lot of people asking to *do just that*?
Why try to force "the Mozilla way" on all your users when Mozilla makes such enormous claims about supposedly beleiving so heavily in customization and personalization?
Frankly, you really don't have to userstand it at all. Obviously there *is* a need for it, otherwise you wouldn't be "having people with almost the same question for years". Doesn't that tell you something?

The new dialog added by that add-on is trivial to bypass *and* it doesn't force an auto-config attempt before allowing manual config, so I'm very happy with it as a solution, thanks.
