Need help updating software on iPhone 3GS!
Everytime I try to update my iPhone software to the iOS 5 version it gives me an error message at the end of my download that say my connection has timed out and the software couldn't be downloaded at that time. If anyone has a solution to this problem please help me.
Try temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed.

It was probably hacked or jailbroken to unlock it. Updating iOS in that case, can brick the phone.

ok, I don't get something. Everytime itunes updates their software, we have to update ours ipods? well, I lost all my stuff twice and want to stay on top of it this time. But, last time I updated my ipod, it had nothing on it. I was starting from scratch (for the third time) Now I don't want to do anything wrong. Can someone help me walk through the steps of updating my stuff?

It depends on the iOS version currently installed.

So I've had my iPhone now for a few days and I like it, but thee are some issues on it that I have not ben able to resolve.
Just a comment, I thought that the iPhone could play MIDI files that most of the mobiles phones can play today for ring tones.
Now to my issues.
If I receive an MMS with an audio clip with the .amr extension, is the iPhone not able to play that?
Since I am not able to do it.
Also, my mail provider use TLS for incoming connection to the mail server and iPhone doesn't seem to support th.

The iPhone uses .m4r format for ringtones. Google ehow iPhone ringtones to learn how to make your own.

If you are in the US, MMS is not available yet.

I'm not familiar with TLS and just use Gmail on the iPhone. -

What are you trying to accomplish?
Iphones support bluetooth for stereo speakers/headsets, hadsfree telephone devices/headsets, some peer-to-peer apps from the app store, some keyboards and internet tethering where provided by the carrier.
Other than this it will not connect to another phone/device/computer.
File transfer is not supported at all. -

since installing the latest update on my iphone 3gs this afternoon whatsapp now says it cannot access my photos. I have gone to settings-location services- but whatsapp is not listed in the list below. Please help!!!!
Contact Whatsapp for support.
There is no logical expectation for Whatsapp to be listed under location services or for that to have any affect on what the app can access. -

Well, you don't absolutely have to have it ... but ...
First of all, here's what you would be missing (I assume you're talking about upgrading from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6):

Secondly, as additional upgrades become available, you'll fall farther and farther behind.
Thirdly, as apps are updated, you may lose out on the ability to run them, and you will lose out on added features.
So, it's not mandatory that you upgrade, but I strongly suggest striving to do so. -

I need help, I pluged my iphone to itunes and got a message that said there was an update to download and update, I did but when itunes was rebooting and updating I got an error message. and now the phone is telling me that it cant be activated, to plug it in to itunes or to contact support care.
That message usually indicates that your phone was hacked to unlock it from the original phone carrier, then when you updated or restored it locked back to that carrier.

Place your iPhone in manual recovery mode or DFU mode.
1. Connect your iPhone
2. Open iTunes
3. Hold down the home and power button for 8 seconds. After 8 sec, let go of the power but still hold down the home button until iTunes recognize your phone in recovery mode
