Need help uploading photos

I have been unable to upload photos from iphoto. All I get is the event titles! I need help...

Yes, it's possible to use both, but not that way. That command  will make duplicates of all your iphoto images, so you don't want to do that.
For now, you have two choices.
1. Set PSE as your external editor in iphoto ( iphoto>preferences>advanced):
and send the photos from iphoto to PSE. If you set the PSE editor preferences>saving files>on first save to save over the existing file, iphoto will remember you latest edits + the original.
If you do this, be sure to choose the right file as your editor. You want this one, in Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 11>Support Files:
Or
2. You can export the photos from iphoto, use File>Open in the Editor, edit and save your changes and then reimport them to iphoto as new images. The advantage of this is that you can change the name and format if you want and you can save as many versions as you like. iPhoto only keeps one version--if you edit again, the new version replaces the one it was keeping.

  • Need help uploading photos from iPhone to Macbook Pro?

So say I took a lot of photos on the iPhone, then I created several albums that contain a substantial amount of photos too. When I uploaded photos to the Mac using iPhoto, I noticed that all the photos got put together into one "Event" and the other albums in the iPhone were nowhere to be found. Is there a way to upload photos so that the "Camera Roll" gets an "Event" and the other albums get their own respective "Events"?
What I want to know is how to upload photos so that each iPhone camera album appears as a separate "event" in iPhoto. Please help and thanks in advance.

Per the iPhone User Manual, I don't believe you can do what you're inquiring about.
Among other things, it clearly states albums on the iPhone are not transfered to iPhoto as such.

By albums are you referring to albums in iPhoto on your iPhone.  Only photos in the Camera Roll get imported into the iPhoto library when connecting the iPhone to your Mac.

  • Need help putting photos on my iPad

Trying to put scanned photos on my iPad. I have tried iTunes but under devices there is no photos to select. Need help.

Photos doesn't appear on the left-hand sidebar under Devices, it appears on the right-hand side in a similar way as for selecting and syncing music, apps etc
If you are on iTunes 11 on your computer then you may want to re-enable the left-hand sidebar via View > Show Sidebar (option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), which might make it easier to navigate and my instructions may make more sense.
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes (if you've enabled the sidebar), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If you haven't enabled the sidebar, then from your library click 'iPad' at the top right of the screen and you should get a series of buttons along the top of the screen, including one for Photos

  • Need help organizing photos

I need help organizing my photos.  Over the years, my Mac has collected photos in many different locations, many different folders, both on the internal and an external hard drive.  What I need is the best and easiest software for: 1) searching multiple hard drives to find all photo (and video) files; 2) identifying and removing all duplicates; and 3) putting all photo and video files into a single organized folder in a location that I specify.  There are lots of products out there, but I can't seem to be able to figure out which one is the best, and which one will do exactly what I need it to do.  Any suggestions from the community?

Import the photos into iPhoto and use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  to find and eliminate duplicates

  • I need help finding photos just downloaded to Lightroom...they only show up in "previous downloads" and not in a folder in my pictures

I need help finding phots just downloaded to lightroom...they only show up in "prevoious downloads" and not in a folder in my pictures.  what can I do to correct this?

Also, please be aware that Lightroom is not a file browser like your operating system Finder or Explorer is. If the photos are not in the folder you expected them to be in, it is because you (accidentally) imported them into a different folder.

  • Need help with Photo Stream

I am having issues with Photo Stream and iPhoto when the iPhoto library is stored on a Drobo NAS. When I access the library stored on the NAS I see Photo Stream on the menu and when I access the library I get a  message that tells me I need to switch Photo Stream to this Library. I did select to switch Photo Stream over to this NAS library and I did get a big blue button that is suppose to start Photo Stream but when I push it nothing happens.
I have contacted Apple support and they said that this is the way Photo Stream works and recommended that I submit a request to have this feature added at Apple\Feedback, if it is something I would like to have. They said if enough people request this feature they will add it but that Photo Stream does not currently support an iPhoto library stored on a remote NAS or shared network drive.
My question is has anyone found a work around for this?  If you would like to have this feature added to Photo Stream can you please submit your request to Apple so they will add it, perhaps a little sooner than later?

I checked today and this issue has been solved with the latest iPhoto update from Apple. I am running iPhoto 9.2.3 on my Snow Leopard Server which is sharing a Drobo NAS. I am also running iPhoto 9.2.3 on my MBP running Lion and I can now open my iPhoto Library and Photostream will work with the library and even automatically create events and move all my Photostream pictures into these events within the Library. I can then close the Library on my MBP and open the same Library from my Snow Leopard server and the new Events are there and I can move them around with no problem. Thank you Apple for this fix.   Even though I cannot deal with Photostream directly from the Snow Leopard server this is a very eligant work around.

  • Help needed after uploading photos to my PC and being unable to rotate images and video

    HELP!!
When I connect my iphone to my PC it imports all pics and video. Then when I go into the folder located where these images are located in my C drive and I want to rotate a photo (and video) that was taken upright on my iphone, I get a warning message stating "you cannot rotate this image. The file might be in use or open in another program or the file or folder might be read only"
How do I edit and rotate these photos and videos so I can actually use them on my PC???
    Thank you!!!

Yes, due to Incomplete Software Update on your iPhone your Device is now in Recovery Mode and you cannot take a Backup now. But if you have taken a backup earlier then you can Restore that backup on your iPhone after you Reset your iPhone to Factory Settings.

  • Need help making photo page look clean,Time to show up on Google? Photoshop

Just bought this Mac 2 days ago and am trying to make the switch. I was computer illeterate on my Dell as well but so far this program is pretty neat. I am trying to get my photo page cleaned up. I would like all the photos in a single row across the page with only one photo displayed underneath. I have seen a few demos with that done but I cannot figure it out. Ideally a slideshow would start automatically but I really just want a cleaned up page vs. a blob of photos.
    My site is http://www.greasysideup.com
The picture demo is here http://www.apple.com/ilife/iweb/#album - the scuba picture on the far right of the iweb showcase is the look I am going for.
Additionally how long does it take to show up on a google search? I am following one of the listings on here on how to do that. On the google search pages there is a brief description of the page as well, I believe it is the title page. How do I make Google say how cool my site is? if it ever shows up on google?
Last question - is there a program on my Mac similar to photoshop? I want to do some simple 3-d looking text angled slightly as if it is coming out of the screen with my name and the name of my business.
The other thing I want to do is take this picture, make the background black and make the planes orange or red then put those in the background on one of the pages.
    /Users/joshwilson/Downloads/Yak50_profile.jpg
(I need to learn to post a jpg in the forums as well I guess!!) The photo is the last one on my website photo page labeled Yak 50_profile. I want to make the background black and the outline orange.
Thanks for all the help. This site is great! I think I'll be glad I made the Mac Switch.

  • Need help placing photo image in laptop screen of a video...

I have footage that is both zooming and panning, and need a photo image to fit within the laptop screen space during the duration of the pan/zoom.  Should I use "Track Motion" accompanied with key-framing in 2D?  Does this make sense?  Is there an easier way to achieve this, or is that the way to go?
Here is a rough take of the clip of which I speak.  In reality, we will be placing the same image on both the HDTV and the laptop in the shot.  Hopefully, this will make what I have said above a little more clear.  Hope you can help.  Thanks much.

If you have CS4 then I would recommend using Mocha for AE (a planar tracking software from imagineers system that comes bundled with AE CS4). It's basically designed for the kinds of stuff you described. There are some helpfull tutorials on the imagineer systems's website:

  • [OT] Need Help Tweaking Photos in Photoshop

Although I know Photoshop fairly well, I am a novice in this general area of tweaking photos ... and could use some help.
I have some inferior photos that I would like to do my best to fix up in Photoshop CS2. Many of them somehow turned out quite faded ... I am not sure why.
I have posted one of these photos as an example on the Web. I would be interested in finding out the best quick way to tweak these pictures and make them more presentable. Feel free to just take a look or, if you would like, download the photo into Photoshop and let me know the best way to proceed.
    Location:
    http://www.brainbeast.com/pic/
    - I have fooled with :
Image - adjustments - levels ... and moved the left and right arrows to the edge of the data areas and that seems to help ... however I'm not sure what to do with the Middle arrow - etc...
    - Also - I fooled around with the exposure adjustment and also the shadow/highlight adjustment ... however from my limited knowledge - they all sort of seem to do the same thing - and I'm not sure which method or combination of techniques is best.
Q: Can someone help give me some suggestions as to how to proceed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - RevDave

I find that using the Levels control (Command-L) is a little more intuitive than the Curves. I would seem to have problems with dragging the right direction but that's my issue. The Levels has an auto button that will get you very close to what mebs produced. You can then move the sliders to fine tune it.
Both ways will clean up the photo. It's just which way you're more comfortable with. Good luck.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Need help moving photos to external drive

Hi, all--here's hoping one or more of you Aperture veterans can help.
Here's my situation: I'm not new to photography, but I'm new to Aperture. Just bought 3.3 and still getting to know what it can do. I'm an emigre from iPhoto, and one of the reasons I upgraded within Apple is that I was tired of the non-intuitive nature of PS Elements. I like to take pictures, not spend endless time in the dim glow of a screen digging through sub-menus for stuff, and from what I read, Aperture seemed more intuitive.
But now I've got a seemingly very basic problem that hours of poring over discussion threads and searching through the hundreds of pages of the manual has done little to address with any clarity:
How do I move (not just copy) older photos in projects to external drives, but in such a way that Aperture still keeps track of them, even when the drives are not connected? (The Aperture marketing I read/viewed clearly said Aperture could do this, and I'm running out of space on my MacBook Pro (15" from about 2008, running Lion) with lots of CF cards piling up.)
    Info that may help:
-I need to move not just original (imported into iPhoto directly from the camera) photos, but also those I've adjusted in Elements, then re-exported into iPhoto (I would say "and now into Aperture," but as you know, there's no longer an import process b/w iPhoto and Aperture).
    -I shoot mostly RAW.
-I have no idea whether the pictures are "Referenced" or "Managed" (for space reasons, I have yet to import any files directly into Aperture; all existing photos are from iPhoto, and if I was given an option when I set up Aperture, I don't now recall it).
-I have external drives with plenty of space to move older pix to (I also have multiple backups, including Time Machine, additional external hard drives, and DVDs)
Can somebody who knows how to do this safely please explain in clear language how to move photos as projects onto external hard drives so that Aperture keeps track of them via viewable thumbnails, even when the photo files themselves live on a hard drive that is not connected at the time?
    Thanks in advance!

    First things first:
You can easily check if an image is managed or referenced by ctrl-clicking on an image version and selecting "Locate referenced files...". If Aperture says "No Referenced Files", your originals are managed by Aperture and stored within the library itself, otherwise it should show you the location of the original, and give you some options to verify the references and so on. I don't know which method is used when importing from iPhoto.
Now, here's something you need to ask yourself:
Does it make more sense for you to keep the library on your laptop and the originals on an external drive, or does it make more sense to move both the library and the originals to the external drives?
In the first case, you can open and look at the thumbnails, but there's not a whole lot else you can do with your images when the external drive is off line.
If you have vast amounts of originals, spread across multiple drives, it might make sense to keep the library on your laptop and connect whichever external drive you need at the time. However, it might also make more sense to split such a huge library into mutiple libraries, stored with their respective originals (which could be either managed or referenced).
In my case, it makes sense to keep multiple libraries, with managed originals, but your mileage may vary.
Here's a tip that might help you decide: A small library is quicker to navigate and work with than a huge one, although performance has improved vastly with later versions of Aperture.
Once you have decided on the appropriate organization, you can start moving things around (after you've created the appropriate backups):
If your library contains all managed originals already, and you want to move the entire library off to the external drive:Simply drag and drop the library itself (using Finder) to the new location.
If your library use referenced originals, and you want to keep it that way, or your library manages your originals, and you want to start using referenced originals:
    Select all your images
Click on the File menu and select Relocate Originals...
Locate the destination for your originals, and pay special attention to the "Subfolder Format" and "Name Format". I'd suggest choosing "Project Name" and "Original File Name" for the two.
Click on Relocate Originals, and twiddle your thumbs while Aperure moves all your originals to the new location.
If your library uses referenced originals, and you wish to let your library manage the originals:
    Select all your images
Click on the File menu and select Consolidate Originals...
Decide if you want to Copy or Move the originals into the library. If you're running out of space, it might be best to Move.
Click Ok, and wait for the operation to complete.
(Optional) If you wish to move your entire library to the external drive, drag and drop the library to the new location.
I hope that answers your question.
