Need help w monitor for COLOR
I have a quad core intel running the latest final cut. I do grading with COLOR. I want to hook up a CRT monitor to view what I am working on and not depend on my apple monitors. Can someone give me the scoop on this. We use an AjA IO but that seems to not work since my program reads monitors disabled (grayed out). Do I need a card? IF so, what is best? Surely some of you have great setups.... and I'd love to hear about a solution.

You need a dedicated video input/output card. Time for a little research as this is answered almost daily. Your IO will not work as it's a firewire interface. The following all make products to do what you want.

Connecting Mac Pro to Panasonic BT-LH2550 monitor for Color
Dear All,
I am planning to have a setup to connect a Panasonic BT-LH2550 monitor with my Mac Pro to view the footage pixel-pixel for serious color grading with Color from FCP Studio.
I am wondering what kind of connection I need to have between the monitor and the Mac. In fact, do you I any extras card or connector. Someone told me that as LH2550 has DVI connection, I can just plug the monitor to the computer, but I wonder if this method is accurate enough to show the footage for color grading.
I also heard about AJA, but I really don't need any capturing. Is there any another cheaper way (yet still with good color reproduction on the monitor for color grading).

KingNo...if you want to capture this is a good card. But get the LHi...the LHe isn't available anymore anyway. The LHi will upconvert SD to HD, and cross convert 720p to 1080i on the fly. As will the MXO2...

Hi,
I need some help getting my film in sync to a D5.
The film was shot on MiniDV and edited drop frame (29.97).
What we did first is output on miniDV and dubbed that to a D5 for color correction. Everything was in sync with the timeline. Then my friend color corrected. Since then several shots have been replaced, not effecting the timing at all. We checked that everything was hitting at the same timecodes and everything was cool.
Now I've output another tape onto MiniDV and tried to dub it to D5 but the shots are not hitting at the same timecode. They assure me that everything is drop frame on their end. Not sure what might be causing the problem. Not sure what to try next?
Need suggestions and ideas.

Detlef Kreiss (HP Outsourcing services)For services, you need to monitor the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) and Tomcat (if you're deploying on Java.) Unlike the pre-3.0 versions of XI, these are the only two processes that run as services. Everything else is managed by the SIA.
Other than that you need to go to the Central Management Console (CMC) and monitor CMS, File Repository Servers, and whatever other components that you use (Crystal, WebI, etc.)
If you're using WebI and installing the base version of 3.1 without any fix packs or without SP2, you'll need to monitor the Web Intelligence Processing Server processes - there is an issue that will cause them to hang. You can tell they're hung if they're either stopped in the CMC and wont start or if they're in "Starting" status but they never actually start. The work-around is to stop them in the CMC then go to Task Manager on the report server and stop all of the "webiprocessingserver" processes, then start them again in the CMC.

Help and suggestions for color scheme for multiple flavor package design
I need help choosing colors for a multiple flavor food product line.
My objective in this post is to know how to create or acquire the palette I will need in order to proceed with design, mock ups, marketing collateral etc.
This project requires a color scheme that has enough contrast and variation to represent up to 24 flavors of food packages per type or line of products. Each product flavor or flavor combination (the name of the item, such as Cherry Cocoa Almond or Apricot Vanilla Bean etc.) in the line will be represented by a single color. The product packaging will be white on solid color. The medium will be laser print on gloss label stock.
The problem is that many flavors will use similar colors. Chocolate items will have different hues of browns and Maple or Nut flavors will also use brown tones. Likewise Orange, Apricot and Mango will use similar hues of orange etc. I know the problem could be solved with dual or multiple colors but I do not have that option for this project. All of the packaging is white on single color. There are no accent colors used.
I need to generate the palette before designing the packaging in order to create mock ups for print and then photography for print marketing collateral and internet marketing assets etc.
Does anyone have a good strategy for this or know of any resources available?

Thanks!When it comes to design and design sense, sometimes just the name of the item could generate ideas. There really is no right or wrong way to come up with concepts. But, reaching out to other people is a good way of going about it. In product development, I always recommend putting together some sort of focus group and brainstorm ideas back and forth. In larger corporate product departments you would have product managers defining their product descriptions. You might have a marketing group head get involved. Well, I know I am not telling you anything you didn't already know. I'm just saying that, as a designer, I always present my ideas to a few people to get feedback. And, based on that, I can then further develope the idea or dump it and start over. I recently was involved with a new product development and came up with some really great conceptuals. But, then I was told by a product manager that sometimes you have to roll-out something preliminary and, in a few years of selling tons of great items, you then revamp the entire line with a tag that reads "new and improved". This might work in your case where you have limited resources initially. Hope you do well. You could always post screen grabs of what you are thinking and we could give you feedback, too. Just a thought.

What is a good monitor for the retina macbook pro. Im looking for 27 inch that is around the price of the thunderbolt display. The only thing putting me off the thunderbolt display is that i wouldnt be able to watch stuff on my xbox on it due to no hdmi.
Im going to university so it would be useful to be able to watch tv and play games on the monitor too but Im more interested in a monitor that will work great on the rmbp and on photoshop. I need to be able to calibrate it perfectly.If I am understanding you correctly you should look at the 27 inch Samsung HD LED. Best Buy has it on sale for $340

Any responses would be great. I know you guys are busy answering the really high end tech questionsAll the current iMac models (both 21.5" and 27" with OS X Mt. Lion 10.8) will run CS4, 5.5 and 6 just fine. They will also run Final Cut Pro X just fine. Ditto for most any application you may want to use.
Below are some notes (specific to your apparent requirements) that may help you with your purchase decision:
Notes on purchasing a 21.5" iMac
All 21.5" iMacs come with 8GB RAM but you cannot add more later. I strongly suggest getting the maximum RAM (16GB) when you order the iMac.
The basic hard drive is a 1TB 5400rpm drive. It will work fine with Adobe CS but you will probably want the added speed of the optional 1TB Fusion drive for better performance. Some people will recommend/argue for one of the optional SSD drives instead, but they are very expensive and still only come in relatively small capacities - I don't recommend the SSD drives. Get the Fusion drive and spend any extra money on a good external hard drive for backup and/or extra storage instead of an SSD.
Notes on purchasing a 27" iMac
All 27" iMacs come with 8GB RAM and you can add more later, up to 32GB
The basic hard drive is a 1TB 7200rpm drive - it will be fine with Adobe CS. There are upgrade options to a 3TB 7200rpm drive or a 1TB or 3TB fusion drive - these will be fine also. There are also SSD drive options, but I do not recommend them. (Same comments as above.)
Notes on all the current iMacs
iMacs no longer come with built-in CD/DVD drives. If you need one, you will need to purchase the Apple Superdrive accessory drive ($79)
All of the iMac graphic processors (GPU's) are compatible with Adobe CS 4, 5.5, 6
It is very difficult to impossible to change or upgrade the hard drive later on, so don't buy low-end thinking you can add a better internal hard drive later.
Be aware that Macs always come with the latest (most recent) version of OS X. And OS X Mavericks (10.9) is due to be released soon (in the next month or two). There is no guarantee that the older Adobe CS 4 or 5.5 versions will run on OS X Mavericks. If you cannot upgrade to CS 6 in the near future, you may want to purchase now rather than after OS X Mavericks is released.
For what it's worth, I'd recommend the 27" iMac if your budget can afford it. You will appreciate the larger screen size and added capabilities over the years you will use the computer. -

Need help with animation, for my XAML game
Hello friends,
I need help in creating animation for my snake and ladder game(C#,XAML). I have completed the game logic, but can't understand how to animate my UI.
1. I want to animate 6 dice images so that when the player clicks on the Roll Dice Button a shuffle animation will play, and while the animation is playing the user can't click any thing.
2. I want the player disc to move one step at a time (animation) on the game board.
Please help me I am new to animation. Kindly give a replyHello,
