Need help with a finished FCPX movie

I recently upgraded to Final Cut Pro X from Express and am loving all the new features and capabilities that come with it. I just helped a friend with filming and editing a play at his school. After I finished editing it, the final MOV file is about 11 GB. Pretty big. When I try to put that file into iDVD to try to burn a DVD, my Mac begins to heat up really fast and I'm worried that this might overheat the processor.
I've tried other means of compressing the file without losing quality, like Handbrake, but to no avail. Is there a way to compress the file down so I can burn it to a disc in a more manageable way?
I've heard of compressor but am not all that familiar with it. Would that program be applicable to my situation?

DVD’s can be burned directly from inside FCPX, no need to use Compressor…
Although, Compressor offers much more flexibility.
If the movie is played only on the computer, one could convert it to H.264 and burn that
to a DVD as data-file.
Otherwise, save your FCPX media as “Master File” and burn that file with Roxio “Toast”.
Be aware, that DVD’s are standard definition, compressing HD media for a DVD
converts the media always to standard definition.
To burn HD media onto a disc one has to create a Blu-Ray or AVCHD-disc.

  • Need help with AS3 to play movies

Here is my what I'm working with: Flash CS3, AS3. I have 4
buttons and 4 movies (each button will be asigned to play one of
    the 4 movies).
Not sure if this is the best layout but here is what's
included in my file. I have an Actions layer, 4 buttons (on 4
different layers), 4 embedded movies (on 4 different layers...all
about 5-8 seconds long). I'm sure this is simple but figuring out
the code for AS3 is like learning Chinese....I need major help with
    this.
Lets say that my buttons have instance names like button1,
button2, button3, button4, and my movies have instance names like
    movie1, movie2, movie3 and movie4. Here's the catch. I don't want
the movies viewable (or seen) until the user selects one of the
buttons. So if the user selects button1 the movie will appear (next
to the button without any contols...just a movie with a border) and
play. If the user hovers off or moves the mouse off the button, I'd
like for the movie to disappear.
Can someone please give me the the code needed so that when I
    select button1 that it will play movie1, button2 w/ movie2....and
    so on.
    Thanks for your help!

Here is the link to the fla file.
    http://joshhicks.com/flash/flashfile.html
I updated the link to the latest swf
    http://joshhicks.com/flash/del2.html
I added stop(); to the 1st frame of each moive and this fixed
the movies from playing in the background unseen. If you can help
me with one last question...then the file will be complete. As of
now when you select one of the movies, it plays once thru and
starts back at frame one (loops) which is the way I want it to
play. But if you hover off one of the buttons while the movie plays
(lets say when the movie is showing the number 2) when you go back
to view the same movie, it will start where you left off (it will
start on the fram showing 2 and not 1). How can this be set up to
play from the beginning of each movie everytime you happen to go
back and click on the button? Thanks

...iMac to my MacBookPro, so that I can continue to work on it on the laptop. When I go to 'Save As' Archive the option is greyed out. Then I read something about grabbing blue loops after clicking the eye icon on another forum, but I didn't see anything like that.

you only need the Archive function if you don't have the same loops on the other computer, or if you pasted regions between projects.
that said, here's the description for enabling it:

I can't find my serial number and once I do I would like to move my Pro to another computer. Need help with both.

    Hi Rick ,
Here is the link that will help you find the serial number for your product quickly .
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html
You would have to deactivate that software from your older machine first.
Refer to the following link to deactivate your product .
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
After it is deactivated from the older machine you can use it on your new machine just by entering the serial number of the product .
Let us know if you need further assistance.

  • I need help with illustrator 10

I need help with illustrator 10, I have artwork I need to finish in it and it keep kicking me off.
I have added transparency, using SVG effects, a lot more detail and that is when it started kicking me off.  I just added 2 gb of ram thinking it was ram I needed but it keeps kicking me off.
I think there is something I need to change in how I save it???
    I have a mini mac, 10.5.8
The screen also turns white while I am working and when it does kick me off it says there is an error.I know I am behind the times but I am just trying to get this deadline done and be able to update my computer and such in a few months.  Help!

I have very simple artwork and when I add any textures or transparency or
any type of detail from SVG effects it will not let me copy it and paste or
when I do try to move it everything turns white or it just kicks me off.
Then I cannot get back onto illustrator. It takes a very long time to save
it or move things.  This has not happened before.  I have been designing
for 25 years and am self taught. I can get on my simple designs.  I am
saving my artwork as AI document.  I just have to finish the designs and
put them into dropbox. I do not need to print.  I did add 2 GB of ram
thinking the extra memory would help.  I think I need to turn something off
and turn something on.  There is an error window that comes up the says the
application illustrator has quit unexpectedly.  I am at a dead end on what
    to do!

  • Need help with reviewer CS4

I am usung the Captivate reviewer to distribute draft modules.
The problem I am havving is the .LOCK file - when someone goes to review the module, they have to specify the location of a temp file. (the .lock file). When they have finished that module, then they have to either specify a new location for the next module, ot manually delete the lock file.
Is there a way to disable the comments logging feature, or have the lock file automatically deleted?
    Thanks

    Thank you.

  • Need Help With File Matching Records

I need help with my file matching program.
Here is how it suppose to work: FileMatch class should contain methods to read oldmast.txt and trans.txt. When a match occurs (i.e., records with the same account number appear in both the master file and the transaction file), add the dollar amount in the transaction record to the current balance in the master record, and write the "newmast.txt" record. (Assume that purchases are indicated by positive amounts in the transaction file and payments by negative amounts.)
When there is a master record for a particular account, but no corresponding transaction record, merely write the master record to "newmast.txt". When there is a transaction record, but no corresponding master record, print to a log file the message "Unmatched transaction record for account number ..." (fill in the account number from the transaction record). The log file should be a text file named "log.txt".

I am not sure what is wrong with my code above to make my results different from the correct results.
Much help is appreciated. Please help.

From the output, it looks like one problem is just formatting -- apparently you're including a newline in log entries and not using tabs for the newmast output file.
As to why the numbers are off -- just from glancing over it, it appears that the problem is when you add multiple transaction values. Since account.combine() is so simple, I suspect that you're either adding creating transaction objects incorrectly or not creating them when you should be.
Create test input data that isolates a single case of this (e.g., just the Mary Smith case), and then running your program in a debugger or adding debugging code to the add/combine method, so you can see what's happening in detail.
Also I'd recommend reconsidering your design. It's a red flag if a class has a name with "Create" in it. Classes represent bundles of independant state and transformations on that state, not things to do.

I need help with a website I've created (www.jonathanhazelwood.com/lighthouse) I created the folowing site with dreamweaver at my current resolution 1366 by 768. Looks great on my screen resolution but if it is viewed on other resolutions the menu moves and some of the text above and below. How can I keep all content centered and working like it does on 1366 by 768 on all resolutions. The htm to my site is below I started off with a blank template through dreamweaver CS5.

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.

Look at all the apdiv's you have.  Those are absolutely positioned layers.  I'm assuming by your post that you are very new to Dreamweaver and HTML and CSS.  I would highly recommend not using absolutely positioned layers until you have a better grasp on HTML and CSS.
Looking at your code I would suggest that you consider using one of Dreamweaver's built in, or downloadable templates as a starting point and work from there.

    Andrew,
The iPod and iTunes are not compatible with Windows ME and the minimum requirements are Windows 2000 with SP4 or XP with SP2 (although I use several iPods and don't have SP2).
If you can't upgrade to one of these, then you can use the iPod with ME if you are prepared to fiddle around a little. However, you won't be able to use iTunes.
    See this.
Guide to iPod and Windows ME
You can use iPods purchased in the USA here in the UK. Our family uses 3 such iPods.
You can also use the iPod on any number of computers as this document explains.
    Using iPod with multiple computers
Whoever gave you you all this wrong info deserves to be shot!
Just one more thing Andrew. Please start your own topic in future instead of jumping in an interrupting someone else's with an unrelated query. It's know here as "threadjacking" and is against the discussions Terms of Use.
    Good luck with ME!

  • HOW DO YOU GUYS DEAL WITH APPLE.. SO CONFUSING...NEED HELP WITH SPECS FOR PURCHASE OF IMAC 21.5

Hi guys, been reading your forums, blogposts, etc and am getting more confused.  I'm just a video girl trying to produce meaningful content through web videos for small to mid sized businesses and want to come over from the dark side.
Good news,, I dont need a super giant system,  I do simple editing for web videos, minimal graphics, no motion graphics, no animation etc. currently using CS4, will probably end up with 5.5.
I want to get imac 21.5 or 27 if i have to..  So here's the question we all have,,, what do I really need besides an Apple fairy godmother to figure this crazy stuff out?????
I want to be able to have firewire add on, but the rest is what I need help with.   So i've been looking at cs6 specs, even though im not there yet, eventually will be,, so just need to run cs4 now and build from there.  I also want to eventually move to final cut down the road so I want imac able to upgrade to final cut.
WHAT DO I REALLY NEED MINIMALLY FOR NOW?  WHAT CAN I GET LATER IF i CHOOSE TO DO MORE AND NEED MORE POWER?
    cs6:
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.6.8, v10.7, or v10.8**
    4GB of RAM (8GB recommended)
4GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space required for preview files and other working files (10GB recommended)
    1280x900 display
7200 RPM hard drive (multiple fast disk drives, preferably RAID 0 configured, recommended)
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
DVD-ROM drive compatible with dual-layer DVDs (SuperDrive for burning DVDs; Blu-ray burner for creating Blu-ray Disc media)
QuickTime 7.6.6 software required for QuickTime features
Optional: Adobe-certified GPU card for GPU-accelerated performance
Any responses would be great.  I know you guys are busy answering the really high end tech questions

All the current iMac models (both 21.5" and 27" with OS X Mt. Lion 10.8) will run CS4, 5.5 and 6 just fine.  They will also run Final Cut Pro X just fine.  Ditto for most any application you may want to use.
Below are some notes (specific to your apparent requirements) that may help you with your purchase decision:
Notes on purchasing a 21.5" iMac
All 21.5" iMacs come with 8GB RAM but you cannot add more later.  I strongly suggest getting the maximum RAM (16GB) when you order the iMac.
The basic hard drive is a 1TB 5400rpm drive.  It will work fine with Adobe CS but you will probably want the added speed of the optional 1TB Fusion drive for better performance. Some people will recommend/argue for one of the optional SSD drives instead, but they are very expensive and still only come in relatively small capacities - I don't recommend the SSD drives.  Get the Fusion drive and spend any extra money on a good external hard drive for backup and/or extra storage instead of an SSD.
Notes on purchasing a 27" iMac
All 27" iMacs come with 8GB RAM and you can add more later, up to 32GB
The basic hard drive is a 1TB 7200rpm drive - it will be fine with Adobe CS.  There are upgrade options to a 3TB 7200rpm drive or a 1TB or 3TB fusion drive - these will be fine also.  There are also SSD drive options, but I do not recommend them. (Same comments as above.)
Notes on all the current iMacs
iMacs no longer come with built-in CD/DVD drives.  If you need one, you will need to purchase the Apple Superdrive accessory drive ($79)
All of the iMac graphic processors (GPU's) are compatible with Adobe CS 4, 5.5, 6
It is very difficult to impossible to change or upgrade the hard drive later on, so don't buy low-end thinking you can add a better internal hard drive later.
Be aware that Macs always come with the latest (most recent) version of OS X.  And OS X Mavericks (10.9) is due to be released soon (in the next month or two).  There is no guarantee that the older Adobe CS 4 or 5.5 versions will run on OS X Mavericks.  If you cannot upgrade to CS 6 in the near future, you may want to purchase now rather than after OS X Mavericks is released.
For what it's worth, I'd recommend the 27" iMac if your budget can afford it.  You will appreciate the larger screen size and added capabilities over the years you will use the computer.

  • Need help with the Vibrance adjustment in Photoshop CC 2014.

Need help with the Vibrance adjustment in Photoshop CC 2014.
Anytime I select Vibrance to adjust the color of an image. The whole image turns Pink in the highlights when the slider is moved from "0" to - or + in value.  Can the Vibrance tool be reset to prevent this from happening? When this happens I cn not make adjustments...just turns Pink.
    Thanks,
    GD

    Thank you for your reply.
Yes, that does reset to “0” and the Pink does disappear.
But as soon as I move the slider +1 or -1 or higher the image turns Pink in all of the highlights again, rather than adjusting the overall color.
