Need  help using color checker passport with photoshop CS6

Hello all,
I'm having an issue using the Color Checker Passport with Photoshop CS6.  Here's my configuration:
Mac Mini using OS 10.8, but very recently updated to 10.9 (Mavericks).  My problem is the same on either OS version.
Photoshop CS6 ver 13.0.6 64 bit extended
Adobe Camera Raw 8.4
X-Rite Color Checker Passport ver 1.0.2
Canon 70D shooting RAW in sRGB color space
NEC Multi-Sync LCD monitor calibrated with Spyder 3 Pro ver 4.0.5
Now here's the issue.  I go through the recommended workflow and generate a profile with no problem.  Then in Camera Raw (after restarting all applications) I apply the profile to a photograph and instead of getting a nice color-corrected image my image has a greenish-yellow tint to it.  It's very noticeable and I haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing wrong, if anything.  I re-calibrated the monitor, re-did the workflow with other pictures, but still get the same result.
I greatly appreciate any help or ideas on how to remedy this.  I've sent an inquiry to X-Rite via their Support Web Page, but haven't heard back from them yet.
Thanks,
Kevin H.

    Hi everyone
Can you guy help me out How to use Color Splash Effect in Photoshop CS6? I need to use in slide in my web
    Thanks

You mean "leave part in color and make the rest black and white"?
Just select or mask the part that should be B&W and desaturate, or use the B&W adjustment.
Or you can add a B&W adjustment layer and mask out the parts that should stay in color.

  • Need help using the "skatter" function with brushes.

I'm using Photoshop 7 right now. I want to use the scatter function with one of the standard brushes to make a star trail, but the problem is that the stars are too thick, there's too many of them. How do I tell it to draw less instances of the brush when I'm in scatter mode? So that it's only dropping 5 at a time or so?

I have a control bar for "Master Diameter" but I can't find anything that says "spacing."

    Hello!
By other software, do you mean other adobe software? Are you using creative cloud, creative suite, or just Photoshop?
You could try to use the creative suite cleaner tool if it is just Photoshop that you are trying to install:

  • Need help using Apple Hi-Fi with iPod Touch.

Are there any instructions for using an iPod Touch (third generation, iOS4) with the Apple Hi-Fi? I know it's supported from the Apple documents and I realize that it will not charge while using it but I just want to know how to make it work a little more consistently.
I had been using my 8GB iPod Mini with my Apple Hi-Fi in the bathroom. Recently I decided to start listening to Pandora and, maybe 4 times out of 10 I can get it to work just fine, but more often than not it will randomly shut down (every minute or so) or start playing through the iPod Touch's internal speaker and I need to keep restarting and/or undocking and re-docking until it's finally stable enough to run for the half hour our so I need. Once it finally works everything works (volume on the Hi-Fi, remote control, etc.). The display won't stay lit without changing settings but that doesn't bother me that much.
As I said, I have found the Apple documentation for the Hi-Fi that says it should work with the Touch (apart from charging) I just need some instructions on the proper way to connect and get it started initially. Any advice from people that have this working or even better any links to manuals or instructions that describe the correct way to do this would be greatly appreciated.

The answer is yes. I am using my iTouch with iPod HiFi

Thanks for the response. So, I see that my answer does not lie with Adobe--I will pursue the solution elsewhere, if anyone here has some further advice as to what the solution is, please let me know.

  • Need help using NI-488.2 with C++

First some background. I have an existing Windows application (written in MS Visual C++ 6.0) that essentially acts like a printer/plotter. There is a worker thread that receives data asynchronously from a serial port and writes the data to a file for later processing.
Now some of my customers want me to add a GPIB interface in addition to the serial interface. I have downloaded every document, application note, etc., from NI's site that I could find but I'm not finding enough information to help me figure out how to add the interface.
This is what I want to do (in a nutshell):
    1) Application has to run on Win95/98/NT/2K/XP. This shouldn't be any problem but I thought I'd mention it.
    2) Application has to run whether the
NI-488.2 device driver is loaded or not. For this reason I'll use what NI calls "direct entry" to access the GPIB-32.DLL (i.e. use LoadLibrary(), GetProcAddress(), etc.).
    3) Receive GPIB data asynchronously from an NI GPIB interface board (e.g. PCI-GPIB) using a worker thread (same as I do for serial data).
The requirement as I see it is very simple - receive data asynchronously. But for the life of me I don't see any functions in the NI-488.2 API that I can use for event notification in a worker thread. It also seems like there isn't much in the way of sample code that I could find. The sample code I did find involved sending a command to a GPIB device and then reading the data back from the device.
I'm just in the research stage so I haven't installed the NI-488.2 driver or a GPIB card. No point spending money unless I can see a reasonable chance of success.
Does anybody know of some sample code, guidelines, etc., that may help me figure out how to use the NI-488.2 d
river to receive asynchronous data using a worker thread?
    Thanks,
    Mike

If file NIDevice.chm is intended for viewing by all customers, could you please move it to:
    ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing/NIDevice.chm
A notice on machine ftp.ni.com says that as of January 23, 2004, it longer allows downloads from the incoming directory.
Domain name ftp.natinst.com doesn't seem to be accessible at all, though ftp.ni.com was accessible with the above notice.
By the way, some time ago I looked at the marketing pages for NIDevice and saw two different versions with wildly different prices (I think one cost about 20 times what the other cost). Can you say what the differences are?
Also a comment for the original poster: As a non-controller, I used ibnotify() to get a callback when the LACS bit turned on, i.e. w
hen the controller told me to listen. On speculation that the controller would really follow up that command by sending me data, my callback routine did an ibrda() and ibwait() with timeout.

  • Need Help creating an animated GIF in Photoshop CS6 Trail version

    Everyone,
I am new to PS6 and reating animated GIF's and would like to get some guidance.  I am trying
to put the following animation together and very confused when I try to get the section and also
how to add new things to it.  I am running the trial version of PS CS6 on a WIndoes 7 environment.
Trying to ensure that I can do the things I want prior to puchasing the product.
The following is what I want to do:
    1.     With the logo, have it be as if there is a spotlight moving back and forth at medium speed,
shining on the logo.  Wherever the light hits, have that section sparkle. That will be exquisite.
    2.     Have the "CLICK HERE," words alternate starkly (not blending) between white and pumpkin orange.
Again, medium speed. That will be garish, but is okay because it's not part of the designed section.
The file is attached.  I am having trouble trying to select just the "CLICK HERE" portion of the
logo to have the words alternating color.  I cannot figure out how to get a spotlight function to this logo.
Then how to have it sparkle when the spotlight hits the other section of the logo and not have the
spotlight going over to the "Click Here" part of the logo.
I could really use some direction on this and would appreciate it greatly.  Thanx in advance.
    Jerry

The banner does not have to be this large.  Here is a link to using the spotlight with sparkles:
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5012713-285076/371-194/bannerA nimTest2.gif
Also, the spotlight should be just over the "CLICK HERE" section.  If the spotlight could apply in the diameter to the whole text of "Click Here". and use the sparkles,
that would be great and then I can break it out and see how it is done.  Again, it does not have to be this large, maybe a little larger the the size of the first one I posted
would be good.  Then how would I get it to a jpg and gif file?  Thanx in advance.

  • Custom Camera Profile List (Color Checker Passport)

    Hi
I am new to Lightroom 4.3 and have a question regarding Custom Camera Profiles. I have created custom profiles using Color Checker Passport for sunny, cloudy, flash, tungsten etc but would really like to create one for most shoots. I thought it would be a good idea to name it say "Temp" and overwrite each time so that I dont end up knee deep in camera profiles. But I am guessing if I do this will the latest saved version of "Temp" change the camera profile of all other previously saved versions of "Temp" from other shoots?
It would be good if the saved version of "Temp" resided within the folder of that particular shoot only.

In fact I'm amazed at how good the Adobe Standard profile is (Nikon D300/700) - I have never been able to improve on it for sheer accuracy.
ColorChecker Passport profiles I created for my Canon 5D MKII, 600D and 300D bodies looks better than the Adobe Standard profile, with both set to the same neutral white balance. This includes both single-illuminant and dual-illuminant profiles.
Take a look at the below images which were adjusted in LR using normal adjustments for a "picture" image, and not adjusted as a test chart. The Deep Blue and Purplish Blue patches have a slightly different hue and are more saturated on  my non-wide gamut display. I'm sure they would look even more different on a wide gamut display. The ColorChecker profiled image looks closer to the actual ColorChecker when compared side-by-side. Some of the other color patches also have more saturation, which again appears more accurate.
I am certainly no "expert" on color management, but do have over 40 years of film, color darkroom, and digital imaging experience. To me the ColorChecker profile image looks better and more accurate than the Adobe Standard profile image, and that's just my opinion. Maybe it's something unique to Adobe's Canon profiles, but I have no Nikon equipment to test this assumption.
Concerning the OP's creation and use of multiple "sunny, cloudy, flash, tungsten etc. profiles," I did the same thing when I first used the CC Passport. And you're correct that for normal sunlight pictures only one (1) profile is actually needed, with changes made to white balance for the different conditions. But there is nothing wrong with creating multiple profiles and saving them with their matching white balance settings as a Develop preset. Disk space is cheap and IMHO LR simplifies the process and organization of presets, just as Rob Cole suggested.
I would suggest further that under some natural lighting conditions white balance alone may not totally correct the image. Examples would be high-altitude, early morning and evening low-angle sunlight, etc. Of course this begs the question of how much should you actually "correct" these images – It depends on the purpose, such as artistic versus clinical usage, or a balance of both.

  • Lightroom 5.5 and Color Checker Passport

have found out the problem with not being able to export images. If I create and use a color profile using Color Checker Passport it will not allow the images to be exported using 'edit in' if I use a standard Adobe profile then it will export as normal....

Mine Edit In PS 2014 in either case.  When you say “will not allow” do you mean PS never opens or that PS opens but the image never does?
I wonder if there is a permission problem on the custom-user-profiles folder that such non-Adobe profiles are stored in.

I have been using a WD Passport with Time Machine on my iMac.  Since I upgraded to Mavericks, the backup no longer works.  What do I need to do?
I assume that upgrading the WD SmartWare is irrelevant as it is not being used.  Should I upgrade just as a precaution?
One complication is that I have renamed my user since the last time I backed up.

the problem is with the WD Passport drives.   I also have one, and since upgrading to 10.9 I can no longer use mine either.  See if this solution works for you: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23943103#23943103

  • Color checker passport vs Macbeth color checker

I recently purchased the x-ritecolorchecker passport. In the past after i finished shooting my projects,  I would shoot few shoots in different f-stops with the Macbeth color checker, and later i would pen the Macbeth shots from the Camera Raw, and i would click on either gray or white for the white balance. Also some times i would use a Gray card, and it worked fine.
Now i purchased the color checker passport, and i would like to know if i am doing the job correctly or not. From what i heard, what i need to do is:
1- shoot from the color checker passport after finishing my project
2- From the Adobe DNG Converter convert the .CR2 file to .DNG
3- Open the color checker and Drag and Drop the .DNG file into the colorchecker.
4- Save the .dcp file into my camera raw profile.
5- from the camera raw calibration Tab,instead of Adobe Standard profile, or any other profiles change it to the .dcp file that i created from the color checker passport
6- from the camera raw Presets, with the eye dropper tool select a gray or white area, and save it for my white balance
7- Apply the white balance to my shoots.
The question i have is why do i need the passport, if i can do the same thing with Macbeth card ?
please let me know what i am missing.
    Thanks

    Any help please
    Thanks
