Need help synching hotmail between new macbook pro and iphone.
Hi,
I have an iphone and now have a new macbook pro. My hotmail does not synch between the two. Called apple support and they couldn't help me. Stated I needed to load imap vs pop and had to get hotmail support. Found this link and followed instructions to make change on macbook in my apple email. http://mac.tutsplus.com/tutorials/productivity/how-to-set-up-outlook-com-using-i map-in-apple-mail-or-microsoft-outlook/. Deleted Pop acct.
It appears to still not synch with phone. Turned phone off/on. What else do I need to do?

It's not necessary to change your Apple ID often - maybe your password every six months or so, but not the email associated with the ID.

I always suggest going to monoprice.com for cheap priced and good quality cables, adapters, aother videio/audio realated hardware.years.

Mail malfunctioning in different ways between iMac, MacBook pro and iPhone
I yesterday purchased an iMac from a friend and under her recommendation installed OS ML on both it and my MacBook Pro.
Now mail and the syncing between the three is being completely whacky; it works fine on my MacBook pro, on my iPhone i have emails from the last two days then it skips to emails from 2010, on my iMac on the other hand, all the emails appear to be fine in the subjects, but then the contents of the email are completely screwed up, for instance in the body of an Email from the iTunes store with the title 'Your Receipt ####' will actually have the contents of an email a friend sent me in 2007 ?!
What is going on? Also I am really unsavvy so I have no idea if this is something I did??
HELP!!Too much going on here to understand. You should break this down into the mail issues for each device and then separately for sycing. Are you using POP email, Exchange, other? How are you syncing? - iCloud, Exchange?
If I had to guess and you are using POP, seems like the iMac had corruption in the mail database either before or during the ML update. I believe ML Mail makes changes to the database the first time it runs. Do you have a backup? You may be able to try again or restore from there.
To understand the sync issue you need to provide more information. -
I will be getting my new MBP 13" tomorrow according UPS tracking. This is my first Mac been a PC Guy for years. Finally take the dive to get the first mac laptop. Since the 13" unibody pro came out I like it so much.
Anyway I have been using the iPhone since the first generation. Also update to the new iPhone 3GS. My question is how I do sync the iPhone with new MBP that still retain all the Text Messages and Apps.
I don't care that much about music, I can manually transfer from current laptop to the MBP. My major concern are my "Text Messages" even the Apps I can redownload from the Appstore.
Can you please walk me through step by step for all the procedure. Sorry I am a Mac virgin.

How do I airdrop between a macbook pro and iphone 5c?
Is this still the case, or has the latest update for IOS and OS X (announced on WWDC in 2 June 2014) enabled file sharing between Iphone and Mac via Airdrop?
When I open Airdrop in Finder on my Macbook pro (2013), it keeps searching for devices, but does not recognise my iphone 5s (on which wifi, bluetooth and airdrop are on). Any way to fix this?

hi.. i'm about to buy a new macbook pro and i need some pros and cons of SSD.... i'm not sure which is really better, the regular hard drive or the SSD... because if i buy the mac with SSD it would be the 128GB, so i want to know how would that affect the overall performance of the computer...
Thanks!I would suggest that you purchase the SSD through a third party source. You will save money that way.
Regarding the performance, go to the OWC web site. They have bench tested their SSD vs conventional HDD and have published the results for anyone to see,
The difference between the 128GB and the 256GB drives is capacity, no practical change to performance.

I have just opened my brand new Macbook Pro and I'm a first time mac user. I have tried to download flash to enable me to watch youtube clips, but on trying to download it, it says I need to close Safari but after doing so, it still won't respond. Any tips? Help?
Actually you need to quit Safari which is different from closing. With Safari open go the menu bar for Safari/Quit Safari.

I just bought a new macbook pro and my CS6 migrated, but now when I open existing documents, it launches a free trial version. There doesn't appear to be a way to enter my serial number or communicate that I simply have a new computer. HELP! There is no customer support for this. I can't believe what a poor service company Adobe is!!
The problem was that you migrated CS6. Unfortunately, migration doesn't work because it doesn't move all the files.
First, you'll need to use the Adobe Cleaner Tool to remove the components that were installed:

I have the G Drive 1 TB (GEN4 1TB) external drive purchased in 2010. I need to connect to my new MacBook Pro. I'm using the external drive for media storage of my video editing projects. Will a 800fw to thunderbolt adapter cable work? I understand that using a USB port connection is not fast enough for video editing. I read somewhere the G Drives don't connect well to MacBook Pro.

Can you afford a new Thunderbolt case and cable? any case with FW800 is going to be slow 72MB/sec and less, and any new 1TB drive is capable of 75MB/s minimum up to 125MB/sec.
Thunderbolt storage can of course when setup properly reach 100's of MB higher using multiple drives.
Use what you have for a system backup or for secondary backup storage.
you might be able to take the drive - most cases allow you to open and swap drives - and use this:

I have a license for CS6 on my MacBook Pro. I want to purchase an iMAC and be able to do my heavy duty Photoshop processing on this new iMAC when I am at home I need to keep CS6 on my MacBook Pro and use it when I travel. How can I have copies of CS6 on both machines. I am the only user of this software.
You can install and activate CS6 on both machines perfectly legally.

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and I tried to load FCP Studio on it and it says it does not support it. I use FCP Studio 2 and I need to use it as I don't know FCP X. Any suggestions. I currently have FCP Studio 2 on a 2008 Mac Pro with Maverick on it.
Thanks, GaleFinal Cut Studio 2? That's 8 years old...4 OS versions ago. Mavericks doesn't take FCP 7 into account, much less FCP 6. In fact, to even install FCP 6 onto the PREVIOUS OS, Mountain Lion, you had to hack the terminal, or install Pacifist and do some shenanigans to get it to recognize the installer.
In short, it's very difficult to get older, discontinued software to work on new computers with new OSs. If you need to use FCP 6, then you need to stick to older computers and OS's that run it.
It is on your 2008 MBP because, no doubt, you upgraded the OS around the already installed apps. I'm not sure how well it will work. -

It would be a whole lot cheaper getting an adapter (as needed) and cable and simply pluggin it in when you're in the kitchen. -
Wonder if anyone can help? Have just bought a new Macbook pro and installed FCP7. I thought that I would get quicktime pro as standard but stuck with QTX. Downloaded QT7 but it won't let me install it. Says I can't do install as I already have QTX. Does FCP not come with QTpro or am I jsut being stupid. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. B
