Hi , 3 things ..are not factory prebuild for easy use....
there is
no WWAN Card inside,
no WWAN Antennas prebuild  and third behind the prepared SIM-Slot is
no SIM-Card-Reader...
so it wouldnt work...
sorry ..
Must use external USB WWAN ...

  • NEED HELP TO SET UP SMALL NETWORK - WIRELESS SIGNAL FROM NOVATEL U760 USB

    Hello -
    I need help setting up a small network in my new home in Florida, which has no wired broadband capability - not cable, not dsl. My options are satellite (which I'd like to avoid) or wireless broadband via Millenicom (or now Virgin Mobile) using their Novatel U760 USB stick.
    Here are the network components - someone please tell me how to set this up:
    PC #1 (has wireless card, but I've connected it by ethernet to the router)
    PC #2 (no wireless card; connected via ethernet to router)
    MACBOOK, 1 1/2 years old (2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs RAM), running OS 10.58, connected wirelessly to router.
    AIRPORT EXTREME BASE STATION, Model A1143.
    I'm not thrilled about using a wireless 3G signal as my primary one, (sprint network, claims 600 - 1400 kbps speed), but it costs 1/2 to 1/3 of what a slightly faster satellite signal would.
    I have not ordered this service yet. Before I do, I'd like a clear understanding that I can, in fact, set up my simple network, which I'd probably do the same as it's now configured with cable broadband - both PC's plug via
    ethernet into the Airport Extreme router, the MacBook connects wirelessly - AND,
    my question is this:
    Can I plug the wireless card - a Novatel U760 USB-stick device - straight into that USB slot in the Airport Extreme base station and will it automatically recognize that device?
    Or, do I have to plug it into the MacBook and somehow share that wireless signal between the 2 PC's (only 1 of which has a wireless card, so I'd have to get a card for PC #2)?
    And help anyone can provide will be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Em

    from the Airport FAQ #14:
    "Question: Can I connect my Soundsticks or other USB speakers to AirPort Express?
    Answer: No. The USB port is for connecting a printer, not for other devices."
    Im assuming other devices include USB modems.
    So, I would say your cheaper route would be to get a second wireless card and just share your internet connection from one of your PC.

  • Need help connecting to BEFW11S4 wireless network

    A friend I visit often has a BEFW11S4 router. Other friends who visit connect immediately to the unsecured wireless network. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons I'm unable to connect with either of my laptops, so have to plug in the LAN. This is the only place I've ever had a problem connecting to a wireless network.
    My laptops are Toshiba Satellites, running Windows XP Home & Office, respectively. Sometimes they won't even recognize the network, or when they do, just won't connect. I've gone through the tutorial and all settings numerous times, turned off the firewall, turned off Norton and still no luck. Any help getting me connected is appreciated. Thanks.

    In your computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use.  Delete any existing entry for your friend's network.   Reboot your computer.  Return to "Preferred Networks" and add your friends SSID.  Then select this SSID and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".  Reboot computer.  You should login automatically when computer boots up.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need Help Setting Up a new Network ..

    Hello
    Newbie question, I am attempting to setup a small home network, where I want three WLANS
    Main
    Guests
    Kids
    I want to set up different policies for these three networks.
    I want the Kids to be able to access the Media server and other network devices, but limit the internet access. I want guest network to not be able to see the other two networks.
    I have an ISA550 Firewall a 2504 Wireless Controller and a SG300-28P Switch.
    I did manage to setup the Vlans on the ISA550 - Default as 192.168.75.x , Guest as 192.168.25.x and Kids as 192.168.35.x
    From here on - I would need some help setting it up the right way, Please help.

    I had to call Verizon and spend an hour on the phone, my Versalink is about 3 years old and I never updated it. There is a software update which makes it a little more mac friendly. Cables still run through it on the Ethernet port. I was able to turn the wireless feature off on the Versalink (to stop my neighbors and kids from bypassing the APE and just factory reset the APE and set it up with a shared IP adrs instead of bridging it. Also made sure I turned off the guest network on the APE. Once it was set up I clicked on Airport in the Airport Utility then wireless Clinets, jotted down the client I wanted to restrict access to (Kid's Laptop) then go back to Airport screen, last option on right Access then MAC Adrs Access Control change to "Timed Access", then click the + on the bottom of the window, type the MAC adrs you want to restrict and set time limits, when complete click done..... Only took me a week and a half to figure it out...... Good luck, if that doesn't help let me know, but I'm no expert...

    i think i have the most recent 327w update, because it now shows my modem screen in a red color and it is broken into 3 sections across the screen.
    as far as the AEBS is concerned, you did not use it in bridge mode at all?
    i thought you had to connect 1 cable from it to the 327w? I have about 5 items i will be connecting, so i will probably run any wired from the AESB, but not sure yet?
    thanks, and yaeh last time my network took me a bit of time as well!!
    what kind of encryption are you running?

  • Need help setting up Vmware Workstation Network....

    If I simply create 5 Windows Virtual Machines and assign each a different IP address subnet, how will they be able to use my local network router to get to the internet? Also how will autodiscovery between the machines work?
    For instance, if my local router is operating on 192.168.1.1 and they all have subnets of 192.168.10.x, how would I get them to the internet?
    I also need to be able to RDP and LogMeIn to the virtual machines.
    I thought I saw something about setting up virtual routers or gateways at some point, but I am unable to find anything that explains that stuff on a beginner level.

    What you want to do is configure the network as host only. That should isolate them from the outside network.
    Of course if you didn't want to bother with that, you could simply give them a different ip address subnet than your outer network and no default gateway. That would prevent them from seeing anything on your local network and vise versa.http://pubs.vmware.com/workstation-11/index.jsp#com.vmware.ws.using.doc/GUID-93BDF7F1-D2E4-42CE-80EA...

  • Need help connecting pritner to home network

    Okay, here is the run down.  I just created a home network with a Netgear wireless N router.  I have an Airport Extreme Base Station (domed) that is connected to an HP inkjet printer, but not to either the router or the modem.  Previous to the home network, the AEBS was its own network and I was able to printer from computers (PC laptop and Mac Mini) by switching networks.  Now, I want to be able to stay in the home network and print.  From what I am reading, it appears that I need to reset the AEBS and put it in bridge mode.  I found instructions for this online, but could not get it to work.  Can someone please help me out here or direct me to a tutorial on how to do this?  Thanks

    Something to try... check your computer name in the Sharing preferences. It sounds really bizarre, but when I first hooked up to my wireless, it had the same problem you are describing. Change the computer name to something with no spaces or strange characters. It worked for me! According to Qwest internet troubleshooting, this is a known problem with wireless Mac computers. Good luck!

  • Need help setting up wireless internet network

    I have a 1 GHz iMac G4 (purchased in 2003) that has a dsl connection to the internet via an ethernet cable and the dsl modem that was provided by my internet service (earthlink). My friend recently gave me her imac - same model. I've given it to my son for his room and would like to set up a wireless network so I can get his computer on the internet too.
    I've read enough here to figure out that our computers are compatible with the AirPort Extreme card. But what other equipment do I need? How many Airport Extreme cards? an AirPort station?, a router? I'm clueless but very good at following instructions. So if there is an FAQ somewhere that would be helpful too.
    Thanks!

    Sarah, Welcome to the discussion area!
    You need a wireless router. You can use one of Apple's or a 3rd party wireless router.
    You can connect one of the iMacs to the router via Ethernet if you want. Or you can add AirPort Extreme cards to both iMacs.

  • Need Help!!! About 5.1 Music!!!

    Hello Creative Card users, I recently got a SoundBlaster Live! 24-Bit and a 5.1 surround sound. It is interesting about the CMSS 3D feature, but I was curious about this question.
    Is there any way I can convert my MP3's to 5.1 Surround Sound?
    Thanks

    I use several ways, several apps, to create 6-channels files, so it would be to long for me to explain them all. Besides, there is a lot of information on the net on how to create sourround sound audio files, try for example http://www.doom9.org. They have a forum dedicated to audio encoding, along with some guides on "how to" for multichannel sound.
    But just to help you not get overwhelmed and confused with all the info outthere, there are some basics that u should know:
    UPMIXING: means taking a "X number of channels" file to a "Y number of channels" file where Y > X.
    This means that is a basic creation of a new audio file from from an existing audio file (source) in wich the new file has more channels than the source file. Now, the way of adding those extra channels is in what the upmixing techniques diverge.
    And DONWMIXING means the exact opposite.
    5.1: means 5 full range channels (20 to 20.000 Hz) plus 1 low frequency channels (1 to 120 khz). This .1 channel carries basically base sounds that add up an extra punch to the base information in the audio. Since they´re low frequency sounds, it´s called LFE (Low requency Effects) channel.
    The .1 channel IS NOT a subwoofer channel, since the 5 full range channels carry low frequency sounds that are reproduced also by a subwoofer (if the speaker asigned to that channel has a subwoofer).
    6-channels means 6 channels whether they are 5.1 kind of files or just 6 full range channels kind of files.
    Matrix vs. Non-Matrix: a matrix-encoded audio track means that a number of X channels (for ex. 6-ch)was downmixed using a series of equations that create an Y channels file (for example 2-ch).
    That means that the 2-ch file is matrix-encoded and by applying the inverse of the downmixing matrix (what would be an upmixing matrix) u can get back a (not exactly as original but very similar) 6-ch audio file.
    Non-matrix audio files means that there is no equation applied mixing of more channels than the original.
    2-ch is NOT synonimous of matrix-encoded and 6-ch is NOT synonimous of non-matrix-encoded. For example: if
    the original file had 12 channels and u downmixed it to 6 channels by eliminating 6 others, then there is no matrix applied to the resulting 6-ch file, u just deleted 6 of the 12. On the other hand, If u create a 6-ch file where every channel is the sum of a par of channel of the original (Ch1 + Ch2 = New Ch1, Ch3 + Ch4 = New Ch2, etc.) then there is a mtrix been applied in the downmixing, wich would be "take the 6 pairs of channels from the 12-ch file and and create a single channel for each channel pair where every new channel is the sum of the 2 channels in each pair". Understanding this,u can automatically create your own matrixes.
    Dolby Prologic II, wich is the one of the most used standards for 2-ch matrix-encoded audio, uses the folloing matrix for downmixing from 6-ch (5.1) file to 2-ch file:
    <<--- Reference
    Lt = Left total
    Rt = Right total
    L = Left
    C = center
    R = Right
    SL = Surround Left
    SR = Surround Right
    LFE = Low Frequency Effects Channel
    1 = 100 %, then 0.7071 = 70,71 % (of the maximum dB), or 0.5774 = 57,74 %
    [-] means 180° degrees phase shift, then -0.8165 = 81,65 % phase-shifted 180° degrees.
    Phase shifting "shifts" the audio wave acordingly to a 360° degrees axis. If the shift is 180°degrees wide, then what was positive will become negative and viceversa. by the properties of sound physic, when 2 waves have the same starting point, length (the duration of a cycle), and therefore the same frequency (Hz = cicles per second) but opposite values (Wave A in second 15 has 12 dB and Wave B in second 15 has -12 dB) they cancel each other out: this is called "waves cancellation" property.
    When they have the values within the same "side" or "phase" (Wave A in second 15 has 12 dB and Wave B in second 15 has 6 dB) then they add their values up: 12 + 6 = 18 dB total -> The "Adding Effect" Property (not the real term, i can´t remember the technical one)
    --->>
    The 2-ch "Dolby Prologic II matrix-encoded" file:
    Lt = [L x 1] + [C x 0.7071] + [SL x -0.8165] + [SR x -0.5774]
    Rt = [R x 1] + [C x 0.7071] + [SL x 0.5774] + [SR x 0.8165]
    * Mixing the LFE in Dolby Prologic II is not recommended by Dolby.
    A decoding matrix then would try to invert the equation to recreate the 5 channels.
    Dolby Digital: it´s the DVD standard for audio. Dolby Digital can be from 1-ch up to 5.1-ch audio files, with bitrates that vary from 112 up to 640 kbps depending on the number of channels. It´s know as AC3, also as A52.
    DTS: the Digital Theater Systems compression technique. It´s a 6-channels (5.1) format. Uses bitrates of 1234kbps(for 44.1 kHz) or 768kbps or 1536kbps (for 48kHz). I don´t know if other bitrates are possible, but still is very limited in options.
    The standard Dolby Digital is 5.1-ch at 448kbps, the standard DTS is 5.1-ch at 1536kbps (basically, 3 times more space needed that a Dolby audio track, that´s why I don´t personally like it.)
    Others: AAC, OGG and MP2 are capable of multichannel encoding but as far as I know there aren´t hardware DVD-players capable of playing them (maybe for AAC but I don´t know the others). MP2 is low quality. AAC and OGG are great formats but are not used in DVDs. MP3 can be multichannel too (not a standard).
    Software:
    AC3Filter and ffdshow have customizable matrix features that allow u to create your own matrixes for decoding of AC3, DTS, AAC, OGG, and whatever other formats these Directshow filters can play. These are freeware.
    BeSweet is a program capable also of customizable matrix encoding/decoding. Freeware. Great software for many tasks, but its AC3 encoder is not so good (the only downsize). Is not a filter.
    Adobe Audition, Vegas Video, Maven3D Pro, Nero Soundtrax, Plogue Bidule are some of the products capable of creating multichannel encoding depending of your hardware some of them. These are paid software.
    BUT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IN AN EASY WAY:
    the easiest, fastest way to create a 5.1-ch file is to set the the Speaker settings to 5.1, CMSS 3D to Active (or On), Surruond Mixer´s Recording Source to "What U Hear", and use the Creative Media Source® Player to record a 5.1-ch (by selecting "WAV. Multichannels" as Recording format). Remember to mute every input on the Surround Mixer BUT the Wave.
    U´ll get a 5.1 96kHz(?) 24 bit mutichannel audio file in WAv format.
    Open it with BeSweet and apply resampling (to 44.1 kHz and 16bits) and export it as 5.1 WAV.
    Then Use OGG or AAC to recompress so u´ll get a smaller file than the WAV multichannel.
    This a totally FREE-OF-CHARGE way for 6-ch upmixing.

  • Need HELP! connecting to wireless network; IP Address problems!

    I am trying to connect to wireless networks using the AirPort built into my MacBook Pro. There are two specific networks I am trying to connect to, both are WEP protected. I know the passwords and can get into each of them but I cannot connect to the internet, which is the main reason for connecting to them in the first place! When I go into System Preferences and click on Network, I see that next to AirPort it says I am connected to the network but may not be able to connect to the internet because my computer has a Self Assigned IP address. I assume this means my computer is not receiving an IP address from the network. I am set on full auto with DHCP. So what's wrong? Please Help!!!

    That indicates that the MacBook Pro did not successfully communicate with the DHCP server on the network. Do those networks have access control (MAC address filtering) enabled? If so, the best solution is to reconfigure the base station so that this feature is disabled. This adds no real security since MAC addresses are easily discovered and cloned.
    If you can't disable access control, you will need to add the MAC address of the wireless interface of your MacBook Pro to the list of allowed clients.

  • Need help sharing folder on home network

    I just setup 10.4 server on a mac mini for my home. I would like to share a Public folder for the family's files and itunes on the server. I would like to have it be completely open for access by anyone in my home network. What is the best way to set this up??
    Currently I made a user "itunes" and shared Music which my XP machine and my Macs can access. But folks need a password to get into it. I want it completely non-secure. I did this via Server Admin. It almost seems easier to just share a folder via "Sharing" in Sys Prefs.
    I replaced this machine with a SuSE Linux machine just a couple days ago. It was a lot easier to share on SuSE, but I guess I'm just not used to the system yet.
    Thanks for the help.
    Tom
    PS - I posted this on the 10.5 section by mistake.

    In Tiger server you setup sharing of folders/files using he WorkGroup Manager, WGM, in Server Admin you configure the AFP and/or SMB Windows filesharing server(s) and turn them on/off.
    I don't think you can leave the password empty for SMB server access for a non guest user.
    So if you turn on guest access I think guest shared folders accessible without a password.
    Otherwise you might from Windows need to "connect as an other user" and perhaps tel Windows which machine/server should authenticate the user by entering server machinename\username or server ip\username and password (which can be very trivial like "123" or something).

  • Need help opening a CD about family history

    The instructions for the CD are (1) insert disc and wait for icon to appear on desktop [this I can do]; (2) open Netscape [here's the starting point for my question....]
    Is Navigator the same as Netscape and which version do I look for [my mac is OS 10.6.7]? What do I need to know about installing it, given that I'm obviously not very tech-savvy?
    And what does a browser have to do with a CD anyway?
    I'm sorry if I picked the wrong forum to post this question! But I appreciate any help you can give me.

    Follow the rest of the instructions in any web browser unless you run into further issues. This typically occurs when the files on the CD are the same format as those used on the web.

  • Need help setting up ftp/home network

    I am hoping someone can help me here.
    I have an emac, imac dv se, and 2 powerbooks. They are all connected to the internet via airport cards. I want to allow all of these devices to access a firewire drive that is connected to the emac AND make those files accessible to me and my wife over the internet. what is the easiest way to do this and what additional hardware/software do I need?
    thanks in advance for the assistance!
    emac 1 Ghz SD 768   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

    Turn on FTP in the sharing control panel. Use Connect to Server in the Finder with an FTP URL or use an FTP client or ftp in the terminal. With FTP you can do a:
    $ cd /Volumes/nameofthefirewiredrive
    then go from there.
    File Sharing on OS X only shares the "Public" directory in your home directory. You might be able to put a symlink inside Public to /Volumes/thedrivesname
    $ ln -s ~/Public/externaldrive /Volumes/externaldrive
    and try enabling Personal File Sharing and trying Connect to Server.
    If your wireless network uses DHCP, remember that the IP address of a given computer may change without warning if DHCP give it a different IP. You might have better luck using the Bonjour/Rendevous name of the computer to connect consistently.

  • Need help reinstalling Yosemite/Question about external hard drive

    I have an early MacBook Pro and I have to reinstall Yosemite because I've been getting nothing but spinning beach balls, slow loading, lag in type showing up, and wi-fi issues.  I took the laptop to the Genius Bar at the Apple store last week and they ran diagnostics on everything and all was perfectly OK.  No hardware issues, no memory issue and he said my laptop was very clean.  He saw the spinning beach ball many times while he was working on my laptop and suggested that I turn off File Vault as that could be causing the slowdown.  He said if that didn't work (it didn't) to buy an external hard drive (which I received today) and to back up everything through Time Machine then reinstall Yosemite.  I specifically bought an external HD that says "for Mac" and as soon as I connected it Time Machine opened and did the backup.
    Now these are my questions.  Are all my photos on iPhoto, and my Word for Mac documents backed up so that when I reinstall Yosemite, everything is going to be right where I left it?  Will I lose Word for Mac and have to reinstall it?  Isn't Word for Mac a one time use/install and will I have trouble and have to call Microsoft to input my authentication key in again and will they let me? I know silly questions but I'm really worried about losing stuff.
    Also step-by-step detailed instruction on how to reinstall Yosemite would really be appreciated.  Thank you!

    If you have taken the backup using the Time machine then there is nothing to worry as all your photos from iPhotos and Word for mac documents are backup safely by your time machine.
    Only keep one thing in mind that the external HDD which you use for the time machine backup should have the capacity size of about 3-4 times that of your backup data size. Or else, the time machine external drive will start deleting the files if the external drive is about to be full.

    You absolutely don’t have to reinstall the Word for mac if its install in the first place because Time machine will backup the system installed files of your MS Word which you had installed.
    Word for mac is a one time install and you don’t have to call Microsoft for any authentication key after you have restored your Word backup files from the time machine drive. As I said before the time machine will backup your Word system installed files leaving you no chance to reinstall it again.

    Here, Yosemite reinstall procedure......
    Important:    To reinstall OS X, you must be connected to the Internet. Make sure your power adapter is plugged in. Reinstall OS X using the built-in recovery disk.
    In the menu bar, choose Apple menu > Restart. Once your Mac restarts (and the gray screen appears), hold down the Command and R keys.
    Select Disk Utility, then click Continue.
    Select your startup disk on the left, then click the Erase tab.
    Choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the Format menu, enter a name, then click Erase.
    Important:    Erasing the disk removes all the information from the disk. Be sure to back up the information you want to keep to an external device.
    After the disk is erased, choose Disk Utility > Quit Disk Utility.
    Select Reinstall OS X, click Continue, then follow the onscreen instructions.
    Hope this helps.....

    Hello everyone!
    I have a Dell Inspiron 3521. It had Windows 8.1 on it and I installed Windows 7 Pro OEM 64 bit. I did delete the old windows file. I was able to install all the drivers from the Dell website, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the right driver for the "Network Controller". I tried Driver Identifier and it shows me two drivers missing: 1: BCM43142A0, 2: Network Controller.
    Here are the hardware IDs for the NC:

    I did find a post with someone having the same keys, but the driver in the link didn't help me. Maybe it's the way I installed the drivers? Or the way I installed windows 7 ?
    Please help!!!

    The latest Dell Driver for the Dell Wireless 1704 Card is 6.30.223.228. You may also try the later Dell Wireless 1708 card 6.30.223.245 (both are Broadcom rebundled drivers) first directly and then through the device manger.
