I am trying to edit a project and I have it on an external hard drive as a quicktime file. When I play the quicktime file it has good audio. When I import the file into FCP I lose the audio...

Thanks... I have downloaded streamclip... now how do I demux the clip and demux to what.... Sorry if these are stupid questions!!!! It is not allowing me to choose demux only export to MPEG... will that work? if not is there a trick to get it to allow me to choose demux?

I just need help. I have ordered a reviewer online that has audios and texts in a pdf file. I was told to download the latest adobe reader on my computer. I have done the same thing on my ipad mini. I am not so technical with regards to these things. Therefore I need help. I can access the audios on my computer but not on my ipad.
I want to listen to audios with scripts or texts on them so i can listen to them when i am on the go. I was also informed that these files should work in any device. How come the audios doesnt work on my ipad.
Please help me on what to do.

Premiere only shows audio when importing a .wmv file
I have a 30 sec spot that is a .wmv file. It plays normally in Windows Media Player, plays normally in Bridge, but when I import it into Premiere CS6, it shows it in the project file as a .wmv, but when I pull it onto the timeline or put it into the source window, all I see is an audio file. What happened to the video? Why won't it import also, I know it's there because it plays outside of Premiere just fine. PPro is supposed to import wmv files but where's the video?
Buy the latest version of Nero, import the problem file to a DVD or Blu-Ray project then use the Export function. I have been amazed many times how many file types I cannot import to Premiere or Media Encoder that Nero can import and convert to something Premiere can work with.
Just yesterday I was given a 720P wmv file where Premiere gave me a perpetual "Media Pending" image for the video. Media Encoder likewise gave me a "Rendering" message that lasted forever. Nero allowed me to import the file then export as an AVCHD file with the m2ts extension which Premiere can handle.

I record using Quicktime and the built in webcam on my MacBook Pro. When importing the file to iMovie the audio is inconsistent in its syncronisation with the video. Any ideas?
This is probably caused by the internal webcam on Apple devices being optimized for FaceTime rather than for movie making. In FaceTime, the goal is to transmit the information using a little bandwidth as possible, so the video will be recorded at a variable frame rate. The frame rate will get low if you are still, and will speed up if there is a lot of motion.
To fix, I would suggest that you use a free app like MPEG Streamclip. Drag the clip into MPEG Streamclip and export it out at a constant framerate.
If it is an HD movie, I suggest exporting it from MPEG Streamclip using FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME. Choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video compression. For sound, choose uncompressed 48khz. That should work, but I can't test it right now. If MPEG Streamclip does not work for you, let me know and I can recommend another free tool. -
No audio when importing MPEG-2 files
I am importing MPEG-2 files from a Sony SR40 HDD camera. The video imports fine, but there is no audio track. I am connecting with a USB cable. Any ideas?
the mpeg2 files mux (mix) the audio & video together in one stream.
To work with the files in FCP, you must demux them. The application MPEG Streamclip can do this for you. Google it, it's free.

No audio when importing .M2TS video file into PP
Hello hopefully someone can give some insite to why I'm having this problem. I'm using the Hauppauge HD PVR to capture HD footage from my DVR
and I'm getting mixed results when I import into PP. The video is fine and sometimes the audio works and other times it doesn't, I let PP comform the file before I try editing it. The captures are @1920 x 1080 in 5.1 audio, if I capture with just 2 channel audio I have no problem and everything is fine but capturing 2 channel audio kinda defeats the purpose of doing highdef to Bluray. When I view the same file that doesn't have audio in PP with a player everything plays and sounds fine, so I know the capturing process is fine. Any suggestions would appreciated!Welcome to the forum.
First, what version of PrPro are you using?
In earlier versions, pre-CS4.1, you need to copy the AC3 .dll from Encore to PrPro, to use AC3 Audio. In CS4.1 - CS 4.2, that is no longer necessary.
Now a note on Exporting DD 5.1 SS. You will need the Minnetonka SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in. You get 3 trials of it, then must purchase it to Export as DD 5.1 SS. If you go this route, purchase from within PrPro, as you will get an Adobe-user discount of ~ US$50. If you buy from the Minnetonka Audio site, you'll pay full price.
Also note that Hauppage might not create 100% DVD/BD compliant DD 5.1 SS. That could be an issue too.

No audio when importing to Quicktime 7 Pro
I have looked for an answer in the forums but can't find one. I have an older MiniDV camcorder I am trying to get some video converted to digtal media. The videos play great when I watch them on the camcorder audio included.)I am using the firewire output and first tried iMovie (version 10.0.2) (I am on Mavericks). I was able to get video an sound but the video was so choppy it was just hard to watch, the audio with the video was OK, just choppy where the video kicked out. So I then downloaded Quicktime 7 and bought the Pro version and I was able to import the video with no choppiness at all but there was no audio. I have tried setting the microphone in the preferences to the camcorder and I have tired the different formats including raw but I still cannot get the audio to go with the video.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.The reason I think this is worth trying... A G5 should have enough processor speed, but it lacks a graphics card that can offload the processor for some of the heavy lifting...therefore less resources available for audio.
Also, I would recommend that you create a duplicate of your project and cut it down to about 5 minutes or less (go to Project Library. Right-click on project name, and select Duplicate). Then you can test this without waiting 4-5 hours. -
hii, on my iphone 4s, i tried upgrading my OS and i was asked if i needed back up and i said yes, after upgrading i couldnt find any of my files, document, pictures, music and all. please i need help please.

usually when you upgrade, it should not delete your files, but if it happens, than you should have a backup.
Unfortunately it is very common, that people don't know, what exactly is in the backup.
The question is, what files exactly you are missing? Own pictures, or taken with the device? Purchased music form the iTunes Store, or own? ....
Documents and files are mostly up to the developer of the app, if they are part of the backup, usually not and you need to transfer them before.
In the backup you will find just pictures from the Camera Rolle folder, everything else you should have on the PC, if you had it on the device.
Same then for music, you can transfer purchased music from the device, but your own works just one direction, from PC to device, from device to PC it doesn't work.
In future I recomand you to be sure how the backup works or use a 3rd party app (iExplorer) where you have a little bit more "freedome" than with iTunes.
Or you maybe just restored from the worng backup -

Before you sync your iPhone make sure that all the music that was synced to your phonereviously has been copied to your iTunes on the new MacBook Pro. Then when you connect your phone you will be able to either sync all music or select only those playlists that you want on the phone.

When i tried to open the apps store and go to updates, the apps that need to be updated were not appearing therefore i have no idea what those apps are so that i can update them. The next best suggestion I have is to back up your device in itunes and restore the software back onto your device. It sounds like you might have had a error when downloading the software update.

The only contacts I now have are from my Exchange account. Any help please. I tried "Import from SIM" but as all my contacts were on MobileMe, they're all gone!!
that happens for people who used icloud for everything but contacts. When they updated and went through initial
set up, signing into cloud enabled everything including cloud for contacts. Since they had zero contacts in cloud, cloud cleaned out their contacts, but synced everything else that icloud has, like calendars, reminders etc. If those contacts were never backed up anywhere - they gone. If there is back up in cloud, it needs to be restored.
Contacts sync in the cloud need to be turned off, right after restore.
