Need help updating camera raw in CS4

I had CS4 installed on a computer that crashed several months ago.  I then installed it on my laptop but have not been able to get camera raw to update.  When I try to, it says I need to close Bridge and try again, but I don't have Bridge or Photoshop open when I am trying to do the updates.  Any suggestions??  TIA

  • Need help updating Camera Raw for d600.

I have PSE 11 and have turned off my firewalls and still cannot get a Camera Raw update newer than 7.1. I have a d600 and it wont work through that. I know it can be done since I wasnt having this problem before I had to restore my computer and reload my software. I have searched Adobe up and down and everything says to us Help>updates...but its not giving me the option to update. Can anyone help...or send me the file.
    Thanks, Katy

Officially, you are not suppose to update your PSE11 and that is why Adobe is not allowing you to update the product by going to Help >> Updates.
However, this does not mean you can't.  You can always update your product manually provided you have the basic knowledge of Windows file folders and how to rename, browse and delete old files.  Having said this, to update your PSE11 to the latest version of Camera Raw 8.3.0.141, you can do this:
    1) Download the update file from this link:
    <http://swupdl.adobe.com/updates/oobe/aam20/win/PhotoshopCameraRaw8-8.0/8.3.52/setup.zip>
    2) Unzip the downloaded file to your desktop
    3) Browse the unzipped folder and double-click on the file called: "AdobePatchInstaller.exe".  You might get a prompt to close PSE11 if it is open, so close it and press "Continue" button.
    4) Wait for about a minute until PSE11 is updated.
    5) now launch PSE11 and from Photo Editor, go to Help >> About Plug In >> Camera Raw
    6) you should see something like in this picture:
Good luck but post back if your system did not update automatically.  Windows XP, and Windows Vista does not update automatically using this method so there is another method you need to try.  Post back anyway to let us know.

  • I have Adobe photoshop cs5. need to update camera raw, cause my camera raw is  2010and does not read my camera,  I went out and downloaded the new one and it does not link to adobe photoshop cs5

I have moved my Photoshop CS5 to my traveling computer,a Surface Pro 3.  I have photoshop loaded but in trying to look at raw images it says my camera raw does not support the sony alpha 65 which is what I have.  I went out and tried to download the newest raw version and even went out and did a zipfile download and it will not update my current version.  What should I do

I have 6.0.  Tried to download newest verion and it will not download.  Went out and then downloaded a zipfile and it still will not download, thus cannot look at my raw pictures.

  • Need help installing Camera Raw Presets from DVD

I got the NAPP Goodies DVD and I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.  It says to put them into Library-Application Support-Adobe-CameraRaw-Settings...  When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folder in there is CameraProfiles.  I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.  I updated CameraRaw and still no settings folder.  I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.  I am using CS3 specifically Photoshop and Bridge. I do not have Lightroom.
Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that? Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?
    Thanks for your help

The correct location (on Mac–since you don't bother to spec your OS) is:
    User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings
All user level stuff will always be in the User folder. Root level stuff goes in the root level/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw folder.

  • Running CS4, (OS X), need to update camera Raw plug in to atleast 6.7...?help?

just updated my camera from Olympus E3 to the Olympus OMD EM5,  I have downloaded all updates available, and the download for the plugin 6.7 was succesful, but the installation gives me a failed message. Can I do the new raw plugin in CS4, or do i have to actually update my CS? Or am I missing something.... Thanks!
    Kate

There is really no upgrade path to photoshop cs6, since cs4 is too old, but there is an upgrade path to photoshop cc. however that is a subscription license instead of a perpetual license like you have for cs4.
    Creative Suite 6
Download Photoshop CC by joining Creative Cloud today | Adobe Photoshop CC
Camera raw 6.7 does work with photoshop cs5, but adobe doesn't sell photoshop cs5 any longer.
Other options would be Adobe Lightroom 5.4 or Apple Aperture, both of which are camera raw processing software.
Download Photoshop Lightroom photo software | Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
Also, there is Olympus Viewer 3
The dng converter can output dngs using both loseless or lossy compression

  • Trouble updating Camera Raw on CS4

After a computer re-installation, I'm trying to get my Olympus E-620's raw files working again with Photoshop CS4.  After some research (and failed attempts), I found I can use Adobe Camera Raw versions up to 5.7.  I downloaded the update and it the CameraProfiles application appeared to successfully install, but my plug in version remains 5.0.0.178 and my raw files won't open (wrong file type errors).  Windows 7 64 bit.  I'd prefer not to use the digital negative converter but did get it successfully installed (haven't tried it yet).  Thank you!

I found the files quickly enough and tried the replacement you suggested.  It took a little fussing but I eventually found the one I needed.  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats.  I ended up removing the old file from the folder since windows makes it difficult to actually change the extension of a file (I can rename it to Camera Raw.old but it remains an 8bi file extension).
I can now load my files.  Thank you!  I have shot a large project at high ISO (out of necessity due to lighting conditions) and I will need all the help I can get to get the noise reduced.

  • Need help installing camera raw 4.6

hi, i have cs3, vista, just bought a nikon d700 and can't open my pictures in adobe bridge anymore. I shoot in raw...i tried uploading the 4.6 update and am having a VERY difficult time, is anyone available to help me or walk me through steps....i've been struggling for a few hours....thanks!!!

The easiest way to install it should be to go to the Photoshop Help menu, select Updates, and follow the instructions in the dialog boxes. That will download and install it for you.
If you want to try to install it manually, follow these steps:
    1. Exit Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
    2. Open My Computer.
    3. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
    4. Navigate to:
    (Please read directory carefully)
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
    5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
    6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in,
Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 4.
    7. Launch Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Bridge.
NOTE: If generic camera thumbnails appear in Adobe Bridge, follow the these steps:
    1. Check to make sure the plug-in was installed in the correct directory in step 4 above.
    2. Start Bridge.
    3. Choose Tools > Cache > Purge Central Cache.
Important: Purging the Central Cache deletes cached thumbnail information for all folders. It also deletes labels, ratings, and rotation settings for read-only files (for example, files on a CD or locked files) or file formats that don't have XMP support.

  • CS4 / camera raw 5.0.0.178 / 5dmiii - is it possible to update camera raw on cs4 for use w 5dmiii?

    Hello,
I have CS4 (I know, I know behind the times) and use Camera Raw 5.0. I've just gotten the 5dmiii and Camera Raw won't read the files.
I tried to download the raw update as per this page:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2012/03/raw-support-in-lightroom-and-camera-raw.ht ml
But I realize this is only for CS5 and it is of course not working for me.
Is there a way to update CS4 to make it work with the 5dmiii? I would like to avoid purchasing cs5 or cs6 right now and stick with cs4.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the recommendation on the PS forum - I've posted there.
I still believe that your tone and judgment, noting that my question is "utterly ridiculous," is unnecessary and regrettable on a public forum where I'm asking a technical question.
Nonetheless, still hope that your not-bad-day continues to be not-so-bad, or perhaps even gets a bit better.

  • Need help installing camera raw plug-in for Photoshop CS6

I have a Raw photo that won't open in my Photoshop CS6. The error message and online documentation say the same thing...They recommend going under Help > Updates and following the instructions. Problem is, "Updates" is not actually a choice under the Help menu.
I tried downloading the file directly, but it doesn't launch and installer and I'm not sure what to do with the file.
Any ideas? Where can I go or what can I do to get this plug-in installed?

  • Need help with Camera Raw Plug In! PLEASE!

When trying to update the Camera Raw 6.7 update, I get error U44M2I218. I cannot open my RAW images to edit. Any ideas?

What method are you using to update? Did you try a manual install?
ON EDIT: Scratch that. Derp. I love rushing around. That was for Camera Raw 8.8. : /

  • Need help installing Camera Raw plug in

I recently had to reinstall CS5 and now I can no longer convert my raw files to DNGs when I download through Bridge and I can not find the right plug in, all I get is the separate DNG converter. Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks.

Not without knowing what platform you are on, Mac or Win.
Look at that offered download again.  Often, the ACR plug-in are bundled together in a single download,

  • Photoshop CS6 won't update camera raw 7.1

I selected "Edit in Photoshop CS6" on a photo in Lightroom, and it told me I needed to update Camera Raw in Photoshop.  Being unable to update directly from Photoshop, I downloaded the update from Adobe.  Upon running the installer (as an administrator) I am told to "Please contact your Administrator if you wish to apply updates on your machine.  Updates have been suppressed by the Administrater."  As the dialogue then suggests, I am now contacting customer support (sort of).
I am running CS6 on Windows 7.  Thanks for any help!

This is a duplicate thread.  Please your other one.

  • Updating Camera Raw from within Photoshop CS6

I recently added an iMac to my photo processing system, and I'm not yet really familiar with it, so I don't understnad this problem:
I downloaded Photoshop CS6, including Camera Raw 7, with no problem and it's installed and working fine on the iMac.
But when I tried to work on a file from my new Nikon D600, I got the message that Photoshop couldn't open the file and that I needed to update Camera Raw. It told me to use the Help>Update selection in Photoshop in order to update to the latest version.
Okay, I tried that, but got the message: "Update Failed. Update could not be applied. You are already running the Adoabe Application Manager, please close all instances of Adobe Application Manager before applying updates."
Well, as far as I can tell, it was using Help>Update that launched the Application Manager. There were no other "instances" (whatever they are) of Application Manager in use, as far as I know.  Further, I can't remove Application Manager from my computer by dragging its icon to the trash.
What am I doing wrong? I really want to have the latest version of Camera Raw so that I can work on D600 NEF files directly without having to convert them to DNG.
    Help ?!
    Thanx.

  • Updated Camera Raw File for CS2 / Canon Powershot G10

I am still using Photoshop CS2, but unfortunately I need the updated Camera Raw file (v5.6) for use with the Canon Powershot G10, and it appears the unless I upgrade to CS4 I won't be able to view any RAW files shot with this camera.
Is there an updated Camera Raw version for the Powershot G10 that is still supported under CS2?
    Thanks!

ACR 5.4 was released last night and it requires CS4.  That is the latest and current version of Camera Raw.
5.6 probably won't appear until next year.
If you download the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 5.4, you can convert the raw files from your camera to raw DNG files you can then open in ACR 3.7 hosted by CS2.
