Need help starting very troubled iBook
About a week ago I started having problems starting my iBook (it would get stuck on the Apple screen), and the few times I could get it to start up, it would lock up soon after. So I've already decided the end is near for it and I've upgraded to a MacBook.
However, I'd like to get on my iBook at least one last time to deuathorize a few programs and grab a few files. But now it's even worse than last week. Instead of getting stuck on the Apple screen, it just shuts down. I started it from a Techtool Pro CD, however that's got its own set of problems (probably part of a different discussion, but for whatever it's worth, it runs into problems with the SMART drive and surface scan, although it won't let me run any of the repair functions).
Anyway, now I want to run Disk Utility and see if that fares any better, but I can't figure out how to eject the Techtool Pro disk. I tried holding down the mouse button while restarting, but the computer shuts down before it gets a chance to eject. I also tried reseting the PRAM, but again it just shuts down shortly after the third chime. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try starting in Open Firmware and ejecting the diasc.
1. Restart the computer.
2. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-O-F.
Note: The Command key has the Apple and () icons on it.
3. Release the keys when you see a white screen that says "Welcome to Open Firmware."
4. At the prompt, type: eject cd
5. Press Return, then wait a few seconds. The disc drive should eject any disc that is present, and "ok" appears behind your command when the action is complete.
6. Type: mac-boot
7. Press Return.
Your computer should now start up normally.

I need help badly with my ibook and palm pilot
Good day. I recently fixed my ibook and my palm to sync with each other. I configured my palm to sync with entourage. I then realized that it would be much better that if I sync my palm pilot with the palm desktop. Gow do I now reverse this? I also have a Palm handheld. I use iCal and Address Book more than Entourage. This is what I did:
At first, I tried to adapt to Palm Desktop. I didn't like it, so I looked for the *iSync Conduit*. I found it and installed it. Then, I ignored the Palm desktop software (except the HotSync utility) and have used iSync with iCal and Address Book since.
I know that doesn't answer the question about switching from Entourage, but Desktop isn't that great either. iSync is what I recommend.

My iTunes doesnt work at all. When I click on iTunes, it doesnt open or anything. I have uninstalled it and then re-installed it many times, it didnt work. Because of my iTunes not working, i had no choice but to put my songs on manually using Rockbox [an alternative fw]..
And now i really need help, cause it is really annoying to put my songs on manually!

Updating Quicksilver: Need Help Starting Project
Hello fellows. Awhile ago I was able to purchase a used PowerPC G4 Quicksilver model from my former University for a very wonderful price of $40.
I've finally got around to wanting to updating it. I currently have an iMac which is less than a year old, but I've always wanted to update the old Quicksilver. So, I guess I need to know where to start and just what I can do for a few hundred dollars.
Here are the basic specs:

*CPU Type:* PowerPC G4 (2.1)
*Number Of CPUs:* 1
*CPU Speed:* 733 MHz

Things I know I can easily do are install a bit more RAM. Anywhere know where I could buy some that would work?
My friend said he could help me install a new CD/DVD drive that would allow me to read and burn DVD's. So, that shouldn't be too much of an issue. Any rec's on what to purchase?
Lastly, is there anyway possible that the processor could be upgraded? Intel? Is that even possible?

As for a HDD, I'm guessing the best thing to do would just be to install a second internal. Any suggestions? I don't think I'd go for anything more than 500 GB, and it would be where everything is stored, where the current would be the OS. Which currently, is OS X Tiger.

I need help starting a Terminal command at start-up to help silence CPU fan
I have a 24" iMac (Early 2009) and the CPU fan runs at full RPMs - NOTE: it is a refurbished model. I think that the person who did the refurbishing either messed up the CPU Temp Sensor or something, because the CPU temps are fine and the fan kicks on right after start-up chime.
Anyways, I have found a terminal command (see below) that, when used in conjunction with smcFanControl, will force my CPU fan to run at 1200 RPM. I need a way to either auto-launch this Terminal Command at start-up, or an easier way to launch it because having to type it out in Terminal every boot and reset is getting old.
Terminal Command:
/Applications/smcFanControl.app/Contents/Resources/smc -k F2Mx -w 3cf0

Construct this in your favorite text editor and save as plain text, not .rtf. Call the file anything you want, but here I'll call it slowfan.
In terminal type,
chmod +x /path/to/slowfan
where /path/to/slowfan is the path to the slowfan file. You could drag the file into the terminal after typing the chmod +x followed by a space. This step is only to mark the text file (script) as executable.
Now you can run Platypus and set up a simple app with admin privleges. Then test the app. If it works you can then add it to your login items.
If you decide to use applescript (do shell script descibed earlier) then you could just use the full pathname to whereever you saved the script and save that as a applescript application. Again test it and then add to your login items. I would bother adding an alias to .bash_profile. That just adds to the complextity.
As you can see, with Platypus you only have the single app it creates to deal with. The script is enclosed in the generated app bundle for easy updating if necessary later on. With the applescript method you will need to keep track of two spearate files; the applescript and the shell script. Actually three, the app too. -
Need Help Starting CSS Page Layout
Hi, I need a little help getting started in creating a CSS
layout page in Dreamweaver CS4. I am following a tutorial online
but I have run into a problem. What I am trying to do is get a
simple CSS layout started. Below I have listed my steps.
1) First I created a new .html page and named it "index.html"
2) Next, in the "Properties" panel I clicked the "CSS" button
3) I then selected the "Edit Rule" button and a window opened
called "New CSS Rule"
4) I then left all default settings and in the window where
it asked me for a name for my selector I typed in:
main_layout.css
Then I got this message below.
"Class names must start with an alphabetical character
preceded by an optional period. There should be no
spaces or additional punctuation."
What am I doing wrong? Can someone please tell me the correct
steps to start a CSS layout in DW CS4?

you define a
class in CSS you have to start the calss name with a period.
Plus they
cannot be a period after so...

Plug the iphone in and go to the music tab in the iphone,not your itunes library.There will be a button in the borrom right that says autofill. Click that and it should thransfer all your music. It worked for me,and i had the same problem.

I need help. Very bad service with subscriptions
I have the worst service. Nobody helps me.
I need to update my card to renew my subscription. I lost my membership 29.99 deal because I could not pay. Each time I do the process in the bank charges one dollar (allready 14 dollars), not a lot, but not good. I can not work.

There could be some issues with the international banking network for authorizing credit and debit cards that Adobe doesn’t have direct control over, but at least someone should be able to tell you what is happening, I’d think.
Your bank may only be “authorizing” a $1 charge, to test to see if there is money in a valid account. An authorization doesn’t actually move money anywhere, so the $14 may come back little by little as the time expires on each authorization after a few days. -

I have a program an application on my computer that I have written almost two years ago. In few words, it is a web based meeting scheduling tool. I used Tomcat Server to run this application and how it works, I start the application by typing http://localhost/Login.html, it gives me a page where I can log in or click on the registration link that woul take me to registration page. I want to mention that everything worked before an nothing has been changed but I just haven't started this app for almost 2 years and I know there is something that I need to do but I spent 2 hours trying to figure out an couldn do it. I started Tomcat server, I have all the classes in 'classes' folder of tomcat package, I have database set up. Now what comes to my mind is a problem somewhere in Admistrator tools and ODBC things. knowledge needed to solve this task I would be deeply grateful. I
am rather new with Adobe and Dreamworks, so it will not surprise me
if this question has a very obvious answer. I just cannot seem to
find it...
My problem is as follows; Im making a webpage with
Dreamweaver and I have a .html file that i would very mutch like to
publish within the Dreamweaver sheets.
What I have done is that I have made some workflow charts
with Visio, and saved them as .htm files. They now show perfectly
well in Mozilla, Explorer etc. What I want to do is to insert them
into the Dreamweaver sheets. Now im
just having them as images using screenshot. This is however
a bit cumbersome, since the workflowchart contains links to other
webpages I have made using Dreamweaver. Even minor changes means I
have to re-do a lot of work. This is no major problem to me, it
just seems to me as there should be a smoother and more elegant way
to do this?
From the Insert menu I can see that I can insert HTML, witch
is what I would like to do, but it seems my options there are
scarce? Or perhaps ive overlooked something?

So, you have a "Dreamweaver page" (that is actually a HTML
page that you
created in Dreamweaver. It is not a Dreamweaver exclusive
document)
And you have a Visio page that has been converted to HTML.
The rest is simple copy and paste. Open both pages. Switch to
code view.
Towards the top of each page, you should find a <body>
tag and towards the
bottom a closing </body> tag.
On the Visio page, highlight everything between these tags
(do not include
the tags) and select copy (Edit/copy or ctrl+c).
On the Dreamweaver page locate the place you want to put the
workflow
information and select paste (edit/paste or ctrl+v)
Done.
If you are not sure about the insert location, switch your
Dreamweaver page
to design view, locate your cursor in the place you want,
then switch to
code view and insert at the cursor location.
The next task will be figuring out how to make changes
without replacing the
entire file each time. But that will be for a new post.

four methods: constructor method - initialize all fields and calculates the value for the average field
calculateAverage()
toString() - returns a String representation of a Student which includes the name, ID, and average only.
equals() - excepts another Object, typecasts it to a Student and returns true if the two Students have the same ID and returns false otherwise.
Driver Class: create an array of five students. Read the data in from a text file which is field delimited by spaces. The file will contain the name, id and three scores for five students. The average is a calcualted field. Print each student's info on the screen using the toString() method for the students.
