NEED HELP TO SET UP SMALL NETWORK - WIRELESS SIGNAL FROM NOVATEL U760 USB

Hello -
I need help setting up a small network in my new home in Florida, which has no wired broadband capability - not cable, not dsl. My options are satellite (which I'd like to avoid) or wireless broadband via Millenicom (or now Virgin Mobile) using their Novatel U760 USB stick.
Here are the network components - someone please tell me how to set this up:
PC #1 (has wireless card, but I've connected it by ethernet to the router)
PC #2 (no wireless card; connected via ethernet to router)
MACBOOK, 1 1/2 years old (2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs RAM), running OS 10.58, connected wirelessly to router.
AIRPORT EXTREME BASE STATION, Model A1143.
I'm not thrilled about using a wireless 3G signal as my primary one, (sprint network, claims 600 - 1400 kbps speed), but it costs 1/2 to 1/3 of what a slightly faster satellite signal would.
I have not ordered this service yet. Before I do, I'd like a clear understanding that I can, in fact, set up my simple network, which I'd probably do the same as it's now configured with cable broadband - both PC's plug via
ethernet into the Airport Extreme router, the MacBook connects wirelessly - AND,
my question is this:
Can I plug the wireless card - a Novatel U760 USB-stick device - straight into that USB slot in the Airport Extreme base station and will it automatically recognize that device?
Or, do I have to plug it into the MacBook and somehow share that wireless signal between the 2 PC's (only 1 of which has a wireless card, so I'd have to get a card for PC #2)?
And help anyone can provide will be much appreciated!

from the Airport FAQ #14:
"Question: Can I connect my Soundsticks or other USB speakers to AirPort Express?
Answer: No. The USB port is for connecting a printer, not for other devices."
Im assuming other devices include USB modems.
So, I would say your cheaper route would be to get a second wireless card and just share your internet connection from one of your PC.

My network is based on 2 hubs:
Room 1 - Main Hub
Phone socket (where line enters my house)
Modem
WRT610N router
Homeplug connected by ethernet cable to router
Room 2 - Media Centre
Homeplug

Room 2 includes a NAS and media streamer wired to the DG834G, which as I understand it still need to talk via the WRT610N. I'd like to upgrade my network further and remove the weakest point (currently Homeplugs) and therefore improve connectivity between hub 1 and 2. In upgrading, I want everytthing to have gigabit ethernet ports, but for the 2 hubs to be connected only via wireless link (wired link may be possible in long term, but not at present).
I have already taken the step of purchasing a 2nd WRT610N, but am now unsure if the link can be established between the 2 of them without using a cable connection. Does anyone know if/ how this can be achieved, or do I need to buy something else?

Linksys firmware does not have feature to make the router work as an wireless access point.You can try the dd-wrt firmware.For more information about that,you can visit www.dd-wrt firmware.
You have two alternative here..First is Wireless Bridge(WET610N),which will communicate with the router wirelessly and it it will provide the LAN Connection further.You can connect a switch to the bridge and all other devices hard-wired to the bridge to get connection...However,it will not give you the Wireless Signal.
The Seconds alternative in my opinion is an Access Point(WAP4410N)...Which will receive the wireless signal from your router and will repeat the signal wirelessly to your Wireless devices if set in a Repeater Mode.

I need help in setting up a wireless connection.
I have a 2005 iMac G5 and currently I am using a Qwest DSL Modem with a Belkin router.
Qwest suggested that I buy a new wireless modem/router. It may be the Motorola 3347 or another wireless modem. I am worried about security when on the internet and have read about changing the SSID password and use the WPA for encryption. All of this is a mystery to me.
Also, I would like to buy from Directv the Linksys wireless adapter to use on my HD-DVR receiver to get their “On Demand Movies.”
My question is, does my iMac G5 have all of the security I need to use a wireless modem, and with the Linksys adapter can I view my photos or DVD’s in iMovie wirelessly to my TV in the living room?
I am concerned about security with a wireless setup, but it seems that all of the new TV’s have the ability to have a wireless connection to the internet.
Any suggestions would help me.

Your images are not stored in the catalog. They are stored in folders on your computer. you can't. the extreme is only a router. you need a separate modem (or disable the wireless part of your old router and use it as a modem - if that's possible).

... Anyway, iPads don't have printers directly set up. You might interface with a printer over a WiFi. That could be done either using Apple's AirPrint (if the printer is new enough) or maybe you have Epson's iPrint utility.
If you have the iPrint utility, you simply open the utility, click the "maintenance" button in the lower left, and select the "Printer" on the top and set it up there.

How does Websense expect your source IPs in the tunnel? 192.168.8.0 0.0.3.255 or PAT'ed 216.222.208.101 ?

Go up to the top of your screen on iTunes and click on 'Store'. Then go down to 'Authorize This Computer'. That should cover part of it unless you've already authorized a bunch of other computers to use your account. If that's the case, you'll have to go to one of those computers and click the button just below it to 'deauthorize your account' from that computer. If you're not able to access the store, check your internet connection to make sure you are connected. Hope this helps.. good luck!

Powerbook G4 Can't "See" Wireless Signal from Ubee Modem/Router

I was given a G4 Powerbook while out of town and it found the wireless signal in an apartment complex and a major airport just fine. But upon returning home it can't "see" the signal from my (Time Warner, Road Runner Extreme) Ubee modem/router. My Mac Mini's Airport sees the Ubee wireless signal fine, but the older Powerbook G4 can't. (The Airport signal in the menu bar has "bars" but they are grayed out.
Can an older G4 connect with the newer Ubee modem/router? Are there security settings that will allow this?

CRMDVM -- Thanks for the helpful info -- you are probably right on both counts:
The apartments where I picked up a signal is in an "old folks" apt. complex, meaning the router I was picking up was probably old -- compatible with the G4 lineage. And the Atlanta airport probably has a wireless system to allow the vast number of old and new computers that people carry to connect.
My Mac Mini connects via WPA2 Personal security code, and I set the G4 to the same security (in the Network preference pane) but still nothing. The Airport wireless icon in the menu bar is still grayed out -- it isn't the "blank" icon as when Airport is turned off. It has the wireless wave lines in the icon, but just grayed out.
Maybe the G4 is just too old to "see" the newer wireless signal from the new modem/router.
Thanks again for your help -- you definitely provided more than I knew. (btw, I'm just above you in Union County in Stallings).

I moved the printer and it doesn't receive the wireless signal. Does the printer need to be attached to my computer for it to receive a wireless signal from another computer?

Do you use access point (AP) for your network ? The printer needs to be close to the AP, not computer(s). One option is to have a booster/amplifier but this costs money and time.
