Need help repairing Driver - pic included.
Hey guys, i have been trying to get boot camp to work on my macbook for ages. First i got it to work, but then when i used windows, it wouldn't recognize my wireless in my macbook. Anyways, to make a long story short, i used the boot camp assistant tonight to delete the windows partition, then i was trying to re-install windows XP.
As most of you know, the first step is to partition the disks, when i told it how much to partition of each it came up with a driver error saying i needed to repair the disks.
so, i went to disk utility to try and verify the disk, its did, but then it came up with this:
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f344/kawirider04/Untitled-1-1.jpg
any help would be great guys, i eventually want to run windows xp on my blackbook so i can play World of Warcraft with a higher framerate. Anyways, thanks in advance!
BTW - after i 'verify disk' i can't click on 'repair disk'
Black Macbook 1gb Ram Mac OS X (10.4.8)
Boot up from your Install DVD and then launch Disc Utility to verify/repair the disc and permissions as well.

I think I need help with driver (software) settings for D110a
I think I need help with driver (software) settings for D110a all-in-one
Product: D110a all-in-one
OS: Windows XP Professional
Error messages: None
Changes before problem appeared: None--new installation
The quality of photo images (mostly JPG files) in printouts is awful even though the files display beautifully on the PC screen. I am using
IrfanView software for displaying/printing. As far as I can tell, IrfanView is not the problem.
When I print the same images on a Deskjet 5150 attached to a different PC also running XP Pro and IrfanView, the quality of the printouts is at
least acceptable, Some would probably say good or very good.
It's dificult to explain in words the problem with the printouts. A picture of really pretty vegetables (squashes, tomatoes, watermelon, etc) comes
out much too red. Moreover, the red, which appears shaded on the screen, seems to be all one shade in the D110a printouts.
Something similar happens to a view of a huge tree in full leaf. On screen, there are subtle variations in the "greenness" of the leaves. In the
printout, all green is the same shade. In the same printout, the trunk of the tree is all a single shade of grey. It isn;t even obvious that the
trunk is a round, solid object.
I liken the effect to audio that disappears entirely when you lower the volume and gets clipped into square waves in even moderately loud passages.
I don't know whether the D110a driver software permits adjusting the parameters that appear to be set incorrectly, and if adjustments are possible,
how I would identify which parameters to adjust, how I would access them, or how I would adjust them. I'm hoping that someone can help. Thanks.
I forgot to mention that I have used the diagnostic application and it tells me that there are no problems.

Hi everyone,
I noticed the following message when network starts on my gateway
Warning: This functionality is deprecated.
Please refer to /etc/rc.conf on how to define a single wired
connection, or use a utility such as netcfg.
Then I realized the way network settings should be written in rc.conf has changed. But I can't figure out how this should be done.
Currently, my set up is the following (old way):
INTERFACES=(eth0 eth1)
eth0="dhcp"
eth1="eth1 192.168.0.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
ROUTES=(!gateway)
eth0 is on DHCP because the IP is dynamically assigned my ISP.
eth1 has a fix IP because it's on the LAN side.
No problem to use DHCP on eth0 with the new settings.
But for eth1, I don't know what I am supposed to write for gateway.
Wiki isn't clear on that one either, and it looks like many articles still refer to the old way.
Any guidance appreciated, thanks.
brazzmonkey,
you can't define 2 interfaces the old way (even though I saw some tricky workaround somewhere in the forums).
Use, f.e., netcfg:
Comment your old lines.
In /etc/rc.conf insert:
NETWORKS=(Eth0-dhcp Eth1-static)
DAEMONS=(..... !network @net-profiles ....)
In /etc/network.d create 2 files:
First one is named Eth0-dhcp.
Contents:
CONNECTION="ethernet"
DESCRIPTION="Whatever text"
INTERFACE=eth0
HOSTNAME="your hostname"
IP="dhcp"
DHCP_TIMEOUT=15
Second one is named Eth1-static.
Contents:
CONNECTION='ethernet'
DESCRIPTION='whatver'
INTERFACE='eth1'
HOSTNAME='hname'
IP='static'
ADDR='192.168.0.10'
GATEWAY='192.168.0.1' # your gateway IP
DNS=('192.168.0.1') # your DNS server
The names Eth0-dhcp and Eth1-static are not magic. They just must be the same in rc.conf and in /etc/network.d.
Hope it helps.

Need help repairing bootable external drive permissions
I, like some of the other posters I have read, have messed up the permissions on a bootable external drive.
I don't have direct access to my home computer right now so I set up an external bootable copy of my personal account, so I can basically run a copy of my own personal computer from anyone elses mac. And when I get back home I will be able to copy back across any new files.
The set up was working great till I realized that my external drive was completely readable, and writeable by anyone who turned it on as a peripheral disk while logged in on the main computer if the computer was booted up on it's own startup disk.
If my external was set as the startup disk, then my password and account kept everything secure.
So anyway, not really knowing what I was doing I, using the show info command, changed the group permission for the whole disk/volume from admin to my username. Now unfortunately I cannot startup using my external disk; the whole system goes straight to Kernal. And all my files are still totally assesible to any one logged in on the computer using its own start up disk.
Can you help me with the commands, to first repair the group permission so my disk is bootable again, then second so that I can prevent anyone with out my password access to any files on the disk?
Thanks alot!Can you help me with the commands, to first repair the group permission so my disk is bootable again, then second so that I can prevent anyone with out my password access to any files on the disk?
On another machine, open the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, select your drive in the list of disks, and then click on the Repair Permissions button; other solutions are available if this doesn't work.
Your two goals are mutually exclusive; there is no way to restrict access to an entire disk to yourself while maintaining the ability of that disk to boot Mac OS X. Your home folder can be protected in this way by changing the permissions on the item inside /Users/ with the house icon, or by turning on FileVault in the Security pane of System Preferences.

Need help with drive installation for K9N2 SLI Platinum
Hi
I am new to the forum and to MSI
This is my 6th computer build and first time using SATA and PCIe
My hardware includes:
• MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum Motherboard
• Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5
• GeForce 9800 GT 512MB GDDR3
• AMD Phenom X4 9850 Quad Core Processor, Black Edition 2.5GHz
4MB Cache 2000MHz [4000 MT/s] FSB
• Thermaltake Ruby Orb Aluminum Core CPU Cooler
• UltraX3 850 Watt ATX Modular Power Supply
• [1] Western Digital 200MB7200 ATA133
• [1] Maxtor 80MB ATA133 Drive [Not connected yet]
• [1] Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA II HARD DRIVE
• [2] Seagate 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB SATA Hard Drives With 32 MB Cache
[Not connected]
• LG DVD-RW
• Toshiba DVD-ROM
• AMI Bios
• Antec Full Tower case
The board set up fine, but I can’t figure out how to install my drives. The MSI directions are the worse I’ve ever seen, or should I say non-existent. They don’t even describe the bios entries… I am familiar with the bios, but don’t know all the settings for the board. I set the time and date and had to rearrange my drive placement on the board to have my 2 DVD drives show up on the secondary IDE Channel instead of the primary IDE. The Western Digital 200MB7200 ATA133 is on the primary master IDE. I’m old fashioned so I still use FDISK to erase the old OS and partition the drive… I couldn’t see my SATA drive in FDISK even though I could see it in the bios. Now I want my Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA II HARD DRIVE to be the system drive and the Western Digital 200MB7200 ATA133 to be a slave drive. My previous boards had raid but I just used them as additional slave drives.
My goals: I want to have redundancy for my personal audio/video and my work. I will use the 2 Seagate 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB SATA drives for that.
I also want 2 additional drives not purchased yet for my other data storage needs and for games
My questions are:
Can I use the SATA drive as the system drive if a drive is connected to the primary IDE?
How do I set up Raid on this board? I actually want to use its capabilities this time.
Does this board present any special problems with dual booting XP sp2 and Vista 64bit.
If I put another set of Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5 in anticipation of installing Vista 64bit will this cause a problem other than windows XP not seeing the additional memory.
Is there additional documentation for this board somewhere?
Please help…I have been working on this thing for 4 days straight. My last build took 2 hours not including software installation. Hope I stated everything you need to know. Thanks in advanceHello!
Advice no. 1 will be not to have everything connected at once. Have the chosen SATA and one of the DVD:s connected and install Windows. (Windows can only boot from bootable devices. It "jumps" all un-bootable.) Once you have a successful boot and happy with it, remove other things from the boot-sequence.
Eh, some of your questions suggest you don't have the full manual, but a multi-lingual one. Check this out, bottom of the list:

Bootcamp partion lost after OS X update, Need help repair my disk.
Hi.
After updating to Yousimiti yesterday, i encountered som problems with my bootcamp partion.
I wasn't able to boot from the partion. I googled a lot, and found some posts, where the problem was resolved, and followed the following steps:
sudo fdisk -e /dev/disk0
p
setpid 4
07
flag 4
p
write
y
After this i was able to boot form my Drive, but it tells me: "Operating system missing".
Then i started investigating further i saw that my bootcamp partion now only is 60GB, where before it was 100GB.
When i first made my Bootcamp i made it 60GB which i fast found out was not enough for the programs i needed, so i used a program on windows to expand the patron, from empty space on the disk. Now i have 40GB blokced space, and the 60GB Bootcamp.
From what i have read the problem is that Windows and OS X does not use the same Data table format.
Is it possible to Rewrite the datable, os that OS X knows that the Windows part is 100GB and not only 60?
Underneath here i linked to some screenshots of the problem, Hope you guys can help me! (Sorry that it is danish, hope you see et anyways)
And there some info that i got from a "Partition inspector app":

Need help converting ithmb pics to jpg
We just got back from vacation and most of our pictures were taken with the iPhone4. The problem is, when we moved the pics to our PC, they won't open. Any idea how to convert them? From what I've read in a few online posts, I'd have to download at least two programs to do it.
Actually, .ithmb files are not .jpegs. They are RAW format, which is why you cannot view them on your pc. Keith's software only works on MAC OS but here is the only thing that will work for a pc. Don't waste your money on anything else, because they will not work. This is freeware and it's a very small command line program. You can download it for free here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/50707723/37b8a1ad/iThmbConv.html
Now follow these steps:
1. Create a new foder called Thumbs as a subdirectory of your hard drive. I assume this your C: drive. (example C:\Thumbs)
2. Copy all the .ithmb files into this folder.
3. Download the iThmbConv program file directly into this folder.
4. Now, on your pc desktop, go to Start, Run and enter cmd in the box. Hit okay.
5. When the black screen command prompt comes on, type cd.. at the end of the prompt line. Press Enter.
6. The next line should only show C:> If not, enter cd.. again to just show C:>
7. Now type *cd Thumbs* When you press enter, the next line should be C:Thumbs>
8. Assuming one of your .ithmb picture files is named T100. (They are all T and a number, so I'm using T100 as an example) Now type *iThumbConv T100.ithmb*
You should now see a few copies of your original .ithmb file in the Thumbs folder in a format that is viewable on your pc such as .jpg or whatever.
Repeat step #8 for each additional .ithmb file you want to convert. Then, you can ditch the the copies you don't need. -
Need help finding Driver type in the registry
Hi,
given a DSN(Data Source Name), I need to find the type of Driver it was assigned to in the Registry. pls help me to do this in java.
Thanks in advance,
RaoHi jschell,
Thanks for your response.
I would like to explain my actual problem clearly now.
I am working on an enterprise product where it has a setup screen in which it has a form with DSN and Database Type as the input fields. The database type could be either Oracle or MS SQLServer or MS Access.
so, instead of entering both (DSN and Database Type) into the form, I would like to enter only DSN in the form, and based on this DSN, I should know what is the corresponding Database Type.
Pls let me know how to do this without manually referring in the system.
thanks for ur help and time.

Need help with .asp Virtual Includes
Hi,
I am using;
Dreamweaver 8
Win XP Pro
IIS6
Virtual Directory Information in IIS:
Local Path: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\hseih
Application Name: hseih
Execute Permissions: Scripts Only
Configurations>Options>Enable Parent Paths: Checked
Read, Write, Browsing, Script Secure access, log visits,
index this source: All Checked
Dreamweaver Site Setup Information:
Local Root: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\hseih\
Links Relative to: Site Root
Server Model: ASP/VBScript
Access: Local/Nework
Testing Server Folder: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\hseih\
URL Prefix:
http://localhost/hseih/
Heres the code Im using in my index.asp file, where the
footer.asp file is in the same directory.
<!--#include virtual="/header.asp"--> or
<!--#include virtual="header.asp"-->
very simple, I believe I have everything setup correctly, and
it should work. But I receive:
Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0126 (0x80004005)
The include file 'header.asp' was not found.
/hseih/index.asp, line 10
However, it DOES work whenI add the root directory name into
the include path as follows:
<!--#include virtual="/hseih/header.asp"-->
its like there's a setup issue somewhere, where IIS is
misinterpreting the root of my site. When Im specifying to use the
Site Root, and also the use of the "/" in the include path - doesnt
that specify the root directory?
Any insight would be greatly appreciate.
Thanks!You web server configuration is what ultimately drives how
your site is set
up and how you navigate to all of your resources, whether
they be include
files, images, or what have you.
Right now, the *root* of your web site, according to your IIS
configuration,
is c:\inetpub\wwwroot. This translates into
http://localhost/. If you have
your "hseih" folder within wwwroot, then it's a virtual
directory, or
subfolder, of the root. In other words,
http://localhost/hseih/. So if
you
had a file in the "hseih" directory called "myfile.asp", then
the path to it
would be:
http://localhost/hseih/myfile.asp.
If, on the other hand, you reconfigure the web site in IIS to
use
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\hseih as the root of your web site as
described in the
configuration information I referred to earlier, the path to
that same file
would be
http://localhost/myfile.asp.
It's all a matter of telling IIS
where the start of your web site is.
The Local Root Folder config in the Local Info section of
your site
definition tells Dreamweaver where the files reside that
you'll be editing.
*Typically*, this lines up with the HTTP Address config in
the Local Info
section of your site definition. Not always, but most of the
time.
*Typically*, this also lines up with the URL Prefix in the
Testing Server
section of your site definition. Because you've got
http://localhost/hseih/
set up in the URL prefix *and* "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\hseih" set
up in the
local root folder everything is resolving correctly, because
technically
they're the same location. But, the thing to remember is
"hseih" is a
virtual directory within the site, it's not the root of the
site (which is
one level up from there).
Any configuration URL that you set in your Dreamweaver site
definition is
pretty much there to tell Dreamweaver where to find things
when it creates
your preview pages, and other similar tasks. It's mostly
there to make sure
it builds links and references correctly for those functions.
Once you have
a grasp on those two items and know where the separate of web
server and
design tools occur, it makes a lot more sense.
When you're working locally, which it sounds like you are,
things are
generally easier to configure because the local and remote
info are the
same. But when you begin working with outside web servers, it
can get more
complicated.
Best regards,
Chris

Dead Touchpad used 2 hours -Need help/repair
I bought a Touchpad in August 2011. I used it maybe 2 hours and tried to charge it and use it over Christmas. It will not power on. It appears to accept the charge when I plug it in but there is no screen when I turn it on. Can someone please tell me where I can get it repaired. I don't think there is much I can do to get it to work when it won't turn on at all. I gave it to someone for Christmas and was embarrassed when it did not turn on
Thanks,
Denny TwiggNot sure what you mean when you say that it seems to accept a charge when you plug it in. Does anything appear on the screen?
If the battery is bone dry, it will need several hours on a charger to collect enough juice to power on. Also, it needs to be plugged into a wall charger using the large "barrel" shaped a/c adapter that came with it. Untwist and then re-tighten the end of the adapter which comes apart. If still no juice after 4-5 hours, try another USB cable with the same a/c charger.
After several hours on a charger, try to Reset the device using the instructions in another thread here about resetting the TouchPad.

I have a big mess on my hands here and I need to figure out how to best resolve it.
Basically, I've got a lot of important content that I've been creating over the past several years, and I've transferred it from computer to computer as I've upgraded, and onto new hard drives as I've exceeded their capacities.
It was easy enough transferring files that were stored on storage-only disks, but certain applications store their data on your startup disk and/or in your user
account, so a lot of my stuff has been in those locations as well.
A few months ago, I had a few storage disks suddenly start dying, so I ended up copying the material from the failing drives to my startup disk to rescue the data before it was too late, and then my startup disk mostly ran out of safe VRAM space so I couldn't use it for web browsing or certain other tasks.
I didn't want to damage the disk my user account was on, so I migrated it to a 2TB drive and I've been using that since. However, not everything migrated correctly for some reason, so I've been treating that user account as a temporary account to use until I get the original transferred properly to a bigger disk. I've been working crazy hours at my job so I haven't had the time to focus on this, and now I've got new files and e-mails in the migrated account that I need to make sure I have in both versions of my user account.
I also have lots of files from a couple of older hard drives that were failing (which are different versions of each other), and some of the files are redundant.
So now I basically have two tasks to deal with here; make sure I have all the files from the old failing disks but without the redundant files, and make sure that my user account migrates properly with a bigger drive and all the new files and e-mails I've created since originally migrating it.
Does anyone have any advice for me? Is this specific enough?carbon copy cloner

Turns out there is a firmware update to that drive. Maybe it helps.
Toshiba (TSST) TS-L632* DVD Drive Firmware Update
You can reinstall the driver by uninstalling it in Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and rebooting.

G5 that just crashed. Monitor is showing just lines across it. I swithched monitors and had same screen so not a monitor issue. What do I try next?
I hope you have your original Install DVD?
Try repairing the hard drive:

(Safe Boot is easy and doesn't require the DVD)
Try Apple Hardware Test:
