Need help W/ USB camera (integrated in ViewSonic LCD) to work W/Mac mini

I own an View Sonic LCD Monitor, Model: VX2255wm (USB web cam integrated)
I connected the display and USB camera to a Mac Mini Running Mac OSX 10.5.2 and 2 GB of memory. It also has an Intel Core Solo processor.
For some reason the USB camera will not work correctly with Photo Booth. ( it shuts it off when I want to use it and it sends an error message to apple).
I tried it with iChat and the camera turned on ok and it did not shut off the program. I tried contacting ViewSonic to see if they had any drivers that I could install in the Mac mini to help it work better, unfortunately they told me to contact Apple. So here I am.
Can anyone help me out to figure out what I can do to get this issue fixed? I am new to Macs and I am learning that overall they are so easy to use and do not have any problems connecting any hardware to Macs, this is the first issue I have come across and would like to have it solved so that I am able to use Photo Booth Again. Would anyone know if Apple has some generic drivers that could help me get that USB camera to work correctly?

Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards
First of all realize that for the most part no one here is officially "Apple". We are all users just like yourself.
That being said, I can assure you that it is a monitor manufacturer's responsibility to both provide drivers for a Mac-compatible device and to update them to keep them current with any OS updates.
The reason that they sent you in this direction is because they don't market that monitor as being compatible with a Mac, and in fact ViewSonic's website lists PC only as a compatible computer.
There may be a generic driver and hopefully someone in the community has been able to get this to work and will share.

I am not sure how you are planning to "easily utilise my iMac 2010 27" as display for Mac Mini" I am concerned that might not work out nearly as well as you might think. I have seen that attempted by others and the results were pretty clunky and could easily wipe out any anticipated speed gains. Be sure and talk to someone who uses an iMac as a display for another computer before you spend any money.
That said, if I were in your shoes I would either go with a current top end iMac or a maxed out, top end Mac mini and a 27" Thunderbolt monitor. You will end up spending about the same either way. You can save a few hundred dollars buying factory refurbished machines from the online Apple Store or Smalldog.com but you take your choice of what is available and don't expect it to be there tomorrow.

NEED HELP! -installing Camera raw presets from USB Stick.
I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.
It says to put them into User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings...
When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folders in there are CameraProfiles & Lens Profiles.
I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.
I have latest version of CameraRaw installed and still no settings folder.
I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.
I am using CS5 specifically Photoshop v12.0.4 and Bridge. I have Lightroom 4. I have iMac OS 10.7.3
Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that?
Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?

Will this ViewSonic LCD Monitor work w/G4 MDD?

I don't know enough about screen resolution to know whether this particular ViewSonic LCD monitor will work with my G4 MDD. The G4's video card has an ADC connector and a DVI connector. The monitor I'd like to get, which uses a DVI cable, is the ViewSonic VX1932wm-LED 19-Inch WLED-Backlit Energy Efficient LCD Monitor. I read an earlier post here that ViewSonic monitors will work with Macs. The specs for this monitor are at:

I have the slightly larger VX2235wm which is 22 inches, and the same video card as you on my MDD. I am satisfied with its performance.
The monitor has separate VGA and DVI input ports. The max widescreen res on my MDD is 1680x1050. I usually run at 1440x900 because my eyes aren't what they once were.
I've gotten higher resolution on the same monitor by connecting it to my MacBook Pro via DVI. Can't remember what the numbers are exactly but I know it's larger than the 1680x1050 on my MDD. The notebook has a newer graphics chipset and 128MB VRAM, so that's not a surprise.
As an aside, I played with both the VGA and the DVI sides of the monitor. I found I have more options for smaller resolutions if I use the DVI-to-VGA adaptor that came with the MDD and connect to the VGA side of the Viewsonic.. I keep the DVI cable attached but tangling over the back of the desk so I don't have to rummage so much when I need to connect the MacBook Pro. It works fine on the DVI cable. As long as I turn off the MDD before connecting the cable, leaving both lines running to the monitor has caused no problems.

my first problem: Excel is really open, and the user can see the sheet. I dont want, that excel is visible...is there a way to start excel in no_visible mode?
second problem: The sheet have makro aktiv...at start from excel, there is a popup, which ask 'makros activate' oder not activate... i dont want this popup... is there a way, to say it from abap, that makros always active?
third problem: i see, that the content Table have this components:

a little under a year ago I built a iPod Mini with a 700MaH battery and a A-Data 32gb CF card. all was well until a few minutes ago when I paused a podcast (Bathroom Break) and when I returned it is completely dead. Unlocked, unplugged, plugged into a wall outlet, will not even connect with my PB. I've tried FW & USB cords to no avail.
Do you think I lost the Logic Board?

Need help getting networked shared variables on compact fieldpoint to work

I'm still a newbie and am trying to get Networked Shared Variables to pass from a VI running on a PC to a VI running on a Compact Fieldpoint. I created a VI that sends a message via a Networked Shared Variable and a VI that receives it. I have them both in the same project. If I run them both on the PC, it works, I can send a message string from the first VI to the Networked Shared Variable and read it in the second VI. I have the second VI turn the LED "A" on and the LED "B" off if I send the string "a", and turn the LED "B" on and the LED "A" off if I send the string "b", and turn them both off if I send anything else. It works as expected if both the VIs are running on the PC. The second VI also continuously blinks the LED "C" so I can verify that it's running.
I "deployed" the second VI to the Compact Fieldpoint as follows:
In Project I dragged the VI from My Computer (under Project: name.lvproj) down and put it under the Compact Fieldpoint name.
I right clicked on Compact Fieldpoint name and verified it was set to "Connect".
I right clicked on the second VI and selected "Deploy".
I started both VIs with the "Run" arrow. At this point I know second VI is running since the LED "C" keeps blinking. But, when I try to send an "a" or "b" nothing happens, so the VI on the Compact Fieldpoint must not be receiving the messages in the Networked Shared Variable.
I also right clicked on Compact Fieldpoint name and selected
"Disconnect". The second VI continued to run since the LED "C" keeps
blinking, but I still can't get messages to pass.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I got this to work. I moved the library (.lvlib) containing the Networked Shared Variable to down under the Compact Fieldpoint name. Now it works.

Usb mike not working with mac mini

Hi,
I bought a samson CO1U usb connection mike to use with the mac mini as there is no mike connection. The device is recognised by the computer but apparently not by i-movies or Quicktime Pro 7 as when I bring up the audio screen nothing registers in the sound level and obviously nothing records - am I doing something wrong or missing something out or is this device just not compatible? Apple help were no help!
Hope someone can be of assistance in this matter as I need to record a voiceover on to an animation video.

In utilities / audio midi it says output ( and input ) not supported and in system preferences/sound the input level is registering nothing.I'm going to try the mike on a friend's laptop to see if it is a problem with the mike or the mini mac - or maybe I'm just making some simple mistake in setting it up in Quicktime.Do you know if any usb recording devices actually do work with the mini mac?

USB stopped working in Mac mini

I use a Mac mini as a media center. It is a couple of years old but I never had any issues with it. Recently I came home and heard the fans on the mini blowing as fast as possible. I switched on the tv to find no signal.? I was forced to do a hard shutdown on the device. I booted it back up and found no video, fans were running fine now. I plugged my PS3 into the same HDMI port to test. The hdmi port was dead. I hooked the mini to a monitor and it boots up and I get a picture. All USB ports have quit working as well as Bluetooth and wifi. If I plug in a mouse it lights up but will never work. USB keyboard does not work either. With no keyboard means no pram reset or booting to cd. Is it dead?

Yeah, I'd say it's likely dead. Something happened and the heat buildup in the system got to be too much, and damaged a few things would be my guess.
If it's out of warranty, it won't be worth the cost of fixing it. I was actually just looking up the repair price of Mini logic boards for a couple mid-2007 models I needed to do estimates for. It's about $140 for the logic board alone - later models should be pretty similar - then add on about $100 for labor, and with tax you're pushing $300 which is about the halfway point to a new Mini. So, IMO, it's not worth the cost of repairing if it's anything over about 25% of a new system. But 50% is a definite tipping point for just about anyone I would think. Spend about half of what a new system costs to get the current one fixed, with no real guarantee that something ELSE won't go wrong with it later.
I'd say buy one of the new mini Minis, and this time get the AppleCare plan since you seem to hold onto systems for a couple of years. If this sort of thing happens again, you can get it fixed.
