Need help on framing a shot.

Hi
Once a week a record a sermon in a church, with one guy preaching. How would you frame the shot?
Most of the time he will stand in the front like this:
and sometimes a little higher on a pulpit.
Up til now I have tried to center him, but there might be other ways too - just looking for some inspiration.

I don't know if you have any say over what is behind the pulpit, or where exactly it is that you can place your camera. However there are a few ways you can go.
The fastest and easiest is probably to set the candles up so that they evenly frame the shot on either side of him. The advantage of that is that you can achieve that from anywhere you have to put the camera. In other words, if you center him, center everything.
Try to get the shiny vertical lines out from behind him, either with camera angle or moving the podium a bit to his left. Or, place a nice big cross up there and position him just to one side of it. Just not too shiny a cross. The problem is that section of the wall is messing with your exposure. The little bit of light from the candle you can overcome, but the shiny gold and orange is probably fooling the camera.
If it were me, well, if it were me there would be an Ark with a Torah or two to one side instead of a cross, but anyway, if it were me, I would try to put him to one side or the other for a couple of reasons. The first is that it just seems to look better if you follow the rule of thirds and put his eyes at one of the cross points. ( I didn't get that accomplished in my example, but I meant to)
Putting an actual cross on one of the other cross points might be a good visual.
The second reason is that if you ever want to put text or an image up next to him when he is preaching his sermon, you have the room to do it. If you do that, you might want to place both candles on the same side of him. Possibly framing the cross?
I slapped this together quickly but you'll get the point.

When you see white pixels in an overexposed shot, it means that there's often no pixel data to work with.
While the best option is a reshoot (this time with proper monitoring), you may want to try the "Captain's Blowout Fixer" filter available here: http://pistolerapost.com/pluginz/index.html
It let's you looks to see which color channel has the most remaining pixel data (if any) and work with it to overcome production screw-ups like this. Make sure you watch the tutorial on how to properly use the filter.

Need help in framing an SQL query

Requirement is that
Let’s say I have a table say X
I am passing two input params from UI and in DAO i am querying these input prams against the table X(has c1,c2 as columns ) (as it has two columns mapping the input params A,B from UI).
if either one or Both of the input params matches ,only then i should fetch the records accordingly. It's understood that there won't be a scenario that both input params are null from UI.
I have three conditions here,
1.     A match against X, B doesnt Match
2.     B match against X, A doesnt Match
3.     Both A & B match against X
if i use let's say,
SELECT *FROM X WHERE (c1= A OR c2= B) .
•     if A match against X B doesnt Match It is fetching all the records matching A - requirement fullfilled
•     B match against X A doesnt Match It is fetching all the records matching B- requirement fullfilled.
•     Both A & B match against X It is fetching all the records from the table matching the first condition (which here is A) . requirement not fullfilled.
I am thinking of using the following query but I need to frame it in a way that based on ACHK & BCHK we need to add the conditions.

In start routine, if records that have a common record for PO 0OI_EBELN in ITROMML ODS and 0AC_DOC_NO on ITROFIL ODS , then the entire PO record details will be deleted from ITROMML ODS . Therefore 0AC_DOC_NO details from ITROFIL ODS will be filled in ITROCMH ODS and ITROCMD ODS.
Logic is like : Using the Material Document Number ITRMATDOC, line item ITRMTDCLI and fiscal year 0FISCYEAR as key - open POs (0OI_EBELN) from ITROMML ODS are checked with invoices 0AC_DOC_NO in ITROFIL ODS and if the respective keys match, then the entire record is deleted from ITROMML ODS and only invoiced records are brought into the second level ODS ITROCMH and ITROCMD

Need Help with Photomerge Group Shot

I'm trying to photomerge a group shot and having trouble with it. The person I'm trying to cut out of the source photo gets plopped into the middle of the final photo and I can't line her up with in final shot. Is there a way I can relocate the section that gets pasted into the final photo? I'm also have trouble with aligning the photo--how do you know what points to select in the fist and second photo? I've been playing with it, but the photos get terribly distorted.
Appreciate any help. I was expecting Photoshop Elements 10 to make this easy, and so far, it hasn't impressed me.

OK, here we go:
Make a selection (in the main image) of the area you want to be replaced:
Open your other image, select the head to use, and copy it to the Clipboard. (I simply used another one of the heads in this photo.)
Back in the main image, use Edit...Paste into Selection:
Change to the Move Tool and move the pasted-in image to where it looks best:
You already know what to do next with the Clone Tool. (Probably have to use Layer...Flatten Image to get rid of all the selections and layers so the Clone Tool can do its work....)

P.S., Looks like you did a real good job with the girl on the left.
P.P.S., The image is a bit too small for us to do precision work (but it's OK for this example). Next time you can try something about 2 or 3 times larger and see if the forum software accepts it.

Need help with easy setup - shot in progressive scan 29.98

i decided to shot this evening in progress scan on my sony vx2100.... i have two clients that are asking for progressive scan... i've had no luck capturing the video.... not sure of the setup settings

If I understand your problem correctly, you can get the footage into FCP, but it looks like ****.
That's what happens when you use "progressive" mode on a VX2100 or a PD150. It's not really a true progressive image, and was never intended for professional production use. (I have no idea what it was intended for, frankly, other than a selling point -- i.e., to claim it does "progressive" when it actually doesn't.)

Need Help with inserting a screen shot

Can someone pleassse help me?! If any of you are familiar with popular youtubers and how in their videos they include screen shots of facebook or twitter questions and they have them so they roll across the bottom of the screen, can you please help me! If anyone knows how to do this in Imovie 11 it would be HUGELY appreciated! Because when i try the picture in picture settings it zooms the screen shot so its massive and its also not an oblong shape anymore (like the shape of a facebook reply) i also need help at how this would transition to roll in from one side of the screen to the other?!

I think it is possible to do this in iMovie, although perhaps easier in Final Cut Pro X, which I would guess that iJustine is using.
First, I would take a still image of my video at the points where I want to superimpose a graphic. Since she is mostly superimposing graphics on her talking head, a single still might be sufficient.

Now, you will want to take this still to a photo editor that allows you to edit layers. Use PhotoShop if you have it. If you do not already have PhotoShop, it can be rather expensive, so I would suggest a tool like Acorn or Pixelmator, which I think are available in the Mac App Store.
Create a project in the dimensions of your iMovie still, e.g. 1920x1080.
You would put the still on the bottom layer, so you know where to put yoru graphics. You would position the graphic or screen grab at the next layer up. Now I would export the upper layer only as a PNG file. The PNG file has an Alpha Channel, which means you will see only the graphic and not the still in the background.
The main thing Final Cut Pro would give you would be the easy ability to have multiple graphics on the screen at the same time.
Now you can drag this PNG file into iMovie and drop it on the project clip where you want it to appear. A popup menu will appear. Choose Cutaway.
There are probably other ways to do this, but that is the way I would do it.

Newbie needs help with Flex app

Hi there. I am very new to Flex and also fairly new to
programming although I do have a little experience.
I am trying to create an app which stores code snippets or
common text I tend to use every day in my documents and emails.
So basically I need help on a design level. I can refer to
the developer's manual for exact instructions for commands, but I
need to know what to code first.
The app will consist of:
-a tree directory structure where I can create groups.
-There will be a basic text editor where I input all my data,
basic text formatting options (font, bullets etc) would be a bonus.
-A search function
-Finally it will ideally allow multiple client apps write to
a central database file over a network
Can anyone suggest how I should approach such a project?
Or are there any tutorials / source files which demonstrate
each bullet point?

I'm new too. But I think I might know the right components.
If you google any of these + flex 3 you should get some
decent documentation
tree - advanced dataGrid component
basic text editor - rich text editor component
search function - well, you're gonna need to read up on
arrays, and arraycollection. Once you get that stuff working, you
can write up a function to search for a string in an array.
network functionality - HTTPService, you can dump the
datagrid into a database, and have it load the database when you
open up the application.
Give these things a shot, tutorials / sources will come with
the google searches.

USe the trace function to analyze what happens and what fails to happen in the code you showed. trace the conditional values to see if they are set up to allow a shot when you press the key

I need help disentangling gmail and Thunderbird

The article "Thunderbird and Gmail" would be very helpful if I were setting up my email from the beginning. but I set it up a long time ago and I need help straightening things out. The folders at the left hand side of the Thunderbird screen are very confusing: Can I send a screen shot of them? I will send it if you will tell me how. There's something called "All mail" and I have no idea what is supposed to be in that folder. Some times when I expect to receive an email I find it in "All mail" but it is not in the Inbox.
If I can somehow wipe everything clean and start over without losing all the information that's in my computer now I probably should do that.

The ID Program folder will be relevant to your OS...
I took a shot and right clicked on my Scripts Samples, choose reveal in Explorer and opened up the ID Program folder.
As shown, there is a Fonts folder.
Drag/Copy/Paste fonts to this folder.

Need help with my ipod

I need help with my ipod. It alll started when I used TechTool Pro to wipeout data for my ipod and after finishing the wipeout, I restart my computer and after the restart I was ask by my computer whether to ignore, erase or eject the HD and I choose eject and what happen next is that I have a apple logo on my ipod and my computer now cannot recognises my ipod, and the apple logo just stay there. I am using a 3rd gen ipod.

The iPod and iTunes are not compatible with Windows ME and the minimum requirements are Windows 2000 with SP4 or XP with SP2 (although I use several iPods and don't have SP2).
If you can't upgrade to one of these, then you can use the iPod with ME if you are prepared to fiddle around a little. However, you won't be able to use iTunes.

Need help with Outlook 2013 connecting to Exchange server(2010)

I need help with Outlook 2013 and with my exchange server(2010) email account
After setting up account initially emails come in and than after an hour or two stop. My OWA is working fine with no issues. I have even created a forward rule in OWA to my GMAIL account whch works fine
However Outlook 2013 is not syncing messages, have difficulty in sending emails sometimes as it takes too long. In fact the connection also is intermittent. Even if the task bar shows connected to exchange, it seems that is not the case since new emails
and any emails I compose dont work. I have trouble shot the issue with my ISP and email service provide, but they havent resolved the issue I have also done a TraceRoute and that shows no drops or problems to he exchange server.
Can someone please help me resolve this matter so I can continue to use Outlook 2013( running Windows 8.1) in both my computers which have the identical problem

To answer your questions, please note the following
a) My account is set up in Cache Mode( not online mode)
b) I am the only other user on the account
c) When the connection to the exchange server is broken, I see upon clicking connection tab that there is no information in the box, and when I press reconnect it starts showing "connecting"
d) When the connection to the server is there, it shows connection as "established"
e) Sorry I dont understand th meaning of CAS array in your environment? Can you pls explain
Since yday I have been using Outlook 2010 on desktop and Outlook 2013 on my laptop using Exchange 2013 account. So far all emails are syncing, and I can send emails from both computers. However, I am concerned that the connection can break-off anytime,
as it has done that in the past on both outlook versions. The max time it has worked without any problem is 48 hrs and than after that the same issue of not connection, not syncing and unable to send emails happens
My ISP has checked and there is no network connectivity issues. My email service provider has trouble shot the issue many times, but to no positive results. I have also changed the profile a few times, but the intermittent connectivity problem hasn't
been resolved.
Can you identify the possible causes and more importantly a working permanent solution please

Need help in converting numbers to text in Italian language. I want to knw is there any method other than SE63 to translate these text in one shot. I have tried with LSMW also (as the sheet is in XLS format ).Plz reply if anyone is aware of this ..
