Need help upgradeing from DW 3

I just upgraded from DW 3 to CS3 and I need to convert my
site definition files which are DWS files in DW 3 to the STE files
that CS3 uses. I used MM-exporter to save the data from DW 3.Can
anyone help me get this done?

How many sites? I think you will have to just recreate the
definitions.

  • Need help upgrading from iPhoto 2... keep photo comments?

I currently have iPhoto 2 that originally came with my eMac. I have recently upgraded the operating system to the 10.4.11. I have tons of photos in iPhoto 2. Ultimately, this has slowed down the response time when working in iPhoto.
I am trying to figure out how the comments that I write for each photo stays with the photo after I back it up to my external hard drive, iBook? Or, how can I keep the comments to the photo when I email the photos?
After doing some research, it looks like I need to upgrade to a current iPhoto to be able to do this. Is this correct? Will a current iPhoto version keep the comments with that photo when saved or sent elsewhere? What is the best way to upgrade and how do I go about doing this?
Is there anyway to backup the photos on disc with the comments included? Or, can the comments be printed out to a thumbnail size of each photo for record keeping?
I hope you can HELP with this "photo comments" dilemma... Thanks.

Did you try repairing permissions yet? Just because you have a fresh install of Mac OS X doesn't mean everything is as it should be. And you may not know that the mail format changed from 10.4 to 10.5, so you should try rebuilding your Mail index like this:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. Go to ~/Library/Mail and delete the Envelope Index file(s).
    3. Restart Mail, wait for it to import your existing messages, then check to see if you have access to your older mail from 10.4.

  • Need help upgrading from Lion 10.6.8 to Lion 10.7.2.

I want to upgrade from Lion 10.6.8 to Lion 10.7.2 in order to use iCloud that is on my other devices.  The software updater on my Mac says there are no updates available.  What to do to get the latest OS?

10.6.8 is Snow Leopard, not Lion. Lion is 10.7.x. Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. The installed version will be shown in the display window.
If you are running 10.7 or 10.7.1 you can download the OS X Lion Update 10.7.2 Client Combo.

  • Need help upgrading from Mail 2.1.3 to 3.5

I just upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5. I bought a new disk to install 10.5 on and have the old disk with 10.4 in a USB enclosure. I do not want to use the migration assistant because I'm trying to start with a completely fresh system (first time since 10.0).
I thought importing my mail would be as simple as copying ~/Library/Mail (which is about 3GB) and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist but it doesn't seem to want to work.
After copying, I start up mail and it asks me if I want to upgrade my mail database. I click continue and a short time later it says its finished. All of my folders and mailboxes appear, but they are empty.
At this point, mail will not quit, although the application does not appear to be frozen or busy. Command-Q causes the file menu to flash but nothing happens. If I force quit it and restart it, the mail viewer will not open, nor will Mail.app quit.
My next plan was to try and boot back into 10.4 and see if there was some way to export my mail from 2.1.3.... before I attempt to do that, does anyone have any other suggestions?

  • Problem/NEED HELP: upgrade from CS5 standard to CS 5.5 design premium

I specifically upraged to the design premium version to get the photoshop extended w/repousse and 3d. I've installed it and there is no extended version  installed. I need this function by Monday. Any help out there? I've tried some of the install troubleshooting, but they just don't answer this question.

Well, does your computer actually support the required features? Is OpenGL enabled in PS? If not, you can't do anything with 3D. OpenGL support is mandatory. If it doesn't work you can try to update your graphics driver, but otherwise there is no way to enforce it. Also did you uninstall your Design Standard before installing Premium? if it's still using the old serioal number, then the features wouldn't show up in PS, eitehr.

someone gave me an ipod touch the ios version on it is 3.1.3 how do i upgrade it???

    To update
The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.
Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes as far as your iPod model allows
iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
A 1G iPod can go to iOS 2.2 via iTunes and iOS 3.1.3 via

A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. If a Mac it requires OSX 10.5.8 or later. With OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1
A 3G to 5.1.1  Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later
A 4G to 6  Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. For a Mac, that requires a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later

I need really simple instructions as I've had a bad run with my laptop the last month.
I have re-installed iTunes,it currently has no content in it
all my music, photos etc had been saved to a an external Hardrive (phew)so I'm not concerned about losing them during a sync, but how do I sync my Ipad without losing the applications... The last back up saved was in June when I still had an ipad1

    Thanks

This should help you out. I copied this from another discussion a while back. Here is the original discussion link.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
This is what is in the discussion. It really doesn't get any easier than this.
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.

Prior to upgrading to Maverick, you must FIRST make sure your iMac meets all of its system requirements.

  • HT201250 I need to upgrade from OS X 10.6.8 to 10.7 or higher to install turbotax. What do you recommend I install?

I need to upgrade from OS X 10.6.8 to 10.7 or better in order to run TurboTax. My iMac is about 4 years old with limited space. To what do you recommend I upgrade?

    Hello kparker2112,
I understand you would like information on upgrading your operation system. The link below will help you determine if your computer meets the requirements for the current version of OS X, which is Yosemite. I would highly recommend backing up your data before upgrading any version of OS X:

If I upgrade will I loose the ability to use these programmes or can I still run classic. Help someone.......also I am not completely confident so be gentle....I need clear answers. Please help.

    Hi.
If your machine meets the system requirements for Tiger, then you can install it.
Tiger supports the Classic environment (runs OS 9.2.2), so you'll be able to use your classic programs.
    Good Luck.

  • Need help getting from 10.5.8 to 10.6.

need help getting from 10.5.8 to 10.6.  i know i'm late to the game!

If you are not sure of what you are doing,If you are worried about losing anything when doing a major systems upgrade/update,
Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Older version of CarbonCopyCloner found here.
    http://mac.filehorse.com/download-carbon-copy-cloner/2734/
Older versions of SuperDuper can be found on the SuperDuper Website and Homepage.
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard system requirements
    Purchased Installer disc here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
To install Snow Leopard for the first time, you must have a Mac with:
    An Intel processor
An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing
At least 1 GB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended)
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
At least 5 GB of disk space available, or 7 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools.
In addition, see this discussion for more relevant info that you may need if you have any other questions or issues.

There is no download; you need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD.

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Other countries...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...
    Next...
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion
With Regard to ML...  Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using... Also note that Rosetta is no longer supported in Lion and Mountain Lion...
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
You should also consider more RAM... Get the Maximum you can for your Mac...
It is important to get the Correct and Matching RAM
    See Here  >  OWC RAM  >  http://www.macsales.com
The above site also has videos on how to Install RAM should you need it...
