Need Help - Windows Vista and Latest Flash Player

Have Windows Vista and Adobe for viewing video. Just recently I was unable to
view the videos. Pop-up showed that I needed to update to the Flash Player 11. I down loaded
as instructed and was advised that download was successful but still can't view the videos
since the same sign shows up. Have tried to see what I'm missing but without much luck.

What is your browser?  If IE:

  • Help to open and run Flash Player

I use a 1 yr new Dell PC, Windows 7, Internet Exp 11.  Over the past year I have downloaded successfully 4x the Adobe Flash Player.  It downloads and saves fine in my program files.  It does not show up when I click on START, and show on that list. I can only find it if I do a search.  When I go to the Adobe site, it shows that I have installed Version newest and current version for Windows.  But I cannot get it to open or do anything.  I cannot tell you how frustrating this is.  I also checked with my McAfee and they insist that nothing they have on my computer is a problem and that I have to talk to Adobe (yeah right, just try and find a number!!!).  Can someone please help???????????

    1. It WON'T show up in your Start menu because it's a "plugin" for another program and not  a program itself. You can find it in C/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash and C/Windows/SysWOW64/Macromed/Flash
    2. In your Control Panel under System and Security, you'll find the Global Settings Manager - Flash Player (32bit). THAT won;t be there if it isn't installed.
IE 11 has had numerous problems with numerous sites, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. There's something not right in the code. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • IE9 RC and Latest Flash Player don't work

IE9 Release Candidate was pushed to tens of thousands of users yesterday and now the latest version of flash player does not work in it. I have one PC on Windows 7 64 bit and another on Windows 7 32 bit... same problem. Sites that use flash to display video are dead... including YouTube. They all say 'You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video. ' which, of course, does not fix the problem. Another site uses flash for audio and it's DOA also. This is a huge deal because it is finally a browser from MS that is focused on standards compliance and it is very near completion. Any ideas when this will be addressed?

Hi, Take a look at your addons. Go to Tools, Manage addons and under "Show"(very light text) look in All addons. Find Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it's Enabled.
Sometimes updating a browser version may Disable this.
    Let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Windows Vista 64-bit Flashe Player 11 issues.

I am operating on Windows Vista 64-bit. Adobe automatically downloaded Flash Player 11. I use the FireFox browser. Now I can not view some things to include things on the Adobe site. Is there something I need to do as far as setting and what not go? I have cleared my cache and restarted my pc several times and still same issue.

Could you please try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox? http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-content-rendered-mozilla-firefox.html

  • Windows 8 and no flash player!!

I have windows 8 and am really struggling to find my way around it, in fact, I hate it.
My biggest annoyance is being unable to view videos that friends send or post on facebook. It tells me that I need to install flash player yet when I do it says that I already have it incorporated in windows 8 and to do the following checks. ie:
    enable flash player
make sure that that add ons are on etc.
I have followed all the steps they suggest and still I cannot view videos
Please help, I am really not enjoying this laptop with its windows 8 and am struggling!!
    Thanks

Double check ActiveX filtering per the instructions here:ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer
    Two tidbits of advice:
    1. I don't use IE for ANTYHING but testing web pages. It s-u-c-k-s and I hate it.  Download Firefox and use it for your default browser. You'll like it far more than words can describe.
    2. Microsoft is releasing Windows 8.1 this Friday. If you hate Windows 8, you'll want to avoid 8.1 like the plague. DO NOT let Windows update install that junk on your laptop or you'll be tossing it out a window shortly afterward.

  • Please help me download and install Flash Player!

One day, I had no problems viewing Flash on my computer. Then
one day last week, it told me I needed to download Flash Player 8
to view The Vine on E!Online. I haven't been able to download Flash
Player 8 or 9. Or anything from this site, for that matter.
    I went here (
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoi d=BIOW),
clicked download. Clicked the yellow strip that appeared to install
the Active X control or whatever it's called. A pop-up asked if I
wanted to install or do not install. I clicked install, then
nothing happens. No download box shows up or anything.
I've un-installed my flash player (if i even had one) and
have tried so many times to download a new flash player.
    PLEASE HELP!

ive uploaded the exe file to my server, so
    go
here and save it to your comp, unzip the file, and run the
    program.

  • I need help getting rid of Adobe Flash Player

First - cor-el, thanks for your suggestion (reply form won't let me enter a reply).
Now, my problem: I use very slow dial-up. I cannot have a Flash Player on my computer or nothing else opens. When I downloaded Adobe Reader 8, somehow Adobe Flash Player 10 downloaded with it. It is messing up my Internet use. When I tried to remove it in Add or Remove Programs, and with Adobe's downloadable remover, a notice opens saying it will remove the Flash Player when Windows Messenger is closed. But Windows Messenger isn't open. I never use it. Adobe states “Due to recent enhancements to the Adobe Flash Player installers, you can now remove the player only by using the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller.” Surely there must be a way to find the components and delete each one. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Or maybe suggest something else besides reinstalling the operating system again (I did it two weeks ago -- took all day with help from Dell techs on the phone) and living without Adobe Reader?
    == Operating system ==
    WinXP

    First, a quick workaround.
    In Firefox,
    Tools> Addons
    Plugin Tab
Locate Flash Player on the list and press disable.
    Restart Firefox.
That should at least prevent it from running in Firefox and slowing down browsing. I think.

  • Windows 8 and Adobe Flash Player

I got a new laptop about 2 days ago.  When trying to access some websites that require Adobe Flashplayer, I was unable to view.  So I tried disabling it, then re-enabling it, and messing with the Acitve X filter (as suggested by the website/Adobe), I finally uninstalled it, as that too was recommended.  Now I am trying to work on re-installing, but am getting messages that it already is installed.  Please help!
Thank you all for your help/time.

Flash Player for Internet Explorer is embedded by Microsoft in WIndiows 8. It updates through Windows Update.

  • Windows XP and standalone flash player

I have a swf file created from InDesign. I want to be able to view, and interact with this swf in a standalone player. I can do this without a problem on the Mac. But, when I moved to my Windows XP computer I can't seem to make it work. I've tried to download Adobe's player, but once I install it, I can't seem to locate it to open as a standalone application. And my swf file doesn't recognize it either. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to make this work?
    Thanks for the help,
    Jonathan

Hi, the Adobe Flash Player is not a standalone Player. It is a browser plug-in. There was a discussion this past week about it, so you might want to read the subjects of some of the threads. I think perhaps on page 2 or 3.
Did you check any other Adobe forums? Perhaps the Flash Forum may have info on what you want to do.
Also, when you first open your thread, look to the right side for "More like This".
    Thanks,

    HELP

AFTER I break down and erase the HD and reinstall OSX
You don't have to erase the drive to reinstall the OS. Just reinstall WITHOUT erasing the drive. Only system files will be over-written, and your borked OS will be fixed, while your own files will be left in place. You really should have a backup before a reinstall, but unless one is very unlucky and something goes wrong it isn't strictly necessary.
Never trash anything unless you know what it is, what it does, why it is doing it, and what put it there to do that. I know, it's a bit late for this crisis, but you should now avoid future crises caused by throwing away (or moving) the wrong thing.

  • Flash player has been installed multiple time without errors but bbc news website and even flash player help say it isn't. How do i get out of this loop? - using windows 7 ultimate and latest IE11

flash player has been installed multiple time without errors but bbc news website and even flash player help say it isn't. How do i get out of this loop? - using windows 7 ultimate and latest IE11

I have had the same problem for WEEKS and I cannot access any sites that use Flash. Flash has been installed on this computer since I bought it in 2012. I have allowed auto updates but for weeks the updates never get past Step 2 - is this because I do NOT want the Google Tool bar? I use NO tool bars as there is only 6 inches of vertical screen space. Is this because I uncheck wanting Chrome as a default browser?  It is already installed, I just don't use it.  I came to this site and ran the check is it installed and the system says it is either not installed or not enabled. Version 14 just downloaded about 30 minutes ago - but did not progress to Step 3 although a pop up screen came up with a finish button, which I clicked. WHAT is the problem and how do I fix it?  If this were just a compatibility bug between IE11 and Adobe they have had plenty of time to fix it.
