Need help redeeming my itunes gift card

I got a couple of itunes gift cards for xmas and every time I put in the code it says the same thing... "Your request could not be completed. Make sure you computer's date is set correctly and that it accepts cookies from the itunes music store." I'v checked the date but im not sure how to check the cookies.
Please help. Its been a week and I still have'nt been able to figure this out.

There isn't a phone number for iTunes Support.
If you've forgotten your answers to your security questions then you can get them reset : If you forgot the answers to your Apple ID security questions
If you have a credit card on your account then its details have to complete - and asking for their details is also a way of checking that you have a valid billing address in that country. As long as you are buying content for yourself and not trying to gift content (you can't use your balance for gifting) then the purchase price (plus any applicable taxes) should be deducted from your balance. You can only gift via a credit card - you can only use your account's balance for buying content for yourself.

I've been having the same issues too, and thought it was just my outdated computer or account?!
Every time I try to purchase a song, "session has timed out" shows up after I click "agree" to the terms!? I seem to be in the exact same scenario as 'SportsBarn' above: Itunes support have replied repeatedly with the same "solutions" but nothing has helped or even been applicable. I have an older laptop, 2005 Powerbook running OS X 10.4 Tiger so it's not compatible with the latest iTunes 10.5.2 which requires minimum OS X 10.5. I've been using the balance already in my iTunes account (from redeemed giftcards over the past few years) with no problem, until recently (my last successful purchase was October 2011). I wonder if it's the older OS or just a redemption glitch even with newer computers?

What you normally should do when you have an iTunes card that has not been activated is go back the retailer from whom you purchased the card and discuss the problem with them. They should either correctly activate the card or give you a new one. If they refuse to help, as some retailers do, or you don't know or can't get to the retailer, go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. They will ask for a scan of the front and back sides of the card as well as a scan of the receipt

As far as I know redeeming a card simply adds the value to your account.
When I credit a gift card I get a credit appearing in my iTunes account.
Every time I buy something the cost is deducted from my 'iTunes credit', the card is no lobger needed or usable after redemption.

I used this when accidentally scratching off some of my code
Open iTunes and go to Redeem
Enter any code and click Redeem, it will prompt you for a correct code
do the same a couple more times until a new item pops up saying "Please re-enter your code or Get Help"
The 'get help' bit is a link so click on that, you will then get to a Code Redeem Support page where you can input the serial number, providing the serial belongs to a card that has not been previously redeemed then you will get the amount credited to your account

If you still can't redeem your card, then you should contact iTunes Store Customer Support via http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ and provide the serial number on the back of your gift card. The article above shows you how to locate the serial number.
