Need help setting up a .mac email account-not .me

I just came home with a mac book pro today with one to one and mobile me, but I would like to create a [email protected] account. I can't figure it out at all. Please, tell me where to begin.
Thanks!

@mac.com are no longer available, this is ture. you would had to set this up prior to MobileMe going live. an existing @mac address is still valid today.

  • Need help setting up a new email account for my wife.

I've been trying to set up a separate email account for my wife with no success. I've gone to Preferences clicked the plus sign, it then asks for full name (my wifes'?) email address (would that be the one I pick for her or my email address?) and password- I'm assuming that's the password I use to get my email. It tells me it's checking connection to mail server and then says login to "POP failed".
    Thanks for the help.
    Richard

New email accounts should be created and set up first with your email service provider--contact them for information about how to do that. Just making up a new address and typing it into Mail's preferences doesn't create a new email account.
Edited to add: In addition, you probably want to establish a new user account for your wife on your Mac, so that you and she have separate folders and inboxes for your mail, once she has her own account set up. Separate user accounts also mean the two of you can have separate bookmarks on your browsers, separate document folders, and so on--almost as if you each had your own computer.

  • HT201320 NEED HELP TO SETUP MY MAC EMAIL ACCOUNT INTO MY IPAD

Could someone please assist me with setting up my .me email account into my new ipad3? Thank you

You cannot delete an iCloud account from the server, but you can remove it from your phone by going to Settings>iCloud and clicking 'Delete Account' (this does not remove the account from the server).
You should then go to http://icloud.com and delete any data there you want to, and then just ignore it.

Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account.  For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud).

  • Can I set up a Mac email account on my old Macbook and iPhone?

I have a Macbook 2.1 (2007 I think) running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with 2BG Ram, and an iPhone 4S. I would like to set up a Mac email account which will run and sync on both devices. Is this possible? I’d be grateful for any guidance.

Just to clarify, my understanding is that to use iCloud, I would need a Mac which can run Mountain Lion or higher. But my Macbook (as described above) is not capable of running Mountain Lion. Certainly the official Apple site says it's not.  I believe some people with similar spec Macbooks are successfully using Mountain Lion but I'd prefer not to try this if it slows my computer down. Unless someone persuades me it'll work fine, I'd prefer an email solution which I could use with Snow Leopard and the iPhone.
I have looked on the official Apple support site and elsewhere but I can't figure out whether it's possible to create some kind of Mac email account (@iCloud or @me?) which would work on my old Mac as well as on my iPhone 4S. I'd welcome any advice..

  • How do you set up a .mac email account in Outlook?

My .mac email address stopped working in Outlook (2010) on 4/30/12. Is this something to do with the new icloud? I reset my password, but that did not seem to help. I can log in to me.com still, but Outlook still does not recognize something and will not download msg's. Can I still set up an old .mac email account in Outlook? thx

I have a similar problem with my husband's PC.  I've finally got iCloud set up for him but Outlook doesn't recognize his iCloud user name/password and won't collect his mail.

  • How to set up additional mac email account?

If I have a mac email address already established, can I set up more than one on my iMac?  Seems like the answer is yes, but attempts this morning only bollixed my Mac mail account.

Keep trying that but it crashes. Obviously the 2nd account I tried to set up is creating a disconnect.  Answer my basic question first.  If I already have a mac /icloud email account established long ago, can I add/establish another mac email account, or do you just get one?

  • Need help setting up my work email

I'm new to Blackberry and need help with setting up my device to receive my work email (we use Outlook).  They use BES but since I purchased my Verizon Blackberry on my own, my workplace IT department will not assist me in setting it up.  Since the desktop redirector does not allow me to get attachments, that is pretty much not a great option.
We can obtain email through Outlook Web Access, so I tried setting it up through BIS based on other postings.   I've tried every combination of user/mailbox names, with and without the full domain name attached, but still getting the error, "A connection could not be established..."  I don't believe we have Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (no /CookieAuth.dll added to web address).  On the Web Access log-in page, I do have to select a domain from a drop-down menu, if that somehow plays a role in how I configure things??
Tried setting up a forwarding rule in Outlook, but it seems annoying that all the emails received from the device are from ME, and makes replying a bit painful.
    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks!

you can try integrating using POP or IMAP access if available.

  • How do I set up a POP email account (not an LDAP account)

When I try to establish a new email account with my COX provider, the mail program defaults to an LDAP account. LDAP doesn't seem to allow me to leave my messages on the COX server after I have read and deleted them on my MACBook. The POP protocol allows messages to be left on the server for a specific number of days
How do I force the account to be set up as a POP account?.

    Howdy Jerry,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to setup your COX email account as a POP account in Mail on your MacBook Pro, which is running OS X Mountain Lion. The first article will guide you to the Mail account configuration panes where you can make the change, but I recommend reading the other two articles linked below also because they will tell you more about the types of email accounts that Mail supports and ensure the accounts are setup in a way that won’t cause more issues in the future.
Mail (Mountain Lion): Send and receive mail for all your accounts
    Set up your accounts
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Mail, Contacts & Calendars.
Click an account type, enter your account information, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
Make sure the apps you want to use with the account are selected.
Mail (Mountain Lion): About account types
Mail settings you might need from your email provider
    I hope this helps.

  • Need help setting up a mac to mac network (2 machines)

First, I apologize for the cross posting, but this got no replies in the networking category.
I have a new mac mini and I'm struggling to setup a network with the mini that shows my old G5 dual 1.8. The old computer has two internal hard drives. I've turned on everything (file sharing, etc.) I can think of in both machines.
I have a Netopia wireless dsl modem/router. Setup was done painlessly via firewire and I could see all drives on the old computer while hooked up via firewire.
Switching over to ethernet only I am only able to see the superdrive on the G5. Not the hard drives, just the superdrive. The old machine is now hooked into the ethernet router.
How do I get the mac mini to see the other computer via ethernet? Is this a Bonjour thing, and if so, where do I find that application?
I am sure this must be an absurdly simple thing to do but I am puzzled why it worked via firewire and lost when hooked up via ethernet. This forum has been super helpful in the past so I'm turning here for help.
    Thanks

Connect to the other Mac by clicking on its icon under 'Shared' in the sidebar of a Finder window. The window will show you the Public Folders for the accounts on that Mac, and in tbe top right-hand corner is a 'Connect as...' button. Click that. In the pane which opens, click the radio button for 'Registered user', and enter the username and password for the user you want to access. You should be able to click 'Remember this password in my keychain' to save having to enter the details in future, but it's never worked for me.

  • I cannot set ip a POP email account (not POP3)

I have one e-mail account that still seems to be based on the POP protocol rather than POP3. I cannot get Thunderbird to accept a POP account, it only offers POP3 or IMAP, there is no other option, as a result I cannot access the account through Thunderbird, Outlook on the other hand has no problem. How do I resolve this issue?

re: I have one e-mail account that still seems to be based on the POP protocol rather than POP3.
Are you sure? POP3 is the current standard compliant and has been so for ages / years.
What settings are you using in Outlook:
    Incoming Server name : ?
    Port: ?
    Connections Security : ?
    Authentication Method: ?
What comes after the @ in your email address?
