Need help. New Iphone user.
Hi I just purchased my Iphone 3g from a friend of mine because he upgraded to a 16gb well long story short I got a new sim card and everything for it but I went to go sync it with my computer on Itunes to install the newest firm ware. It synced fine and updated fine then I went to reset all settings and everything to totally clear the phone but now when I try to turn the phone on it goes to the silver apple and sits there for awhile then the little round loading things shows up on it and then the whole screen flashes white and goes back to the silver apple. Now I tried looking everywhere on this site for troubleshooting and on the net but cant find any help. If anyone has had this problem or can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Eric
You activated the iPhone with AT&T via the iTunes activation process using the new SIM card which was successful?
After you installed the firmware update, you synced the iPhone with iTunes and afterwards, you selected erase all content and settings at Settings > General > Reset, which takes an hour or two and was successful but when finished, the iPhone will not not power up past the Apple logo?
If so, try putting the iPhone in recovery mode.

This will require restoring the iPhone with iTunes. This will completely erase the iPhone followed by re-installing the firmware. After the firmware is re-installed, you will be prompted to restore the iPhone from your iPhone's backup, which is the default selection. Manually select as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup which will not restore any settings. This must be followed by a sync.

Is occasional awkward behavior acceptable when operating the iphone? I'm asking b/c I haven't had mine for too long and I've come across some strange actions from the phone. Such as:
- Refusing to wake up. It goes to an empty grayish black screen when you hit the wakeup or home screen button, but then it goes back to normal when you hit it again. This doesn't happen all the time.
- Dimmed home screen icon. This has happened to me once. The "ipod" icon was being displayed as if it was being pressed on, thus the dimmed appearance. It returns to normal quickly. This again doesn't happen all the time.
- Mailbox Behaviors (Drafts, Sent, Deleted) freezes. When trying to access any of these three, the phone freezes instantly. The freeze is quickly remedied with a tap of the home screen button. This happens sporadically.
- An outgoing call does not go through on my end. The person on the other end can hear me but I can't hear them. All I hear is my echo. This again does not happen all the time.
So to sum it up, I experience a bunch of weird behavior... sometimes. One day the phone can be very "buggy" and lacking in performance, and the next time it can be functioning flawlessly.
So is this normal? Thank you so much!Standard troubleshooting steps in order are; power your iPhone off and on - which should be done with any GSM phone every few days or so, Reset, which is done by pressing and holding the Home button and Sleep/Wake or On/Off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so. I Reset my iPhone once a week or so regardless if needed.
Last being a Restore with iTunes. Be sure to sync your iPhone immediately before dong a Restore to update your iPhone's backup which is created and updated by iTunes if needed as part of the sync process.
When restoring, there are two options. From your iPhone's backup, or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. Choose from the backup first, which must be followed by a sync. If this doesn't work, restore as a new iPhone of not from the backup. This will lose all your iPhone settings, SMS messages available on your iPhone, notes available on your iPhone, recent calls, call favorites.
If none of the standard troubleshooting steps resolves these problems, time to give AppleCare a call (800) 694-7466, or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby. -
I am a new iPhone user. I'm a frequent technology user but not a sophisticated one. I am looking for an app where I can make lists -- books, movie titles, etc. And I want to be able to make individual folders. But I do not need much more capacity than that. Ideas?

What do you mean make folders? Like folders inside an application or accessing system folders? You can't do the latter. -
New iPhone user needs guidance setting up 4 iPhones for family - best approach?
Hi - I'm a new iPhone user tasked with setting up 4 iPhones for family (three 4S, one 3GS). I set up the first 4S using my mother's existing Apple ID (she has an iPad) and I think (hope) hers is fine. When I set up my father's phone, my sister said to enter my mother's Apple ID during setup since they wanted to use a single Apple ID for iTunes purchases. The setup screen I'm referring to the 7th screen into the setup process for a new iPhone 4S (after the Welcome, Language, Country/Region, Location Services, Wi-Fi Networks, and Set Up iPhone screens), where it asks you to "Sign In with an Apple ID" or "Create a Free Apple ID". This screen was where I entered my mother's Apple ID into my father's phone.
By entering my mother's Apple ID on my father's phone at this point during setup, I seem to have created a "clone" of her phone - their phone numbers are distinct and they can call each other but iMessages sent to either of them initially appeared on BOTH phones. I think I have now fixed that by creating a separate Apple ID for my father after the fact and entering it under Settings>Messages. Thinking I could also enter his new Apple ID under Settings>iCloud, I found I could not change it from my mother's Apple ID (it's greyed out). I saw a recommendation in another post to click on the red "Delete Account" button at the bottom, but will that delete my mother's entire account or only its association with my father's phone?
Backing up a step or two, I'm worried that at this point I should have entered/created a new Apple ID on screen #7 during initial setup of my father's phone (instead of entering my mother's Apple ID), and that just changing settings in iMessage, iCloud, etc. won't really fix any problem(s) I've created. I hesitate to set up the other two phones before knowing how badly I've already messed things up with this one.

Many include questions from folks migrating from older phones or MobileMe. I think my situation is simpler in that there are 4 new iphones and one existing Apple ID. Yes. Create his own apple id and sign him in. then tap settings ->store -> tap on the account name -> sign out.
Then sign in your fathers apple id. (create your fathers apple id on the computer, its much easier, trust me).

No. Tap settings -> icloud, and turn everything off (keep on the phone option). Then DELETE ACCOUNT (it's got red around it and at the bottom of the screen if you scroll down). You cannot sign out of iCloud, you can only delete the account. Then clean up the contacts and information on the phone.
Then you tap settings -> iCloud and sign in. Put your fathers apple id in the section. His information will be uploaded to www.icloud.com. Then go to www.icloud.com and sign in with his apple id. Make sure his information is uploaded (you'll have to select timezone and such).
From that point you are fine except for iMessage.
For iMessage to function properly, only one apple id can be signed into the iTunes store (settings -> store). If they are both signed into the same apple id on the iTunes store, than you need to turn off iMessage on one of the phones. The iMessage may be delievered to either phone when both are signed in under the same apple id in the iTunes store.
tap settings -> messages -> imessage off
This also disables facetime. If you want them to have iMessage and Facetime, they have to have seperate apple id's signed into the iTunes store.

Your best bet is to create each apple id on the computer (keyboards are easier to use) and then sign them each in during the creation process. Then change the iTunes store info to the stored apple id.
This will allow each person to serpate iClouds without interfering with each others Cloud as you set up new devices.

Doing it this way can cause problems (or used to, not sure if it still does), initially, when you set it up, it wants to create a backup or upload the blank info to iCloud. You are better off setting up their own apple id first and signing in with that, and then changing it in the iTunes store.

I need help with IPHOne 4s IOS 7.0.4 battery life not improving
Alright, I Ned help with my iPhone 4S battler life, it is horrible, it will drain in about 12 hours. All I do is check my email, text a few people, and check a few apps. When I may school, it is a hundred percent, then I check it during school etc, when I go to bed it is about 20-30% battery life. Need help. Any suggestions? I tried a hard resets and restoring to a new iPhone etc, nothing worked.
I"m not at all sure what is the problem when you are describing your battery as holding its charge for 12 hours???
How long do you want your device to hold its battery charge???

once i fully charge & then unplug my iphone after about 10 minutes of use it just turns off! so i plug it back in & once it turns back on it still shows that the battery has charge to it. so i'm wondering if anyone has had similar problems & can maybe give me some advice? i'm 23 & behind the times apparently! i'm not too experienced with these things as my best friend just gave this one to me as a gift. i'm hoping it just needs a new battery. any ideas or siggestions? thanks for your time!!

Hi, I just bought a Shuffle for myself, for the office when I want to listen to music. Refurbished they do not cost that much, especially the 512meg. And its smaller than my full size iPod! In iTunes my library is encoded in AAC192kbps. I selected th
