i'm having this kind of problem...error 3194 shows that your itunes is not the latest one...after updating, i try to update or restore my iphone 4 (4.3.4) to iOS5, the same problem occurs...Anyone of you solve this problem? error 3194...

Im having the same problem and practicly the exact same story hahaha, my old iphone broke so my uncle gave me his old 3gs but everytime i try to update or restore it it says that it was corrupted during download.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. My iPad Air worked great on OS 7xx but since updating to 8.01 and now 8.1, the display went crazy. Now, I'm also stuck in the restore loop and the iPad is useless. Oops, it finally looks as if it is going to restore as I'm writing, we will see what happens. All my data was erased as well.

I plugged my iPhone 3g in to iTunes and a new update was available for it (update version 4.2). So I downloaded it and started the update, and it got to the very last step and it quit and a pop out came saying "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored or updated. An error occurred (37)." And now it the iPhone won't even turn on unless its plugged in and even when it's plugged in it only shows the screen that says to plug into to iTunes, which just keeps repeating "iPhone is in recovery mode, needs to be retored to be used". And I have already done EVERY SINGLE TROUBLE SHOOTING STEPS REPEATEDLY. Nothing seems to work, if there is anyone that can help I would appreciate more than anything, this is my sisters iPhone, I was just borrowing it, now I broke it haha, I could really use someones help.
I also have an iPod Touch 2g from a year or two back that had the same problem but it was completely black no matter what, holding the home and power button or anything wouldnt work. But it still says its connected but is doing the same thing as the iPhone, it won't restore, it quits right at the end and says the same error message.Your antivirus or firewall is blocking the update.

I want to do a factory restore on my iphone 4s but I do not want to the iOS6. If I back up, can then restore backup and keep iOS5 since a factory restore will automatically upgrade me?

when I power on it shows go itune logo starts. Then I tried to download restore and update it shows Tunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes. iphone could not be restored. Then an unknown error occuired(1604) shows.an unknown error occuired(1604). It also happened to me. What I did was to put my USB connector at the back of my PC (the main USB port) then I open my iTunes again and Viola, it solves my problem.

i backup my iphone on my pc and copy backup file into drive D then i setup new OS on my pc. after that i copy the backup file into itunes backup folder but itunes can't find the backup file to restore my iphone. how can i restore my iphone?

I found the answer to my question.
When you attach a device (iPhone, iPad) to your Mac, in iTunes 12 in appears as a tiny icon in the second "row" of the iTunes display. Click the icon and the familiar iTunes display for the device appears. From there, on the Summary screen, you can see the dates of the backups of the device (iCloud and backup to the computer). You can also use the button to backup to the computer. -

2. Disable ALL security apps (firewall, antivirus/spyware) running on your computer.
3. Don't try to downgrade the iOS version. This isn't supported
4. If you EVER tried to hack thie phone or use apps like tinyumbrella, you may have to edit the hosts file on your computer to remove references to gs.apple.com
5. If your phone has been hacked (jailbroken, iOS downgrade, or unauthorized unlocking), you may not be able to restore the phone to Apple specs again.

Error 1 means that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
1.Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
2.Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
3.Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
4.If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support. -

Did you format the drive for Mac use before you tried to use it as a backup drive?
Are you using Time Machine on the drive? You can't view the contents of its backup database and the only way to access the info is directly from the Time Machine app. -
